Super Street Fighter II Turbo: HD Remix (Now w/ Friends List & Game Nights!)

Just beat the game with Ken. My tradition with every game he's in lol.

This game is BEAUTIFUL! Amazin' graphics. UDON did one hell of a job.

I'm gonna try out the online later tonight.
Anyone know if they will be putting up a demo on the psn? I know one will be on xbl so why not just put it on both?
Because it's not required on PSN and gives them a chance to just worry about the final game first, then release a demo once it's finished. Plus, it's been kind of proven that a download gets higher sales early on without a demo compared to releasing it with a demo.

Hosting a tournament for the debut party. Post here if you're interested so that I can invite y'all!

Make sure to turn on voice chat and hop on AIM if you can. My AIM is everoo03.
anybody know if its sharable?
It is. I just shared it with my buddy.

Edit: No problem pulling out moves. You just gotta be precise. Look at the Character Move List in the pause menu to see exactly what you need to press to execute the move.

Anyone else having trouble pulling off moves with the Playstation pad? I can't consistently pull off a Dragon Punch motion at all, and I used to have no problem doing this on a Super Nintendo or Saturn d-pad.

So besides waiting for the Saturn-type pad that was mentioned by a Capcom employee on the PSBlog, any other recommendations for good pads or maybe joysticks for this game (and SF4)?

Gosh darnit! Why is freakyzeeky the only competent one in joining my game?! :bomb:

Get on AIM (evergoo03) or Skype (evergoo) guys!

I just picked this up a few hours ago, and I've got some stuff on my mind. Warning- this might sound like i'm trolling, so i'll try to keep it brief.

This seems like a lost opportunity. They redrew the whole game, and it looks gorgeous when it's viewed frame by frame, but they drew it all directly on top of the old frames, so it still animates jerky and rough.

I know that some of these changes might have taken too many liberties with the existing game, but I really wish they had taken some time to smooth out some of the rough animations. Particularly all of the character's regular standing animation.

How to join someone's game/tournament:

Multiplayer > Friendly Match > Accept Invitation

So I don't really have the time to dig deep into it at the moment, but from what I just played I'm lovin' it. Feel free to add my PSN if you want an easy opponent online, I suck it hardcore.

I have 4000+ in MS points, but decided to pick it up for the PS3. I wasn't overly impressed with the ps3 gamepad, but after playing the demo on the 360 it is better. I'm very happy with this version for $15. It is beautiful IMO, and the online play is the best I've experienced for a fighter. The last time I was this excited about any type of fighting game was the Wii SSB. but that ended with me never being able to get into one online match. I also dropped $5 on pixel junk eden as well.

I'm the champion!!

I understand what you mean but you also have to think of it this way. If they chose to make the animations smoother. That would mean adding another frame. For the hardcore players 1-2 more/less frames means a lot in winning/losing. Not to mention a lot of work would have to be redone, which could possibly mean a "new" SSF:Turbo for all the characters and every movement. They most likely new about this and didn't go down that path.

While I also believe they've could've done more to the background animations/settings I'm fine with the way it is. It does bring back the memories I had when I played in the arcade and SNES.

Did you use the E.Honda scissor arms cheese?

God I hate you people. I need to be doing major studying for a grad. school exam. But instead I'm ridiculously tempted to pick this up. LOVED this game back in the day.

hell yah dood! chip damage in the corner!

I havent been able to connect in like the past 10 minutes!!!

I went to turn off my PS3 and it said like "turn off after background download?"

wtf you're downloading something without telling me?!?!?! thanks for kicking me off the game!!

GGs to everyone I played. I seem to have trouble fighting against flying Vegas and raging Balrogs.I

Coming from the CAG Smash community (700 pages and still kicking), I would love to see the CAG SF2 community blossom. I've decided to create a Friends List in the OP so that we can organize more games and tournaments. Perhaps we can have a SF2 Tournament Game Night on a particular day every week?

Anyways, if you would like to be on the Friends List, please mention so by posting in the following format:

CAG name/PSN ID
Headset: Yes/No

evergoo/evergoo
Headset: Yes

Has anyone tried this with a fighting stick yet? I've got an old PSX Tekken Arcade stick and a PSX to USB controller converter.. I'm not sure if it would work, though. I'm planning to get this game in a few days.

sigh...bought this game
don't get me wrong its a great game....but I'm a sucker for 2d fighters...
I don't know what makes me buy em at the moment's notice, but I am always the first to buy a 2d fighter (among my friends) and always the suckiest player

I don't know whats missing...I have this weird inability to play, understand 2d fighters....

I bought MvC2 both on dreamcast and ps2
third strike both on dreamcast and ps2
nearly all of the guilty gear series
(alot more)
why do I keep buying these games when Im no good?

any tips to get better?

Just keep practicing. There's no "easy" way to get better. Also play arcade mode and once you think you've gotten better at that...go up to the next difficulty. Don't forget playing with other people will help too.

There are sites out there that can give you in-depth gameplay mechanics and they are useful. So you can take some of what you know and put into your gameplay style.

I just downloaded this game and I already got a blister on my left thumb from 15 minutes of playing. Any tips to handle the blister, beside super glue?

I also just notice I was able to buy this game with my expire Credit Card, that was already on file with the PSN. I thought once your Credit Card expires you can't charge anymore.

BTW I didn't try and cheat the system I thought I would have to update to a new card when I click the buy it now.

the problem is that...I don't think you understand how much I actually suck on 2d fighters (actually fighters in general)...
simply put...been playing 2d fighters since I was 7? (maybe younger) now I am 21....still suck at it...sigh...
one of my favorite genre (nostalgia maybe) but don't know how to play

but that doesn't matter...I will at least beat arcade mode on easy (without button mashing) by the end of this year (TT, please don't make fun ^^)

Hehe no worries. Just keep playing and have fun with it. I normally play these kind of games because of my friends and we can get competitive at anything really.

yea, it still is great deal of fun (even if my *** is getting stomped on 100% of the time)
it reminds me of those good old days at nickel nickel or friend bringing over their snes cart

**by the way...if anyone feels like sf on friendly hit me up psn: dejeckt

Tossing a friend request your way dejeckt. I'm also not that great, but had a blast earlier tonight playing with freakyzeeky.

As for the thread friend list:
brighenne/brighenne
Headset:Yes, but I never ever use it on psn

will add yah bighenne ^^ thanks for sending a request
anyone still on the fence reading this thread....buy it
its 15 bucks well spent

My old-school skills at SF seem to be a little rusty. I have faith, though, and I'm loving the game so far.

Let's fight!

Here are Darkkenpachi's rules for becoming better in a fighting game.

1. pick a sturdy fighter and master them(in this game Ryu and ken are your best bets, akuma is for masters)
2. skip playing at the easier levels and go straight to the hardest level.(you will get beat but you will start to learn how to fight against every character's cheapest moves and increased strength.) you can also add to the challenge by increasing the handicap
3. since it is almost impossible to go to the arcade and learn new combos or different fighting styles, watch youtube videos and look at faqs for combos and ideas.
4. once you master one or feel as though you are good enough with one character, then it is time to branch out and master other people. (ex. ryu or ken to sagat to chun li to fei long)
5. finally the true key to mastering a fighting game is honestly being able to be competitive and know all basic moves and simple combos with each fighter as that also gives you an advantage of picking a better character to go up against anybody you are fighting.

Hope that helps it might have been long winded and might sound like I am snob but honestly those tips will really help you learn any fighting game that much better.

Oh yeah I had a great time playing last night. Everybody please add me I want to get into all the CAG tournaments and Street Fighter nights as possible

PSN: Kenpachiexodia
Mic: Yes

*also the moves seem much easier to pull off especially Zangief and T. Hawk. I could always do them before but now I can do them on command.

I had so many disconnects last night on the ps3 it was insane. However, i also have it on my 360 and played much better. I love using Fei Long and Dee Jay. :)

Well I am officially terrible at street fighter... I used to be pretty decent in the arcades in the arcades, now I can't even get past the fourth fight on medium. I will need to follow Kenpachi's advice and practice. If anyone wants some easy wins (not for long I hope):

It was fun last night, for the games I was able to get in before getting dropped from the server, thinking it's my internet (damn u comcast), it's been acting pretty shiitty these last 2 days...anyways, count me in and a tournament would be great, reminds me of the SSFII tournaments we had in college on the SNES, we'd pull all-nighters playing. I know I myself am not that great, but have always been a big fan of 2-d fighters. I have an x-arcade stick, but I am not as good with an arcade stick as I am with controller, though I was having a lot more trouble pulling off special moves last night with the controller.

Lot of new names in here that I don't usually see for PS3. Nice to see.

Dangit! Can't get this game until this weekend, but I will be online.

Argh man…

I haven't played SSFTT in eons so I forgot how ridiculously difficult the cpu was. Getting thumped by the cpu over and over was a pretty humbling experience! Also I dunno about the rest of you, but after years and years of the Alpha series, I am finding it really hard to adjust back to a fighter with no air blocking!

Ah well, practice makes perfect, add me to the list of potentials for any Street Fighter nights in the future!

So this is another anamally size wise, right? I find it odd that Mega Man 9 and this are both larger than their PSN counterparts.

The XBLA size limit is 350mb, right? This is 368~. The PSN version is 303.

Mega Man 9 on XBLA was 88~mb. On PSN it was 66.

I find it odd that this broke the size limit (again) and that this version is bigger than the PSN version.

Oh I see, you didn't mention XBLA on your other post so I was confused.

Actually, that is kinda weird.
If anything, I'd expect the PSN versions to be slightly larger.

Oh, I just got done "playing" the trial version. What a joke.

Multiplayer, Local Matches only. Here's the kicker: No CPU. You need 2 people to play a demo...what crap. I'll probably still buy it though, albeit later because I'm going to lunch.
