Welcome to the Official CAG Blockbuster/Gamerush video game deal thread.

Sadly, Blockbuster has cut down it's maximum trade-in value from $33-$35 to $25 or so and dropped all other values along with it. So welcome to the new world of Blockbuster featuring Gamestop trade-in prices (but without the Edge card and frequent trade-in deals to make it more appealing). Continue on if you feel like there is any need...

ALERT: More POG games (disc-only used games sold for $9.99) sighted at stores week of Nov 9th
Many CAGs have reported finding new shipments of POG games (prepacked previously owned games) showing up on Nov 10th-12th. This is YMMV as many stores will not get them. But if they do, they are usually in clear cases, disc-only, and are priced at $9.99. Some notables include Call of Duty World at War, CoD Modern Warfare, Halo 3, Halo Wars, etc. It appears to be all 360 games this time. These are disc-only refurbs but are usually in excellent shape. Note that these all have the same barcode that rings up $9.99 - if you find the same games with regular cover art and specific bar codes for that used game, then they are not part of this POG stock and will be regular prices (generally way over $9.99 for the newer titles).

ALERT: B1G1 NOW OVER (but possibly returning in late November)
The latest Buy 1 Get 1 Free sale on games $14.99 has ended. The following list of $14.99 and under used games will be maintained for the next sale though. It seems highly likely from various reports that a B1G1 sale will be returning some time in late November. Some are even a decent buy without the B1G1 sale:

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush (and Blockbuster for that matter) brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases, even when using credit from a Value card.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them (see here for a list of GR stores: http://www.blockbuster.com/content/v.4.286.1.0/media/gameStoreList.pdf) then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values. I'm going to elaborate on the last sentence as people apparently don't understand that when I say regular BB's have the same trade-in values as Gamerush that it means regular Blockbuster stores accept game trade-ins just like Gamerush stores.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas 2007 and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Dec 2008) most Blockbuster stores are selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, Wii's, and DS's. They do not sell PSP's. However, they have also started selling other electronics including Blu-ray players, portable DVD players, and digital picture frames. As a result of not selling used hardware, however, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Both Gamerush and regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for new games for a $5 deposit (or you can pay any other amount beyond that). Gamerush stores will get many more games in than the regular stores but unfortunately a preorder at either place is not a guarantee you will get the game. Sometimes they do not get certain titles in even if you preorder them months in advance. And even if they do get them, it tends to be a few days later than other stores.

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, most regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Featured Preorders
Most Blockbuster stores (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are featuring several games for preorder. $5 is required for a deposit. There are a few others in addition to what is listed below:

Multiplatform
Beatles Rock Band
Madden 10

:360:

:ps3:

:wii:

:ds:

They usually get these featured games in on release day like any other game retailer (though note - as of late they have been very bad about this and have gotten many games several days late!). Note that you can preorder just about any other game as the system will allow them to preorder anything they have listed (yes, even at regular stores). I have preordered Mario Super Sluggers and Dragon Quest IV myself even though they are not "featured" as preorders. However, if it is not a featured preorder they may or may not get it in, and it may arrive as late as Friday of the release week (postscript - Mario Super Sluggers did indeed arrive on Friday when every other store had it Tues. or Weds. and Dragon Quest IV never arrived).

Of course you can cancel a preorder at any time and get your deposit back or switch it to another game, even after the game comes out. So don't worry about preordering something they might not get - you can always switch it to something else. However, since I've always used credit for purchasing things at Blockbuster I'm not sure how they would handle a cancellation of a cash deposit. They may simply issue a credit to your account so beware of that if placing a cash deposit on a preorder.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade-In Values
Trade-in price quotes will now be maintained by CAG Friend of Sonic in the THIRD post of this thread. The second post will continue to highlight specific games used to transfer credit from Blockbuster to Gamestop and vice versa.

Trade-in prices are usually universal at both Blockbuster and Gamerush, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Sunday with trade-in price drops following the next day (Monday). Thus any quotes given in this thread will almost certainly be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush website
The old Gamerush web site is now defunct, but the following link will take you to Blockbuster online, which may or may not have some info there about games. I dunno - I haven't looked at it in years.
This did start today here. But the pickin's were slim at Makaloa and Kahala. Piikoi was already pitiful before this announcement. Looks like they haven't restocked since getting hammered with the GS FNR4 tradeins.
Well, the stores seem to be making a conscious shifts away from games - The Piikoi store's been slowly shrinking down the floorspace games get through the couple rearrangements they've done this year, and now I come back after the summer and the 360 games are down to like two shelves, and the Kahala store's gone from basically an entire aisle of the deep racks to a stack of stuff on a shelf. Hopefully it just is a stock issue, I guess we'll see as the holiday release season approaches if they're gonna start stocking up on lots of stuff again.
might be a stupid question but is it possible to somehow check the stores stock if they got a new release in or still carry a game the employees at mine are so unknowledgeable and just say things like uhhhh i see it in our system but no clue if were getting it in. You dont know if your stocking the game a few days before it comes out? How? If anyone can shed some light on this that would be great.
You're wording the question funny. Are you asking if they do carry something or they will carry something not yet released? If it's the latter, the computer usually doesn't say we have any on order until VERY close to release.

Oh, wow, this is sooner than expected. I don't know if I really want to make the rounds again-- it's usually a very long process to go to each store and get the games I want. Almost not worth it so soon.

It was a no go at both of my local BBV's, or at least they didn't have any signage. I probably should have asked or just tried, but I had limited time. I'll check again tonight or tomorrow. They didn't have much, but I did see two copies of GHWT Wii, which I might flip to GS.
Just got back from the local BBV. Nothing.

No signage and the games were so shitty I didn't bother asking about B1G1.
Sounds like my local BBVs...

My local one had some bins outside with the B1G1 $14.99 or less signs, although most of the games in them were over $14.99.

Very slim pickings but I ended up with:
007 and Onechanbara both for the 360.

I've been wanting to try Onechanbara and figured 007 couldn't hurt since the only other 360 games that they had for the deal was Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and like Meet the Robinsons.

Saw this last night at one of my local stores. Thought it was a local only thing. Either way the selection was very limited unlike the first BOGO sale. Probably not even going to bother going to any other local BB's.

Can anyone else confirm that Onechanbara (360) is actually $14.99 used or was this another mis-priced title ?

Thanks

** nevermind saw it in the first post **

Onechanbara is the only new game on the list I wanted to try, I'll search for that one, but besides that unless I find GTA4 or something like that, this B1G1 deal is a dud again.

DFW Gamestops still have the 50% trade in bonus on any games right? Think I saw the sign still up a couple days ago.
If so, :)

Please feel free to spit on me if necessary, I don't follow this thread well. Is the 14.99 price for these games like, SW lightsaber duels, FF Echoes used or new?

Was at a BBV last night, unaware of this sale, when I was trying to decide between buying Onechanbara Bikini Squad and Golden Axe Beastrider each for $14.99 on 360. Got Bikini Squad and then learned about B1G1 1/2 hour later. Doh!

Golden Axe Beastrider isn't in OP yet
Please feel free to spit on me if necessary, I don't follow this thread well. Is the 14.99 price for these games like, SW lightsaber duels, FF Echoes used or new?
Chhhhwggggh - ptoey! ;)

Used, my man.

Haven't seen in posted yet, but Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings (Wii) was priced @14.99. I picked it up earlier, but traded it back in for the 50% bonus. A decent game for $7.50.

Saw Golden Axe Beastrider for PS3, but unfortunately, it's still $19.99. Guess it's only the 360 version that's $14.99.

Just got these at blockbuster:
Viva Pinata (DS) - 9.99
Madden 09 (DS) - 9.99 (free)
Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS) - 14.99
Spiderman Web of Shadows (360) - 14.99 (free)

great DS games for the kids

Store Locater for blockbuster is broken. I just moved to a new city and only know where 1 blockbuster is, and its 10 min away. Any hope of a list? I used my navigation and every blockbuster that comes up is no longer there.

@ The person who was asking if we can check if we're getting stuff in.

We can check to see if there are movies/games coming in in the computer. There's a column called "on order" and if there is a number in that column, then we are getting the game. It's kind of weird too. If the column says there are 10 on order, we'll only get 5 in. Don't know why it does that. It's also good to note that the column usually says 0 on order weeks ahead of time so if a game is coming out in 2 months, we won't know.

You could try the yahoo yellow pages.

Without knowing what city you are in, it's hard to give you a better answer.

yeah one of my blockbusters has started this sale as well, but there was no sign up and their used game selection was really pathetic. i still got 2 games from them though..

:360:
gta4 - 14.99

oh and since it wasn't updated on the OP, i figured i mention that i saw

Pretty nice score from store one of the day:

:wii:
Boom Blox
Metroid Prime 3
Sonic Unleashed

:ps3:
GTA IV

All four were $14.99

There were also a ton of Wii GH:WT, but none had manuals. Boom Blox was a game I was really hoping to find. I hope I can find Pikmin (Wii) and Zelda: PH (DS) at the other stores later.

Thanks for the heads up OP; I hit up two BBV's in Tampa during lunch and picked up the following.

1st Stop: Hillsborough and Town & Country
:360: Onechanbara Bikini Zombie Slayers
Mercs 2

2nd Stop: Neptune and Dale Mabry
:360: Wall-E
Forza 2
Condemned 2
Dead or Alive 2

Not a bad haul, spent like $32 total. Most of them are going on eBay later this week. Great deal.

need some kind of price list cause one local stored had some used games but many were above 15 and i wonder if any did not have an updated price...

saw dirt tho - is that any good? (edit- i know it has decent reviews on metacritic, 83, just like the first hand feedback... i have grid from codemasters and thats been pretty cool)

Check the 1st post in this thread.

Ended up getting:
Onecanbara
Bullet Witch
Wall-E
Unreal Tournament 3 for xbox 360
All complete with case and manual
I have really wanted onechanbara and bullet witch so this was a sweet deal.

Blockbuster TiVs:

X360/PS3

Terminator: Salvation - $17
Midnight Club LA - $10
Sonic Unleashed - $8

Wii
Destiny of Zorro - [cannot trade]
Space Camp - [cannot trade]
Check the 1st post in this thread.
sorry i should of been more clear... ive checked the 1st post as ive been all over these sales since the last 2.... but there were a good amount of newer games i was curious about that aren't on the list and may just be more then 15

there actually weren't very many qualifying games there, most were over 15 which made me curious if any didn't have the latest price

My haul from 1 store today. I am going to list prices to help out as well.
PSP
FF: Crisis Core 14.99
DS
Prince of Persia The Fallen King 9.99
LoZ: Phantom Hourglass 14.99
PS3
Resistance: Fall of Man 14.99
TNA Impact 9.99
360
Onechanbara 14.99
The Bigs 9.99
Wii
Metal Slug Anthology 9.99
GH World Tour 9.99
Tak and the Guardian of Gross 6.99
GH Aerosmith 6.99
Monster 4x4 World Circuit 9.99
Excite Truck 9.99
Bolt 9.99

Not bad, happiest with Onechanbara, Phantom Hourglass and Metal Slug. I have been looking for a good deal on Metal Slug for a long time. Most of the other stuff is "Hey for $5 or less how bad could it be." All the games were complete too, so I was happy about that.

Made it two so far.
PS3 GTA IV(can't believe these are still out there) was $14.99, someone reported they got it for $9.99
Wii My Sims Party
360 Hannah Montana
DS Zelda Phantom Hourglass

Hmmm, spread it out over all systems. With the last two I rented the kids a Bratz movie but clerk rang it up as a purchase. After finally getting the right price on it, there is no return date on receiipt, it shows as a purchase. I guess that means it's a keeper.
IO, the sale runs through 9/14. That will make a difference since price drops happen on Mondays.
Yeah, I should have looked at a Calendar. In my head I figured the 14th was a Tuesday and since promos always end on Monday I took took one day off. Now I see that the 14th is a Monday...

I went to my local blockbuster that usually has the sales, and they didn't have the b1g1 sale going on. I asked the clerk and she said they weren't having the sale to her knowledge. Does the sale start Tomarrow or today? Or is it a fanchise thing only?

its an everywhere thing. everything by me is still cleared out from the last sale...when i cleared everything out. only flips from gs to blockbuster i know right now are

racepro GS 17.99 (w/ edge) -->> 15 blockbuster
rock revolution 4.04 (w/ edge) -->> 4 blockbuster

none of the blockbusters around me had anything decent...so i ended up buying season four of lost.

then dropped by a kmart and picked up a Rock Band SE for 14.71. so the day wasn't a complete waste.

Picked up -

Wii -
GHWT - 9.99
We Ski - Free
Sonic Unleashed - 14.99

360-
Onechanbara- Free

I passed on Onechanbara for Wii (9.99) because I couldn't find anything to pair it with

sucks the blockbusters in fort wayne said they moved 90% of all of their used games to BLUFFTON for some world record bullcrap..

did find

G.hero decades (final copy for 9.99) Ds and some lame ass james bond game for 9.99

probally do a low ball auction on the james bond game once i get the rest of my crap ready

I will have to see what I can flip to GS since I just used up the last of my credit from last time to buy the Dissida PSP Bundle.

It would probably be a good idea to add the more familiar "circle of doom" to the 360 Kingdom Under Fire listing in the OP, so as to avoid any confusion between past and upcoming games.
its an everywhere thing. everything by me is still cleared out from the last sale...when i cleared everything out. only flips from gs to blockbuster i know right now are

racepro GS 17.99 (w/ edge) -->> 15 blockbuster
rock revolution 4.04 (w/ edge) -->> 4 blockbuster

none of the blockbusters around me had anything decent...so i ended up buying season four of lost.

then dropped by a kmart and picked up a Rock Band SE for 14.71. so the day wasn't a complete waste.
Don't forget Cranium Kabookii new/used/BBV

14.99/9.99 -->> 16 :applause:

Ok, if it is going everywhere and there is no sign up what should I do? Should I ask the manger? OR should I just wait and see what's up? They just have a ton of great games at the 14.99 price.

make sure its a corporate store. if it is, the sale is going on regardless of what they tell you. its an auto barcode that stores cannot control so it will ring up automatically.

I will have to check this out tomorrow...I picked up some great DS games the last time I went. Would love to get a copy of FE: shadow dragon...

i would just ask. that's what i did, and the guy just said that they're doing the b1g1 but couldn't find the sign.

A reminder for those who wants to flip to Amazon, most BBV used games don't have the original case / manual. Well, at least it's true from several stores that I visited yesterday in SoCal. Happy Hunting. :)
