I'd be pretty disappointed if the Naruto mangaka didn't stick to their guns and leave
Kakashi dead.
I'd say, prepare to be pretty disappointed.

Why? It makes sense that
Kakashi dies. Jiraiya's already gone. Naruto is losing his mentors and growing up in the process. Chouji's dad is dead too. The mangaka is letting the younger generation take its leading role and replace the older one. It's been a constant theme throughout the entire manga. The mangaka will ruin a lot of that progress if they let Kakashi live.

I agree with this, team Kakashi already has another leader so that isn't a problem. Kakashi really served his purpose, he set Naruto on the path to gaining real power but if he sticks around constantly saving him that will amount to nothing. I would love to see Naruto go on a real mission one of these days that isn't Sasuke related to see how far he has come.

Your point makes sense but consider these things:
- why bother making Kakashi walking up to his dad to talk about his past life at all? Kishimoto could've easily just done it Asuma-style or even Jiraiya-style. Why the flashback?

- in terms of significance, Chouji's dad isn't that important but to serve as a 'pass the generational leadership' plot device. Very few parents have been acknowledged w/ 'screen-time' so offing Chouji's dad is to show how severe the Konoha attack is, how personal the fight is.

- killing isn't necessary for the next generation to step up in a leadership role. Hell, the Third Hokage stepped aside to let the Fourth lead until he died

- I don't doubt that Kakashi has a higher than likely chance of dying near the end of the manga but not just yet. He's still got some things left unfulfilled to accomplish and he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'll turn over and die in the face of a stronger enemy.

- You'll have to note that another constant theme in the anime is deception. This is displayed in the notion of all Bushin clones, Shikamaru's razor-sharp tactical mind, Naruto's fox-like mischievious nature, Orochimaru seemingly coming back to life time & again*, Itachi's manipulation of Sasuke, etc.

*don't forget while Sasuke destroyed his Orochimaru possession, Orochi's assistant Kabuto still has his

the way to have kakashi die would be to have sauske kill him. im all for kakashi surviving if only for him and sauske to duke it out when he makes his move against konoha. have the teacher die by the pupils hands and make sauske a complete villan. but inevitably he will come back and be a hero again but i can dream.
I think they switched animation studios. It might even be the same one they used when the anime first premiered (most noticable during the Gaara-Lee fight) as the shots seem reminiscent of them.

And as for the manga, call it far-fetched but I think
Kakashi hallucinates that he's recalling his life to his dad, when in fact, he's just cast the hyperrealistic illusions of the Sharingan on himself. So, to people outside of his body, it appears he's dead while, in fact, he's just in an altered mental reality (which is what the Sharingan is capable of).
i hope youre right about the studio switch because this ep looked amazing. now if theyed stop with all the damn filler shit and just stick to the story cause theres alot of fights im still itching to see animated from the manga.

Just watched Michiko To Hatchin.

If you're a fan of Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo you owe it to yourself to at least to check it out. It has a similar fun feel, and vibrant art style to it. That's not to say it's a carbon-copy of either though, it's definitely a new and refreshing take on anime. I don't recall an anime taking place in Brazil, or having Brazilian main characters...

Hasn't there been a small trend for Japanese to move to Brazil? I remember seeing a Japanese ping pong player playing for Brazil. The commentator briefly explained the Japanese immigration to Brazil.

Thanks for the heads up about Michiko to Hatchin. btw, is there any decent action in it?

Concerning Naruto Manga
Me thinks Kakashi will be revived or come back from near death. But I'd think it cool if he was killed off.

You're right. I believe Brazil has the most Japanese people in the world, not counting Japan of course. However, I don't really see Brazil reflected in anime much, if at all.

I wouldn't call it action packed, but it has a great sense of adventure. So the characters aren't just standing around talking, or just beating each other up all the time either. Don't expect the intense fight scenes of Samurai Champloo, the action is probably more on par with that of Cowboy Bebop.

I'm loving it personally, as a big Cowboy Bebop fan it excels in all the right aspects. It has even caught the attention of some of my friends that are animephobic.

Oh...and the opening is quite charming if I do say so myself.

Has it been licensed yet?

Not licensed yet, it just came out in Japan.

Yeah, me too. I have a feeling I will enjoy the dub much better, being an American that isn't fluent in Japanese. Manglobe usually gets the decent dubs.

ill definelty check it out then since both of the animes you compared it to are favorites of mine. i cant believe anyne wouldnt check out an anime due to it having a female lead espcially since the women are often some of the more interesting characters in some series.

Yes, it does.

The first two episodes I feel are there to establish the core story. By the 3rd episode you really see the characters connect. The 4th episode was the one that sold me on the anime, it mixes some fun with some grittiness.
Michiko was good?

I'm assuming it gets much better in eps 2 onward then...
Judging something off of one episode is never a good idea.
Judging something off of one episode is never a good idea.
very true. i really wanted to stop watching Planetes after several episodes but i continued and i am so glad i did; it's one of my favorite shows of all time.

I don't have a lot of time to waste on anime, so I kinda have to make judgments right away. If the show does pick up around episode four, I'll watch at least through that.
Has it been licensed yet?
From AnimeSuki: Three US anime companies have requested we remove series from the site, Bandai, Kadokawa Pictures USA, and FUNimation. The Bandai request related to sequels (seasons/OVA) of anime already licensed by them, while the other two companies made requests on behalf of various Japanese companies. We feel it is right to act on each of their requests, even though the series are not licensed.

Which is annoying because now I want to see it, and now I can't even request it tonight at club.

If you don't wanna do the torrent thing, you can always stream it from here.

There are a lot of places with streaming fansubs of Michiko. A basic google search is all you need. My friend who speaks some Japanese says they're pretty accurate too, though I bet there are some things that get lost in translation which is why I hope it gets dubbed soon.

Just saw Gundam 00 season 2 episode 8......... I do believe this show just pole vaulted over a shark. Tieria........ what the fuck here

I have a question I was hoping someone here could answer. I am planning on buying the Samurai 7 blu-ray box set. Will it be worth it? Or should I just get the normal DVD set?

Samurai 7 is good enough but I wouldn't shell out tons of money unless I'd seen it first and knew it was something I'd treasure on Blu-Ray.

--

I'm watching Gin Tama and will start Katekyoshi Hitman Reborn after that. Any thoughts on these two series?

Also I watched all of Dennou Coil which is an amazingly creative and imaginative show but falls apart at the end a bit (like virtually everything Japanese ever).

I couldn't stand Hitman Reborn. Granted, I did start the series at episode 90, but... It was just so generic and I wanted to stab the main character in the head so much.

This.

And I will see about acquiring Michiko to Hatchin. :whistle2:k

Had to return the complete series because some of the DVDs were scratched to the point of being unviewable. I plan on getting an hdtv this holiday season and would absolutely love to watch the series on blu-ray. I plan on pre-ordering for a cheaper price. My only concern is that they'll mess it up somehow, like it only being faux hd or something.
Just watched the last episode of Gundam 00. I haven't been this confused since the Hansen brothers.
He actually used a female voice , threw me for a loop

Hmm Reborn hate eh? We'll since I already have a ton of it I'll try it out anyway.

Consider my history, I've watched ALL of the following:

Dragon Ball
Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball GT
Yu Yu Hakusho
Flame of Recca
Kiba
One Piece
Naruto
Bleach
Rurouni Kenshin
Hellsing
Trigun
Hunter X Hunter
Bastard
Guyver
Full Metal Alchemist
Get Backers
Outlaw Star

and I'm working on

D. Grayman
Gin Tama
G.T.O.

What can I say? I'm a sucker for Orrraaaah!, secret "taisetsu no ougi", magical powers, and other such nonsense. I've seen many many many more shows than this list (been watching anime for around 15 years now) but those are all fairly memorable shonen shows.

Reborn isn't bad, it just has one of the worst build ups ever. The manga does't get good until 1/4th of the way in (and I seriously mean it, you can skip the first 50 chapters without a problem). Same with anime (about episode 40). It's pointless rinse-and-repeat problem-of-the-day mini-misadventures until the Mukuro, and then it finally starts to tap into its potential.

Granted, it's a shonen series published in Jump, so it's your general type of battles, except by this point in this series, they actually learn how to draw out fights masterfully, instead of random power-ups or pointless-twists.

You're a fool. Minami Ke is an excellent anime, and you will get used to the mouths.

No spoilers but the (anime) ending of D. Grayman was disappointing. Why? You'll know it when you see it.:bomb:
You're a fool. Minami Ke is an excellent anime, and you will get used to the mouths.
so i don't like something you like and i'm a fool? gotcha

also i was just joking about the mouths, the first two eps were just boring
Sooo...anyone seen the new dragonball Z ep....?
Za? What new episode? This is 2008 you know.
No spoilers but the (anime) ending of D. Grayman was disappointing. Why? You'll know it when you see it.:bomb:
Wha...?!? Oh man, I hate hearing stuff like that.

The ending of Hunter X Hunter was pretty craptacular as well. Then I looked at what came next in the manga and I just spit upon the whole idea of it. :bomb:

Berserk was the most disappointing letdown of all time....why?

Cause I started with Ep2. That's right...I didn't know THE ENTIRE SERIES IS A FLASHBACK. BOY WAS I IN FOR A SURPRISE.

One of the most satisfying shonens to watch is Kiba but hardly anyone has seen it. Most wouldn't give it a chance with it's vaguely pokemon-esque vibes but honestly the writing was shockingly good. I couldn't hate the show no matter how much I wanted to.

Just used some leftover MS points to watch these two titles:

Karas The Prophecy
Appleseed Ex Machina

Lots of action in both movies. I liked them both, but I have to give the nod to Appleseed.

I cheated and watched the 3rd and 4th parts of the new dbz ep. Pretty cool, but not amazing. What would get my panties up in a bunch was if the entire DBZ series was redrawn with the same updated art style. It'll never happen, but I can dream...

I'm guessing you don't have netflix , since Appleseed Ex Machina is available through streaming Netflix on xbox live.

Kiba is indeed satisfying. I wished I watched that shit as a kid.

Yeah, though. Minami Ke isn't for you if you didn't like the first few episodes. It's a slice of life comedy, and if you're into that, it's a gold show. If not... enjoy your Bleach. :/

Really? I felt the art style was pretty much identical to the old stuff, it seemed like that was their goal

Hmm, I think I mean production value wise. This special episode looks much cleaner and consistent than many of the DBZ episodes. I was always perplexed as a kid when watching DBZ. One episode would look awesome. Then the next episode would look like ass.
