There used to be a coupon to print for it, but now stores should have the bar code to scan at the register.  If not, show them their own web page (above) and maybe they will figure it out.

Note that anything below here might be out of date. To be honest, I have no idea if Blockbuster even takes games for trade-in any more!

What is this thread for?
The primary function of this thread is to discuss current trade-in and sale promos, post any trade-in values you have obtained, and discuss new and used game selection and availability. Please post trade-in values with the date of the trade (or quote) and system.

It is also permissible to discuss system availability, credit issues, etc. As long as it is related to game trades or sales at Blockbuster it is generally OK to discuss it here.

Unlike more tightly focused clearance threads, it is OK to discuss more general Blockbuster issues here as well as trade requests as long as they are kept to a minimum (and usually just during specific deals).

What is this thread NOT for?
Please do not discuss the flipping of games from one Blockbuster store to another should another such opportunity arise (through trade-in deals). It is one thing to "play the market" with trade-in values from one chain to another (BBVto Amazon to EB) - free market buy low/sell high and all that. But taking advantage of loopholes in a single store's policies/promos is frowned upon and has, in the past, led to trade-in bans from BBV.

Blockbuster Game Trading Info
- You must sign up for a trade account in addition to your regular Blockbuster account
- You must sign up for a new trade account at every store you wish to trade at, even if using the same main account
- Trade-in credit will be placed onto your store account
- Credit on store accounts can only be used at that one store
- Clerks at one store cannot see your trading/purchasing history at another store via your account
- Depending on state law you may or may not get sales tax added to your trade-ins (and thus get more than normal). You will always be charged sales tax where applicable on purchases.

Current Trade-In Deals
There are no trade-in deals at this time nor have there been for a very very long time. They did however just recently cut down all their trade-in values to Gamestop-like levels (but without deals to make them more appealing as at GS).

Trade-In Values

Trade-in prices are usually universal at Blockbuster, but can be wildly different at franchise Blockbuster stores. Used game prices change on Monday. We are not currently sure when trade-in values get updated but a few years ago it used to be on Mondays. Any quotes given in this thread may thus be good through Sunday of the current week. If you want to be sure to get the same value another CAG has reported then do your trading by Sunday as the price may drop on Monday.

Also note that many stores will no longer accept video games without cover art. This is the official policy for DVD trade-ins but apparently many clerks will confuse the two and not allow it for games either. Just beware that it might be a hassle if you have a disc-only game to trade.

I always tell them I have about 8 TV's and cable is the only way I can have them all hooked up with no boxes. They always see that there is no way I could afford to rent or buy that many boxes.
 
I usually tell them my life story, how I despise the cable company, and how I have switched between DTV and Dish over the years based on pricing. Usually by the time I am talking about high school they give up, but sometimes they stick around long enough to hear how I met my wife.
 
I'm not sure if I missed it (damn Touchpad thread had my attention all weekend) but was there any new price drops this week?

EDIT: Nevermind I backpedaled a couple of pages and saw it. Thanks for the update, can't wait for the sale.
 
i still have bbv's i need to check out ahead of time to get an idea of their inventory..hoping for a couple of drops..shattered dimensions and dead rising 2...so impatient!
 
Went to a local Blockbuster and didn't see any video game title worth buying/didn't already have. Only one in the $14.99 price range worth noting was Halo 3:ODST and I already have that. Hopefully, BB/GR will get restocked by the time this sales goes on.
 
I scouted out a much further off BBV that thankfully got spared in the most recent round of closings and spoke with a great employee. We went back n forth for a while about a number of topics and I hope this store is spared should Dish decide to nuke more of them.

She seemed very knowledgable on the inner workings of the company.

Oh and here's something to chuckle at. You know those Smurfs posters that corporate sent stores about a week after the general merch they already had hit 90%?

Well now that stuff is on clearance for $11 each and they have more posters in the racks once used for the stuff that clearanced to 90% off.:rofl:
 
Scouted one store close to me, and it had some good stuff. I'll definitely be getting a few games. I'm going to scout another store tomorrow to see if it's worth going to next week.
 
I popped into my closest BBV today and they had a couple interesting things:)ps3:COD: WAW,:ps3:Enslaved), but it was mostly crap OVER $14.99. That's why I'm hoping this sale is like the last time and we can get any priced game first and then a $15 and under priced one for the free one.

Personally I'd love this sale if it was 'buy any priced game, get any priced game free' instead of restricting the 'free' one to $14.99 and under.:roll:

I agree. Can I hope they make it 19.99 instead of 14.99 though?

I didn't since I was late to the party; however, I've been lucky with great deals this year so I'm trying not the cry over it... but it's hard :cry:. Maybe another great run at the BOGO sale at BBV will cheer me up.
 
Was interested in the touchpad for a couple hours, but with all the BS people are going through to get as many of them as they can, I gave up. I guess it's not a bad deal overall, but for $100 I could find a decent older netbook that would do everything a touchpad would do and more (except "touch" ;).

Anyway, I'm tired of seeing that thread at the top of the page. fucking half a million views within less than a week.

Scoping out a couple BBs tomorrow to see what damage I can do with that $100 not spent on a touchpad!

I'll admit I haven't been following this whole thing much at all, but I thought I read that a reload at hp's store was / is incoming.

If anything I suspect the resale value is being swiftly killed on ebay, so in the near term it might be possible to get one on the cheapish there in a few weeks or so. I won an ipad 2 a while back and honestly it's totally handy, but I still prefer the ol laptop.

I had a chance to get a touchpad at walmart, but I was too lazy to hang around all morning for the price drop. Then I decided to give the last one to someone else since I wasn't interested in the 32gb one.

I hear ya man.. the day the sale went on I showed up at my BB (which is in a pretty small town) and there was a huge line. That kind of bothered me but what bothered me even more was that only 4 people walked out with 1 TP each. This store was HUGE! And they only had 4 in stock? Soooo doubtful. I'm guessing the employees hoarded them all.

I managed to get lucky with onSale though so I'm happy about that. I should be getting the shipment tomorrow.

Anyway update us when you can on this sale and if there are any good price drops. Thanks.

I got two of them. One I just received yesterday from BB.com(16gb) and it's likely going to a friend of mine as a belated b-day present. The other one I picked up(32gb) from a local BB last night when I was shocked they still had them in stock.

What exactly is so great about these Touchpads even though they are cheap? Do people just surf on the internet and read emails? Their screens and graphic cards can't be good enough to watch movies or play new game releases?

its a touchpad. surf internet and watch news, youtube, etc.

U can still play old school games. its like a cell phone, but with a bigger screen.

This is not for playing hardcore graphic games. This is better then a netbook due to the screen. It really depends on the purpose of the user.
 
The last two closest BBVs closed... ): I used to be able to hit 5 BBVs just a few months ago in a 20 mile radius... now I only have 1...
 
So the b1g1 starting Monday is the same as last time. Buy ANY priced game and get a game $14.99 or under free. Lower priced game is free.

Scored a touchpad. Ok now more tp talk in this thread. Hopefully there will be many price drops tomorrow.

Thanks. Hopefully there aren't any can I buy a $4.99 game and get a $14.99 game free questions. Also I'm hoping for some bluray drops.
 
Thanks for the update HB. I already checked out one store near me and found 2 games I want. I will check 3 others on my way home from work Monday. I hope to find some goodies. Is there any update on the price of Fable 3?
 
This may have already been asked but does this sale start automatically since the change you mentioned earlier HB?

I'm talking about how you mentioned all the stores have to update their prices manually now instead of automatically. Does that go for sales too?

It was always fun to get 2 games in a store that had no idea the sale was on and then have one of them ring up for free :)

Now I'm worried I'll look like the idiot (more than usual).
 
Thanks for the updates, HB. Although since price updates aren't automatic anymore and have to be activated at each store (right?), this upcoming sale kind of worries me.
 
Yes, each individual store has to "accept" any price changes they email to is. So it could mess everyone up come Monday morning if there is a big list since things won't ring up properly until they do it.

They have to accept it in their system or they have to accept the price changes and then manually mark the games down?

Edit: Nevermind. It seems they have to accept the price changes so that the games ring up properly.
 
I already scouted out my closest store last night and they have a lone copy of :ps3:Enslaved. I'll probably pick that back up(had it at $30-ish from AWD, beat it and traded it in for a profit;)) to muck around in for another playthrough.

But now the question remains as to what to get with it. There's a few titles with higher prices I'd consider, but I've either had most of them or don't want the majority of them. Only other game I'd consider is a copy of Little Big Planet the store has, but it's disc only in a generic case.:puke:

If this were a 'true' BOGO where you could buy any priced game and get any priced game free I'd be all over this.

I want to get enslaved too ( if I do it would be the third time owning it). I'm hoping it gets droped to 9.99 before the sale begins. I also want killzone 3 to drop again. Shattered demensions and metro 2033 are still hanging out at my blockbuster and those getting cheaper would give me more options. I just wish there were more Mario galaxy 2's so I could do another epic Mario flip.

Yea I saw it but I figured that since I've owned it and beaten it a few months ago I can wait for blockbuster to drop its price. Getting that and another game in a b1g1 free isn't bad at all if I do say so myself
