Hmm, at first it took a while for me to get used to the Melee Fox, but now I personally think the 64 Fox looks a little lame. Even though I think the current Fox looks like a chipmunk, I believe I'll get used to the design over time.

I'm still laughing about the first trailer though when the four chars got design/graphic upgrades and Kirby's was pretty much the same looks-wise.
I remember showing the SSBB trailer to some friends and that part got huge laughs.

The new YI stage does indeed look awesome. As for Fox, I hope to god that they nerf his speed, or at least change around his move set, so that at least I won't get owned by Fox players right out of the gate. And Falco, no offense to the pros who use him, but he needs to go entirely.

Wow, it looks great. The Yoshi's Island art style is awesome.

I wanna know what some of the more complex stages will be like; what do you think is gonna be this game's Hyrule Temple?

Yoshi's Island looks pretty cool, and the seasonal changes sound cool too. It looks slightly bigger than the Melee YI which I'm grateful for.

Maybe it's just me but the Brawl chars look like they were cut and pasted into that Yoshi's Island stage.

Oh hey, the central platform tilts. Didn't notice that before.

It looks cut-and-paste probably because of the art style contrast [/bs reasoning]

There hasn't been a stage with a single elevated platform in Melee, has there? Definitely not a single big tilting one. I guess it's comparable to the Donkey Kong stage, minus the two "islands" on either side.

This one will be interesting to play, judging from the structure of it alone. And, of course, the game looks gorgeous.

Just thought of a stage that would be really fun with friends...they should make a confined, square type room then throw in 1-99 bouncy balls of small, medium, and large sizes all of which you can customize. Then the balls fly around the small room, leaving just your little corner or area free from them and you can try to get to the other side and nail the opponent. The odd time a small crack will open so if you're unlucky the balls or player might just knock you out of it and you lose 1 life XD.

Digging the music (I finally listened to it all), Ridleys theme is by far the best. YI looks amazing but the cel shaded look really threw me off when there were characters on it, its like Flat World but a whole lot different, hard to explain.

This new update combined with the fact that there are already two new characters in the game with wings and flying capabilities (added to the fact that he is a staple Nintendo character from a staple Nintendo franchise in staple a game with only one other staple character from his universe in it) leads me to believe that Ridley will most definitely be playable.

Wow, if we could play as Ridley, that'd certainly be different. However, isn't Ridley considerabley larger than Samus? If I were to gauge Ridley, he'd certainly be larger than Ganondorf or Bowser.

Short range he could be deadly, but long range he is fucked because of his size. It would be interesting to see Ridley in the game nontheless.

Despite the bad ass nature of the Ridley's theme, the production is not as amazing as the one for the Yoshi's Story: Ending theme. I can't get over the bad assery that is Metroid soundtrack synth patches. They are, literally, the lovelist cold brittle synth sounds possible. I really hope some of the more calm stuff is in there as well. Metroid themes are really brilliant.

Don't you mean the opposite? I think you are referring to speed.

Agreed.
They got so much out of those synth melodies.
I used to close my eyes and blast it. It really transports you.

Banjo and Kazooie are owned by Rare, so the chances of them appearing in the game are virtually none.

It's a damn shame, too - we haven't seen any new Banjo-Kazooie material since the GBA game (which was much too short and easy), and they would've been a perfect fit for the GameCube or the Wii.

Yeah, I've seen that part, but it's just that most of the games Ridley was pretty large. Even in the Prime series he was like a true pterodactyl/dragon compared to Samus.

Today's update: Crates and Barrels. Their looks change depending on the stage.

That said, we get some Zero Suit Samus screens and two stages I don't immediately recognize. :D

Oh I got to admit, this looks REALLY cool!! :applause: Very neat!! This was a good update, IMO! I know crates & barrels would be in the game.. but didn't think they would be in here like this!! That's really cool!

Yeah, creates and barrels are a pretty rad addition - it'd be nice if there's at least one stage with a large incline, to allow for some good ol' fashioned crate racin'. :)

The latter is the castle seen from the trailer. Its been speculated that its from the Fire Emblem series.

The former "Sci-Fi" esque setting is the Great Fox, you can view it at the end of the second trailer.

Banjo Kazooie 3 next year for 360

The crates with wheels on the bottom look fun. The changing appearance is a nice touch too. I do wonder if any other item will change appearance to go with the stages.

And you know who I always thought should go in besides all the Pokemon? Ash. I'd rather not see a new Pokemon character, just have Ash with all his attacks using Pokemon NOT used in the pokeballs.

Interestingly enough, all the basic items have been updated for at least somewhat of a different use. As an items player, I'm pretty happy with this development. So, not only can we move and jump while firing guns, we can also push the crates down the slope. I guess it sounds trivial and stupid on the surface, but this is beginning to shape up to be a much more animated experience than Melee. Which is, as far as I'm concerned, exciting.

Ash is an anime only character, I don't ever see the inclusion of him ever, while he may be a popular character, the central focus throughout the whole series has been Pokemon, the trainers chage, the creatures don't.

Ash is in Pokemon Puzzle League that I know of.

Samus added! Damn, her suit is shiny. I wonder what the space stage is that we keep seeing used in the screens? (EDIT: It's Fox's stage, as seen in the Nintendo World video on the site) And I wonder if Zero Suit Samus is to regular Samus as Sheik is to Zelda? That's what I had thought, but they didn't mention her in this update.

So this is what I want to know:
They added Samus (clearly we all knew that, lol) but it was original Samus. We all saw "Newcomer Zero Suit Samus"...I hope they don't make these 2 different characters...Costume changes are fine. It'd be like in Melee when one of Peach's costume WAS Daisy..they could do that again but if you select that outfit they could call her Daisy .. (but whatever lol)

that would be really stupid if Samus took up two spots in the roster. About as stupid as Mario and Dr. Mario (not to offend anyone, but it was just a filler).

Wasn't it gonna be that you only play as Zero Suit Samus after filling certain conditions as Samus? Or was that just speculation?

As for the two roster spot thing, regular Samus and Zero Suit Samus probably play very different, even just by looking at costume and equipment, so multiple roster spots is sort of justified.
I'm probably in the minority here, but I'm excited for this game.
That didn't sound quite right. Majority?

Mario and Dr. Mario are worlds apart.....
Never speak of this again.
Mario and Dr. Mario are worlds apart.....

Not really. Dr. Mario was just Mario with a few tweaks to make him play a little differently. If that's alright, let's just have the entire time game different variations of Mario. It's ok because this Mario is a little faster, this one a little stronger, this ones standing-B does a couple percents more damage..

Might as well make it an RPG where you earn and add different "attribute points".
