on my cellphone typing this excuse the grammar. was at target and was told kindle fire being clearanced out starting tomorrow.

Edit:
Not all Targets are notified of the clearance yet. I been to 2 and only 1 of them confirmed the clearance. They will drop like the video game clearances (30%, 50%, 70%-75%). I highly doubt it will go to 50% since its all over the news right now that Target will no longer be carrying amazon's e-reader products (I did not ask about the other kindles but I assume they will be clearing out too).

My store still has a ton of them but I had a manager nice enough to reserve one for me for 24 hours.
I just want a kindle for the free monthly book rental.
The selection of free books really isn't that great.

talked to the manager ... target doesnt plan to clearance out the kindle till after mothers day . they expect to sell plenty of kindles that week leading up to mothers day . plenty of kindle sales on their ad.

Yeah, that figures. Wonder what the advertised prices will be on the various Kindles this week? Most likely it appears that the bulk of stores won't begin clearancing them, if they even do at all, until May 13th or 14th.

I think he is referring to the prime lenders library, which is also not that great, but has a few bestsellers on it.

But now you can also get a ton more free if your public library supports overdrive lending.
I think that was a joke, my friend. ;)

As for my Target, there's currently no orders to clearance out our Kindles. Go figure.

I was working this morning, if you're wondering.
Same. x2

Really?! Check the target clearance thread. I believe my post is on the first page with pics and receipt. I clearly bought amazon kindle cards for 50% off right before black Friday. Never is a strong word, careful when you use it
And no, Target never clearances out GiftCards, NEVER. I don't care what anyone says in this thread, ive worked at Target for 7 years and last 3 in electronics, Giftcards get destroyed if they no longer will be sold.
That's basically what I've been saying. Kindles of all varieties are still selling very well so why would they clearance these unless they had to? In fact I'll go as far as to say that with Mother's Day coming up ANY Target that has already started a clearance cycle has some pretty terrible management.

this seems like more of a discussion thread than a actual deal thread. but anyway i checked both my targets and they were still the same price and had plenty in stock

eh no deal but my mom wanted one anyway so i just got it at Best buy for reward points. I did find a clearance copy of Dream Trigger 3D for 5 bucks though.

I'm not sure if I should put the money on one of these. I tried the display model at Target last night, and it froze on me instantly.

That ain't my pic, but I also found both the $25 and the $50 Kindle giftcards (good for anything on amazon) last year on clearance at a couple of Targets for half off. Some had reported them 30% off, and some at 50% off.

My Target was all out of Fires. Had a bunch of the wi-fis, but every employee denied a clearance.

I'd like to have one of these, but I won't lose any sleep if I miss out.

at my stores we have plenty of fire's but i've heard nothing yet so far about them going to clearance. Sometimes items arent on clearance at EVERY target or if it is on clearance it might not be the same price at every target either. Then again sometimes i dont get told about some stuff i should know. Also that article that got posted here was put up YESTERDAY. U guys are way too impatient. Im just glad i have the weekend off so i dont have to deal with all of this chaos.

I wouldn't mind snagging one as a gift for someone, but I think I'll wind up being happy that I spent $140 on a Fire yesterday. I've got a Touchpad, but the future for that is fairly bleak right now, and it sucks to not be able to access the Amazon app store on it for the free app of the day.

Dude, I'm on my TouchPad right now. Cyanogenmod 9 ICS is very stable and usable. I can't remember the last time I booted into webOS, and I have full access to both the Google Play market and Amazon app store. I love it!

Do it. Camera and microphone still don't work, but I haven't had any other issues with it at all.

I smiled when I read this. I too am using my Touchpad with Cyanogen 9 ICS. Best $150 I ever spent.

does the Amazon app store still not prompt for a password like Apple's app store? That's one of the main reasons I returned my Fire. It was for my kids to use a lot of the time and there was no way to stop them from buying every app under the sun. I assume an OS update has fixed this.

What is the actual price of the amazon fire after the 30% clearance? There's nothing about what target actually sells it for it in the op.
I'm afraid of messing up the Touchpad trying to install that though.
Don't worry. It is extremely easy. Just follow this excellent tutorial:
http://www.webosnation.com/how-install-cyanogenmod-9-android-your-touchpad

I followed this tutorial a few days ago and everything went perfect

Yup, I'm running cm9 alpha 2 on mine.

The Kindle Fire is $199 @ Target, 30% drops it to $140 plus tax. I'll bite for that, can't imagine it'll make it to 50%. If it does I'd bite again ;)

Oh yeah, don't forget your red card and drop it another 5%.
Has anyone scored one yet? Fire for 150 is a deal for me.
Yeah good thing I got in on the price mistake last fall for $129.

However we do use it quite a bit. It flips between that and the Nook for us.

Program works great and does not allow them to access anything outside of the main app.

The iOS store prompts me every time I download anything if I haven't logged in within the last 10 minutes or so. Amazon store as far as I know doesn't ask but you can put them on a different amazon account without cc info.

There was a new Kindle Fire update yesterday that added parental controls.
It was my one big issue with the device (besides lack of bluetooth).
You can now have it prompt for password when buying something and even restrict web access.

The last two updates to the Fire has really made it an amazing product in my eyes.
And this is coming from an iPad 3 owner.

Is this only for the Fire or are they clearing out all models?

Edit: Called my local store they have not clearanced them, yet they stated all were pulled from the website as Target did't renew their contract with Amazon.

I have been WAITING for this feature ever since I bought one for my 8 year old son. THANK YOU AMAZON!

Most stores might not clearance until Monday. Now I just need to decide between this, the nook color, playbook,or galaxy tab 2. :(

Or the much rumored often delayed Google Asus Nexus Play stripped down MeMO replacement thats due any day now. Really, it is.

That's honestly what I want, but I could technically get the fire or color for only 125. Not sure if it's worth the hassle though.

Again, you guys can post all the pictures you want, it was obviously a mistake with the clearance of those Amazon giftcards. Tell me, have you ever bought other clearance giftcards from Target? Nope.

Give a rest buddy. You were obviously wrong. Move along, move along...

Do as the smiley does. :ziplip:

I'm locking this thread for now, if this deal or something similar goes live PM me, to re-open it. All I can say is I'm sorry for the false info, and the manager at my store might had given me info that was correct at the time (Wednesday afternoon) but Target corporate had halted and decided not to do it right now. Guess I will stick to posting online deals for now.:ziplip:
