Glad I forgot about CS (not CC as everyone has been calling it. wtf?) I do want to see the Orton sell though

//e: Most of the matches and clips are up on Youtube already.. time to grab a drink and watch this, should be entertaining. I'll probably think it sucks a lot less than you guys did since I didn't pay money for it (Unless you guys caught a free stream, which would've been the smart choice).

Dave is by and large the safe bet for the company. I'm just not ready to see build up for Cena/Dave at WMXXV, and if they have Cena win the fucking Rumble in January I'm just gonna be pissed. I don't like Dave either and the guy himself has said he doesnt think he will reach the popularity he had in 2005 again in his career, I wonder if this is WWE's way of trying to get him to not think of retirement in the next couple of years. I just hope they at least play up heels so it's not just a fuck ton of Cena/Dave matches for the title.

Good to see Hardy get screwed over again, I'm sure the plane incident and showing up late to the SD taping a few weeks back haven't helped his cause but I'm sure by and large it is all just Trips not wanting to give up "his" title. I never really watched SD and don't even have MyNetworkTV but seriously, Hardy is super over and has been built as a main eventer for a long while now, seems he got his "pin Trips cleanly" pass at Armageddon last year.

fuck it, at least Matt is still and non-roided as fuck champion.

Non-WWE note: I'm sure this has been mentioned, but ROH is looking for a TV deal and apparently G4 is one of the channels theyre in talks with.

Yeah, I was also wondering why people called it CC. But, shitty main event finish aside, it was a good PPV. Yes, I watched a free stream.

Saw this over in the Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 thread in the 360 forum, but if any PS3 users want to try the demo, just make a new PSN account that says you are from the UK, then you'll be able to go into the UK Playstation Store and download it, 976mb download, HBK,Triple H, and the Hardys available for play.

We've been talking about it for a few days in the thread in the 360 forum. The demo will be up on XBox Live Tuesday.
If they end Santino's fun and Jericho's title reign at the same time, especially on a throw-away PPV like Cyber Sunday, I may hire Kevin Sullivan to kill peoples.
With you on both of those
The Honk-A-Meter should continue, no? The streak was for weeks as champion, and Honky won by DQ. Santino is still champion.

Long live the Honk-A-Meter!
Hmm..I wonder if that will be the case. I thought they made it seem as though Santino lost the title to Honky Donkey Man. I'm not sure, the DQ kind of came out of nowhere and real fast. I was hoping for an actual match between him and someone. It seems like they use more and more of Santino, but he hardly wrestles.

The Honk-A-Meter better stick around, I don't want to find a new custom title yet.

Sucks about SD Jones. I still remember renting Wrestlemania I from the public library back in 1994ish and recognizing pretty much everyone except him. Then King Kong Bundy smooshed him in like 20 seconds.

It is unfortunate that Batista won Jericho's title. A face vs. face Cena/Batista feud will suck. The only potential lies in a vicious heel Cena coming back for revenge against Batista for breaking his neck.

Guess I should avoid Raw tonight, since it'll mostly be botch-tista parading around with the title:bomb:. If they're going to take Jericho out of the title picture, at least put Orton in that spot(I think he's cleared to wrestle).

It probably won't be Cena, since the promo last night mentioned he's returning at Survivor Series. Which don't count on a heel turn, since WWE would be flushing their #1 cash cow for kids down the toilet.

How do you guys know the ratings were down when Jericho had the belt? How do you know that the WWE has been having ratings drop/Batista is considered a "cash cow" or a guy people actually want to watch. I don't have any of this "MyTV' network, so I just watch it if I wanted to.

It's pretty easy to see that the ratings went down when Jericho was champion - just look at the numbers. The ratings during Punk's reign were higher than Jericho's. It's also easy to see how SD's ratings are down - they're lower than they were when they were on the CW, although week 2's ratings were higher than week 1's, which bodes well for them slowly increasing back to their pre-MNTV move levels. ECW's ratings have pretty much stayed the same forever, and WWE doesn't care about that show, so its ratings don't really matter.

Cyber Sunday thoughts -
This felt like a nothing show going in, but I ended up enjoying it quite a bit, and it felt somewhat important by the end with the world title change. It opened off well with Kane and Rey having a perfectly fine, if largely forgettable no holds barred match, which was highlighted by the drop toe hold into the steps. Hopefully that's the end of their program. Bourne-Hardy was a really exciting match - not a classic, but a very fun match with some hot near falls (particularly the moonsault from Bourne, and the ToF>back slide one before the finish) that worked very well at exciting the crowd (which was dead at times seemingly due to this being a face vs. face match).

Cryme Tyme vs. Mizorrison was okay, but unspectacular aside from the knee clip>Moonlight Drive finish. It served its purpose in building up Mizorrison for the DX match and possibly blowing off their Cryme Tyme feud as well. The IC title...thing peaked with the pre-match Santino promo, but his dancing was amusing, and it provided a feel-good moment with everyone attacking Santino. Since the IC belt is just a comedy belt at this point, no harm was done to it with this.

Show-Taker was really good - I enjoyed this more than their NM match, and I was surprised to see Taker take the chokeslam through the announce table. I was also amused to see Show talking through the headset right before the chair punch>choke slam through the table spot. The counts for this match worked as they should've - adding drama and not causing the match to get bogged down by two guys lying down for half the match.

Hardy-HHH was about as good as their NM match, and I liked the finish a little more here as it was more memorable and featured HHH showing some desperation by going for the pedigree from a new position (with Hardy perched on the top rope). The match itself featured the usual good blend of Hardy's flying with HHH's more ground-based offense I've come to expect from them, and I liked them continuing the story of Hardy's high-risk offense costing him (with his second swanton attempt being thwarted by HHH's knees).

I don't have much of a problem with Batista winning the belt - while I would've preferred to see Jericho lose it in a program that was more meaningful, and had more heat, and that felt significant, Batista had to win the belt again after not winning in after what felt like a billion matches for it between Edge and Punk, and having Jericho lose it with the deck stacked against him will allow for some amusing promos with Jericho blaming the fans (err...WWE UNIVERSE!) for the loss. The one-month-ish reign also fits Jericho's character not really deserving the belt since he only won it via a fluke, and usually retained it through luck as well.

The match was okay - not very good, but also not bad, and I was happy to see Austin moving around so well as the ref. Given how broken down his body was during his career, I expected him to hobble around, but he moved around the ring better than he has in many years. The run-ins post Austin bump were plentiful, but effective, as HBK's furthered his feud with Jericho, while JBL's put him back in the main event scene after weeks of mid-card stuff with Haas, and Orton's allowed him to temporarily kill a legend before falling to him via a Stunner, and Austin and Batista closing the show ended it with a feel-good moment, although the brevity of the victory celebration felt a bit too TNA-ish for me, as Batista just kissed the belt and then BOOM, they fade to black.

Ah yes, I agree. Austin surprisingly looked to be in pretty good shape. Now, his time has past and I want him to stay away from the ring, but he looked... healthy.

And I still prefer the Hot Shot to the Stunner...

I'm not sure why everyone's so pissed off at HHH for not wanting to lose the belt to Hardy. He's probably the only reason Hardy's still main eventing because he likes Hardy, but the truth of the matter is Jeff's got two strikes and is never going to win "the big one" because he's too risky. WWE doesn't need another RVD situation.

I don't see anything wrong with HHH retaining - him losing the title after 6 months on such a cold B-level PPV would be a waste - especially when he could lose it on what is historically a big show in the Survivor Series to Kozlov. At most, I can see WWE giving Hardy a title reign when there are just a few weeks between PPVs, or more realistically, when there's a big SD taping two days after a PPV, as that would let him "win the big one!" without putting them in much danger of him fucking up again. However, I'd expect his WWE run to most likely end with his interim/current WWE title win at Unforgiven being as close as he gets to holding a top prize in WWE. Having Jericho lose due to Austin being the ref already gets across the "YOU, THE WWE UNIVERSE, MADE HISTORY AT CYBER SUNDAY!" thing they like to trumpet every year, so having HHH lose the belt to Hardy wouldn't have even been necessary to do that.

He got busted with weed in his car and was forced to drop both the WWE and ECW titles after only a month-long reign.

Pretty much killed any momentum that ECW was building up as a brand right after it started and sent the bookers/writers into full out scramble since word on the street is that RVD was going to get a fairly long ECW title run.

I think the revamp looks fantastic - much more major league-looking than the previous design changes they've made to that venue.
I love that he still has the Honk a meter. I guess it was a DQ yesterday.
Yep it was a DQ. That allowed HTM to "win" yet keep the streak running.

Why did they take the belt of off Jericho? Were the ratings tanking or something?

Not tanking, but going down, and Jericho's reign seemed to be set-up to just be a transitional one anyway since he won it via a fluke at Unforgiven.

Here's Jack Brisco vs. Antonio Inoki from 8-5-71 -
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LFHSBF16

Raw was pretty good this week. The opening segment was funny thanks Jericho's "THAT WAS THE BIGGEST SCREWJOB IN WWE HISTORY" line, didn't drag on and set up some big stuff for next week, including the return of Steph and Shane, Batista-Jericho in a cage, and the possible expulsion of Adamle as GM. The tag title match was quite good as well, despite some awkward points (Kofi being tugged off of the ropes by DiBiase in a weird way, and Punk and Rhodes just staring at each other for a second while sitting up), they ended up having an exciting match that the crowd really got into. For the first time in a long time, the tag titles seemed important since the crowd cared about them and Punk and Kofi seemed ecstatic to win them.

Bourne-Rey was excellent - it told a great story with Bourne keeping up with the legendary Rey, and the pre-match split screen (most of the time) promo between Rey and Bourne set the stage for it well. Rey did a fantastic job of keeping the fans into the match, while Bourne did a great job of covering up for Rey's slip on the ropes - covering him seamlessly and furthering the story of Bourne desperately wanting to pin his legendary friend.

Kudos to WWE for actually having a clean win here, and waiting until the post-match to have Kane and Mark Henry attack them, which should set up a good match for Survivor Series. The overall match reminded me a lot of the 1-2-3 Kid-Bret Hart match from '94, which two allies going at it in a really good face vs. face match that helped further one man's career and kept the legendary figure looking strong. The only thing I didn't like about this match was the portion of it where the fans facing the hard camera (including one wearing what looked like an Octagon mask) all stared to their right at the same time for an extended period.

The Santino-Glamahaas segment provided some amusing comedy, with HTM finally hitting the guitar shot on Santino, and Goldust noting that he doesn't like cross dressers...while sitting next to Piper (hey, according to Heenan, it's a skirt).

The women's six-man was pretty decent, as it was kept short, and was held together well by Mickie on the face side, while emphasizing Kelly Kelly at the end since they seem to want to build her up as the top face once again. The fairly long Cena video was quite good - I enjoyed seeing all of the OVW footage used in it, and they did an excellent job getting across just how much passion Cena has for wrestling and how determined he was to make it.

BIG DAVE's interview with Cole was probably the low point of the show, with Batista stumbling through it, but it did have one highlight - Cole looking awkwardly after Batista patted him either on the back or on the ass. The main event wasn't very special either, but at least benefited from the crowd getting really hyped up when HBK came out to save Batista.

While it had some flaws, I ended up really loving this show overall. It built off of Cyber Sunday nicely, had a hot crowd, a couple of really good matches, and felt like a significant show. As a post-PPV show, it was great, as one building up THE BIGGEST RAW IN THE HISTORY OF RAWS THIS MONTH, it wasn't very effective, but next week's 3 hour show seems like one of those 3 hour shows they're just doing because they have to, not because they necessarily want to do it.

Quotes -
Cole - WELCOME TO MONDAY NIGHT RAW - THE LONGEST-RUNNING EPISODIC TELEVISION SHOW IN HISTORY!
Jericho - What happened last night was the biggest screw job in WWE history! Adamle wanted Batista to be champion, so he did everything in his power to make it happen, and you all oblige him! Austin changed the rules in the middle of the match, put his hands on me, tried to intimidate me, and worst of all - HE DIDN’T COUNT TO 3 WHEN I HAD THE MATCH WON! And now, Batista is the new world heavyweight champion! If I was Batista, I would be embarrassed to call myself a champion because he did not beat Chris Jericho - it took an ENTIRE ARMY TO BEAT ME! You were all involved in this conspiracy against me and now he wants to make a tag team match tonight and that’s fine - I’m dying to get my hands on HBK and Batista tonight! I need MORE AND I HAVE A CHAMPIONSHIP REMATCH CLAUSE and I will use it next week - I WILL BEAT BATISTA AND REGAIN WHAT’S MINE! And there is nothing that anyone can do about this! (Adamle comes out)
Adamle - Chris, I need you to hang on a second… In order to ensure that there’s no outside interference in that championship match, I have decided to make it a steel cage! Match!
Jericho - YOU WANNA LOCK ME IN A CAGE WITH BATISTA!? (Jericho leaves, Orton comes out)
Orton - Are you satisfied, Mike? You send me out here last night to be an emergency ref - something I said I wasn’t comfortable with, and look what happened - I’m on the receiving end of a stunner! That, Mike, is inexcusable. I am not fully recovered. I couldn’t defend myself properly, so I’m gonna make sure that you do not get away with this. Stephanie, Shane, I know you’re watching and I need both of you to come to Raw next week and FIRE MIKE ADAMLE! (fans cheer) Because if you don’t, I’m gonna walk! I’M OUTTA HERE! THE MOST VALUABLE COMMODITY THAT YOU HAVE IS GONNA QUIT! THE WWE NEEDS ME MORE THAN I NEED THE WWE! EITHER HE GOES OR I GO! (fans cheer louder) WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING AT!? WHAT ARE YOU GONNA DO, MIKE!? NOTHING!? YOU KNOW WHY!? BECAUSE YOU’RE SPINELESS! YOU’RE A FAILURE! YOU FAILED AS AN INTERVIEWER, YOU FAILED AS A COMMENTATOR, AND YOU’RE FAILING AS A GM! IF I WENT TO CHICAGO RIGHT NOW, I BET I’D FIND OUT THAT YOU FAILED AS A HUSBAND AND FATHER AS WELL! (fans chant “you suck”)
Cole - Orton delivering an ultimatum of sorts!
Lawler - OF SORTS!?
Ad Guy - CONNECT TO THE UNIVERSE AT WWE.COM!
Cole - THANK YOU, THE WWE UNIVERSE, FOR VOTING AT CYBER SUNDAY!
Cole - Cody Rhodes gets a little bit of Kofi Kingson in his face!
Cole - PUNK, FOREARMS AND HANDS AND FEET!
Lawler - Tonight’s been a runaway train wreck!
Cole - If you think that’s a runaway train wreck, wait until you see what’s next…(Piper comes out as guest commentator)
Santino - Before mine opponent comes out, there’s 2 things I would like to say! First, unleash the Honk-A-METER! You see, the Honky Tonk Man, by some miracle, was champion for 64 weeks. I have been champion for 11 weeks! That means in 1 week…AND ONE YEAR, I’M GONNA CATCH YOU! And when I do, I will be the greatest champion of all the times! Looking at you three, something just occurred to me, I would like all the ladies to look at these three men - that’s what happens when you do drugs when you pregnant! It’s not pretty! Unlike my girlfriend Beth Phoenix - DAT’S PRETTY! This woman, she redefines beauty and grace! This woman…
(Haas comes out as Beth)Piper - Goldust might be able to help us…
Goldust - I don’t like cross-dressers.
Piper - Boy, she’s been working out.
Lawler - I think Beth’s upset his chest is bigger than hers.
(after HTM el kabongs him)Cole - Santino no Guitar Hero here tonight!
Cole - Are you concerned that you may lose the title next week?
Batista - Not a concern in the world - steel cage - THAT’S MY COMFORT ZONE! I’M THE ANIMAL!
Cole - Jillian Hall, who was “That Girl” last night, opens the match.
(during Bourne-Rey)Lawler - I’m shocked to see a handshake before a match on Raw.
Cole - Yeah, it’s been a while…
Crowd - LET’S GO EVAN! LET’S GO EVAN!
Cole - Bourne has a marketing degree and runs his own company - he’s also living his dream in the entertainment business!
Morrison - Sh..Sh…Sh…
Miz - We understand that some of you thought we crossed the line by calling DX “geriatric X”.
Morrison - We understand that our sophisticated sense of humor might be above your level.
Miz - But don’t hate us for it.
Morrison - If you don’t get it, that’s your problem. We have evolved, and we’re going to prove it next week when the Miz and JOHN MORRISON, THE GREATEST TAG TEAM IN THE 21ST CENTURY! take on the greatest tag team of the 20th century, DX!
Miz - Join us on ECW for a very special edition of the Dirt Sheet! WHERE WE WILL EXAMINE THE RISE AND SOON TO BE FALL OF THIS PREHISTORIC PAIR!
Ad Guy - GET READY FOR A TV EVENT GENERATIONS IN THE MAKING! RAW’S 800TH EPISODE!
Cole - JBL WITH A 300 POUND ELBOW!
Lawler - Obviously his elbow doesn’t weigh 300 pounds - but he hits you with all of his body’s 300 pounds when he drops it.

Thanks, forgot about that.
Bourne vs. Mysterio!?

Incoming MOTY candidate!
I'm with you on that one. if you through a hardy and made it TLC would make it even better.

I wish Jericho had a longer reign. He actually puts on good matches and promos, unlike Batista who only seems to say "ME WANT BELT" and then hits his boring spear.

I'm with you on that one. He can't spice up the spear or make it entertaining like Edge does. Uggh for his reign.

Alright. Bourne vs. Mysterio. Seriously. Not much else scheduled tonight, I am hoping it's going to be one of those matches that they give 20 or 25 minutes to. These guys are great. I really hope Bourne doesn't fuck up his career somehow.. He's already gotten an ECW title shot (which, I know, is the equivalent of curtain jerking a dark match on Raw, but still), so maybe they're noticing him more.

As far as a TLC match like Hiccup mentioned.. Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Kofi Kingston, Evan Bourne, Rey Mysterio and Shelton Benjamin. Awesome. That would be pure awesomeness.

Man this match is going to be awesome. Of course Kane will come out or something and ruin it, but still. It should be good.

Great match so far!

Oohh... that would be awesome, but get rid of Shelton Benjamin and have the WWE get El Blaze.

Edit: That was a bad botch by bourne/mysterio. Not sure who's fault it was

It looks like Bourne's neck is messed up.

What the hell were all the fans looking at? Did someone in the audience get ejected or something? I thought Kane was going to come out.

Oh man, Rey slipped pretty bad. Rey will still win, though (why would they put Bourne over him when they built Rey up so much by having him beat Kane?)

Bourne with an awesome enzuguri (sp?) in mid-air.. man

Cool finish, match wasn't nearly as awesome as it could've been. Still a good match though, and it's nice to see competitors shake hands out of mutual respect after the match.

..aaaaand cue Kane.
