Super Smash Bros. Brawl Site! Discussions Inside. Release Date: December 3, 2007
December 3rd? fuck yes! I'll be having a happy birthday this year!
That is my son's 5th birthday and one of his favorite games is SSBM. So that works out nicely for me (since obviously I'd be getting the game anyway - now it can be one of his presents too). The things is, this is tyipcal video-game release-speak and I see that Dec. 3rd is a Monday, which means Nintendo SHIPS it that day and we can't get it in store until the 4th. Which sucks, of course, as my son's birthday actually IS on the 3rd. I guess since he's only going to be 5 we can just tell him the 4th is the 3rd .

It is possible that being such a big release this is pre-shipped though and will actually be available on Monday. I certainly hope that happens with this (one of the few games I recall this happening with before was Lego Star Wars II - I remember having to convince Gamerush to let me have my preordered copy on the release date because they had gotten it in over the weekend and were sure they had to hold it till the following Friday ).

That video segment is a very nice treat. My favorite part has gotta be the starfox stage (at least it appeared like it was from starfox). The background was so epic that I barely payed attention to the actual smashing in the foreground.

Oh, and I really hope none of the stages suffer from horrible lag like Fountain of Dreams did when there were four players.

Why the DK fur praise? (at least on other sites)
Game looks nice though, can't wait!

I could definitely see this happening. Nintendo has already done that once this year, with Pokemon Diamond & Pearl(which released on a Sunday).
I'm trying to figure out how I'll secure a copy on or very near release date.
I just gotta find a retailer that will have their store open for a midnight release.

Counting on one (or both) of the Gamestops here to do it, but I have yet to get in there and ask them.

I'm just laughing (for now) at the notion of camping out or something similar, for this if it does come to it. However, if it must be so then I might have to do it.

God, you're an evil parent. I wonder if my folks ever did that to me as a child now. They -have- lied that Ded Moroz (Russian Santa) was NOT, in fact, Grandpa, although I told them that they were absolute idiots for not seeing that.

That New Year's sucked, actually. Folks thought that just because I called them idiots, they were free to exersice the "no candy" doctrine. I honestly miss the times when they paid all my bills, bought me food and candy, and the worst bad news had nothing to do with financial aid not coming in fast enough.

The 15 second clip is the worst kind of teaser there is. I love it.
Links Final Smash wasnt as epic in game... :(
yea i'm kinda disappointed too, but the game seems to feel more solid than ssbm, back when i first played ssbm i didn't like it because the hits never FELT solid enough, now it looks like EVERYTHING HURTS
I'm expecting an epic update tomorrow.

Predictions?
Announcement of online play would be the perfect way to demonstrate just how irrelevant E3 has become. Would be a great, Steve Jobs "One more thing" type moment. I think online play matters more to the West than it does to gamers in Japan, so I'm not sure there's an advantage in waiting until TGS to announce this, assuming it will have online play at all.

I would only support the online movement for Smash if and only if the connection/interface is at least near perfect. It would be sad if a game that could reach such fast pacing be hindered by online technical difficulties/shortcomings. I've just grown too fond of playing people via "LAN". There's just that adrenaline rushthat comes along with playing an "actual" person.

...but I would love to pwn your guys' faces if there is an online feature.

As for the next update. I hope it's another playable character, maybe one not so obvious. Or at least how Shiek/Zelda or Samus/Zero-Suit will be handled

Smashville.

"Wait a second... Is this...an Animal Crossing stage?! And the name...well... Go ahead and poke fun if you must."

Meh. I'm really not too impressed with the stages so far. I appreciate the fact that they're trying to make the backgrounds interesting, but I'd much rather have creative platform designs instead. I'm really pulling for more Pokemon Stadium and Hyrule Temple style battlegrounds.

Either I'm allowed to f*ck up Nook, or this level fails.

Jerk raccoon.

Though, at 8 PM on Saturday nights, it instantly becomes the best level ever.

This one is just odd. I don't think there's been a game-specific level in previous Smash Bros. that didn't go with a playable character. And yet, the only characters anyone would really want to play as from Animal Crossing are Nook or K.K., and it's pretty clear from these screenshots that they won't be among the playable characters.

As for the level itself, how's this one even set up? It looks like they're on a big flat floating platform that flys around the town. That's just dull.

Smashville may not be as epic as some people would like to believe, but I think every stage looks miles ahead of Melee.

Fanboy? Bet yer ass I is!

I am balls deep in this stage. Totokeke Concert = greatest level ever in a game. Maybe one of those dancing penis mailboxes will be playable.

So the concert on Saturdays..will be it be 8-12 like it is in the game...??? I hope it doesn't mean it's JUST 8:00..LOL

THis looks awesome though! I hope the bastards interfere and do stuff. Like Gracie driving through or something like that..:)

It's cool, but looks to be the most boring of any stage we've seen so far. However, it be pretty sweet if like lilboo said the characters get involved and try to hurt you. :D

Holy crap, I figured this was just typical Strell smartassery, but for once I actually checked out the site and they are seriously going to have Totokeke singing at the appropriate time. And the changing night/day cycle. This is awesome - VERY nice touches by Nintendo here and this only points to there being other good things (both stunning and subtle) all around!

That settles it, I'm buying this ;).

It'd be great if he busted out K.K. playing classic Nintendo themes. I do hope they start giving us some more complex stages like Delfino Plaza or the Mario Kart track.
It'd be great if he busted out K.K. playing classic Nintendo themes.
If K.K. starts playing his normal tunes i'm good to go :D
This could also open the door for AC-themed weapons.

Shovel anyone?
Calling it now: Mr. Resetti is an assist trophy, and will scare the shit out of you.

Oh, Hell to the YES. Why did an Animal Crossing stage never even occur to me?

Actually, I am simultaneously elated and saddened by this announcement. On the one hand it incorporates in a big way one of my favorite Nintendo franchises, complete with K.K. Slider concerts. On the other, it effectively kills my dream of a playable Totakeke, flying through the air and smashing people over the head, El Kabong style.

I think Strell's onto something with the Resetti assist trophy. He pops out and everyone is forced to stop fighting and listen, shamefaced, as he berates them for five minutes. Love it. ;)

I too wished for exactly this.

Ka-bong!
I too wished for exactly this.

I think the idea is that Totakeke is supposed to be the epitome of mellow, so to have him mixing it up would be a betrayal of that. Which I guess makes sense. That being the case, having him perform in-game concerts is just about the coolest thing they could do.

Do you guys think he'll stick to the AC originals, or will he be performing all manner of classic Nintendo tunes in K.K. style? I hope he has a big song library.

I personally don't enjoy smash bros ever really, but the Smashville level is really twisting that around for me... if they really wanted to bend my arm, jus throw in some AC characters as playable characters >_

If Sony fanboys can argue that the Sony Conference "won" E3 because of the new MGS4 trailer, there's no doubt that Nintendo fans can contest that just the release date for SSBB wins it for Nintendo instead

Dec 3rd cannot come soon enough.

Other characters I can think of that I don't see in the screenshots are Blathers, Mable, Sable, Kapp'n, Nook's nephews, and those cop dogs.

I'd shoot myself if Resetti somehow made it into this game. That damn mole drove me nuts, and if I have to save after every battle.... oh lawd.

edit: That would most likely be the best assist... Resetti pops out and disables everyone and begins reciting a 2 hour speech.
