The Blue World Order Wrestling Topic

Update-o.

"Vince McMahon has banned the term 'sports entertainment.' Instead, they're going to be using the term 'entertainment.' Additionally, the terms 'Superstars' and 'wrestlers' have also been banned."

Jesus Christ in a bagel, I really cannot wait until this comes full-circle and we get back to calling WWE what it really is: pro-wrestling.

TNA should capitalize on this with a full-on marketing campaign promoting their guys as wrestlers. Clean finishes, interesting matches, and solid in-ring action. If they want to honestly and truly promote themselves as an alternative to the WWE, this is their best time.

So what about the "Wrestling" in World Wrestling Entertainment? They'd better change that one too. Maybe World Entertainer Entertainment? :)

When I hear them refer to wrestlers as "entertainers" and pro-wrestling as "entertainment", this is the first thought that pops into mind:

Ha! WEE. I dig it.

I already posted yesterday that they weren't calling them wrestlers or Sueprstars anymore, on the last page.

Nice start to Impact with the 2 hottest women on the roster. Shame the one with wrestling talent had to lose.

Angle's announcement was underwhelming given the hype, but the segment itself was good. Booker was the best part.

The set looks nice, but I hope they have a revamped set for the Impact Zone as well.
Is that a good thing or bad thing?

Oh, and just a friendly reminder... TNA Impact makes its HD debut tonight. Not that anyone will care since we all will be doing better things
... such as watching tonight's riveting Chicago vs New York MLS game on ESPN 2
. But I thought I'd remind ya'll anyways.
well who really knows if its good or bad, most liked my spirit squad thread you didnt. but you cant please them all.

this has been a very lackluster impact, another group ending in mafia, bookers belt looks more like a boxing title, and that clusterfuck of a tag title match was boring as fuck.
^ Didn't watch impact. Are you being the generally sarcastic Brak, or was Impact unlike it usually is for a change?
impact blew
^ Didn't watch impact. Are you being the generally sarcastic Brak, or was Impact unlike it usually is for a change?
Nah. I wasn't being sarcastic.

Is anyone going to watch Entertainment tomorrow? "Shelton Benjamin is an excellent scientific entertainer." "What an incredible entertainment manuever!" As often as McMahon has been extremely clever he is just as often an utter imbecile.

I prefer technical Entertainers. The ability to take somebody down with Entertaining holds and submissions gives them an advantage. Once they have their opponent down, they can rely on their mat Entertaining to get the job done.

Also, I missed Extreme Championship Entertainment. Did anything Entertaining happen?

I really need to get tickets to Entertainmania 25. . .

Weird, WWE.com still has the word "superstars" all over it. Unfortunately I still have no problem believing the stories of this recent McMahon edict. :whistle2:(

a. At least "sports entertainment" made some sense. If that report is true, flattening the term to "entertainment" is stupid. So very stupid. It would be like the NFL renaming themselves the National Ball League to reflect their recent change in referring to their sport as "ball." Stupid, stupid, stupid.

b. Jeff Jarrett would make for a sufficient authority figure. And he's right in saying he shouldn't need to be in the ring. I surely don't want to see more Jeff Jarrett. I have seen enough to last an eternity. That said, at least Jarrett's not involving himself in Millionaire's Club vs. New Blood 2008. I guess he figures it would trigger memories, or something.

c. Let me get this right: James Storm spit in D-Von's face, who was already eliminated, and pinned him to win the match? If true, eek.

d. Awesome Kong wearing lipstick makes me feel funny inside.

e. All complaints aside, I got a good vibe off the new look of TNA.

The last time TNA was any good was when Jarrett was around. After BFG 2006 they started eating dick. The build up to that match was really good on his end he was amazing at building up the hype.

I liked the ending promo with Foley. Everything has its flaws, as I like to detail. I do hope TNA's efforts pay off, as we, pro-wrestling fans, cannot afford to be without competition in the U.S. mainstream pro-wrestling scene. I think WWE's last many years reflect this opinion and should be titled the Lackadaisic Attitude era.

Chase, on the tag match, I think it was supposed to be a normal tag match once the battle royal came down to 2 men, 1 from each team (which makes no sense, since would they have to keep going if there were 3, both members of 1 team)

However, I don't think Abyss had actually been eliminated, Beer Money had gone out of the ring to attack him (not over the top ropes mind you), then they announced the tables stipulation, and just jumped right into the tag match without the battle royal actually ending.

Based on tonight's pop, even in such a small venue, i'd say a face Team 3D run would be worth it, even though they would fit nicely with the Main Event Mafia group. Plus since it seems that they are dead set on burying LAX at this point, and the Guns are semi-heels, there needs to be a face tag team to face Beer Money

Also, i'd love to see Foley have an on-air mentor relationship with Abyss to help him find a balance between good, but emo Abyss, and monster weapons loving Abyss.

So i watched Impact for the first time in about 4 or 5 months i think. Can someone please tell me whats the deal with Booker's accent? He came in without it, now he talks like hes from africa... i dont get it.

I've been watching Impact every week and I STILL don't get it.

EDIT: Oh. I thought you meant "the show on the whole" for a second, and not Booker's accent. Still funny to think of as the whole show.

I don't know, but it is pretty stupid, which is fine as long as he is a heel.

thats hilarious that no one knows why he's using that accent. Guess it just solidifies some of the complaints about TNA lately. I used to love it when he was King Booker and he'd get pissed at someone and instead of using his king accent he would start talking like how he used to in mid sentence.

Does anyone else think Joe needs a new look? Something about his look/voice makes him seem less intimidating. Last night during his promo i thought to myself... "well that wasn't very intimidating."

The faux British accent as "King Booker" made sense.

There is something telling that nobody has ANY idea why Booker is talking in the accent he uses - I can't even begin to place it.

If Jay doesn't immediately respond to people asking why he's using that accent, that means Jay don't know. And if Jay don't know, don't NOBODY know.

fuckin' TNA.

Now they have 5 titles. One for every 3 minutes of in-ring action on Impact.

For a guy that is supposed to be a bad ass, his look has been what holds him back. I'm not saying he needs to 'roid up, but he can improve what he has now.

Joe needs to change those ridiculous orange/black tights we wears. I think he would be better off wearing a singlet like Kurt to de-emphasize his physique. He needs a different haircut too. He still looks too much like a fat Elvis wrestling.

His entrance music is pretty stupid too when the horns start up.
tna seemed to rock last night.. the live atmosphere was awesome
Yeah, Christy Hemme almost had a wardrobe malfunction and that is always awesome

Besides that though, that finisher off the top rope she has looks painful to attempt. Good grief. What did they call it? The Firecrotch Guillotine or something?

I think some facial hair of some kind would help, and a different hair style might help as well. He just doesnt look intimidating at all and his mic skills dont help either.

Entertainment huh? I bet next week RAW will be a musical opera, SmackDown will be dance-off, and ECW will be a donkey show.

I personally think Joe would do well with a Kim Jong Il gimmick.

I remember a long time ago, on Superstars or Wrestling Challenge, Vince did a weird little speech about how the WWF's product was wholesome family entertainment and "not to be confused with pro-wrestling." From that point on you couldn't go five minutes without hearing about FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT. There was like a solid year where they didn't even do any chairshots. Then they finally seemed to abandon this approach around the 1995 Survivor Series, which not only featured chairshots in the main event, but the first (that I could recall) table smash on WWF TV! Then a couple months later The Ringmaster debuted and the overall tone of things began to change.

I just find it interesting that the last time they went out of their way to shun the "wrestling" label was also associated with a push to have a more kid-friendly product.

Who has the best themes in TNA? Personally I like...

The Beautiful People
LAX
Rhino
Christian Cage
AJ Styles
Kurt Angle (before the hip-hop version)
Awesome Kong

I can't think of anymore right now.

Abyss' old theme (2005ish I think) was pretty cool. Very strong beat, intimidating, etc. I liked AJ Styles' older theme too.

I might like their current themes as well but whenever TNA comes on I realize that there are things I'd rather be doing, like cleaning my house.

Booker's current accent is a play on his King Bookah accent. It's meant to convey an elitist attitude since his heel turn. It's an attempt to sound like a New England, WASP, upper crust snob essentially.

but it doesnt sound anything like that, to me is sounds like an african accent.
Who has the best themes in TNA? Personally I like...

The Beautiful People
LAX
Rhino
Christian Cage
AJ Styles
Kurt Angle (before the hip-hop version)
Awesome Kong

I can't think of anymore right now.
I actually like most of the TNA themes.. Joe, Christian, Styles, LAX, Sting, Angle, Jarrett, Abyss.

I do not like the MCMG theme.. their old one was a lot better.

Yeah it sounds like Nigerian or something to me.

Yeah, the Motor City Machine Guns theme sounds like a random anime theme to me.

The Beautiful People is like a reverse MNM. Instead of two guys and a girl it's two girls and a guy. I love me some Angelina Love.

I thought his accent was supposed to be based off of Forest Whitaker's from Last King of Scotland.

While i'm not big on TNA themes, the new videos they had for a good amount of wrestlers were a big improvement, especially given that they are showing them on a much larger screen now. Kurt's, Taylor's and Christian especially.
