Revamped story, revamped gameplay, updated graphics. There are new characters and everything.

I have not played the original either but this version looks a bit better IMO ;)

Original was one of the worst games of all time in terms of story, gameplay balance, etc. I'd definitely stay away from this until you see the reviews.

Hopefully they fixed the broken combat where a single person 3 or 4 levels higher could clear the entire map without getting hit a single time. Final Fantasy Tactics was superior in every way.

so what was the game called on the SNES and Playstation .... need to know if i already have this game :)

i ordered it for 37 in gold box but will probally cancell.. i can see this being in the buy1 get 1 free deal amazon runs alot.. or even falling to 20 to 30 bucks fast and Dragon quest 6 comes out a day before

and my orders right now

Dragon quest 6 paid using amazon credit FEB 14

Radiant Historia paid using gamestop credit feb 22

not realy sure if it be worth buying this game with 2 major rpg games coming back to back

The SNES version never hit the US. In Japan it had the same title as the remake.

On PS1 it was called Tactics Ogre

I really liked Tactics Ogre on the PSX (due to absolutely loving Ogre Battle SNES) but I have to agree with this post. It doesn't help that you can level up your whole party while training. Canopus by himself can clear most maps. That being said, this game is still a day one purchase for me. I enjoy leveling up the characters into different classes.

Final Fantasy Tactics is far superior in every way except I wish they would take a hint from Tactics Ogre an increase the party size and have larger maps.

Supposedly they have re-done almost everything in the game, so very little will remain of the original. I'm keeping my eye on it but I will no way buy this day one. Its niche enough to drop in price pretty fast.

Redoing is not always good... Lufia...

the lufia remakes still makes me cry :( i had high hopes for that game

Me too. Lufia 1/2 were amongst my favorite RPGs. I used to play through Secret of Mana every long break in school, and Lufia every summer. Ended up beating SoM about 10 times, and the Lufias about 5 times each.

Remake now with Tarot Cards for early adopters. :)

Tarot cards or EU limited edition... hmm

Don't even know if this game will be good, lol. The above posters made the original sound pretty bad. Why is it so praised by others?

Because it had a huge role in advancing the tactical RPG genre. It directly led to Final Fantasy Tactics.

Personally, I'm going for the EU version. The tarot deck seems like it's the major arcanas, judging by the count. If it was a full deck, I probably would have gone with the US version. That said, I do plan on taking down the US version eventually, just not at full price.

I liked the GBA one a LOT more than FFT. I remember liking this better when I rented it too, and this is a remake (of a remake) so....I'm hoping for the best :)

I want this badly but currently am planning on waiting on a price drop like I do with 90% of my games....but at the same time I am terrified since pretty much every Ogre game has risen not fallen in price!

Anyone know if a PSN version is planned? Also whats in the Euro CE release?

Edit - *just broke down and pre purchased with the guide* May still cancel it....but man as I said pretty much every TO has at least maintained price.

I would preorder it but I'm going to try and see if I can order it on the 15th with the Gamestop 10% off coupon that ends the same day...maybe not, but oh well :D

Amazon has their pre orders listed as coming with the Tarot cards. I doubt it is exclusive but I figured id mention it either way. As I said I was just looking at this as pretty much every Ogre game has held its price and this is an end of the PSP life span kind of game which means it probably will have a smaller print run. If I get burnt on it so be it, I am not buying to resell anyways(just trying to buy at lowest price).

I'm really tempted to get this also next week. My problem is that I have close to a dozen PSP RPGs to play through still but if I don't want to have to pay alot to play this in say 6 months. Look at Hexyz Force. That game isn't cheap. Glad I stil have a sealed copy :D

I doubt 6 months from now the price will be that different if different at all. My guess is we see this actually go on sale once or twice for $20-$30 and then it sells out or remains at its price with not big sales. Eventually it will sell out after a half year or more and from there we see the price slowly creep up to where used copies cost what new copies used to and new copies cost about $20-$30 more. However again this is all just a guess based on what previous TO games have done and the fact that this is a late cycle game. I could easily be wrong and really the market is harder then ever to predict. I probably would have waited a few months and tried to get a copy on sale for $20-$25 if possible, but I needed a new game to play in bed when my wife falls asleep anyways. We play KH BBS together every night for about an hour before bed but she always falls asleep an hour or two before me....and does not want me to advance the story. Now I can let her fall asleep and just switch games.

I disagree. It's a Square title, so unlike Hexyz Force etc, these will likely drop without going out of print. Just look at Final Fantasy Tactics on the PSP, for example.

The GBA one is a totally different game from this. Just a similar name

PSN review gave it a 9 out of 10. Only real complaint they had is you can't craft multiple items of an item at one time. Otherwise very good review.

Game informer gave it 9/10 as well.

As I said I would not be surprised if I was wrong, however for now ill keep on guessing the price eventually trickles up. Comparing it to FFT is not a good move since FF is a big popular franchise and many people own it. Meanwhile this is much more obscure but still has a pretty hardcore following. Like I said I totally would not be surprised if I was wrong though, recently I have gotten burned more then not.

Yeah, I didn't realize that until a month or so back when someone on here told me about that. I'd thought the GBA one was a port all that time!

I HOPE this is as playable, as I was able to finish and enjoy the GBA one, and it's VERY rare anymore that I don't quickly get stuck in S/RPGs. I really, really enjoy the genre when I can enjoy it, but 9/10 times I quickly get stuck :(
its not a sale price you got to worry about its the BUY2GET 1 free deals what im sure this will be a part of
If you want it I personally wouldn't risk that. Those are usually at the end of the year, so we're probably 8 months out from that, and it could be long gone by then. Hmm, maybe THAT'S the reason we're getting so many new games this time of year! ;)

IGN is the worst review I've seen so far at an 8.5

They say there's a lot of button commands that can get confusing. I'm eagerly awaiting this game and pretty much bought a PSP just for it as I'm a huge Quest, Ogre/Tactics fan. Ogre Battle is still my favorite SNES game of all time.

i think best buy has one comin up in mid march or april .. know for a fact there is one around easter (but by then the preorder cards will be long gone and might even be out of stock)

Dont know what im going to do yet... i might just keep it cause pokemon is getting a kmart promo..

the reviews are making the game look very good... this will probally be the final PSP game i get.. since the system is almost dead with the new one coming in nov 2011

I have to remember to try to use that 10% code at Gamestop.com tomorrow, during the one day the code works and the game is out!
Bleh, I just preordered it from Amazon despite not owning a PSP.

Hope I can find one of those cheap somewhere...
One day, you may find a PSP in great condition for a better price than Tactical Ogre PSP.

K-Mart had a $40 off sale a couple of weeks ago (I picked up a spare!) The bundles can be pretty cool some times, and sometimes get discounted where you can get them for cheaper than the base unit, though of course that's super YMMV. It's just $170-180ish I think though full price?

Umm...the Datenight code isn't working for me. I don't know why. It just says "Oops! Please correct the errors below to continue".

When I try to check out, it just says the code is invalid. I have Tactics Ogre and Ivy The Kiwi? in my cart.

Any ideas?

Did anyone else order this game from Amazon? The adhesive they used to attach the card box to the game was so sticky that it tore my box upon removal :(

I got mine off without ripping the box but it gunked the back of it up pretty bad. I am trying to file a complaint with Amazon in hopes they send a replacement, I suggest you do the same. Hopefully if enough of us complain about it they will 1. Never do something so stupid again and 2. Replace our pre order bonuses or give a small credit.

Thanks for the warning. I was able to slooowwly peel off all the adhesive without damaging the box. Pretty lame of them to use this kind of adhesive on a box like this, though.
I just rolled the adhesive off mine, didn't give much issue.
See I did the same and did not get a rip on my box, but it did gunk the hell out of it. It has like permanent marks under light that look like someone fingered it with oiled fingers.

Hm, mine isn't set to arrive until the 17th. But it's looking like it's likely I'm going to have this issue as well. I'm new to amazon in general, would you mind directing me to how I would file a complaint like this?

xD I hope that's someday soon, and not when there's an NGP4 out.
