Target has unveiled their exclusive individually numbered Iron Man 2 3-Disc BD.

Target rep officially says it's "not a Steelbook, but could be an IronPack or MetalPak". No clue what those are but still looks pretty wicked.
Success! Got $5+tax back after pmed. :applause:
Same here! Not bad getting a $37.00 exclusive for 17.00 when all was said and done. I don't think I'll push my luck when "Toy Story 3" comes out though.

FLOL I had to go to three Targets this morning to get it, but they were all on the way to my office so I didn't have to go out of my way, just waste an extra 15-20 minutes or so. First two didn't have any of the Target steelcase exclusives, I assumed because these were ghetto-ish stores that didn't receive many copies, or perhaps had pulled whatever copies they had from the shelves to try to avoid people attempting to PM them this week or whatnot. The employees I had asked just said "nah we sold out of that one cuz it's limited". I did get a bit worried that people had bought them all out after the second store was empty, though.

Third store had a good dozen, I took a copy up to the front because the media checkout guy said he "couldn't PM that much of a price difference without a manager - just take it to the front checkout lines", so the front checkout lady tried to get a manager, couldn't locate him/her. Instead she asked her buddy and her buddy said "make sure it's the same version like they (management, I presume) said" and my checkout girl said "yeah it's the 3 disc one".

Boom she even entered the price incorrectly at $19.00 flat instead of $19.99. I was somewhat tempted to clean them out and throw them on amazon/ebay, but it looks like they're priced starting around $40-45 and probably not selling well at that price point since at 30K units they're hardly uncommon...so not really worth it. No good numbers at this location either, looks like SoCal got the middle of the road between 9,000 and 15,000 as I saw a mix in between.

EDIT: I just checked the online stock, and only a couple of stores in SoCal seem to have it at this point, so get it now if you want it!

And how did you get it for $17? Did you PM the WalMart early online price glitch?

Opps. Meant to say $20.00. I was figuring the $21.99 from day 1 and then another $5.00 off of that but was really only $2.00.

LOL no worries. And Incredipinoy, you're up around the Valley? I picked it up at the Culver City store on Jefferson near Overland. They were out at the La Brea and La Cienega stores. I think they also have some left according to the online tracker at the Inglewood location near Hollywood Park.
My Target had one left tonight... but I was like... $36? F that.

How are people getting it cheaper?
I'd imagine it was price matching last week's ad. But if someone else knows another way, heck I'd listen.

pricematch BB's ad. :)

I got it for $26.xx

I was able to price match with BB ad today for $20 but when I opened it the flipper was broken off. I tried to put superglue but it didn't work. Will try to exchange it tommorow.

a piece of rice should work.

Guys, we're PMing it with the CURRENT Best Buy ad, which has the IM2 3-disc combo advertised for $19.99 (plus tax). Obviously these are not the same versions and have different UPCs/SKUs, thus it's YMMV but with the "quality" of Target employees, it shouldn't be that difficult to succeed.

Was able to walk up to customer service today and price match the current Best Buy ad to get the "SteelBook" for $19.99, employee called manager over, but they never came, so she said "whatever, it looks the same." :bouncy:

Look like HK & Taiwan G2 SteelBook are oop now. Korea hasn't released yet, so I have 3% gold permanent discount @ korean site and I'm getting this for $36.85 + shipping.

Initially wasn't going to bother with this release but decided to try to get one today with the BB PM

Ended up having to buy it straight up for 37 bucks, took it and the BB ad to another store and PM'd it without too much fuss.

CSR refunded too much apparently as it ended up costing me 18.02 w/tax...not complaining though

Got a middle # in the 14k range

I did the same except the manager came over and tried to tell me that the Target one was different because it said it has 3 bonus hours of extras. I politely told her that all of the blu's have the extras. I was waiting for her to mention the steel book, but she said it was okay. The register girl was shocked that they would price match something that was $17 less. Good for me, bad for Target.
Holy crap! #2?!? That's awesome! I didn't really want this set but if I had seen #2 or close to it in-store, I'd have bought it. You have excellent luck.
My OCD kicked in and went back to Target this weekend and asked the customer service manager to have my Ironman 2 Metalpak be placed in their security plexi glass. Got it now fully secured!

how are you going to unlock this thing?

Sadly both of the Targets around here won't price match, and I personally can not justify spending $37 on it. But I have a felling that if I wait I'll be able to grab one of them on clearance in the near future. Both the Targets in my area seem to have a lot of these still in stock. I guess the $10+ price difference for a metal case isn't that appealing to people around here. :p

Not only that, but it's not really good, at all. I paid retail on it, and it has a lenticular cover that looks glued permanently. I don't want that on my case! It's just not high quality, and definitely not worth what I paid for it.

I tried to price match, but it says Target Exclusive on the front, and if it's an exclusive they can't match because it's not the "same" item. Believe me, I tried the whole "It's the same content" argument, but the fact is the person I spoke with realized the case wasn't universal.

This #d LE set that I have is so precious. Given that this is Iron Man 2, its #d and the number that I got is "2" which is perfectly matching 2 (being Part 2 of the Iron Man movie).

No, I will NOT OPEN my set it will remain sealed, and Target security sealed (I went back to have it resealed in that security case).

That's right. I used the old harddrive part to unlock this thing.

Well, at least yours wasn't broken upon purchase (got it for Christmas.... and yeah).

One of the disc holders broke a hinge.

that was a serious issue with a very good amount of them. mine is broken too :\

Xage sold his for a million dollars and has retired to a private island in the South Pacific. Either that or the oxidation got to his number 2 copy and he's ended up like that guy who steps on his glasses in that Twilight Zone episode where he's the last man on earth and all he wants to do is read. ;)
Wow. not even a year and my fucking steelbook case has started to rust where the serial number is etched. fucking stupid oxidation.
wait what? steelbooks rot?

Man that sucks. I hate it when the contents of a sealed DVD / Blu-ray are broken upon arrival. I just took a look at my case; It's not a "steelbook" case. Some other company, which is probably why this fucker is rusting. None of my other steelbooks are rusting, so why this one?
wait what? steelbooks rot?
Yes, they rot. Every man-made thing ever created is prone to rotting/withering away eventually. I just never expected something like this Iron Man 2 Blu-ray disc set to start oxidizing so soon. Then again, since this particular product wasn't manufactured by the Steelbook company, I'm guessing that this other company's materials and techniques for making packaging aren't as well polished as the Steelbook company's.
