Ok let's talk about the awesomeness this week that was called Infinite Crisis #4 and what some might call:
**SPOILERS**
Freaking amazing! At the beginning of the issue, even with the destruction of Bludhaven, I was sitting there thinking, "wow, I built this whole IC thing up in my mind way too much cause each issue just keeps getting more lame and I find myself caring less and less"
Then I got to the part where Batman and Nightwing were talking. This is definetly something that I will give DC that they will always do better than Marvel. They manage to make a simple scene so poignient that on its own it almost defines an entire miniseries. Identity Crisis had one (even though I can't remember what it was right now and Infinite Crisis has its one now. That single scene completely changed my opinion on Infinite Crisis and now I'm more than a little worried that not only will Batman not be around after IC but that he might be dead. I doubt they could do it but there is still a little part of me that sees it as a possibility. When you add in the Nightwing issue to the Batman/Nightwing exchange, it really drives everything home even more.
The Superboys fight was also a highlight. He turned his back on all the young heroes but when he needed their help, they were there. Not to mention you begin to see how Earth 2 Superboy has been a pawn of Alexander Luthor the whole time. He believed he was an equal but you can see that he doesn't have it in him to pull off such major destruction on his own. Alexander Luthor, OTOH is capable of even much more than what he has already done.
Now, as far the Flash(es) are concerned. Are they dead, depowered, or what is the deal? It was difficult to tell what was all going on there.

Ended up picking up a couple lots on eBay. One was for Groo as well as some Groo spin-off I'd never heard of (Mighty Magnor) and another lot off the same seller for Ultraverse Prime 1-13. Never heard of it and it very well may be crap, but he combined Media Mail shipping at his actual cost so it was only like $1.50 extra to add on those 13 comics. Paid about $5 shipped for ~20 comics in those lots. The wild thing is that the box's return address was for a used book shop that I drop in whenever I pass through Frederick MD (Wonder Book & Video.) Not sure if it's just an employee moonlighting or what. (Pretty low FB id for a massive store like that.)
And picked up a lot of about 50 comics from another seller for $10 shipped. All Marvel with maybe a third or so titles I've never heard of.
Basically just got them all to read, so hopefully they'll be enjoyable.

The Speedforce is gone, so all of the Flashes are depowered, and some of them appear to be MIA.

Guys help me out. Who the hell was the ninja type guy Superboy Prime cut in two? I know he took out Panthara, Wildebeast, Red Star, that cheap dud from the previous Titans.
Loved this issue. I also picked up Green Lantern, Sgt. Rock, Spider-Woman Origin, and All-Star Superman. Didn't get Firestorm #21 though. My shop sold out. They only ordered 1 issue! What's up with that!?!

Lets get the comic book thread party started again with news of Spider-Man 3.
IGN just announced that that Dallas Bryce Howard, daughter of Ron Howard, has been cast as Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man 3!!

What does everybody think of this sudden decision in casting? Now that Raimi has two movies down, what are his intentions with bringing Gwen into the third film? I'm excited about the potentially here just because I wholeheartedly trust Raimi with my favorite comic franchise.

I thought it was okay. There really wasn't anything interesting in terms of story, it starts off very slow and ends slowly as well. Sgt. Rock and Easy Company are sent on a mission to retrieve something and they run into Germans, etc.
It seems to that this is more of a nostalgia book. I picked it up because I remember reading my Dad's Sgt. Rock comics. Also, if you are a Joe Kubert fan you might want to pick it up. I guess if you love WWII first person shooters, you might love this.
Like I said before, this issue starts of slow. I hope the action and the plot speed up. I guess the only reason I'm picking this up is for nostalgia's sake.

I was like whatever thats cool but he emailed me a couple issues and damn it was pretty good stuff. I've read through all the issues and bought #25 that just came out. Old issues are way to expensive but the comic store near my house said that they have a cheaper book you can buy that contains like 6 reprinted issues in each one. I wouldn't mind picking those up...

They're called Trade paperbacks, or TPB's. The first one ( 6 issues of comics) is only 9.99, and they have 4 out total so far. #25 was a good issue to start on either way, since they are apparently going in a slightly different direction now.
Oh, and the series does in fact rock. If you want some zombie superheros written by the same guy, try Marvel Zombies (only the first 2 of 5 are out now)

Is anyone planning on picking up "52" when it get's released? At $2.50 every week for a year, I doubt I will. But I'm really interested to see how well DC makes makes it work.

I think Turner is the single most overrated penciler today. I'm not saying he's bad, he's just not nearly as good as his hype. You're right all his women look the same, chin, nose, cheekbones. His men have the exact same abs too. Look at the Wizard cover for Identity Crisis where Wonder Woman is putting a flower on the grave. Just awful.

I heard about Marvel Zombies but haven't read any yet. I was looking into Kirkman because the Walking Dead story starts out like 15 minutes from where I grew up (except we didn't have a hospital or a zombie problem) and then the letters to the author thing was in Lexington KY. The Battle Pope series he did looks pretty good at least the 1st issue of what I guess is the series coming back out in color, they had the issue to read on that Kevin Smith comic site.

im liking walking dead myself that book is really good, also i enjoyed the early ultimate Fantastic four but for me it went down the dumper soon after issue 18 i think after the warren ellis stint

Thanks for the hook up Neocisco. Didn't see it until I already posted. RedvsBlue, I wasn't a big fan of Generation M, since its got to do more with Sally(since she is taking over The Pulse when Jenkins takes over.) Making Angel a pussy and giving his weak wings back is one thing, but completely wiping him out of his powers is another. Yes it won't last forever, but hell it still aggrevates me. I noticed that too about sites like Newsarama, they seem to be one sided. Hence we started a website and we don't plan on selling out.

I love Infinite Crisis and I will be picking up DC's 52. Not much of a Marvel follower, but I do like Marvel Zombies and New Avengers. I am looking very forward to Marvel's Civil War.

I've recognized this too. I'm primarily a Marvel fan but I occasionally dabble in DC. I'm currently picking up (or at least attempting to) All-Star Batman and Robin, Superman/Batman, Infinite Crisis and Planetary. At this point Planetary is the only book sticking to its schedule. ASB&R is bad since the book was solicited for a 6 week schedule from the start and still hasn't hit it yet. Supes/Bats is just a joke. Apparently Jeph Loeb can't get FedEx to pick up from the Lost island.
Marvel is just as bad w/Quesada on DD: Father, Ultimates (how does a bimonthly book consistently run weeks late at a time!?), and Straczynski's books (FF and Supreme Power: Hyperion). Anybody want to take a bet that Ultimate Hulk/Wolverine will end up being late despite being on a bimonthly schedule? The writer is a producer on Lost as well. On top of all of this, Marvel just raised the price of all their $2.50 books to $2.99 starting in April. Multiply that and for me, that's the cost of another comic. Thanks a lot, Marvel, I'll just make up for it by dropping one of your titles. I don't know about the rest of you but $3 is the maximum I'm willing to pay for (just about) any monthly title. There are a few exceptions but just a few. Once monthly books break the $3 barrier (and it will happen in 3 years, max) I'll just start dropping them. If the publishers need to add more ad pages to keep the cost below $3 then they should just do it. The comics industry could easily price itself out of business in the not too distant future. Add the increased prices to the chronic lateness of high-profile books and you have a recipe for disaster.

I like the American printing of Shonen Jump for just that reason... for around 5 dollars, I get 6-7 titles. I'll forgo color or higher grade paper for content any day of the week. I'd love to be able to go pick up a book like that from Marvel or DC every month. If they'd sell me 4-5 titles in a magazine style format, even printed on newsprint, I'd be happy to shell out 6-7 dollars an issue on it.

Did anyone else pick up the new Hellboy? What did you think of Richard Corben doing art? I thought it was a little too cartoony for the plot.

Don't get me wrong, I love my suscription to Shonen Jump. I hate the fact that they edit artwork sometimes though. Nothing pisses me off more than to have someone's art tampered with.

I'm talking more about the format than the content, really.
I'd like access to more content at a cheaper price, even if the medium is less impressive (newsprint as opposed to glossy, black and white instead of color)

Marvel Essential and DC Showcase are the closest you will get to that format. Over 500 pages for like 16 bucks. I will prob grab them as the come out at a 33% discount plus free shipping from my online subscription. There is also something I recently heard about that came out last week or the week before and is a similar reprinting for one whole dollar. If anyone has more info.............
