"The Bad Guy" Razor Ramon: Wrestling Thread

I'll bet any amount of money that it is his manager who is tweeting and facebooking for him. He's a scumbag who takes advantage of Sheik's incoherency.

See:

Yeah, "Sheik";s Twitter and Facebook are great.

My friend and I just got back from an Empire Wrestling Federation show in Riverside. Surprisingly, even though they train 10-15 miles away in San Bernardino, most of their shows are in Covina rather than Riverside.

It was a good show. The 2 best wrestlers in the company. Champion Ryan Taylor and Chris Kadillak, were in the main event. The A-List, Jeremy Jaeger and Roger Ruiz, competed in singles matches. There were probably 7-8 matches total. They're coming back to Riverside in June and July, so I'll be there.

Courtesy PWTorch:

-- May 18: "Best Pay Per View Matches of the Year 2009-2010." The DVD will include the Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker match from WrestleMania 26.

Other matches included will be Jeff Hardy vs. C.M. Punk from Summerslam, which was voted the #2 WWE Match of the Year in 2009 by PWTorch readers. Also, the #4 WWE Match of the Year - Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho from The Bash - is included.

The DVD will also feature sit-down interviews with John Cena, Christian, Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston, Matt Hardy, and The Miz discussing matches on the DVD.

Why exactly does this exist? Just so they could shoehorn the HBK vs UT WM 26 match onto one more disc? Sit-down interviews with The Miz AND Kofi AND Matt Hardy???? SOLD!

I never understood such random DVD releases. Sounds like throwing money down a hole to me. Soon to be about as relevant as that Best of Intercontinental Title Matches disc you can find for about $5 everywhere...
I have no idea if this has been done before and I don't really care.
Oh, but you should care. The "Razor Ramon wrestling topic" was the FIRST character wrestling topic. I'm sure there would've been some form of wrestling topics even without that one, but certainly not the same fun with each one being named for a wrestler, and perhaps not as consistant. But, what the hell do I know...

Just for that, next week on Smackdown it'll be Vickie vs Hornswoggle with Chavo as guest referee. Ho, ho, ho, I'm Vince McMahon dammit!

They already have the matches. I am sure that the production is cheap enough that they can make a profit on them relatively easily. Probably the same reasoning behind all of the direct to video DVDs out there. Somebody is making money somewhere.

Yeeeeah, there's kind of a market for that DVD somewhere - the bulk of people aren't going to buy each and every WWE PPV on DVD for those years, but they may want some highlights.

And if they put it out *before* WM26, that will artificially boost the sales for them there as well.

I got my eye on the Steamboat set, but that's about it right now. In the past year, I've only purchased the Starrcade and WCW sets. Been meaning to buy WM25 on Blu-Ray, but never got around to it.
Best Buy is releasing WM26 this week. I believe they have a time period exclusive on the release.
Yes they do.

On that note I'd love to know who put "wwelitists" in the topic's tags.

Best Buy has timed exclusivity, but apparently, the Royal Rumble 2010 BD sold elsewhere won't include the Raw and SD bonus disc, which sucks, as it has the awesome Rey-Shawn match from SD on it.
yes they do.

Conspicuously, TNA still has yet to remove Christopher Daniels' bio from its website even though it has been confirmed that he was released from his contract. The reason he has not yet been removed the website is because the company is currently trying to sign him to a new deal.

The key difference is that his former contract was a guaranteed money deal, which he signed a few years ago when he was pushed as one of the company's top stars. They are now looking to sign him to a per-appearance deal.

There was a near-unanimously negative reaction within the company and among the top wrestlers to him being let go.
.

He's a strong, consistent worker. TNA's goof is ROH's gain. ROH needs him a LOT more than TNA does, plus TNA tends to just push for a short while then bury him in the midcard.

For a Blu-ray, it really is a great price. Plus, it was an awesome show, and it holds more sentimental value for me since I was there.
For a Blu-ray, it really is a great price.
Again, no. Your sentimentality is getting in the way of rationality.
Where else can you find a Blu-ray of a wrestling PPV for that price? I'm not sure what you're comparing it to.
I paid $25 for Wrestlemania 24 back in 2008

That's what I'm saying. It's pretty comparable in price. It's almost exactly the same price as WWE's previous Blu-ray releases.

I'm not trying to start an argument, though. I don't see why the price is considered to not be a decent deal, and I am curious. But regardless, I will be buying this in the coming weeks when I have more spending money.

Thanks for the suggestion, I've watched some of it from torrent sites and other but it's not just the same because there's missing episodes and great moments. Only WWE has the complete footage.
If only they released the entire attitude era on Blu-ray. I'd pay hundreds or more just to watch the whole thing again.
I guarantee it wouldn't hold up well at all.

Well, it's kind of a shitty price when most Blu-Rays are $20 although I understand your position (I bought 24 because I was there)

- TNA has announced that Rob Van Dam will defend the World Heavyweight Championship on tomorrow night’s live iMPACT in Orlando. RVD’s opponent will be one of the leaders in the new TNA rankings system. Currently Jeff Hardy and Desmond Wolfe are leading the poll. Here’s the updated line-up for tomorrow’s iMPACT:
* More on Eric Bischoff’s new rankings system
* Hulk Hogan’s decision on who gets Ric Flair’s Hall of Fame ring
* Hogan will confront Sting about his recent actions
* Orlando Jordan’s new O-Zone segment with guest Rob Terry
* Douglas Williams’ return since being stripped of the X Division Title
* Beer Money vs. The Motor City Machineguns
* The Beautiful People vs. Sarita, Taylor Wilde and Tara
* RVD vs. one of the stars from the TNA Championship rankings
.

Blu-ray movies cost around that much, yes. But you're getting a lot more content on this- 4 hour show, 2.5 hour Hall of Fame ceremony, 1 whole episode each of Raw and Smackdown, plus matches featuring the Hall of Famers. Hell, the DVD is $25, so if you have a Blu-ray player and want to own WMXXVI, that's by far your best option as far as I am concerned.

Oh yeah, I forgot:

Just watched Wrong Side of Town on Netflix streaming last night after we got back from an indy show. It stars RVD, Batista, Ja Rule, and Mabel. I know quite a few of you are aware of the movie's existence.

So, my friend who was with me is a huge mark and loves Batista, and hell, I'll watch just about anything with wrestlers in it. So we started it up.

Even while under the influence of RVD's favorite substance, it was terrible. The Marine was 50 times better than this. It just made so little sense, and the premise was shaky to begin with. But I didn't expect much. It's 2/5 star rating on Netflix was pretty accurate. Probably would be 1 star for me with a non-wrestling cast.
They just finally started listing the WMXXVI Blu-ray on Best Buy.com over the last couple days. $30? Not bad.
It's actually $25 this week, at least thats what I saw in the ad.

I have a $10 rz cert so $15 for the bluray is a sweet deal to me.

Hopefully the rating system gets explained in good detail, because I can't see anything stopping people voting for the same person week in and week out if their choice loses.

I'm sorry....but since the phrase "diva" has been implemented almost successfully now in the WWE....there has been an uprising of just HOT BITCHES

That Michelle McCool woman....she looked so hot during that Mickie James feud that I just didn't feel much sympathy for Mickie. I know, it's horrible....but when you see so many hot women on your TV in skimpy outfits you don't feel angered that Vince is fucking over one

I'll always love Mickie though...and I wish her the BEST of luck....but shoot - I cannot remember a time in WWF/E history where there has just been hot woman after hot woman after hot woman

I couldn't even give a top 10 anymore like I used to be able to give top 5 growing up!

I look at the wrestlers like Molly Holly now and chuckle. I look at Sable and go "eh...nothing on Marsyle!" (or however you spell that)

And those Bella twins? Lawd....

Even Gail Kim, Eve, Layla....

I don't even remember what I was typing about. Vince has blinded me with a slew of hot women who can't wrestle and I DEMAND that he brings back the female escorts and allows even the jobbers to have one

WWEShopzone has some pretty cool packages for WM26. Can be seen here: Link

No bluray version so far, but a pretty good deal for the DVD/Shirt/Program. The DVD alone is $24.99, then they have different packaes with a T-Shirt, program, pendant and such. Best one IMO is the $34.99 package for the Collector's DVD, a T-Shirt, and the program.

The package deals are cool if you want the extras, but otherwise the DVDs cost the same as anywhere else... plus there's shipping. I had to pay $5 for shipping on a $1.98 book from WWEShop. I mean, it was a great deal for that item, but even the cheapest shipping options on there aren't so good.

On a similar note, however, I have been wanting that Hart Family DVD/shirt package since before it was released. If only I hadn't spent an obscene amount of money on that WrestleMania trip.

Yea shipping is pretty bad unless you order a few things along with it to get the free shipping option for $70+ orders.

According to the newest Wrestling Observer Radio today, the Impact rating for Thursday's replay of Monday's taped show was higher than the Monday rating, which was the lowest-rated Impact since the FSN days - despite them airing shows on major holidays, being head-to-head with UFC, and basketball. So Monday's even more of a disaster than thought, but it's obvious that Thursday is their best night. If they get a low rating tonight, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a date change within a matter of weeks.

Edit - ...and so much for weeks...

I don't care what anyone says. More Beautiful People is always a good thing.

I agree that Thursdays would be better for them for the foreseeable future, but I would miss having 5 hours of wrestling (6 last week!) on my DVR every Monday night to watch in the wee hours of the morning when I can't sleep.

Keep in mind however that TNA and Spike both expected low ratings this last Monday due to the WWE Draft. They also expected the Thursday replay to do better than the Monday airing. Tonight's fully loaded Impact I'm going to guess will do somewhere in the 1.0-1.2 range easily.
