Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Gen. Discussion & Info

Thanks for playing a few, I should go to bed, classes in the morning. Warrior, I'll add you now and then I'll play you later this week.

Thanks decrot, your Pit is dope. I went to random and got destroyed with Lucario...not a good matchup. Tell me you are using Pit as your main so I can feel better.

GG BlueLobstah. I think I'm done for the day. Good job mixing up the Pikmin attacks. Too bad my sword slaughtered most of them in one hit :p

Yeah, your Ike was just too much for me. I was often doing as much damage as you I just had a hard time keeping my Pikmin up and being able to get close enough to you to knock you off stage.
That was fun Izzy, but it's lagging like crazy. I had to get out of there
I don't blame you at all.

warriorblake, what kind of connection are you on?
one of your taunts read "fear the 56k"

are you using 56k to play brawl?
that game was like molasses

Yes, I am on 56k. It was a bit choppy but not unplayable surprisingly! I wanted to test it out on dial-suck to see how bad it was. Even with 3 people it wasn't that bad.

you need to post a 56k warning on your fc lol. that was horrible
Man, who is Izzy? My connections to Suko and Daisy and usually really good, but through in Izzy there and lol, it was lag city in our 4man brawl.
its me ;) probably cause my bro is downloading like nuts right now, messing up my speed

Good grief. No wonder those matches were so bad. I agree with decrot. There really needs to be a warning or something.
56k works with the Wii? How did you get a Wii back there in 1998?!
DSL just hates us here. This is all we can get thats CHEAP!!! I could get satellite but the up front cost of around $400 and $50/mo. is just ridiculous aside from $20/mo. for DSL, which isn't available here! *sigh* But it is a curse that I must deal with...

Hehe should've seen me and yume's fight. With my 56k and yume's bro downloading, it was the slowest match ever!

Still, even with 56k, I clocked my speeds at going around 10 kilobytes a second, which is pretty darn good for dial-suxxorz

How exactly are you using the Wii with a 56k connection though? I would just use the Wii to search the area and see if any of your neighbors didn't put a pass on their wifi. I do that when I'm at my parents place haha.
Yeah, same here. But only for a few more months, man...

Man that was laggy Izzy. Was your brother still downloading? I'd like to play you again on a day where the delay doesnt kill me.

you're pretty good with pit, took all my willpower not to toss the controller at my wall after getting shot by that blasted arrow for the 100th time, right now i'm using my usb connector, i'll try swapping back now since hes finished streaming anime and d/l in general

Even if you did have satellite internet you wouldn't want to play SSBB with it, have you ever seen news interviews with the interviewee is on a satellite link? That sort of lag would be horrible for a game like Brawl.

:wall:

Dammit, I knew this would happen - one of my kids used a hammer to unlock *something*. Does it only allow you to use it on red squares, or can you completely waste one by hitting a blue square? He claims it was for something requiring intense mode, but he could have just told me that since I had said I wanted to save them for those kinds of things. I'll have to look and see what is unlocked, though if it is a stupid "play on this stage 10 times" one I'll never be sure what he did. You only get 4 total, right? I know we had 3, and now we only have 2. Grrrr... Now I guess the game gets put away and they only play supervised.
You only get 4 total, right?
I'm pretty sure it's 5.
Edit: Maybe, it is 4... hmm, all this time I was counting on 5.

EditEdit: After looking at the FAQs, there have been some conflicting stories. Well, not exactly "conflicting." Both game the locations of 4 golden hammers, while one of them specifically said that there were 5 in total (http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/wii/file/928518/52118)

Just a friendly reminder, Round 2 pairings for the Brawl tournament are up. I doubt people are going to get games done at this time of night, but that's what a friendly reminder is all about. =)

Okay, Arikado, you have no idea how many times you've rejected me. :p

You must love your 1v1.

EDIT: Oh, and good game to Gunstar. I respect greatly a guy who uses all his Pokes.

Thanks... Well, there's way more than 4 or 5 things I'll never be able to do anyway, so I guess I was never going to have it complete to begin with. Still, I am highly annoyed at my older son right now. At first he denied it, then he said he did but it was a "hard mode" thing. Well, I just looked through all the boxes and I see nothing that I didn't already think was unlocked. Is there a way to waste a hammer and not even unlock anything? Or if he did use it, it was on a stupid "play 10 times on this stage" kind of thing. Unbelieveable...

Thanks for the games. You brutalized me so badly though in 1-on-1, that I figured I should just call it a night at that point and patch up my wounds. Not sure why our Triple Threat matches with Rig slowed down so much though. I had a great 1-vs-1 connection with each of you, but all three of us at once was lagging badly.

I greatly respect your choice of characters. Seems refreshing to not have to fight Ike, Pit, or Lucas for a change.

I saved the replay of our Bowser vs. Zelda vs. Toon Link match. Some of the pit K.O.s were hilarious. Too bad the Taunts don't save to replay.

Heh... sorry about that man. Suko and I wanted to get some one on one matches in. I love four player free for all just as much as I love 1v1. Nothing against you.

Hehe, fair enough.

Good luck this weekend with the GameStop tourney, BTW! Falcon Punch FTW, eh?

I apologize too. I really really wanted to play him and finally got the chance. My 1v1 with kado is now satisfied! It was great. I'm cool with FFA's as well.

Thanks. We'll see what happens. I really should be practicing with the Wiimote/nunchuk, but I can never put down the GameCube controller when I'm playing.
Don't forget Arikado. You and me have to throw...again. Damn that Captain Falcon all the way to hell.
Yes indeed. When do you want to play our match?

Hit me up on AIM (ArikadOdakirA) if you want.

all this talk about how online differs from offline is unnerving me for the tournament.

i ain't never play online yet... =(

the biggest problem is always input lag, when you press the button your attack will not always come out, or it will delay for a moment before executing

I got the Nintendo USB Wi-Fi connector to share the dial-suck connection for my Wii and DS. And, again, there is no DSL in my area and i only have one neighbor near me so we don't have DSL period. I could go to my friends house 10 mins away to get it, but i dont really want to drag my Wii there.
Yeah, same here. But only for a few more months, man...
Few more months???

EDIT: And I think it is appropriate to say: *ahem* IT'S OVER 9000!

Well, I doubt input lag will be your biggest problem.

As you're playing Strell, your biggest problem will be Lucas's UpSmash.

:bomb:
A few more months, and then I move to an area where I can actually get something besides dial-up.

:bomb:
I swear, any sort of lag is that smash's best friend.
