Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

SPECIAL NOTE (B1G1 free on $14.99 and under used games through August 4th):
All used games under $14.99 are buy one get one free through August 4th NOW OVER.

The second post has games that you may want to trade in to Gamestop to transfer some credit from BB to GS. Unfortunately with the end of the $10 extra promo at Gamestop this is much less useful than before. Some people may have the $15 bonus coupon or want to use the current GS deal (trade 3 get an extra 10%, trade 4 get an extra 20%, trade 5 get an extra 30%) so we'll keep that post going until the B1G1 free ends at Blockbuster.

Even though the B1G1 sale is now over, I'm leaving this info up for a few days for those who bought stuff and still want to trade it in to Gamestop (you have till the 10th there).

SPECIAL NOTE #2 (DS Lite's and new DS games now available at most BB stores!):
Starting just on July 15th, most Blockbuster stores got shipments of DS Lites and a wide assortment of new DS games that they've never had for sale in the past. Titles include NSMB, Professor Layton, Mario Party DS, and High School Musical ;).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are currently taking preorders for NCAA 09, Madden 09, Star Wars Force Unleashed, Fallout 3, Soul Calibur IV, and a few others (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means [hightlight]regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. They just started in mid July selling DS Lites at most stores as well. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by many regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.

so seen like this thread is going back to what it used to be. A simple price reference thread and advices on games XD flippings are dying down due to the B1G1 promotion ends. Everyone seen happy with their successes which is great. Now time for you to play those games? Time for me to do MGS4 on Big Boss Extreme! Have a fun time playing games you got from flippings guys. I know I will.
And again I would like to thanks the amazing IO and every contributors to the thread. Yall been way too kind.

I now regret not going through the psp games at BB, seeing as Nikadimas scored 47 games and my madden psp comes soon. So stupid of me! Also passing up Futurama for xbox. I saw it at GS for $29.99 and was like WTF! It was 9.99 at BB, maybe marked wrong. Cant believe I passed on that. I wanted to play it, but thought meh I can get it 9.99 - discounts at GS if I want it later, WRONG!

Oh, also on the new GS ad, it says you get free disc defenders (just clear round stickers that go on the discs)if you buy $20 or more in used games, so make sure you ask for them since your buying the games anyways, they're FREE!

I've spent over $20 a few times this week, maybe bring receipts next time i go to buy something ehh.

I'm surprised at my BBV gamecube grabs:
Mario Party 7
TMNT
Naruto Clash of Ninja 2
MLB SlugFest 2004
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Wario Ware, Inc.
Mario Sunshine
Resident Evil 4
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
Pikmin 2
Mario Golf
Sonic Riders
Odama
Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

Damn, hearing about all these good deals. Why didn't I go to my BBV sooner, I guess its cause I didn't know they sold their games.#-o#-o I wish I could score Killzone Liberation for a decent price.

Just wanted to post that I picked up the following from my GS credit
(Dvds buy 2 get 3)
Juno
Heroes Season 1
Family Guy vol. 1(seasons 1-2, i think)
Indy Jones box set
and
FireFly complete series

also got (with 20%)
Blacksite
World series of poker

All cost me $60ish.

I work at Blockbuster and managed to snag these from the B1G1 Free for XBOX360.

Stranglehold
Stuntman: Ignition
Crackdown
Tony Hawk's Proving Ground
NBA 2K8

Not bad of a deal.
So I have been in hawaii for the last two weeks, and boy the opportunities for any flipping between GR and GS was totally crap. I did see brand new PS2 memory cards on sale for 9.99 so I bought 2. This was at the ala moana GR in case there are any CAGers also in hawaii. So for about 22 in GR credit, which cost me about $5 in cash, I think it was awesome. But not as awesome as some of the crazy flipping multipliers some have been pulling off, which I am totally jealous of, so congrats.
Your joking right.....
I have ample of flip opportunities and I would trade them and all the credit(1500$) I have for two weeks in hawaii
the blue right ?, maybe available by pre-order at bbvideos
but Gamerush might have it.

i'll checked tomorrow

my gamerush has every console for sale, even a Gamecube lol
Please let me know, i will go get some game any trade in to BB to get the Blue PSP if i can pre-order from them.
so uh..anymore talk on this sale being extended? I don't really mind no more games added, I just wanna buy a ton of games on Thursday, when I get paid.
Yes it got extended for one more week.
Thanks.

I just hope the shelves aren't completely barren by then.
They are at mine. Not to mention the amount of defective games we have had to destroy.
Was it ever released publicly or just a well guarded secret? Checked back about 9 pages but my eye didn't pass over it.
If you're asking about the $15 NCAA bonus coupon, it was a handout that each store got. They had stacks of probably at least 50-100 cards each. My local EB manager couldn't get it to work on more than two games. Very funky promotion.

Welcome to the CAG rdogg. Quick question for you. I wanted to trade in Fatal Inertia yesterday and was shot down because it had no cover art. Since when does GR not take in games without cover art? During this past promotion, I've bought at least 16 games that were disc only, no case art, no instructions, just a disc and a generic case.
Anyone have the link for that $15 coupon and tips on using it? I assume that times it works the person ringing you up didn't cause a commotion?
I'm convinced this coupon is the reason I was banned from at least 1 GS, so be careful.

I think because your only allowed to use 1 per store, when I visited 3/4 stores in quick succession trading the same games over and over (spider man mostly), and using copies of the coupon. I showed up on some Lost Prevention report and was thus banned.

I'm so glad the perfect flipping storm is over. Once my GS credit is gone, it will be back to Target/BB flipping :)

Can that $15 coupon be used multiple times or just once? If it can be used multiple times I'll go pre-order like 4 games at my GS to get one of their remaining cards.

It has always been like that. No cover art means no deal for them. You might want to try arguing that though. Maybe you'll get that one good employee who knows how to look up the games.

I've actually never been allowed to trade in games without coverart to BBV. They said something about how it has to scan, which is bull because they can clearly search for the title. After getting shot down repeatedly, I decided it wasn't worth it and only pick up games with coverart to trade in.

Cover art is very YMMV. I've gotten away with trading in every bundle related copy without cover art. It's borderline irrelevant since if the game is in the system all the clerk has to do is search for it on the computer. They can still use the game as a rental copy regardless so there's almost no reason why they can't take it provided it works and stock/display space isn't an issue. I've also been told by both clerks and managers that the cover art rule only applied to DVD movies and not video games.

Unfortunately from my experiences most if not all BBV clerks aren't trained on how to search for the barcode and will use that as an excuse not to accept them. And then there will times where the manager is so damn anal they'll refuse them anyway. It's better to just shoot for cover art unless you're flipping a game from a bundle of some sort in which case you should already have prepared yourself for a hefty amount of resistance.

I had a brief period where the lack of cover art was a problem, but I heard that in a DM meeting, they were told that only movies require cover art, so your problem is a simple training issue, you may want to talk to the manager and suggest that your friend in california trades without cover art and you were wondering if the cover art requirement was this store only ?

I typically keep my best copies for the worst stores as any reduction in eye rolling is a good thing.

I did argue before about it. I said that there were used games on the shelves with no cover art and other Blockbusters don't seem to have a problem with these trades (I lied). He gave me a snotty retort like, "Well, I don't know how OTHER Blockbusters do their business, but I know how THIS one does. We don't take them without the covers."
Sooo... I searched around thru the thread for the scan of the $15 coupon, and couldn't find it.... anyone wanna help a brotha out?
Check my post history or this thread. I posted it in here a couple of days ago.

Sheesh. It only took me 5 minutes to find it the second time around. >_>

Kunia posted it in here as well.

I was able to trade in 1 copy of EoJ to BBV without the cover art, as well as R6V2. I don't know if the employee didn't know about the rule or what, but she just looked up the games. Then when I tried my 2nd copy of EoJ without cover, I've been declined at every store, and it's always the manager telling me they can't take those back. I also asked them then how come they sell games without covers, and they're response was that those are different because it's their own stuff. One manager even told me about BBV used to give them copies of DVDs (like Elf) and the UPC code is punched out, which means they can't trade those back in, since the items have to be able to scan. I didn't know about how movies and games have different rules though...and seems like most BBV managers don't either. lol.

I wouldn't try to use this coupon if a manager or some tight ass employee is around. I have a feeling im in hot water with one of my local GS's that I thought was cool because I tried to use it when one of the fat ugly women type managers was there and she quickly waddled over and told the guy who was doing my trades to not let me use the coupon. Then she just took the coupon and said "I can handle disposing of that for you."

I came in later to return DBZ 2 and exchange it for number 3 or whatever for wii b/c I bought the wrong game. I saw her looking at my printout and it looked like she was emailing someone or something.

Thanks for the information regarding the $15 coupon, I just traded in the 10 I had left for two preorders (Fallout 3 CE and undecided.) Got my 50% that way and it was kinda like having the 2 for $10. As for the BBV without coverart debacle, they can look the game up in the system perfectly fine. Time Crisis 4 apparently does not scan so both times I traded it in (at two different locations) they had to look it up manaually. The first time the manager did it so I was paying attention but the second BBV I went to the associate told me it wouldn't take TC so I told her how to look it up manually from my first experience heh. I love when sales associates at stores lie when they don't know how to do something. Happens all the time in alot of places.

Would you mind listing the 10 titles and the amount with 50% each brought?
Thank you

Yea, sorry about that. Disclaimer: the coupon booklet I assume all Gamestops get to scan in the various deals they have going on would not work on the computer when he scanned it this morning at 10:15am. He had to do the 50% manually (which he calculated wrong and I didn't get $4 doh!)

TestDrive Unlimted $6+1.80 (+0.60 EDGE)
Cabela's Alaskan Adventure $6+1.80 (+0.60 EDGE)
Juiced 2 $6+1.80 (+0.60 EDGE)
Star Trek Legacy $6+1.80 (+0.60 EDGE)
Virtua Fighter 5 (PS3) $8+2.40 (+0.80 EDGE)

($32*.5)+$32 should have been $16 for $48 total before edge but oh well. I got 44.80 for them. Actually not near the +$5 for yesterday's deal. Damn 6pm closing.

So you received only 30% plus 10% edge?

no base of 32 * 50% is $16 so $32+$16 is $48. I got $44 and change. So I guess I actually got 40%. Don't think I am going to go back to get it changed though. I guess if you do get the 50% as intended it would be like $3.20 extra per game so it is close enough to yesterdays $5.00.
Is this confirmed?
I got the B1G1 today so it should be true. I mean, I doubt they would just have it on Monday (or does BBV do that update in the middle of the week thing?)

The sale started on a Tuesday, so it would make sense to end on a Monday.

wait, is NBA 2k8 now part of the B1G1? cuz i had to pay 24.99 for my copy :(

Guys, I can confirm it's extended. My store has a little star-shaped sign posted just below the original purple b1g1 sign that says "Until 7/28."

DMC4 gets 28.50 at BBV? last time i checked it got 25 at mine :/

TIV PS3 HAZE 23$

So this was a little surprising, I know there was chatter about the trade in prices being adjusted over the weekend, and not Monday night as in the past, but this traded for a full 10$ more on Saturday, so Dump Day has officially been moved to Sunday. I'm so glad I was not overcome by greed, as I only had 1 more copy to trade, I often buy them over the weekend from stores close to my home, to dump at stores close to my work, so I guess that approach is now risky!!

Hmm..I wonder what else dropped. I need just a few more trades to get a Wii (as a present for my 70-year-old parents. Yeah, that's sad, huh?). So I was trying to figure out what else I can pick up with the GS 20% coupon.

^ thats what I said. My friend traded it in, & he wanted unreal 3 right then so I couldnt go get cash. I hope they put it out for sale b4 the B1G1 ends. I can pick it up along with Crackdown or Enchanted Arms

Unless they're going to do more drops tomorrow if the sale is definitely extended, most drops are hanging at $16.99 to keep them from being part of the sale. FEAR Files dropped from $19.99 to $16.99 this weekend, along with a lot of Wii games.
For the 360? I'm going to assume it sells for $14.99 then.
I wish....

Just called to check, both 360 and PS3 versions sell for $34.99 used. GS w/ coupon is WAY better if you want Dark Sector. $26.99 before discounts.
