Target has unveiled their exclusive individually numbered Iron Man 2 3-Disc BD.

Target rep officially says it's "not a Steelbook, but could be an IronPack or MetalPak". No clue what those are but still looks pretty wicked.
Some legal nonsense that we're not allowed to host ads on the site. You can link to them, though.
Oh ok. Makes sense (I guess...)

so.. I have good news and I have bad news...

bad news is that my local target got a new front end manager... and she barely speaks english.
good news is, I got my metal case for $24.99

So here's how it went.

I had a 3 hour lab this morning from 8:40-11:40, so I figured I'd dart to target after that class, price match and pick it up and go back for my next class. My lab ended up getting out 2 hours early, so I got there in time for the two hour window (in case they pulled that card). I got into target, and the regular employee knew that I wanted the movie, so I went in her cart and I couldn't find the metalpack version. I asked her and she wasn't sure so she grabbed her gun and said they didn't receive them yet. I explained to her that I wanted to price match best buy's ad and she said it wouldn't be a problem, but just to come back later on once they got them in (around 3-4). So I left.

I decided that I would go back after my 2:50-4:10 class ended. I get there, asked the guy for it (assuming they got it in) and he grabbed it from behind the counter, they didn't even put it on the shelf. The employee ended up being really cool and he told me about how he worked at circuit city, etc, etc and didn't even think twice about shooting down my price match. But he did tell me to go to CS to get it. So I go to customer service and who's standing there? The same woman that gave me Monsters Inc and Up for $6.xx earlier in the year. I thought to myself, great, this'll be a breeze. So I gave her the ad, she acknowledged the $21.99 price and grabbed a target ad. I thought to myself, shit, they're gonna figure out what I'm doing here. So she grabs it, and what is she concerned with? The $5 off promotion where if you buy IM2 and another movie you get $5 off, so she calls the front end manager up. In comes this short spanish woman, who I was hoping wouldn't really take note of anything either, which she didn't... except for that stupid ass promotion on the same page. So she goes oh well theres a promotion attached with the movie so I don't think I can do it, let me go ask the manager. I stopped her and politely explained the promotion to her, since I guess I know more than a front-end manager does, and told her that I just wanted to match the price. She leaves to go ask the manager. She comes back and says that the $21.99 price was only valid for the first 2 hours of being open, and continued to ask "SO WHY YOU COME IN MIDDAY TO GET DIS!?!" (sounded just like that). So I explained to her that I was there at 9:40 this morning but they didn't have it, she rolled her eyes at me and insisted that all versions of the new releases are on shelves every tuesday morning. I just told her that I wanted to match the $24.99 price that I could go pick it up for at best buy right now, so she leaves again to consult the manager. She's gone for 5 minutes or so, comes back and says "OK! $24.99! BUT NO GIFT CARD!" I sat there saying to myself, what the fuck is she talking about.... and even the employee rolled her eyes and said "who knows." But I did get it for $24.99, so that was good. Got home, opened it up, and one of the plastic pieces that holds the discs is broken, so the thing slides all over. Called up, they had one left and its on hold for me to swap out.

Needless to say, I'm pretty happy to get it for $24.99, even though it took a little fighting!

EDIT:

Spoiler tagged so it doesn't rape your page

First Target I went to the guy was a d-bag and wouldn't price match it for me cuz it's a Target Exclusive.

Second Target the girl said the computer wouldn't let her do it. So a manager came over and did it manually.

So I got it for $24.99.

I got #1 out of 3000 btw. Jus playin, #29,767.

the one I have right now is #6,500.

but I'm getting a replacement when I go there tonight

God, I'm getting really sick and tired of these shitty security tags. They do not come off clean and you have to use an adhesive like tape to pull off the residue. Even then, it doesn't get everything and you end up scratching the plastic if you try to scrape the shit off. I'd use some goo gone, but that makes it worse in my experience since it just smears it all over.

DISTRIBUTORS: use the god damn slender black tags instead of this garbage. Kthnx.

i wouldve been able to price match...except the fact that I have to bring out an ACTUAL ad and not the printed ad online. fml.

so hard nowadays without getting a daily newspaper :(

Went to two targets and did not find any SB's. Didn't see any signs about no PM for it. Honestly I am happy to have the DVD included as I can now put it on my zune :)

Yeah, Target is completely strict about online ads because they can't verify the start and end dates of a sale.

Yea it's a pain to PM with and without the paper. Heck when I PM once with the ad, it was scrutinized from top to bottom. the CSR said, we can't PM for a different week even though it was for the current week, another CSR said, we need the full AD. I had the full ad in my hands!!!

So I'm not sure if you guys are having any problems with the metal packs having broken hinges or not but apparently it's a major problem according to my local manager that I spoke to tonight.

When I went to get my replacement, they had the last one at the customer service desk waiting for me. I decided to open it before I even took one step away from the counter. I opened it up and behold, a broken piece of plastic on the top hinge, providing the same problem that I had with my first one. Not only that, but the back of the case had a HUGE dent, spanning across the entire width of the back of the case. That alone made me tell them to keep it, since my initial case doesn't have any dents, just a piece of plastic on the hinge is broken.

On another note, my store only got 6 of them and they sold all of them.

This morning, I forgot to bring the AD, so I saw another customer brought in for pm. I asked the cashier for pm with the ad on the counter and she said no cuz they have to keep on file. I'm like fuck that and bought @ full price then went to Best Buy to grab the ad and walk down to another Target for pm.
What happended to the picture I posted for the Best Buy October 3rd ad??? :???:
It was SHRIKEn from the record ;)

well lets hope they wont recognize the difference between both ironman movies.

Hopefully I get lucky....again!!!!

although the lady said i could've gone to walgreens across the street to get a ad but i was in a rush for a free screening of the social network.

Then I opened my Resident Evil steelbooks and was sad how crappy the iron pack is by comparison lol.

she? hahahahaha.

and yea, I know what you mean :\
I got the DB price as well! I got to Target at 8:00 a.m. and went straight to CS because I never PM'd anything with Target and asked what the policy was. Told me to just come back with the ad and receipt by Saturday and they would PM no problem. Since I did not have the BB ad with me I just paid the full price since I knew I could get the difference back later. After I got home I figured I'd better take care of this right away so was back to Target by 9:30 a.m. and saw the same CS rep that I talked to earlier and she did the $22.00 price for me since I talked to her earlier. Thrilled beyond repair I left a happy camper. (I actually bought 4 copies for friends/gifts so it was much more sweeter). In the meantime on my home back home I got a call from a co-worker to ask how I made out and asked me if I wouldn't mind going back and picking up a copy for her son which I did. Now, here is the kicker, by 10:00 a.m. Target must have gotten wind of the PMing going on and put a stop to it. When I went back to electronics there was a handwritten sign saying that "No price matching will be accepted for the Iron Man 2 Target Exclusive". I went back up and saw the same CS rep again to see if she could push another one through for me. The same sign was at the CS desk as well. I asked her about it and she said they got a call from corporate and were told not to accept anymore price matching for that particular set since it was their exclusive. I went to another Target a few miles away and they were told the same thing. I guess they figured out they were loosing quite a few bucks on this one! At least $12.00 a pop at the $24.99 price.
lol at the handwritten sign...they probably suspected you of being an El Hoardo after buying so many copies and contacted corporate to put a lockdown on the PMs.
Just finished watching it. At the very end of the scene, is that Thor's Hammer?

Pretty much when the douchebag at my theater screamed "PLEASE GOD LET IT BE A HAMMER!!!" it pretty much spoiled it.

best buy 3 disc non-steelbook

If both had the same cover art, then yea it would be super easy to PM for the SB... but unless the CSR is blind and dumb as dirt, there is no way they should do this.

However from what I have been hearing, a lot of people are saying that their steelbooks are broken inside. Hmm does target do recalls?

The case also comes predented cause they squeeze into those security cases. Honestly, collecting this POS is not worth it. It's a mediocre movie with crappy packaging and way too expensive.

My store had them on the shelf without a security case. If you got a PM to the BB doorbuster sale, then I hardly consider $22 for a 3-disc iron pack on day of release expensive. Especially when you consider that the original movie has never fallen below $15 on Amazon for just a two-disc special edition (no DVD+digital version).

Nice try, though.

I somewhat agree. I hear about these claims that it has terrible hinges on an ugly spine, a glued on lenticular front and the price (before a pricematch) is one of the worst prices for an exclusive I've seen.

I was also hoping it'd be a little more dynamic in the cover art, but it's just pictures of the suits. For 22 I'd possibly get it, but by no means should people support the 37 dollar trend for just a metal case... that spells bad news for the future of hard case exclusives, which I am a big fan of.

Yea it is a good deal considering they are jacking up these prices for the BR/DVD/DC combos these days... Good lord have you seen what they are charging for PoP!?!?!?

I'm not pay more than 25 bucks for a blu ray movie... Nor will I pay 3x.xx for a steelbook anymore.

Yeah, if you want to go through the shenanigans of PMing two different products, then sure. Why don't you say, you could just steal it, then it's free, nice try. This movie was asstastic in either case, but most people here have compulsive shopping problems to begin with, so that's probably a non-issue.

If you hate the movie so much, why are you even in this thread reading about it? I happened to really enjoy it.
so any in-hand pictures of the target exclusive edition?
My Target price matched w/o any issue. Just told them that in the Best Buy ad had the 3-disc BLU/DVD/DIGITAL version advertised for $24.99 and showed them the ad.

Do anyone have a PM'd metalpak they're willing to sell?I will pay for the movie plus any shipping on it because any Target I have went to either refused to PM or had already sold out.

Holy crap! #2?!? That's awesome! I didn't really want this set but if I had seen #2 or close to it in-store, I'd have bought it. You have excellent luck.

I'd rather have #30,000 TBH. After all, it's the last one ever made.

I would imagine #1 and #30,000 had already been taken by insiders before the products left the distributor.

and 69.

no but someone on the blu-ray forums already got their hands on #1 located in NC.

Don't see this turning out rare, I'm sorry. I was in three Targets today, they had roughly 15 copies each store on the shelf and it was packed tight so there could be more out back. One store might have sold one from what I could tell...

It's are that a steelbook turns out to be "rare" all the expensive ones on ebay can still be bought in my area at FYE, Bestbuy, Target etc.

my BB still has hurt locker steels, nobody in my area cares about steelbooks like me, i MIGHT pick one up if i can see that i can resell it for double what i paid for.

steelbooks are purty. what other ones have you seen locally, styl3s?

With Iron Man, I think it's all about finding the lowest number. I don't see these being rare.
