Charlotte seemed to have the best draft of anyone. They got a big they didn't expect to be there and Hairston would have been a lottery pick if he wasn't hanging out with a dude named Fats.

Broussard said during draft that Love said he would sign long term with Cleveland if Lebron was coming. Ball is in your court Lebron. Pick out of Wade/Bosh, Harden/Dwight, Irving/Love.

The Nets have given Milwaukee permission to speak with Jason Kidd after Kidd demanded to be the Nets' head of basketball operations and the Nets said no.
Guy has a decent second half of his first season and suddenly he believes he deserves more? Sheeeeeeeeeit.

It's funny that they gave the Bucks permission to talk to him because everyone knows he doesn't want to be in Milwaukee, they're just putting him back in his place.

Suns plan to go after LeBron and Melo. Probably won't happen, but that would be a very interesting team to watch.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/suns-to-pursue-lebron-james--carmelo-anthony-with-offer-for-them-to-play-together-163546302.html

The Suns have $33.5 million in salary-cap space and could shed the next $10 million needed to sign James and Anthony to maximum contracts without unloading the young core of guards Eric Bledsoe and Goran Dragic and center Miles Plumlee that pushed the franchise to 48 victories in the Western Conference last season.
Bledsoe - Dragic - LeBron - Melo - Plumlee would be a great starting 5

Kidd is going to the Bucks. As compensation, the Nets will get the Bucks' second round picks in 2015 and 2019.

I kind of feel bad for Larry Drew. The story I read said the Milwaukee ownership hadn't communicated with him at all about any of this over the past several days.

Nets are reportedly looking at Lionel Hollins as their new coach.

If you're the Bucks, what exactly is your thought process here?

I also heard about the same thing about the Bucks not communicating with either the coach OR the GM...that they basically both learned about this as we did...

^Bucks were thinking that KIdd's wife is smoking hot. So, let's see if we can trade for him and give him a pay raise. :whistle2:

In reality, Kidd probably had a close relationship with the Bucks owner and that sealed the deal.

Wade can earn himself a ton of respect if he goes the route that Duncan went, and that Dirk is likely to go, and that's signing for $8-12 mil a year to help the team (assuming Wade is interested in staying and retiring in Miami) with some cap room. Yeah those guys are a few years older than Wade, but in no way he can say he means more or contributed as much as those guys did to their respective teams. With his injury woes, he's less reliable than them both even at that younger age. It'd be the right thing to do. If he gets all Kobe on them and asks to be paid for what has done already, I'd lose a good deal of respect for him.

Love what Kobe has done in the game, for the game, and what he means to the league...but when you insist on being the highest paid player at age 37 because of what you did in the past, it's really hard to admire. I'd hate to see Wade go that way.

Kyrie Irving has signed a 5 year/$90 million extension with Cleveland. I always got the impression that he'd bolt with the first chance he got, but maybe he knows something we don't.

I think most of us got that kind of impression, but he still would have been a restricted free agent. He basically had to choose between $90 million or pick up a 1 year option to become an unrestricted free agent in 2 years. A lot can happen in 2 years so it makes sense he signed the extension. Look at Rose, looked great in his first 3 years and now his career is in jeopardy. Even if you hate the place you work at, $90 million is a lot to walk away from.

John Canzano of The Oregonian is reporting that the Miami big 3 are signing deals with Miami at different lengths.

"Chris Bosh 5 year deal will return to Heat, per source. Dwyane Wade will re-sign for 4 years in Miami.'"

"LeBron James wants short term (1-2 year deal) at max money contract w Heat, source close to negotiation tells me."

"Chris Bosh’s 5-year deal with Miami expected to start at $11 million in year 1. Dwyane Wade will sign four years, $12 million in year 1"

If Wade and Bosh have bottom-heavy contracts, it would be difficult for the Heat to re-sign James, or anyone else at max, in a few years.  It would also make it difficult to trade them down the road, Wade more than Bosh.  I would suspect this will more than likely be Wade's last contract.

LMAO the Pistons just signed Jodie Meeks to a 3 year $19 million deal

SVG with the Joe Dumars like signing

Yet everybody and their mothers said for months that he hated being in Cleveland so much that he wouldn't sign a max extension to force a trade or whatever or ridiculous thing they wanted to happen.

The Pistons needed 3 point shooting more than any team in the NBA. They got a solid 3 point shooter. 6.33 million a year for something they desperately needed isn't a terrible signing.

Anthony Morrow is the guy who the Pistons should have gone after.
He's two years older and can't do anything but shoot 3s. Meeks is a better ball handler, can attack the basket a bit, and plays at least some defense. It's not like Meeks is chopped liver from 3, and their True Shooting percentages are dead even for their careers. Additionally, because Morrow is so limited defensively and offensively, he's probably capped at 20-25 minutes a game. Meeks can play 30+ minutes and not be a drain. Morrow probably wanted 5+ million a year in his meeting with Detroit, so why not go with the more complete and younger player?

I had no idea Morrow was looking for that kind of money. I figured he could be had for 3 years at 10-12 million.

Celtics re-sign Avery Bradley, 4 year $32 million. A bit much imo, but it looks like specialists are getting paid this year

Agreed. I take back any comments I made yesterday. It looks like this is going to be a crazy FA market. Lots of players are going to get paid.

Salary cap is expected to skyrocket over the next few years. New TV deal is going to increase league wide revenues significantly and that is what the salary cap is tied to.

Stuff about to go down. The whole Melo wearing Lin's # thing blew up a bit, Rockets with the failed damage control

Adrian Wojnarowski ‏@WojYahooNBA 17m
Houston pre-informed Jeremy Lin of the use of his No. 7 on 'Melo recruiting images, source tells Yahoo Sports.

Spoke to Lin's agents, Jim Tanner/Roger Montgomery, who say that Houston did NOT inform Lin that the No. 7 would be used for Melo images.

I'm surprised the Rockets are even pretending to care. It is obvious to the avg NBA fan that they cannot wait to get rid of him.

I thought the Lakers putting up billboard for Dwight Howard to resign were sad but photoshopping a free agent in your team's jersey along with the championship trophy is straight up pathetic.

Spurs have brought back Patty Mills on a 3 year deal reportedly for $12 million total. He's going to miss a good chunk of the season, but its a lot better than the Meeks deal. Plus Mills has been dealing with that shoulder problem throughout the season and he still played pretty well. Could even call it a steal considering how players getting paid this year

That's a nice price for a guy like Mills. They're in the mix for Pau Gasol as well. Making the right moves to defend that title.

Also, Lance Stephenson turned down a 5yr/44mil deal to return to the Pacers. Hornets, Bulls and Lakers are all interested now according to Chris Broussard

Second also, Melo is in Dallas this very moment! Spent 6 hours in Houston today. He won't be in Dallas long as he has a flight to catch tonight that'll land him in LA for tomorrow's meeting with the Lakers.
