I was curious if anyone collects the DK Guides. I find them very interesting and a must have for a comic geek. I have Batman, Spider-man, Superman, Fantastic Four, DC Universe (the best!), Transformers, and the Avengers.

I would like to see DK guides for Captain America, Flash, Green Lantern, and Teen Titans.

Only DK guide I have is the Lego one :)

Of course, I work at a place where I can read those whenever I want, so theres no real reason for me to own them.

On a side note, I loved how the revised Avengers DK book had who Ronin was before New Avengers had told everyone

Do any of you order comics online and get a discount, even if it means waiting to get the books? Or just pay full price and get it the week it comes out?

It really depends on where you are. Midtown comics in Manhattan has a frequent buyers discount, but i'm not taking the train in every week to pick up comics. Maybe if I worked there... I keep a pull list at my local shop. No discount. I wind up spending anywhere from 4 to 24 dollars a week on comics. But it's so worth it.

Like the last 5 issues, words fail to form when trying to explain Infinite Crisis #6.

2 BIG spoilers, out of many:
Conners Dead, and we have a "New Earth".

Marvel Zombies 5 was pretty good, and so was Titans. Fun Stuff.

When did IC 6 and MZ 5 come out?

Tomorrow. Nigel gets the jump on us since he works at a comic shop.

Just read it a bit ago. Wow, just wow.

I made the mistake of flipping through Teen Titans at the comic shop cause it was on my bubble of not buying but anyway I happened to flip to the picture of his statue and Tim saying "He died saving the universe". Needless to say I bought it but I was disappointed that I ruined myself of a very good shock of the IC story. It was so brilliantly done too. Its a little odd to say it but its definetly one of my "favorite" major character's death, right up there with Hawkeye.

Teen Titans and IC 6 were definetly some of the best of the week. Marvel Zombies (especially the end) was pretty good as well. I really loved the pacing and story of Teen Titans. Ravager as a titan? This should be good.

Time for another question involving whether a comic is any good. I was looking at the team for The New Avengers after reading through House of M, and I was wondering if New Avengers is worth reading. It does seem interesting, but I'm not sure what others think about it.

Zombies conclusion was funny. Didn't read TT yet. IC was incredible. Really reminded me why I like Black Adam so much. Too bad the Pirate is gone though. Conner's death was by far one of the best I've seen. Reaffirmed just how important Dick is to Bruce. That's good. Terrific and Bats working together to defeat B-I. SB-Prime and the "it tickles" comment. Absolutely an incredible book. Certainly proves that all the "treading water" in 5 was for a reason.

Yes and no. Its pretty good to start off, and than just goes into "good" territory. I actually suggest Young Avengers more than New Avengers now.

Much like Infinite Crisis, it amazing how much info Young Avengers packs into an issue

Hmmmm...I just ordered the HC volumes 1 and 2 of New Avengers from Amazon, and I think when Young Avengers Volume 1 comes out later this month, I may pick it up. I think reading House of M has made me become more interested in what's happening in the Marvel universe outside of Astonishing. Civil War seems interesting too when it really starts.

I dont know if you pick up any individual comics, but New Avengers: Illuminatti is a great prelude to Civil War, as well as a small history lesson for Marvel. Oh, and read X-factor (the new one) when it comes out in trade. It has some great stuff on the fallout of HoM.

Yeah, I was looking at picking up some individual comics now too, so I'll have to look for that. I've definitely been looking for some good stuff on the fallout of HoM, since apparently most of the follow-up series haven't been that great from what I was reading.

I tend to go with trades till I catch up with what's actually out right now in series, much like I did with Astonishing.

Just to mention it, the New Avengers: Illuminatti is a One Shot, and isnt technically part of the ongoing New Avengers series

Hey i was wanting to get into the x-men comics for awhile but wasn't sure where to start, is there some kind of compilation book or something like that which you could recomend to start with. It would just be to waste time so it doesn't need to be from the start or anything just a good starting point. If it helps i am only familiar with the old fox saturday morning cartoons so i know a little bit about the characters already. I Really like Apocalypse and the savage land and the phoenix.

Ahhh, cool. I'll have to go find that next time I'm out.

It doesn't really have anything to do with what you really like, but read Astonishing X-Men right now. Best X-Men series out there. You can pick up the first two arcs in paperback and the new arc just started last month.

I have to agree on Young Avengers. It (and Runaways) are the best books Marvel is putting out in the 616 universe right now. Last I checked they were less caught up in the whole "which side are you on" garbage (although YA apparantly will play a major role).

I want to thank you guys. i know you dont know but you are putting out alot of great suggestions and the to buy list is huge... Thanks for the reviews without giving away and ruining the stories.

Quick question, The house of M are all independent from each other correct? they all dont seem too tie together.

Thanks again

I call it "Bad Writing". HoM is the main series, and the rest were to fill in the blanks (huge, gapping blanks) that the main series had. Spider-man:HoM seemed to tie into it better than most, but was still a bit iffy on execution.

Fantastic 4 house of M is kind of a fun read but like you said, it doesn't mesh well with the main storyline.

Thanks alot for the answer i'll check it out later tonight.

Damn, DC is kicking some major ass. I am really impressed with their 1 year later titles, because they allow readers to jump right in.

I wish Mr. Robinson was given his own Batman title. His current run on Batman and Detective is just incredible. I am looking forward to Morrison and Dini's take on Batman. I wish that DC would create another Batman title for Robinson so we could continue to read his great take on the Dark Knight.

If you have read IC and want to see a take on the final outcome of ____'s fate follow the link:

Thank god there's smarter people than me to notice stuff like this. From IC #6:
6 comic pages from the back Alex finds Earth Prime..he says "YOU" and reaches out of the book. fucking brilliant :)

I was FINALLY able to get my hands on one of those Space Ghost comics today. It's issue 5 out of 6 but I don't care. I just wanted at least one issue. The art is AMAZING and the story is nice and serious. God I wish this would be the next show in the DC Animated Universe. I also got two Street FIghter comics by Udon. February issue with two different covers. I got them both.
Mr nigel, what is emma frost up to these days? Thought you would be the one to ask :)
AS far as me actually caring, she's f'ing with Cyclops in Astonishing X-men...and still wearing skimpy outfits.

Guile-
There is going to be another Space Ghost comics series...same people I believe, but I cant remember if its an ongoing or Mini-series.

Here's the page in question. Warning, it's a really hi-res scan:

I was looking over IC#6 and noticed DC homage to the original Wonder Woman TV movie. It starred Cathy Lee Crosby. In the background was Wonder Girl (Debra Winger) version of Lynda Carter's Wonder Woman TV series.

Good times, good times.

BTW does anyone happen to know what line of superheroes was featured in the panel with the female asian green lantern, female flash, and red knight Batman? I know it was not Stan Lee's Just Imagine DC line. It was a line that came out several years ago. I remember Dan Jurgen's worked on a title called the Atom and the Red Knight Batman, I just can't seem to recall what this line was called.

Tangent Universe?

on a self whoring note, Ive got some comics on Ebay now, and some more coming within the week. If you like Michael Turner, definetly check it out.

Kiddy Grade! I might have to bid on that.

More comics on ebay. Couple of trades too.

I put up a Silent Hill/Horror display up at work today to replace the V for Vendetta section. Looks nice. Helps that I can put a bunch of indy press including a lot of IDW on display. Now to talk myself into seeing the movie...

Finally went into to the closest comic shop to me and bought some books.

Heres what I got, somewhat based on this thread:

Astonishing Xmen 13
Batman 1 year later
Infinite Crisis 6
Marvel Zombies 4/5
Superman 1 year later

Now to try and get my Superman/Batman collection updated, get the first 12 issues of Astonishing, IC 5, and Zombies 1-3. And I completely forgot to check for the House of Ms and Avengers Illuminati.

Just in case you dont know, Superman continues in Action comics, and the story bounces back and forth between the two. Action Aomics came out 2 weeks ago.

EDIT: and thanks for bidding :)

Hey no problem. I knew you had comics on there, and just thought why not look, and then I saw the Superman/Batman books.

I hate to admit it, though I love the show, but Smallville got me back into comics, and showed me Superman. Sad but true.

I just need a good place to start. I'll check out the Action Comics next time I go to the comic shop.

I just read IC 6. That was jacked up.

I also bought nightwing a knight in bludhaven. It seems so gritty. and REAL.

Clark Kent: Green Lantern?
Please tell me the Jsweeney's spoiler isn't true, argh.

Edit: And damn, Red Son is hard to get ahold of on EBay, damn snipers.
Well.... if you've read the DC: One Million story arc, it's already sorta kinda true.

I go to comic stores and the only red son they have is the 2nd one. Does your comic store have all 3 nigel?

Time for me to hunt down some of those.

Guy at my local comic shop, told me they only had the hardback (forget the term he used, most likely the proper term) of the set and not any books. Looks like Ebay may be the only option for me.
