Surprisingly The Last Movie You Saw Didn't Suck Pt. 2
Attack the Block - 9.2/10

A thoroughly entertaining flick with exceptional direction and entertainment values far beyond anything Hollywood has turned out this year short of Drive and Midnight in Paris. The monsters were unique and interesting, the characters although scumbags were charismatic, and the film flew by. Everyone should definitely check this out.
they made the movie for me im mean seriously how many movies have you seen recently where you liked or gave a damn about the characters? especially after what they did theyre all very belivable and interesting people.

makes super 8 look like a elementery school movie project.

I would kill to see Attack the Block. Is there some legitimate way to get it right now?

I watched Yojimbo recently. Damn good movie.

I'll be watching Sanjuro soon. Bought the Criterion collection for half off at B&N last year, just now getting around to watching them.

No legit way right now. It's coming on blu-ray on October 25th. There is a 720p blu-ray rip floating around though.

The great dictator - longer than expected surprised at how nice it looked didn't mind the black and white, been a while since I've seen this sort of comedy was kind of refreshing, and oh what a speech.

I'm not sure how this happened but did anyone notice that September has been stacked with solid releases?

Warrior
Drive
Moneyball
50/50

These are films that are all averaging over 8.0 on IMDB. That's crazy! October looks terrible though:

Human Centipede 2
The Thing
The Big Year
Paranormal Activity 3
Three Musketeers
In Time

The only two potentially good releases appear to come at the end of the month:

The Rum Diary

50/50- Another really good September movie. Hmm... I don't know who to recommend to to exactly but if you liked Moneyball then you'll enjoy this too. Somebody afraid that it is too immature (ie. hate Seth Rogen) does not need to fret. No high school humor is featured here.

Bravo Two Zero - the story of a British SAS team in Iraq who get compromised and have to make a gnarly escape out of a very hostile situation. Based on a true story but unfortunately, the story itself has a bit of controversy wrapped around it regarding the different guys accounts of what happened. Pretty low budget film but still enjoyable. A unique alternate look on a war that was over remarkably quickly and from a viewpoint quite different from the one of say, Jarhead.

Hangover II - It was alright, funny even though it was basically the same as the first.

Bad Teacher - I love Jason Segel, what the fuck is wrong with Cameron Diaz and her face?

Horrible Bosses was great. Fantastic cast that showed up in great form. I'm really glad to see Charlie Day breaking out into more roles.
The Godfather Part II

The first one was great. The second? Not so great...
what is this i dont even
Cloverfield

Modern day Godzilla meets Paranormal Activity.

They shoulda Nuke'd Manhattan and been done with it...
If that happened it would stop a lot of problems.

Every disaster happens there.
Watched Alien for the first time. Wow. I hate "horror" movies but as cheesy as the special effects were. that movie is golden!
The special effects were great when it came out. They haven't aged well, but I still love that movie.

I watched Trollhunter yesterday (now streaming on Netflix). I really enjoyed it, even though it wasn't a "great" movie. Takes place in Norway and is subtitled. It's a documentary about a man who hunts trolls for the Norwegian government.

Finally saw Transformers 3. What garbage, didn't even find the action scenes enjoyable. Terrible edits and cuts, way too long, 90 minutes of Labooff running around acting awkward, tons of scenes that didn't make any sense, and the new chick wasn't much better than Fox. I remember a slow-mo scene when things are blowing up in the background and she has the dumbest expression on her face like "durrrrrrrrrrrrr....."

Limitless.

Pretty much sucked. Interesting concept, but they don't do much with it. And lame as hell how it jumps a year forward and ends abruptly.

they cant stay young and sexy forever but at least we still have that bondage porn she was in before she hit it big........magnificent nipples on that one.

funny enough helen mirren is fuckin smoking for an antique freak. i wouldnt mind dusting off her china cabinet.
Saw The Fighter this morning. Good flick, about what I expected. I really wanted to slap those ugly bitchy daughters, though.
that was way better than i expected it to ( i cant stand marky mark) but that other guy killed it as a junkie and yeah i wanted to slap them bitches too.

Guys. Watch Drive. In Theaters.

That was Christian Bale (Batman, among other roles). I think he won on Oscar for that performance.

I thought the movie was kind of boring.

The end fight wasn't exciting at all. It was just like...meh.

Yep. He won best supporting actor for it.

I tend to agree, though I liked the last fight.

I saw a prescreening of 50/50. What a fantastic movie! You'll laugh and cry, it really deserves that 93% rating on RottenTomatoes.

Watched Adjustment Bureau and Scream 4 last night. Both were better than I expected. Scream 4 surprised me for being a 4th movie and not being horrible. It was highly predictable though. Actually I found both of the movies very predictable. I could have used more of the running in A.B.

Watched Transformers 3 this weekend and have to admit, it wasn't good but still better than the 2nd one. Watched Paul too, it was ok but expected more from it with the cast it had.
Pulp Fiction.

Probably my favorite movie. Great to finally have it on Bluray. Looked great!
Is Jackie Brown out yet? That Blu is so overdue it's not even funny. And he still hasn't moved forward on The Whole Bloody Affair.

Drive - Really cool movie. A bit odd in some places, but overall great. The soundtrack is fantastic, but I find it extremely odd that they used a few tracks from The Social Network's score, and that Trent Reznor agreed to let them use them. You figure an Oscar winning score wouldn't appear in a completely different movie. Loved when Kavinsky's Nightcall blasted on screen during the title sequence.

The Ides Of March- Enjoyed it. Seems a little average until some twists start to pop up. Also I've got enough of my Gosling fix the last few months. I hope to not see him the next 6 months.

IMDB Top 250 Rundown:

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

It's a classic piece of animation that still holds up today. Touching, moving, and amazing in all the ways animation can be.

Monsters Inc.

This however is hilarious in all the ways that Nausicaa is serious. I know it's an oldie but it's going to hold up for many, many years. Much better than Toy Story 3, which was completely unnecessary to me in it's story setup. That ending sequence and John Goodman were both fantastic.
Green Lantern.

Made it about 20 minutes in and shut that shit off.
Surprisingly the last movie you saw did suck?

Is it really that bad?

Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Probably liked it a tad more than the 2nd. Just overlong with lots of crap in the first hour that could be cut. Solid action once it got going though.

The Interrupters.

Very good documentary about some Violence Interrupters working with the Chicago Ceasefire project.

Paused Thor and X-Men First Class, but have to say Thor's armor is just plastic. And that whole blue GIRL (X-Men movie now) at the fridge was dumb.

No wonder Marvel shat 4 movies out in one year. I don't think I can finish more than 10 minutes each.

My god, the last movie I really enjoyed was probably District 9. fucking Hollywood.

I enjoyed Thor even though it wasn't all that great, but why so critical about his armor that he only wears for 15 minutes of the whole movie?
saw the Fame remake on netflix last night and it was ok for a remake. liked some of the music too.
It's weird that the main girl was actually around 18 when she filmed the movie. She looks so much younger that I was a little creeped out by the scene with the older guy.
