Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.

I just noticed from Friend of Sonic's OP, that Lego Batman - 360 trades in for $10 as of 6//26/09. Could this be right? With the B1G1, you can get it for 7.50 if you're already getting another game.

FYI, as of monday I saw a reprice for a few games. Nothing too stellar(it only shows for your own inventory) but wii madden was going to 14.99(I think) and the best price drop, mirror's edge 360 going to 14.99!!!

So if your store has a copy of x360 mirror's edge, monday it's gonna be 14.99 and eligible for the b1g1.

I wish I'd checked this out sooner. I did manage to find copies of Viva Pinata and Lock's Quest on DS, however. I wasn't looking for them, but for $5 each thought what the heck. Was really hoping to find FF and Sonic Chronicles on DS and Okami and HotD on Wii. I may check a few more stores tomorrow.

Thanks, as always, to people who have posted info on this deal :)

I found about every coveted title that has been mentioned recently. I ended up flipping most of them. Keeping Onechanbara, Okami, Ninjatown and Lock's Quest. The rest ended up going to Fight Nights or 50% extra flips. Finding it rather hard to continue to get credit at BB with the select few titles that actually turn a 1:1 at BB. Probably going to hit up one last BB tomorrow for credit and ride it out through next week and be done with it for a while.

Its a shame most of the titles on this round of B1G1 I either owned previously, or just have no interest in. Most of the other times there were games I had really wanted to play. Not so much this time.

Anyone else find any other decent fllppables back to BBV? I've pretty much exhausted the Race Pro/Cranium Kabooki (and Tenchu before) to all BBV's in the area.

By the way it doesn't hurt to ask (especially if you're close with or the manager is cool) if you can buy a higher priced game and then have them manually give you the second game (14.99 and under) free. I got QoS for the PS3 this way. Just FYI if any of you have cool store managers or are frequent customers (IO you epsecially could probably get away with this).

Thanks for the heads up Vortextk. I'll definitely keep an eye out for mirror's edge to buy on monday.

But I'll be holding you personally responsible when I develop motion sickness. ;)
I'm in the exact position that you are in. I've traded in so many copies of Race Pro, Cranium, and Tenchu that I've almost lost track of which stores I've traded which game to. I didn't get a chance to trade any copies of wheelman before GS raised the price either.

I've been trying to figure out new trades to BBV with no luck. The idea of spending cash a BBV makes me sick to my stomach. I was pretty careless and spent $150 in credit on 12 used blu rays in the months before the B1G1. I haven't even watched any of them either. I really hope theres a new GS->BBV flip one of these days.

If the values held up and with the new GS coupon, Death Jr. & Samurai Warriors would be decent flips. I jotted down the names of a few games that seemed interesting, but may lead to nothing:

Sam & Max: Season 1 - $14.99
Spray - $17.99 (still $32.99 on Amazon, but about 8 months old)
Rygar - $24.99
Up - $24.99
Rayman Raving Rabids 2 - $26.99
Shaun White Snowboarding - $26.99
Kung Fu Panda: Legendary Warriors - $26.99

These are the only games available locally that I think actually have a chance of being close to 1-to-1 trade ratio. If I can find complete copies tomorrow, I'll pick them up and try them out. I figure worst case, I can return them. I may have to resort to Tenchu at 24.99 - 30%... :whistle2:/

I think UP wii has a good chance of being decent. I can ask when I go in later this morning. Although just about every time I ask how much a game Trades in for, the CSR gives me the used price. lol I'm on the east coast so I can run over there in a little while.

Dude...that's sweet. That's the main game I was going for, but the price tag said $29.99, so I didn't even bother checking. Does anyone know if this was a fluke, or is Grid cheaper and on the B1G1 list?

price for grid was $24.99 he had to manually make the adjustment.

welp, still no real luck with this B1G1 deal, but I was able to make out great on another deal. 4 of the closest BBVs to me are non-franchise, so they normally just sell their games at $20, and lower it from there. this week they all had a 50% off deal, so I was able to get the following:

-Fable 2 $10
-Hawx PS3 $10
-HOTD Overkill $10
-De Blob $7.50
-WWE SVR 2009 PS3 $10
-FEAR 2 $10
-Skate 2 360 (possibly marked down because it had photocopied cover art) $8.50
-Persepolis $2.50
-Cloverfield Bluray $7.50

I think I did pretty well... still needing one of those GTAIVs with the B1G1 though

Went down to the Blockbuster in Revere,MA and Lynn, MA and could not find any thing I liked. I really wanted to do the FNR4 trade in but could not find any on the list. But I did pick up MLB2k8 and Fracture for 10 bucks. QoS is 20 bucks in my area. Funny thing is I selected Turok + Fracture but unfortunately they had no turok disks. Next I selected Mercenaries 2, no disks >_

WOW, I just went to BBV by my house and they had absolutely no decent games for 14.99 and under. I was thinking of going to another BBV that's close but decided F it, I don't really want to deal with the hassle of getting FNR4 and trying to exchange it for something else.
Went back this morning and grabbed Army of Two and Lego Batman for $10.81.
new drops?
new drops?
Army of two has been 14.99 for awhile, thought lego batman was already too, not sure. Few new drops monday though, like I said only great thing I saw as 360 mirror's edge and possibly wii madden 09 for the b1g1.

the guy said he got both games $10.81 meaning the games were 9.99 each
Right, but I don't think they should be. And the exact price would be 10.59 so it sounds like a credit that was "close enough".
sales tax varies state to state

I just found another game apart of the FNR4 deal that is rarely seen or talked about.

MX vs. ATV Untamed PS3 which is $14.99.

I also saw a copy of Madden 09 DS for $10 and NCAA Football 09 for $20.
I also saw a copy of Madden 09 DS for $10 and NCAA Football 09 for $20.
Ditto on the Madden 09. I also saw Contra 4 tagged 9.99... I shoulda picked that up, doh

I managed to find House of the Dead and Sonic Chronicles today at another BBV- no manuals though. This particular store didn't have anything marked right, so there was a good bit of stuff there. I wish I was more flip-saavy.

Well, I'm officially done with this sale and I enjoyed myself quite much. Spend a little more cash than I wanted but its cool.

From this sale I got from my trades of the BB games to GS:
2 copies of Fight Night Round 4 Xbox 360 (Opened one to play for a little while. The other will probably sale or give as a gift debating on this decision. Might if all else fails take it back to get my credit added to the $154 I have already.)
$154 in store credit (Will probably spend this in the next B2G1 sale)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Xbox 360 (Paid in full this pre-order in store credit)
TNA Impact! PS3 (Kept this will probably give it away to one of my nephews)
The World Ends With You DS (Finace has it for her DS)

OMG YOUR SOO COOL!!!
You even explain why you got those games, because your giving them to other people(who probably will never play the games), but you got them free!!!

Your sooo cooolll!! Why would you brag about being a cheap duck??? lol

Looked last two pages and didn't see, is it confirmed that on Tuesday there should be more games put out? Either rental conversions or just stock moving.

Tuesday: 007, GTA4, Spider-man WOS to trade for FN4, kept Folklore.

Today, Fracture, Time Shift, Mercenaries 2, The Club PS3 $20.

I looked for another set of FN trade in's for a friend, but all those were gone.

Budz, we printed out the transfers(to other stores, and to used) last night when I worked to prep them for the sunday morning guy so it would be easier on him. I saw just a couple game reprices and the only rental -> used on games I saw was 360 ninja gaiden and...something on the wii, I forget. Again, you only see what is based off on your inventory but all stores game inventory is getting pretty small. Only really big stores have many more rentals than us, most are probably in the same boat.

I didn't have a problem taking FNR4 back. Waited four days between transactions and returned it to a store near home after buying it across town at one near work.

I didn't have a problem returning FNR4. I got it across town and returned the same day like an hour later at a different store (maybe not the best idea). Got another one from the store I got the original from gonna return it to another.

This site has officially turned me into a CAG flipper. Spent many hours today going to 6 BBV. After just two visits to GS (and trading 3 for the new FNR4 - which I will return soon, I have already broken even) I still have 12 games (2 GTA4 360's worth $21 each in trade w/6) to trade to GS. I think it should net me btwn $150 AND $200 profit. Think another PS3 system from GS is in order for what essentially cost me $200 bucks. Thanks again CAG, it's has been a good couple of days!

PS - I even was able to keep a few for myself and the kids to play = )

Yesterday: Got Spore Creatures and Forza 2 for $10 and Dark Sector and Condemned 2 for $7. I saw Loco Roco 2 for $15, but didnt see anything else I wanted that was $15, and I was in a rush, so I'll go back for it tomorrow.
price for grid was $24.99 he had to manually make the adjustment.
Hmm...I wonder if I went into my local BB that had Grid, if they would also adjust the price for the sale? I might have to check...

i think i may have OD-ed a bit on flipping/trading bbv games... ended up with:

4 copies of FNR4
$196 gamestop credit
edge membership
$120 amazon credit
$200+ cash

spent about $450 or so @ various bbv's... and that doesnt include all the target clearance flips :p

Obviously you OD'ed on it, you lost money on the deal. HAHAHA.

I wonder how many more "flippers" lost money on this hahahaha. You paid cash for Gamestop and Amazon credit hahaha, you could probably find a gift card on ebay for cheaper and less hassle.

AHAHAHAHA you "flippers" make me laugh!!!!
