Super Smash Bros. Brawl Site! Discussions Inside. Release Date: December 3, 2007

Pbhhbhbt. It's not like anyone could accomplish such things with the trademark finesse and skill I employ.

Besides, I have minion hordes to dispatch such scoundrels.

Which is only one advantage of living for thousands of years.

Not everything in Melee was revealed before launch, so don't expect tons of new stuff in these updates.
According to Matt of IGN, he suspects more 3rd party characters.
He wouldn't have any insider information regarding Smash Bros. His guess is as good as ours right now.

You must have massive amounts of "meat" stockpiled under your pillow already, then, eh?
Mugen makes all your dreams come true.
If your dreams are random characters fighting each other in horribly unbalanced and glitchy game, then yes.

Mario Vs Sonic on MUGEN was fun . . . for an hour. After that, the gimmick wore off and I was left with a broken ass fighting game.

You pretty much described Smash Brothers, minus the glitches. (well, not as many)

Hehe, anyway, I hope for more 3rd Party guys/gals. I still want Pac-Man and Mega-Man.

Well, I don't find smash that unbalanced. Sure there are tiers, but there are pretty much tiers for every multi-character versus game. I would say it isn't as broken as say Halo 1's pistol which was pretty much a mini sniper rifle. Even in the pro league of Smash Melee, it's entirely possible for say a Yoshi (middle/low) to beat a Marth (generally high/top tier). Of course that's a mighty tall feat, but it's not out of question.

But yeah, I still think Smash can be balanced even more. (Though I still agree Pichu should be axed in the next smash if it comes down to it.)

I realize anything can happen during a match, but a Master of a top tier character will beat the Master of a mid tier character 9 out of 10 times.

I don't care that there are tiers anyway. It's nearly impossible to make a perfectly balance fighter. If they did, every character would act in the same way.
It's fine just the way it is.

Sometimes its a rock paper scissors situation though. Like Ice Climbers is supposed to give Sheik hell, but not so much for other characters. There are matchups that cross tiers.

Ah, I didn't consider that.
That's correct as well.

IC always gives me hell.... :(
Site was updated again, with Mario's Smash Attack and a mini-explanation on Final Smashes. Interesting.
you mean mario's final smash attack

Bam! Bam! BambambambamBAM!

Haha, great caption.
Ok good. So those super moves are the result of an item.
Looks like another item to remove from battle once I see what everyone does with them.

See, I really like playing with items. I love the randomness.

Now what I hate is playing with my one friend. He insists on no items, double damage, and the first star fox stage. All he does is donkey kongs ground pound, which is a bitch with double damage. It's just not fun.

Oh, I do play with items, just not all of them.

I take out the cheap stuff, like stars, food/hearts, and hammers.
This ultimate attack ball would be out too.

I'm a master with the flower stick.

DBZ Mario is awesome.

I'm guessing that Samus's final smash will be that huge charged shot from the trailer that knocks off her armor, and Link had that triforce sword combo thing. I'll have to rewatch it at some point.

Maybe Kirby will cook guys in that soup pot, like a special throw.

I enjoy playing double damage, 99-live games every once in awhile. Of course, I don't play DK and just ground pound. The games last like half an hour, but they are epic!

UPDATE: new item, the cracker launcher

NICE!
Although, I'm not sure how much damage can be inflicted by shooting white people at someone :whistle2:s?

I'm a bit disappointed in this latest weapon. I was expecting to dish out some revenge through salty goodness.

I'm a little disappointed with the whole running around while firing thing. I really hope that doesn't mean you can move while charging up the super scope. That would just be too much.

Mmmmmm what a lovely thought!
QFT!
That would be awesome! Cheap, but AWESOME!
Considering that every character can reflect projectiles in Melee, it would indeed be awesome, so long that your quick R-skills are rewarded as much. There is not a single item in Super Smash Bros. Melee that is "cheap." If you don't know how to take the hammer from them, too bad. If you can't move fast enough to avoid a beating after your opponent picked up a starman, again: too bad. If you shoot at me, and I reflect your shit right back into your face, since you can't block immediately following the shot... You kinda get where I'm going with this.

Colbert... we meet again.

I agree with what you're saying though, I know how to counter pretty much anything so there's no excuse for me being hit with 'stuff'.

You don't feel the heart/tomato/even food items are cheap though?
If anything, those are always off.
You don't feel the heart/tomato/even food items are cheap though?

I can't answer this simply, apart from an ambiguous "sometimes." I'll break it down this way: none of them are cheap at all in a two player versus match, Stock or Time. Granted, if you were going face-to-face and both are at around 200%, you go flying off, and before you respawn, you watch the game deliver a heart to your opponent, without getting even the slightest chance to stop him - it can make you sad, especially if he is already ahead by one. But then again, it's a chance you took when playing with items. I get frustrated when someone gets a starman at 200% in the last 15 seconds of the match, too...

Three or Four Character melee almost guarantee a win to whoever picked up a heart, provided it made a difference. In Stock matches, it's especially annoying. Having said that, so is being able to cape someone right off the fucking edge and into oblivion when they have 14%. Naturally, it's not something an entry-level player can pull off all the time (and if you know your opponent does shit like that, you can definitely use precautions against this cheapness), but if you're clever, you can get creative to KO a low-% opponent (especially with items on). Similarly, it's in your best interest to "steal" a heart when you're at 0% to prevent your opponent from clearing his tiny 14%.

As I said before, at one point in time, I fought in a 2-player match in which neither of the opponents would let the other one pick up a Poke-ball, until the damn thing faded away into oblivion. I love food as a distraction (same with any other item), because in Smash Bros. it's okay to mess with someone who is busy eating (also, the game puts this consumer at a disadvantage, because they can only use B-attacks or SMASHES, since all A-related drills pick up food if it is under them. Pick his dumb ass up and smash his ass. Twice.)

Man, I love this game. Thanks, dallow, I feel even shittier about having to be at work until 7 tonight.

cool, can't wait to own my friends with cheap bazooka charged shots when I go maximum item drop rate with bazookas only :D
the site tells us that it shoots continuously, not unlike strell himself ;)
Indeed. Only I could run around shooting continuously always.

Also, can items be cheap? I dunno. MarioColbert once threw a hammer top at me 8 fuckING TIMES IN ABOUT 3 SECONDS.

I'm not sure how that alters the ongoing discussion, but it did happen.

I'm trying to figure out your post like a puzzle of some sort. Is there a rhetorical question / answer tag team hidden somewhere deep within your painful recollection of that humiliation?

Seriously, you gotta let that go. Mr. Ultimate Nuts.
knows his smash stuff
We are going to HAVE to play an online match, if possible.

I'm a Peach man. Nobody messes with her.

...I'll fight you, because I'M Peach .. :bomb:

I'll get you all!

(except DKM, because he modded his Wii to remove the Wifi components and thus, is now lighter)

Peach is my girl!

I would be most delighted to. I've said it before: Peach is the cheapest character in SSBM, and I can not help but adore her completely. The raw power that is her down-smash is a wonder to behold.

Mmmm, down-smash and up-skirts.
Erm, I mean. Erm.

When I play Smash Bros, my rule is put all the high damage items and recovery items on, rest go off. So basically all that drops are bomb ombs, hammers, pokeballs, super scope, home run bats, hearts, stars, food and tomato with low appearence. What this does is even the playingfield because there is always something good, but it doesn't come often so there is battle going on not just a item rush but once something comes up there will be something good, lol.

Oh and just wait till I kick all your asses with Link. I am the fucking bomb with Link (and not crappy young link), the big Link.

Same here, big impact items in low frequency.

Also, I know Y. Link is supposed to be inferior to Link, but for whatever reason I'm so much better with Y. Link than with Link.
What game is that from?
I'm not 100% positive, but I swear I saw it in Kirby's Air Ride. Anyone know if the gooey bomb is from anything?

Link goes for the quick attacks while big Link does more damage but is slower. For me I am not about the speed as I usually hit the bigger sword atacks with big Link but you might find Y.Links quickness to be better.
New update. Delfino Isle from Sunshine is now a stage.
Sounds real cool, can't wait to play it. Although I didn't like sunshine that much, lol.
