Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

Not bad! $14.99 before BOGO to $5 + $0.50 edge + $7.50 (or $5) promo. Thanks for the heads up...

I need some confirmation before I go out. Do the employees have to scan something for the B1G1 to be taken into effect or do they just have to scan the games and the computer does it for them?

It should ring up in the system since it's not a coupon promotion.

Actually, unless they changed the POS from last time, I'm fairly certain that there's a barcode that they scan after your pair of games. The systems that GC/HW/MG and BB/GR use are dinosaurs and don't do much on their own; most promotions have a barcode kept next to the monitor that needs to be scanned.

There is a barcode they need to scan or they can type in the code manually that is in their communication.

If some very observant, and enlightened, CAG could get the details of those numbers, the whole of the thread would benefit greatly.

Then when a clueless employee can't figure something out, we can do their job for them and get the deal to work.

Picked up conan and sega rally revo for $17. Was also going to get flatout and republic commando but could not find the disk and those were $10 each.

damnit, CAG, I really didnt wanna get caught in the flipping Frenzy again, but damn...

Traded Monster Madness, Beautiful Katamari, Lego SW 2, Fantastic 4 (360), Spider-Man 3, & Virtua Tennis 3 for $67 total GS credit. Bought Alone in the Dark (didnt have the 25% coupon but will return/rebuy later. If the price for Fatal Inertia holds, I will flip one back to BB & get Battlefield

I scored Bullet Witch $10, TMNT $15 (for achievements), Cars $10 and Fantastic Four $10. I had $18 in credit so $8 out the door. I should get around $36 in trade at Gamestop. Saving up credit for Guitar Hero World Tour. :)

Ended up having a few unexpected things to do today and gotta be at work this afternoon so yea I just got in and out and moved all my credit to GS. Made some money in the process and can always go tomorrow and move it back from GS to GR and repeat and add and add and so on since I only hit one GR store... :D

GS BASE trade prices a few were different from list. All my trades were multiple copies of these games:

XBOX 360
TMNT $5
Sega Rally Evolution $5
Armored Core 4 $7
Stranglehold $5
Conan $5
Spiderman FoF $5
Lost Planet $5

$5 games still turned into $13 each using $15 trade bonus coupons. My GS were cool about ringing me seperately and letting me use more than one coupon as long as I threw him a couple $5 preorders. So it was pretty quick and painless. Gotta move this GS credit back and repeat but I have no time today. Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure if this was posted or how accurate this is but a BBV employee told me today that the b1g1 sale is supposed to be for last gen games ONLY, he let me check out my motherload of 360 games and said by tomorrow the error would be fixed. Again I'm not sure how accurate this is but that is what he told me.

Here's some current TIV @ GameStop:
Tony Hawk Project 8 (360): $3.00 w/ bonus $8.30
WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 (360): $4.00 w/ bonus $9.40
Enchanted Arms (360): $6.00 w/ bonus $11.60
Shrek 3 (360): $5.00 w/ bonus $10.50
Monster Madness (360): $5.00 w/ bonus $10.50
Spider-Man 3 (360): $5.00 w/ bonus $10.50
Lost Planet (360): $5.00 w/ bonus $10.50
Stranglehold (360): $5.00 w/ bonus $10.50

Oh yea and for some reason the b1g1f DIDNT ring automatically. The manager knew about it and had actually just got done seperating all the $14.99 and under games but it didn't ring up. He had to adjust it manually WHICH makes perfect since with what the above poster said because some little kid bought 2 $9.99 ps2 games and it rang automatically. I'd let him cut line since I had a pile.. The manager was confused and looking at his map when mine didnt scan.

The last gen promo is 2 games for $10... and it's been going on for a while. I think that's where it gets mixed up.

Alright, just finished my run today - whew! A few updates to prices, to start off with

Superman Returns gets $2.50 (up .25 from the printout)
Crackdown gets $3.00 (down 1.00 from the printout)
Stuntman:Ignition gets $5.00 now (down 1.00 from the printout)
Juiced 2 gets $6.00 now (down 3.00 from the printout)

To start out with, spent 187 bucks to flip games to BBV. Ended up with 270 dollars in BBV credit and used all but 20 bucks of it today clearing out 3 stores. Turned around and came out with about 315 dollars in GS credit, and 22 in BBV credit. Not bad for a first time.

Some CD's were scratched, so I got charged a few bucks by GS to repair them - I'd advise checking the discs for any serious scratches that you buy from BBV.

I bought 30 games total at Blockbuster for roughly 200 bucks - make sure you bring a printout with the games on sale; about half of the games I bought were priced at 24.99 or higher but I knew they were on sale for cheaper, and it reflected as such when I got to the counter.

4 Spiderman 3,
4 PotC,
3 Meet the Robinsons,
2 Virtua Tennis 3,
2 Armored Core 4,
2 Beautiful Katamari,
2 Golden Compass ,
1 APF2K8,
1 Juiced 2,
1 Stuntman:Ignition,
1 Test Drive Unlimited,
1 Bullet Witch,
1 Spiderman:Friend or Foe,
1 Crackdown,
1 Top Spin 2,
1 Just Cause
1 WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2007,
1 Chromehounds

I hope this helps some people - I'm thinking that the amount of games will pretty much be the same at all BBV - a lot of Pirates, a lot of Meeting the Robinsons, Spiderman, etc.

Don't know if it's worth mentioning, but I saw no NCAA 09 $15 coupons on counters, they were all behind the counter. You can either receive $15 towards 2 Xbox 360 Games, or have 20% of your total trade in value increased provided that you reserve the full amount of the game. If you actually want to buy the game, this might be a good option - otherwise, not so much.

Two of the three stores I went to knew about the B1G1, and it is for Xbox 360/PS3/Wii - it was done by scanning a small barcode that I guess came with the communications on the deal. The other one only had 2 games, and told me he didn't know about any deal sounding like that. He let me get two games for the price of one anyway, guess he wanted to get rid of em. The manager of the first store looked at me funny: "How did you know about our sale? I haven't even put the promo stuff out yet?"

Thanks io, kunai, and CAG!

when my EB receipt says disc Disc 0.50 does that mean I got hit with a resurfacing fee? If so I was never told and I know my discs were brand new.....
when my EB receipt says disc Disc 0.50 does that mean I got hit with a resurfacing fee? If so I was never told and I know my discs were brand new.....
It should say 'Associated Refurb Fee'
The only thing that says 'Disc' is next to my Edge card bonus

My receipt looks something like this:
Superman Returns - 1@ -$2.50
Bonus: 5.00 Promo (Store number)
Disc: 0.25 Edge card 10%

Kind of off-topic, but do employees benefit from $5 pre-orders if they're canceled later on? Wouldn't mind helping out some of the good ones out, especially if it doesn't really cost me anything.

I bought 36 games at BBV. The 14.99 ones had to be adjusted manually by the managers and the 9.99 games did the b1g1 automatically when they hit "total." Just to be clear, these are all 360 games. Id list some price changes, but I g2g 2 work right this minute.

$14.99 360 games don't appear to be automatic for the B1G1. I left the store before I realized that it hadn't adjusted correctly. I had the difference refunded with no problems.

For you veterans out there buying multiple copies at BBV to trade into GS, what, in your experience, is the best method to trade them in? My understanding is that GS accounts are linked but that they supposedly don't mind if you trade in multiple copies. That said, do you still only trade in one per location just to not push your luck?

Last week, got Viking (360) for $18.21 using GS coupon. Traded for $32 at BB.

Today, I got (all 360 except Jak):
Conan $14.99
Darkness free
Call of Juarez $14.99
Armored Core 4 free
Bullet Witch $9.99
Jak Combat Racing(PS2 for my son) free

Traded Bullet Witch($4) and Armored Core($7) to GS for $22.10 (w/edge and bonus). Got Assassin's Creed for $16.86 and still have $5.23 in GS credit.

So for $26.21 out of pocket ($18.21 for Viking and $8 cash to BB):
Assassin's Creed
Conan
Darkness
Call of Juarez
and a PS2 game for the kid...with $5+ in GS credit to spare. For a little over $5 a game, I'm happy. :)

I'ved traded in 3 Spiderman: FOF's to one location. I'm going to keep trading them until they tell me to stop or my BBV runs out of them. They have 5 left :).

$14.99 games have to be manually adjusted so be careful. Look at your receipt before leaving. Look at your games too! I bought Moto GP '07. Got to gamestop and it ended up having Moto GP '06 in it. I looked like a fool trying to rip off GS -_-. Had to take another trip to BB so they could give me the right one. On the other hand they actually knew about the B1G1. Maybe it's because the person who rang me up was an assistant manager.

In the end I had $40.63 BBV -> $59.15 GS. 1.5x isn't bad at all. I could have had $64.15 at GS, but the manager knew about the $15 coupons. He caught me ;).

Conan also changed. It trades in at $10.50, not $13.80.

just finished my first flip of the week. managed to get 50$ credit @ BBV with some of my old games and turned 21$ credit into 42$ credit at GS =) gonna go to other BBV later to find some more games to flip. Hopefully I can turn the rest to GS doubled.

People don't seem to specify but for the Wii version of Fantastic Four what is the current trade in value when trading it in to BBV? I've seen $6, $20 and CAG's aren't specifying versions and where the game is being traded into.

Wii Shrek the Third is 16.99$ so does not qualify for b1g1 free

I was beat to my favorite GR (Valley View) by another CAG, but still managed to get 6 games. Thanks to that fellow for missing a few :)

The GR store had to adjust the 14.99 games, but my regular BB had no problem, either in the 30 mins it was fixed, or who knows :)

If you accept delivery of the game and then return for a refund, what happens ?

And Guinaevere, I wish you would change your avatar, everytime I see it I feel like a child molester as I find it very seductive, and the girl looks to be about 10 :'(

Guys, I tried to be a productive member by calling for these TIV's but the first person who took the call had me hold for one of the only 2 guys at my BB that can do the trades and he said they wouldn't give them out over the phone. They'd give me a printed quote at the store, but don't give them over the phone. So if anyone knows these and would post them, I'd appreciate it. Alternatively I will post them once I have the aforementioned quote.

Heavenly sword (ps3)
Lost (360).

I see a few people trading in All Pro Football 2K8 - how much does that cost at BB so I can add it to the list?

I'll post an update in about 45 minutes - gotta run my son to a summer camp first!

I heard the TIV is $CALL YOUR BLOCKBUSTER.99

I have these that may need to be added to the list:

All Pro Football 2K8 - GS trade-in $2
Call of Juarez - GS trade-in $5

Apparently I have competition now. Hit my BBV a little while ago and it was raped. I was told someone was in when they opened and snatched up 20+ games with store credit.

Same thing happened the last time the B1G1 hit, except I was there 15 minutes after opening that time.

Picked up the following at BBV:

Spiderman 3 - $9.99
Earth Defense Force 2017 - FREE
Bullet Witch - $9.99
Lego Star Wars II - FREE
Top Spin 2 - $9.99
Metal Gear Solid - Twin Snakes (GameCube) - FREE (gonna sell this one on ebay bwahahahahaha)

TIVs to GameStop (all after $15 bonus...and the guys there were SURPRISINGLY NICE! I was able to get $15 bonus on all 6 games!):

Spider-man 3 - $10
LEGO SW II - $11
Bullet Witch - $9
Earth Defense Force x2 - $20
Top Spin 2 - $9
(NCAA 09 Pre-Order - minus $5..but ill just cancel it)
(Refurbished Fees - minus $6...grrr...)

TOTAL = $48

since my edge card was bought using that $2 game informer deal...i wasn't able to get the bonus (does anyone know how to get that bar code thing to work on my edge card btw?) but $32 BBV Credit ---> $53 GameStop credit is NOT that bad! gonna go back later and do my best not to get that damn refurb fee against my credit...

All Pro is $9.99 at BBV

Also got some trade ins to report nothing strange and most have been reported so I am confirming:

All after edge and Bonus
Meet the Robinsons - 9.40
Virtua Tennis 3 - 11.60
Shrek the 3rd - 10.50
Spider-man 3 - 10.50
Moto GP '07 - 11.60
Sega Rally Revo - 10.50
Conan - 10.50
Spider-man: FoF - 10.50
Beautiful Katamari - 11.60

For some reason they wouldn't allow me to use my NCAA card on any of my trades since it needed to be going towards NCAA and I will be canceling it here shortly. Best part is I had 16 games traded and spent $90 BB credit and turned that into 180 or so EB credit! Still have 2 stores to hit up too!

Also, on BBV tried to argue that the games that are 14.99 are not included in the sale. Which I argued for like 15 minutes saying the sign states 14.99 and that means 14.99 and UNDER not 14.98. Either way I was able to get the games at the discount just took a lot of pushing. Other location that I went to had no issues with.

I have one more BBV to hit up and most likely grab a few VT3 and maybe a Lego Star Wars to even out the trades.

The first store I went to, the $14.99 games weren't getting promo'ed off but once I hit a second store like an hour later, they were. So either the first clerk was more clueless than I thought or the system wasn't set up properly yet (the $9.99 games were working though).

Anyway, if the last store I visited is any indication, it should all be automatic, provided that the games are $14.99 or less and they total it up after each pair to have the promo applied. If they ring ALL of them up, then total at the end, only the cheapest games will end up being free.

So, it's a little better than last time, when they had to scan a barcode after each one, but still had some hiccups.

I've moved like $140 BBV to $200 GS and still have $90 BBV left that I intend to move tonight or tomorrow.

Is this advertised at your BBVs? I stopped by the one on my way home, and there was nothing advertised about it at all. I had hoped to pick up some Xbox/GC games on the cheap for my own use (Too cheap to go 7th gen) but there wasn't anything even worth buying... so I didn't ask about the B1G1 deal.
I have these that may need to be added to the list:

All Pro Football 2K8 - GS trade-in $2
Call of Juarez - GS trade-in $5
NBA Street Homecourt - GS trade-in $5

If any of these are $14.99 (or lower) at BB let me know and I'll add 'em to the list.
Can confirm NBA street Homecourt is at least 14.99.

Through a strange circumstance, I ended up spending $12 at Gamestop for Viking and FF: RotSS, which traded in for $62 at BB. With $48 of the BB credit, I ended up with:

Armored Core 4 - $14.99 || Traded into Gamestop for $7, after bonuses $12.70
THP8 - FREE || Traded into Gamestop for $3, after bonuses $8.30
WWE vs. RAW 2007 - $9.99 || Traded into Gamestop for $4, after bonuses $9.40
Shrek the Third - FREE || Traded into Gamestop for $5, after bonuses $10.50
Bullet Witch - $9.99 || Traded into Gamestop for $4, after bonuses $9.40
FF: RotSS (360) - FREE || Traded into Gamestop for $4, after bonuses $9.40
Spiderman 3 - $9.99 || Traded into Gamestop for $5, after bonuses $10.50
Spiderman 3 - FREE || Traded into Gamestop for $5, after bonuses $10.50

And after pre-ordering NCAA Football 2009, I received a bonus 20% in credit, giving me a grand total of $97.86 in credit for what initially cost me $12. I have $12.xx left in credit at Blockbuster and a "2 Xbox 360 for $15" trade coupon, so I should be able to tack on an extra $26 in credit with two copies of Spiderman 3.
