thank god he's back. All I need now is ganandorf and I'm good.
I completely agree...with the slight addition of Bowser keeping his Down-B "Butt Stomp."
I SERIOUSLY doubt that he WON'T be in it, but give me Yoshi already!!

If they do bring him back, give him a fucking third jump :bomb:

Why would Sora be in the game? :whistle2:s

(And no, one GBA appearance doesn't account.)

GBA = Nintendo

Squeenix = Nintendo (now)

Disney = Nintendo

Sora = Awesome

Need I continue?

With that said, I give him a 1.4% chance of being in it.

HOLY. fuckING. GOD.

Thats sick. So we can expect that Final Smashes aren't just all big attacks. They need to add a Super Mushroom item for giant Mario vs Giant Bowser action.

Doesn't "account" for what? :razz:

Out of the characters I mentioned, I know he probably has the LOWEST chance of showing up. But in an earlier interview with the Smash Bros' team, it was mentioned that any 3rd party character was fair game, provided they had APPEARED ON A NINTENDO CONSOLE.

-Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories was (emphasis on WAS) a GBA and therefore Nintendo exclusive game.

-Square-Enix seems to be supporting Nintendo in a big way lately.

-Sora would fit in fairly well with the likes of Link and the Fire Emblem characters

*shrug* Probably won't happen, but it'd be sweet if it did.

Honestly, if they bring back Yoshi and somehow get Sonic in there, I'm set. Anything else is just icing on the cake.

(Like a *slightly* playable GIGA BOWSER! HOOOO YEAH!)

DMK: Quoted for Truth, sir.

It also seems to be quite better. -> + 1 + 2 = Smash? That's cheaper than the C-stick.

Oh man, Strell is going to be pissed.

I don't know, the C-stick sounds like the cheapest option still...But the remote scheme is looking nice and simplified, yet surprisingly viable.
I cant believe I noticed before. Someone at smashboards identified what looks strongly like a wavedash

This is at the end of trailer 2
That looks like a damn strong wave dash to me. Almost Luigi-like.
That looks like a damn strong wave dash to me. Almost Luigi-like.
maybe they gave wario crappy traction? also hes falling from the air so the added momentum would make that wavedash farther, assuming it is a wavedash
That remote only scheme is looking ripe for mapping to an arcade stick \\:D/
Oh... my... fucking... god.

Super Smash Bros on an arcade stick...

That is brilliant.

Okay, so it's cool that the bridge from Twilight Princess is in the game, but couldn't they have given us another Hyrule Temple? Those levels kick ASS!

Perhaps there will be another Zelda stage? Hell, now that I think about it there's no question! There were two in Melee...

There will be. You've already seen them fighting inside and outside a castle in some of the first shots released of the game. I'm sure that's from Zelda.

But I like this stage. It certainly incorporates a lot of the most memorable aspects of Twilight Princess.

Just a personal preference. People who played fighting games pre-console releases got used to them in the arcade. Some people also feel like they have better precision with directions with a stick. Also, all of your fingers on your right hand are being used, rather than having to move your thumb all over the place.

Personally, I'm terrible with a stick.
When I used to go to arcades, it was a terrible thing.

I remember some fighting games allowing you to plug in your own controller (NeoGeo?) I loved that, but wished it for Street Fighter, a game I can hold my own with with an SNES or PSX pad.
Gosh, that was so long ago.

"It's Bulbin Time!" sounds like an awesome thing to say during sex.

Sophomoric humor for the win, as they say on the internets.

An arcade stick sounds like a horrible idea for this game. The reason why sticks are used is that they are easier to control on games where one has to input commands like a hadouken or tiger knee (at the same time having access to all the buttons). However smash moves (excluding wavedash) only require at most the stick in one direction and a single button press (key word single). But who knows, maybe Brawl has changed their system a bit. But seeing as them recommending the Gamecube controller, it doesn't look like the system has deviated much from the melee engine.

As for the c-stick being "cheap". There is a way to get around that. Plus you can use it too. The c-stick is ingenius, I think, because it's not just used for "noob spamming" smash attacks. It's can be used for aerials, c-stick DI, and one of the most overlooked aspects is buffering moves.

Thats really not a legit argument against arcade sticks.

If it helps some people with 236b, then it'll help with 9+Jump,2,A,L,9+Jump,L and so on. Quick strings like shuffling.

Yes I suppose, but the easiest SHFFLing can be done with the c-stick. By utilizing the c-stick one is able to control the attack and the jump movement at the same time. This alows one to space whilst performing an aerial. Basically the control stick to control the spacing and the fast fall aspect of SHFFLing; and the c-stick to determine the timing and which aerial to use. I'm sure it's perfectly doable with an arcade stick, (and yes, there are pro's who can space and SHFFL without the cstick, though far and few between), but the OG Gamecube mapping has proven very compatible with Smash Melee.

The problem with your argument is that there is no spacing available at all. Just straight out SHFFLing. There is certainly more to it than that for performing aerial attacks or SHFFLs. It is possible to space, but the input of commands will be significantly strenuous on the person (requires much much faster inputs). WIth the Gamecube layout, you can do two things at essentially the same time, instead of things one after the other).

I dunno, I'd rather do two things at once than perform those two seperately under the same amount of time.

Oh, and not everyone is versed well in fighting terminology. When they see 236+p for the first time, I guarantee the person will not get what one just said. But in smash where a simple "press b" or "down b" is all that it takes to teach someone the basics of the game... That's what makes Smash one of the easier fighters (if you wish to consider it a "fighter") to pick up. The way of memorizing moves via mortal kombat hotline and going to the local arcade to show your technical prowess is long gone. People exposed to new games, generally want ease of use when picking it up. I'm sure someone new to a game doesn't want to be bombarded with 236k, sj, 623hs, frc, d, ad, 6hs, iad, d.

Is SHFFL any different than 236K in terms of elitist terminology?

Honestly, I think an arcade stick would be fine for the game. Smashing the arcade stick to do a smash attack would seem pretty nice, and it could make jumping with the regular stick seem natural.
Just a note: the castle shown earlier was widely believed to have been from Fire Emblem.
I would laugh if it is something COMPLETELY different. Like it was from a super meg-huh secret scene of the Lord of the Rings, and Frodo can pop out of a pokeball.
I hope whoever made that image at some point has said in their life "There is no emoticon for what I'm feeling."
Wouldn't doubt it.

"Clearly, a foot."

Holding down a button to do combos? Mmmm. Not sure what I think about that just yet.

However:
This guy needs to calm down.
I love this man. He's hilarious. Almost as amusing as Miyamoto. They should let this guy out in the public and see what in the hell he does. I bet he's damn sure been locked up in a developer studio for several months, I can only imagine the insane shit he might do when unleashed.

I love Japanese people in general. When I grow up, I want to be a Japanese businessman. "Please... which way to the happy endings?" :D

Holding down the button for combos seems like it just streamlines the process. Its good for newcomers, and they didn't remove the normal way of doing it, so it doesn't really matter much. I don't see it getting annoying.
