Can I use the $5 monthly coupon on gift cards?

Yes you can in store but not online please note not all gift cards will apply to this rule.

I have a $XX.xx pre-owned reward certificate, and I want to use it on a B2G1 transaction. Should I?
It depends. If the three games are equal value, do not use your certificate. The value of the certificate would be applied to the free game, which would not benefit you. If one game is more expensive, you can use the certificate to make it the same value as the other two games ($5 reward certificate applied to transaction with two $10 games and one $15 game would make all three games $10).

TERMINOLOGY AND LINGO:
ASL/SL: Assistant Store Leader, Store Leader; manager positions at GS.
B2G1: Buy two, get one free.
GS: GameStop
JD: Junior detective, an employee who is out to get someone
LP: Loss Prevention; this is the department that actually bans accounts after being flagged.
TC/TiC: Trade credit.
TIV/TV: Trade in value, or what a game currently trades for. When posting a TV for a game, always use the base value.

Bought a "new" copy of a game in-store, decided to return it, but because it didn't have the sticker on it and wasn't shrink wrapped the employee refused to allow me to return it and essentially accused me of lying when I said that's how I bought it.

Will CS be of any help?
The worst part is the hypocrisy!

So I just left the store after asking about trading in my switch. When I asked if there are any promotions she said 40% for trading it in toward switch games. Is this accurate, because the fine print on the tag only mentions games. I clarified with her twice and she said yes every time.

The only promotion running currently (5/26/25) for consoles is "get 20% extra trade credit." she's mistaken

There is a store near me with an SL who has been around for 10+ years and has worked in almost every store within 45 min driving distance. She still doesn't know how the promos work. The other day I traded in some retro systems and was talking to the other guys there about the 20% boost being the whole reason. She still tried to "check for a better deal" for me, although she never actually input anything.

I also watched as she tried to input a Gamecube system through TruBuy about 5 times, noting the controller defective for a tiny bit of thumbstick discoloration, and it getting rejected each time. She could not put it together that the defect was why it would not go through, and ultimately rejected the otherwise perfect system.

That's nuts. I guess keep expectations low and find yourself pleasantly surprised when people don't disappoint. But if I were to give up a better deal for the 40% bonus. That's when it would actually be upsetting. Why can't you know what your company is doing?

The new system is rejecting a lot more items, I’ve never been turned away but a lot more Joy Cons and other controllers now just aren’t being accepted, not sure if it’s a policy change or employee training issue.

Thankfully I have another store nearby still where everyone is cool, knows I have a zillion accounts, and works to get all the oddball stuff I bring in through. The 10 yr store SL rejected a white PS2 slim because the system only listed black as an option. Cool store folks ran it right through.

Anyone else seeing pending reversals for recent online orders that you have had delivered?

2 of my recent orders have reversals of full order amount, but both orders have been delivered. Neither have posted yet, so it may be some odd thing that will fall off after a few days.

What does a OG disc ps5 with $280 base trade in for with the 20% extra bump? Not sure what it adds to.

Tempted to trade it in for a pro since Sony is about to have a sale

weird, i bought a bunch of the $15 games online preowned and they sent them with the circle stickers on them like they are new but they have a preowned sticker on the case. I really hate those stickers.

Went in to trade a couple games towards my Switch 2 preorder, and the 40% extra didn't trigger even though it runs through 5/31. The associate said it's probably only good on new preorders. Anyone have success getting the bump on an existing preorder?

Towards your Switch 2 console? It has to be towards a preorder for Switch 2 games or accessories

Don't see anything crazy here... great finds IMO. Would have loved getting the TR Trilogy, Avengers, and Granblue Relink special editions at those prices.
DLCs codes from Granblue was expired on paper but still worked incase you find it. Same with WDLegion expired 4 years ago. Haven't tried the avengers code yet since it has to be redeem thru SE website but I'm sure it won't work since the game been delisted.

surprised a JD didn’t ask if you’re a reseller with that haul, this was online wasn’t it
2 stores, and 2 online orders. Majority was at 1 location tho, hit a gold mine.

Probably 99% of this site is on the same boat.
I been enjoying the collecting more than actual gaming. Only a few titles I actually play if I enjoy/hyped for them.

Final order came in

I got my GameStop order today…only the 8 movie HP set and a micro Star Wars fighter came factory sealed. My 3 games are clearly used/not sealed with fifa 25 and Mickey rebrushed came with some clear sticker puck to “seal” the case and my test drive unlimited is damaged, sticky and the fuck game is PEGI! It’s the gold edition so no code in either case…gutted. How tf does this happen?

For switch 2 launch next week, sounds like stores may have extra stock on hand (and they will be doing pre-ring and pickup on 6/4).

Anybody have any more info?

Last time I did this was with Zelda TotK, and I believe it was midday when I paid and then had to go back later that night (pretty late, but don't think it was actually at midnight).

That's about right. Seems many retailers are likely going to have extras based on what these videos are predicting.

I reset my password just to get in and reply to this because I went to my GS yesterday and the store manager told me that the 3 PM pre-ring is only for preorders and they’re not able to sell non-preorders until 12:01 AM. She did also say that this was based on the rules they had from their Nintendo rep though. She also said that they are not allowed to open the boxes for the Switch 2 to know their allotment without their Nintendo rep on-site so they don’t know how many they’ll have on hand yet.

I actually don’t believe her at all, but maybe that is the case for the 2 stores in my town and that it differs for every district?

I asked my local store about this last week and they said they had about 30 last time and that they are getting another 30 for the launch day (June 5th). They also said that all stores, not just theirs, will be receiving more. The process is that you can place an order at 3 PM and pick it up either at midnight or the following day.

This is the kind of thing I was expecting. Mighty curious to see what stock is like compared to Switch 1 if they're expecting them to be getting more after release day. When I did the midnight for Gamestop in Wichita they had 15 preorders and like 6 available at Midnight, but they didn't get more consoles for a good month.

How much did you get and what did you need?
It was $55 base store credit. The site has two white wii trade in listings, one for without wii motion plus and one with. I didn't have a wii motion plus and yet they still ring me mine as if it did.
They told me the needed: the console (with the SD card, gcn controller and gcn memory card covers), sensor bar, power brick, video cables, and wiimote. They did not require a nunchuk attachment. Since I was missing some of the slot covers, they deducted $7 from my trade in.

Add all that up that would be:
$55 base
$5.5 10% PUR bonus
$11 20% console trade in bonus
-$7 missing GCN slot covers
So $64.50 total store credit which I'm totally fine with

On Test Drive, there is no paper DLC code, the extra content is built in on the disc.

I just bought TLoU2 Remastered because I still had my $5 monthly coupon and some PUR points coupons. I was able to apply my $5 monthly coupon, a $5, $3 and $1 PUR coupon in one transaction. My PUR account was going to expire in July but the clerk told me that since I bought a new game that the membership comes out to $15 (save $10). Anyone else renew their PUR membership with this promo?

that is actually pretty good considering how many wii consoles must be floating around in basements and closets

Definitly got a few laying around to trade in. When does this end?
