This thread is for clearance-- not for sale items, or raincheck "scams." Price reductions for clearance seem to happen on Monday, although not every Monday. Target often donates its older clearance titles to Goodwill stores, so keep that in mind when you're trying to find items. Some info from BigDirty: "Further reduction is possible when a game's price ends with 8 cents. However, when it ends in 4 cents it will NOT drop anymore. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction."

When posting deals, please include city, state, store, game, system and price. For example:
Mesa, AZ Power Road at Superstition Springs
Super Soup Soufflé, Xbox 360, $4.98

Special thanks to Mephitical for this great tool for locating clearance titles which is located here. Go to Amazon or Target to find the item's ASIN. When you find it, replace "B000O3IS48" in the URL with your item's ASIN. This will take you to a page asking you for your zip code. Type in your zip code and click enter-- this will display a list of local stores and whether or not they have your item in stock. YMMV on it working properly.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance-- often games will not be tagged correctly. Thanks to BigDirty for this:
1) Go to Half.com or a similar site. Search for the game to locate its UPC code number. It's in the gray box underneath the box art graphic.
2) Go to UPC Data ,Milk.com , or UPC Database and enter the code so you can print out the UPC. Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts.

Remember, the lowest known price will be posted since the listed item could be higher or lower at your store. Here are the current deals:

I tried this, and the game really was at the end of the game section thiung marked as "clearance". The only problem was that the game still wasn't in thier system and when they try to ring it up, nothing appears at all, not even the $29.99 price.

I'm going to comer back tommorow and see if the price has been reduced.

Can't believe this is still going on. Look, the game is supposed to be $29.99. The label it's probably sitting in front of is accurate - Ghost Squad/Garfield for $29.99. It's supposed to be an assortment. When a register employee encounters this, they should have someone in electronics find a DCPI for the item to manually type in. The DCPI is conveniently on the label.

This whole problem stems from this stupid end-cap that had value games arriving in shippers. Apparently, the games were supposed to have been re-tagged with a semi-generic "value" UPC, but they were not. That's why half the games ring up as clearance (pretty stupid for a store to receive clearance, no?). Anyway, most of the games just ring up as the last clearance price, which is only marginally below the shelf tag of $29.99. Some are $29.98 or 24.98, and I think a couple go as low as $14.98.

This whole thing is only a problem in the case of Ghost Squad, since it was offered online and not in stores prior to coming in on this end-cap. When an online only item is returned to a store, it usually gets an as-is sticker that discounts it between 30% and 50% so the stores can hurry up and get it out of the building. The people that are getting Ghost Squad cheap are meeting employees that are in this online return mindset, when the issue in fact that the product has the wrong UPC. It just doesn't help that this wrong UPC tells them it's an online return.

So, to everyone scoring on this mistake, congratulations. To everyone else, try not to be too upset that the employees did their jobs.
 
I snagged a copy of the supposedly craptastic Bionicle Heroes for the 360 for $3.74. It's been around for a while because it still was marked 50%. :D
 
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (XBox 360) Limited edition was marked down to $29.XX @ both targets in Pensacola, FL. They were clearly red-tagged showing the clearance price and they rung up at that price; they're located in the clearanced section of the electronics section.
 
I found Ghost Squad at 2 of 3 Targets I searched at Today. The first one had none, the second one had 2 - but did not ring up with the price and management refused to sell the items at any costs. The last had 2 copies and luckily one had the "as-is" sticker on it for $12.46. Not as good as the $9.98, but good enough. Snagged them both up. There is one more Target in the nearby area I will probably hit up soon, but not tonight. I scanned the back of the game to show the "as-is" sticker to others, however I don't see any (quick/easy/lazy) way to load it into my post and I'm too tired to try and find a free service to post, but if someone wants/needs it PM me and I'll find a way to get it done.

well...pretty much everything I wanted rang up at 29.xx. My target has like 10 tony hawks too...On top of that, I find some games not in the system anymore and the manager wouldn't let me get them period.

I never have luck at targets.

For us who still have high clearence prices, when can we expect another price drop?

Has Cooking Mama for the Wii hit a permanent universal drop? I noticed the Target closest to me moved all of their copies to the "discount" games isle marked $29.99 (not the clearance endcap).

Yea I got that same response from my two targets..." It's a target.com only item"...yet how did it end up in the store, or tags and endcap placement made for it for that matter?

I am very surprised people just away with this with no argument from the employees what so ever. My tagets just rudely snatched it from me when I tried to buy one.

Found two copies at the Mishawaka, IN Target. They showed up as being out of the system, and the employees offered it to me at 19.99. Decided to pass and wait on the eventual price drop, and the House of the Dead game.

Strangely enough, the PoP:RS Wii game was not in their system either. The price changing team lead tried investigating it and I think she said it was 29.99 on-line via her LRT (wow those things have advanced since I have worked there long ago), punched a few keys and her portable printer printed out 7.48 for PoP. Aww...

Mine in Thompsam Maine rang up as out of the system but they called electronics and gave it to me for $9.98. Great game, makes me look forward to the House of the Dead package even more.

whoa the target i went to had the most incompetent employees. the electronics department was ran by a group of three slackers. they rang up the game and were puzzled and just suggested $50. so i took them where i got it. ghost squad/garfield is supposed to be a bundle for $30, so to be fair it should be half $15 or below. on the way back to the register, this lady stopped them and asked if she could get a game from the case. out of all the electronics guys, "who the hell's got the key?"

they got all excited and were planning to horde some other clearance games that they didn't know existed. after i got the manager, he claimed that there is no way a wii game, god forbid, would be sold at target for under $20. i think as CAGs, we all know this is bullshit. it's a fuckin retail store not a goddamn craigslisting.

oh I did get it for 7.46. It's in my hands right now. :|
 
The employee at my target scanned the game about 10 times, and then said "since its not in the system either the game isn't out yet or we aren't supposed to sell it" So ya, I'll have to go back when a different employee puts it back out, since til about a week ago they still had halo 3 pre-order freebies out on the shelf.
 
Some one tried picking up Ghost Squad and PoP but PoP came up as target.com only and GS was not on file. So they looked at the reg priced games and offered the game for 39.99. I did not see who it was. Was it a fellow CAG?

I was listening to the banter on a walkie but the games ended up on a counter at guest services.
 
If anyone in the Costa Mesa area is looking for Ghost Squad, I hid a copy in the clearance section in electronics behind a group of copies of Fly Fusion software. The game is marked with an "as is" sticker for $12.46.
