I'm about halfway through the second box set of Get Backers. I absolutely love it- especially Akabane. I wish I had the time to read the manga. I just eat up everything Akabane.
I am welcome to any suggestions thats how i've watched most of them anyway.
The latter two are only manga titles, but JoJo's has an anime. It's like... an exotic (?)... Dragon Ball Z. I think that's a pretty good way to summarize it. :whistle2:k

I always recommend Monster (anime or manga). I love Urasawa. :bouncy:

This.

Man, I remember back when nobody here had seen Monster, and I had to spread the word alone. Times sure have changed for the better. Now if only I could get more of you to watch Princess Tutu...

Anyone know anything about Soul Eater? I think it's a fairly new anime but i've heard people are really liking it, although i've yet to check it out myself yet.

A few days ago I started watching School Rumble on Hulu. I have to say I'm absolutely in love with that show now. I finished the first season on Hulu and since they didn't have the second season I went out and bought it on dvd. It was expensive but so worth it.

Monster was really really good. At first I was put off by the art style (manga), but the story more than makes up for any irks with the drawings. I think i read it all in one weekend because it was so good.

I went through the same thing after randomly catching an ep somewhere. Blew through season 1 in a week.

Watch it. Now. It is pr0tastic.

Allelujah really doesn't do much these days does he? He had about 3 seconds of screen time just to say Trans-Am, they don't have a Haro that could push the button?

I've heard a lot of people rave about the animation quality in Freedom so I DLed it in HD, what crap, it looks like a cel shaded videogame

I think Soul Eater is Bleach with kids.

I read a few chapters of Tegami Bachi. The premise is rather unique (letter delivery focus with some typical shounen action). I feel that its hook is a bit weak, though, and may not continue following it.
Chase, you get a chance to watch 2.0 yet?
Sorry, I haven't yet, Sean. i iz a lazi sod

I've seen five episodes of it and don't get the appeal. The characters annoy me.

Well, after reading dcfox's post I checked out School Rumble on Hulu (I've never used Hulu before) and watched the first episode. Enjoyed it. I'll likely watch the rest of the season and get the second season from Netflix.

Also plan on eventually checking out Death Note, Slayers, Mushi-shi, Blue Gender, Peach Girl, and Shuffle from Hulu. How convenient.

Hulu will be really great once they get more content on there. I like the HD and widescreen but it's kind of a pain in the ass to skip around. I noticed they're going to start uploading the Shippuden episodes soon. I can finally watch Sakura and old lady fighting that puppet guy.

Wasn't Allelujah the least liked of the four Gundam Meisters aaccording to a fan poll last season? I dunno, but something about him irks me.

When the hell did Lock-on get those flying shields and guns. I know it's a requirement to have a Gundam with combat satellites, but I thought Saachez's stolen and modified gundam fulfilled that. I must've spaced out and missed it.

i'm not too surprised, he wasn't exactly the most sympathetic of people last season between killing a building full of kids and slowly killing a guy for his own amusement. But that is what I liked about his character, sure Celestial Being had people dedicated to the cause but they still allowed someone like that around too .

It was never flat out said (they mention a new program for the suit) but the model info was leaked quite awhile ago talking about it.

For those of you watching School Rumble, don't forget, in addition to the regular seasons, there's also a 2 eps. OVA mini series included w/ vol. 21-22 of the manga. They're officially numbered 25 and 26 for the 'third season' known as Third Term. But eps. 1-24 were never actually animated, hence why I refer to them as OVAs.

As for Soul Eater, I too thought it was Bleach w/ kids at first, but if you've watched more episodes, you'd realize that's only the surface plot. It's got a different take on the grim reaper schtick and it's quite interesting where they're taking it. Plus, the character designs, at least for me, are far more interesting than bleach's (except maybe Kenpachi Zaraki & Shunsui Kyōraku's; they're pretty cool to me).
I think you haven't watched Soul Eater.
I watched the first four episodes when the series first debuted, and that was my assessment. If it's different, please let me know how, as it surely seemed similar.

Allumage is an excellent, suspenseful one-shot about Kumiko, a stunt double who inspires to be a lead actress, and what she does during a visit home to Japan for, her brother, Amiki's wedding.

Allumage carries itself as a resilient drama. However, I would have preferred if Kumiko had died during the helicopter scene with her brother. It would have made Allumage an excellent, unique tragedy. While the ending is a bit of a twist, its lightheartedness spoils the dramatic tension that built up to the leap of faith.

Soul Eater is, Chi's Sweet Home and Kaiji aside, my favorite ongoing series. It's definately not Bleach with kids. In fact, shinigami-ness aside, they...forget the entire concept and go...well.

...well they go SOMEWHERE. I can't quite explain it. But it's an awesome somewhere.

EDIT: Wait, my friend just pointed something out. Bleach IS Bleach with kids. They're 14 years old!

I'm deeper into the Junen-go no Sekai arc of Reborn, which is surprisingly dark and interesting. I'm on ep 88 or so and I've only got 100. I see 114 eps are out which means I'll be caught up within the week. That makes me 95% or more up to date on Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, and now Reborn along with who knows how many shows I'm forgetting. I hate getting into series that aren't done...curses.

I'm gonna try the Reborn fighting game on the DS and see how that is.

114? Do you speak Japanese or something?

I'm not entirely sure how you saw Bleach in Soul Eater in the first place, so I'm not quite sure how to frame my argument. Saying Soul Eater is good and Bleach as not seems like it wouldn't be enough. Besides people with weapons fighting one another, and the word shinigami used, I don't see the connection at all. Perhaps you could tell me what the similarities are.

I finished watching Full Metal Panic The Second Raid earlier this morning. It was awesome, and definitely didn't disappoint. Although it was a lot more violent than the previous seasons. I could have done without the extra violence, but it still didn't ruin the show.

any of you see the latest naruto manga? definelty looking up cant wait to see what happens next.

i was thinking naruto might not win but 2 things come to mind. one pains technique shortens his life each time he uses it. the other theres still the sauske story going on so he wont be primed to die for a while if ever.
also was the pain he destroyed a puppet? an what the big deal about the 5th losing her head dot? and did any of you notice kakashi he may actually be dead.

Love the new cloak. I think Naruto will take out most of the bodies but Pain will get away. Kakashi's face looked rough, but there was a slug next to him so its still up in the air.

That dot had something to do with Tsunade's chakra, I can't remember the details that clearly but basically she has no more aces up her sleeve. Had Pain attacked her there it would have been it.

narutos new look i definelty sweet. i hope they go more into what him being a sage is all about. funny thing though how each of them have now taken the place of ther respective teachers ( naruto/jiraya and sauske/orochimaru) if the series lasts a long time id be cool to see how they pass their skills onto.

Is anyone else bothered when anime spoil the plot with the title of the episode? It happens all the time.

I was bored out of my mind watching Naruto just now...
the name of the episode was "Asuma Dies! The Naruto Shippuuden Special of Despair and Imprisonment", 40 very boring minutes when the outcome is given away in the beginning, would've been entertaining otherwise

Naruto is getting bad about it, taking what little surprise there is out of the episodes. Last series I saw that did a double whammy was Gundam Seed Destiny which gave it away in the titles and intros that would change spoiling stuff up to 3 episodes before the event happened.

That's what you get for watching Naruto. ;) Hehehe... I jest.

I am reading Team Medical Dragon, Sidooh, and Mercenary Pierre. The first is an interesting take on Japan's health care; the second is about samurai during the Edo period; and the last involves Joan of Arc. Good, current stuff.

not with naruto. since i read the manga i already know whats going to happen. i just watch the show mainly to see certain battles animated like
narutos fight with that 5 heart guy it was cool to see his new moved in action.sakuras fight with the puppet guy was cool too and i cant wait to see sauske vs itachi animated and sauske vs orochimaru.

I read the manga as well but heck not everyone does.I have friends who are watching it without knowing since i'm not the spoiling type and gee the intro titles do it for me.

Well I just read the last Naruto manga.
Has Naruto just become 100 times cooler? I honestly didn't see his "power level" improving so drastically in such a seemingly short time. Maybe at long last the manga will actually be about who it was named after.

Didn't they do that in DBZ also?

As much as I love to see a naruto kicking ass I don't get the whole surpassing teachers biit. He spent a few days training and suddenly he is better then the 4th hokage and Jiraiya?! But if this makes up for the ridiculous amount of time spent training by the character while Sasuke stole the spotlight i'm willing to ignore it.

Yeah, for sure. One Piece also.

Probably lots of other shonen, but I usually don't pay attention to episode titles so I don't notice too often.

Maybe they were in some sort of hyperbolic time chamber? And they'll fill us up with whatever Naruto learned with new flashbacks? Hey, it could happen. If Kakashi can send things to another dimension ala Goku in DBZ, then yeah...

I finished up Shingu today. I liked it, especially the ending. Now on to the next show, but which one? Fruits Basket or Azumanga Daioh? Decisions, decisions, haha!

naruto
I hope Pain kills Naruto. I liked it better when naruto used the nine-tails powers. Toad Sage power = lame
