ALERT: Preorders available for a few select games at most Blockbuster stores

Most regular Blockbuster locations (in addition to Gamerush stores of course) are taking preorders for Guitar Hero Aerosmith, Star Wars Force Unleashed, and possibly a few other games (YMMV on the cashier knowing about it). $5 is required for a deposit.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos and to post any trade-in values you have obtained. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system. One of the CAG Wiki editors will then add them to the Wiki.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Gamerush/Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

Due to the questionable stability of the Gamerush brand, it is also permissible to discuss ways of converting credit from Blockbuster to other stores (ie, which games may be used for trading in to other stores such as Gamecrazy or EB/GS). As of right now, we have no indication of Gamerush's imminent demise, but given Blockbuster's ongoing financial difficulties we need to be aware of the possibility.

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Gamerush store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals which we haven't had recently anyway). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (GR to GC to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from GR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

General Info
- Trade-in credit can be placed onto your store account or onto a "Value" card
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- However, credit can be transferred from the store account to a card at any time
- Value cards can be used at any location
- Gamerush stores often do not get new game stock until the Friday of the release week, thus a few days later than most retailers

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gamerush vs. regular Blockbusters
All Blockbuster game-related discussion belongs here. Most threads created in the Deals forum will be merged in to here. There seems to be the impression by many CAGs that if they don't have a Gamerush store near them then this thread does not apply to them. However, regular (non-GR) Blockbuster stores often run the same promos and generally have the same trade-in values.

The key differences:
- Only Gamerush stores sell used video game hardware and generally have a much wider selection of new hardware. Many regular BB stores had a PS3 bundle available over Christmas and since then they have expanded their hardware sales. As of right now (Spring/Summer 2008) most Blockbuster stores are now selling PS3's, Xbox 360's, and Wii's. Most still do not sell handheld systems (a few apparently sell the DS but I've never seen them there). As a result of not selling used hardware, regular Blockbuster stores will not take hardware in for trades.

- Only Gamerush stores allow for preorders of your choice of new games (though, it seems, some stores have stopped taking preorders). On the other hand, some regular Blockbuster stores take preorders for a few select mega-release titles (recent examples: Halo 3, SSBB, Mario Kart, GTA IV).

- While many Gamerush stores have cut back on their new game stock, some regular (non-GR) Blockbusters have started selling new games. They usually have a very limited selection of top-selling new 360, PS3, and Wii games. I will be maintaining a list below here for those with Blockbuster credit but no access to a GR store.

- Trade-in values are controlled centrally and are uniform across all Gamerush and Blockbuster locations EXCEPT if the Blockbuster is a franchise location. You can tell from the receipt if your store is a franchise store. All Gamerush stores are corporate-owned so they will have uniform pricing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New games that may be available for purchase at select non-GR Blockbusters
For those with access to only regular Blockbuster stores but wanting to take advantage of the decent trade-in values Blockbuster offers, this is the list of new games being sold by some regular Blockbuster locations. Note that they will generally not get new games on the release date. They will most likely have them a few days to weeks later. Stock is usually very limited and they do not seem to get restocks of most games. So once something is sold out they will most likely not get it back. Many of the "older "new games in the list below may be hard to find at this point.
Please post if you still see the second one, I would like to get one as well but I get out of class at 1.

Thanks! And thanks edavis0780.
Will do if I'm back before then.
Would any DVD case be accepted when trading in Forza and Marvel separately, or do I need lime green 360 cases? Yeah, a standard DVD case is fine.

lately it's been a bad idea to trade in print outs, but I guess it's YMMA, I for one stopped doing MUA/Forza 2 flipping because I didn't want to get banned. Two stores got mad about me trading them in after I came back.
Anyone know the trade value of Ninja Gaiden Sigma? I actually found a copy of the collector's edition, so I want to unload my regular. Thanks!
What are the features on the CE?
So a trade in account is just a sub-account to the actual BB membership?

And the current flips for the week are Pimp My Ride and Forza 2/MUA?
I guess you can call it that. Basically, the trade in account is simply an asterisk by your account saying that it's ok for BB to trade with you.

I took a little longer than expected, but they only had one left. I'm now the proud owner of a new 60gb PS3 thanks to some financial aid and getting paid today. :bouncy:
anybody know the traded in value for Rainbow six vegas xbox 360?
Not directly, but I did trade in today and the LE is still the same as the wiki, so the regular version could still be the same ($19):

X360 Rainbow Six Vegas LE - $35
X360 Marvel Ultimate Alliance - $15

Unfortunately it seems that I was a little late to `The Bigs', since they quoted me $16 for the PS3 version =( Oh well, the guy at the gamestop where I bought it kept making a big deal of their `7 day satisfaction guarantee,' so it looks like I'll be taking him up on it. =)
wow that was a massive drop for the bigs ps3 from $33 to $16
they might be catching on. in the last few weeks they've been banning people more often

Dude..... I just got back from my local Gamestop and they have the MUA/Forza 2 bundle tagged at $26.99 now. Sucks! Anybody else notice this yet? I brought in a couple of DS games to trade for like the exact amount that it was going to cost..... but that didn't work out.

So theres none left? Oh well... I guess I'll look for an Xbox. =D No biggie, I'll wait for the next deal...

I haven't been to my local GS in ages...did they ever start doing trade-in specials again...also how much are PS3 60GB's going for now if found?
I haven't been to my local GS in ages...did they ever start doing trade-in specials again...also how much are PS3 60GB's going for now if found?
I think the refurb. 60GB PS3s are $430 at GS.
So theres none left? Oh well... I guess I'll look for an Xbox. =D No biggie, I'll wait for the next deal...
No, sorry man. I asked Don Vito but he said that was the last one. There are about 3 more BB's near by, you might want to check them out as well.
GS credit is always much more valuable. With that $70 in GS credit, you can possibly obtain up to $140 in GR/BB credit. Just wait until GS does one of their B2G1 and you can almost triple that credit.
I'm new to this whole thing. I put in a little work today fipping and now I have 105 dollars in credit at Gamestop. Whats the best way to turn EB/GS credit into Blockbuster credit? I saw that a blockbuster near me has a lot of rockband special editions and I want one. I know I can turn the $26.99 Marvel/Forza at gamestop into 40 dollars at blockbuster. Are there any other games to flip from GS to BB besides Forza/MUA? If i flip 4 MUA/forza's at four different blockbusters in a single day, I'll have about enough for rockband though. I have 12 BB in a 5 mile radius from my house. Does that sound like a good idea? I dont know if they're all Gamerush BB, but I'll drive to other BB's. Will I get banned if I trade the same titles at four different places? I dont feel like waiting any longer for the Gamestop B2G1 free deal.

Based on what I read on the thread, BB's do not track trades on a nationwide basis. Each store keeps a record of the trades that you do at the location. You should not have a problem going to different locations. Just one copy of each trade at each location. Dont get greedy and push two copies at one location. With the MUA/Forza, if you print covers, MAKE SURE THEY LOOK LEGIT!!!!!

I recommend a LASER color printer and glossy paper....I know theres a lot of pages in this thread...but I recommend you read through it...theres a lot of tips...

GL....let us know how it goes..

Thanks for the help. I have an individual copy of marvel, so maybe I'll go to office depot or something to color copy it. I just wish I had more than MUA and Forza to work with while I'm visiting these locations. Did MUA/Forza used to be cheaper than $26.99 at GS?

I got enough for a ps3 80gb and then got banned at all but 1 corporate blockbuster! Make sure you trade at corporate blockbusters if you want full value for your trade, franchises also except trades but give you less.

Yeah, the bundle was $19.99 and was a super deal with the 25% off Xbox coupon!

That sucks that it's gone up. The last time I was at a GS, I saw some copies marked at $26.99, but thought that they were old stock, since there were also still copies marked at $19.99.

Living in Long Island, NY I have a few blockbusters near me, but none with a gamerush and have never heard of the game trade in... Is this at all blockbusters or just a select few?

Its at all Blockbuster owned locations, basically, if youre store does total access, it does trades.

Just like Madden 06, i'm sure the MUA/Foza bundle got raised due to the sales numbers going up.
Anyone know what Viva Pinata Party Animals trades for? ;)
That was my first thought when I saw the DOTD on the main page...
Anyone know what Viva Pinata Party Animals trades for? ;)
I was just quoted $8. "Party Animals right" "Yeah."

Amazingly I had to call 5 different BBs (nongamerush) before I could get an answer. The others all told me I had to bring it in because they couldn't tell me until they saw the condition. I've never had this problem at these locations before.

Looks like people are selling the PS3 80gb bundles from blockbuster for nearly 600 bucks. Still undecided if I should keep the PS3 bundle and lose out on a 550 dollar jump in my bank account or keep the ps3 and take the 300 hit it cost me.

What makes sense?

Hmm I wonder if that person was actually looking at the TIV for Party Animals or not. Your post reminds me of when I was a kid trying to track down a copy of Tecmo Superbowl II Special Edition for the SNES. I called several stores and of course they were sold out. Finally I called TRU and the person was like "Hang on let me check..." "Yeah we've got it". I asked the person three times 'You're sure it says Tecmo SuperBowl II Special Edition? It's not Tecmo Superbowl I?" "Yeah I'm sure."

I finally was able to get a ride to the store only to find out that he was full of shit and it was the original.:bomb:

I'll be frank, quit bitchin about how you got screwed over for buying something. Its common sense that when you buy it, the item usually depreciates. Econ 101.

Funny, I just got a quote, $8 for VIVA PINATA and $15 for Viva Pinata PARTY Animals. Looks like a decent flip at 1.5x... I'd rather Pimp My Ride. =D

Ya, GR 60GB PS3s should be $450 new.

I'm going to drop by a BBGR today and ask about party animals. It's probably $15 and a 1.5 flip isn't worth it. The last time I was out flipping one of the employees asked me where I got all of my games. I now have an extremely spoiled cousin whose divorced parents buy him everything he wants, twice

Hey buddy, cut it out. This is not a get rich quick forum and I don't think we care what you do with your PS3. Are you a gamer? Have you used any of your credit to buy something at BBGR that you use? Just curious.
This forum is all about getting rich/credits quick....DUH
It may be about getting credit quick - it has never really been about getting RICH quick. I'm not sure where you got that from. It seems the GR thread has devolved into that a bit recently but it shouldn't be that way. We've always talked of ways to convert BB credit to cash if need be (like your GR is closing or Blockbuster in general is getting out of selling new games or gets in more financial trouble). But in the past it was definitely about ways to build up credit so that you could get in on the preorder deals and such so that you could get games you want to PLAY for cheap.

Let's try to keep the pure profit making discussion to a minimum from now on.

It's going pretty good so far. I flipped two MUA/Forza today even though they are 26.99 (21.59 after edge and 10% off) for 38 dollars BB credit each. 16 dollars profit at each BB isn't much, but whatever, I have a nissan maxima with good gas miliage. I have Gamestop credit for two more MUA/Forza, so I'm going to Gamestop and then two different BB, so I'll have about 150 BB credit (almost enough for Rockband).

The only thing wrong is that I'm not in the BB system yet, so while I was trading my 2nd MUA/Forza, they called the BB where I traded my 1st MUA/forza and set up my account. At the 2nd BB I asked to put my money on a gift certificate because they didnt have the record of my 1st trade yet. I might go back to the 1st BB tomorrow because I don't think the woman activiated my BB reward card yet and my credit is just in that one store's computer, not my nationwide account. :bomb:

man.... here we go again....this isn't a cash out forum.... Most people do it so they can have better deals on games and systems. Not to resell or trick BB into giving them cash.... and in fact that is the worse thing you can do to BB. For one you are not spending that cash at BB. If you want money get a freaking job
