Picked up the Macho Man dvd today at BestBuy, haven't watched it yet (currently watching the hockey game, Go Wings!)
Sounds like my evening, except the Go Wings part. The Wings can fuck off. Game 7!

In rather amusing news, given Broke-tista went under the knife this morning:

WWE COO Donna Goldsmith spoke at the Noble Financial Emerging Growth Equity Conference on Tuesday morning. Here are a few notes:

(truncated)

Donna stated that MMA isn't much of a threat to WWE because MMA doesn't have real stars or storylines. "Somebody gets knocked out and they're hurt and that may be the last you ever see from them again" while WWE can repackage it's superstars.
Yeah, it was crazy seeing some wrestler who was just on RAW a week earlier, or better yet, a ppv the night before show up on Nitro spewing vile about the WWF. Now with the 90 day clauses, I don't guess we'll be seeing that anymore.
The reason the clause came to be was because of my favorite moment from the Monday Night Wars when Rick Rude was on both Nitro & Raw at the same time because of Raw being taped and Nitro being live. It was fun to see him with DX and with the NWO at exact same time.

Even better was when the annoucers on WCW would actually tell you what was going to happen on RAW before it aired on tv. I would laugh because it actually made me want to see how it went down on RAW to see if they were telling the truth.

It will be announced on tonight's ECW on Sci-Fi that a Fatal Fourway match will be held at this coming Monday's three-hour RAW to crown a new WWE Champion.

The match will be Triple H vs. Randy Orton vs. Big Show vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship.
And he's injured and they gave him the title anyway, killing off some of Orton's steam. fuckin' knuckleheads. They could do a super cool tourney for the title, but you know they'll just fart it away into an Orton/HHH title match at the Great American Bash.

Watched the first match on the Macho Man set during the Red Wings/Pens intermission. I think I just don't like modern wrestling. I miss collar and elbow tie-ups, vertical suplexes, snapmares, fucking with the crowd in a match and not a 15-minute no-fucking-action segment, atomic drops, simple moves (elbows, legdrops) that come off running the ropes with no stupid Five Knuckle Shuffle/People's Elbow set up.

Funny thing is, I like the lucha style. I like strong style. but go watch "WWF Wrestling" and you'll see a style that simply is unrecognizable in modern wrestling at all. And that was what I enjoyed watching.
The guy who you have linked to is MBRatedR69. Here's his new video in response to what others are saying about his "PHIL BROOKS, fuck YOU! (The Sequel)" video.
No. You'll know my videoblogs when you see the handsome, eloquent man speak.

Why would you single me out? You ZenDavis or somethin'?
As Michael reported earlier, the WWE creative team has already been given a list of wrestlers not to write ideas for as they will be unavailable for the foreseeable future, starting with next Monday's three-hour episode of Raw. Dave Meltzer said in today's Wrestling Observer Radio show that the company will indeed be suspending some main roster talent within the next few days. Drug testing took place at shows over the weekend, in addition to yesterday's Raw.

Further confirming that some suspensions will be taking place is that it is standard company protocol for head officials to inform creative that certain performers will not be available for the foreseeable future. This fact was publicly disclosed by World Wrestling Entertainment in Henry Waxman's report concerning steroids in professional wrestling released this past January.

Although, there is a lot of skepticism among many in WWE these days in regards to how the company is handling drug test violations. Since the fall of 2007, the official policy on drug test failures has been to publicly announce all failures no matter what, but internally, some believe the company isn't completely abiding by its own set of rules.

For instance, of the four confirmed developmental releases within the past two days (Lupe Viscara, Jon Cutler, Dakota "Maverick" Darsow and Kafu), two were reportedly let go as a result of drug test failures. It is rather peculiar that WWE officials opted against publicly outing the violators when it is company policy to do so.

Early last year, WWE announced the suspensions of developmental wrestlers Derrick Neikirk and Neil "Chet the Jet" Bzibziak, releasing them shortly thereafter. In this new case, the company appears to be circumventing its own set of rules by quietly releasing talent so more unwanted negative attention isn't drawn to WWE concerning drug use amongst its wrestlers — especially due to little known minor league talent when the company is adamantly trying to clean up its image. Had they not terminated the violators in question, they would have had no choice but to publicly announce their respective suspensions, hence the quiet releases, which apparently is WWE's new way of getting around the policy.
I suppose that'd explain Umaga's sudden release. Wonder who else they caught.

From the few pictures of Myke I've seen, I suspect he cuts his promos online as The Purple Nurple, the long-lost cousin of Blue Meanie from Parts Unknown. ;)
I don't go scouring Youtube for these videos, if that's what you're implying, carbon. I've started going to Neogaf more often and noticed that they also have a wrestling thread (not that I'm able to post there, what with the long wait to get registered...).
I enjoy watching the old AWA wrestling on ESPN classic that comes on around midnight. Never knew so many wrestlers were in AWA that were also at some point in their careers in the NWA & WWF. I grew up watching NWA wrestling with a little WWF from time to time( a product of never having cable or satellite for the first 15 or so years of my life).

I don't know about today, but that lucha style wrestling use to be insane. I caught a few mexican wrestling programs on satellite years ago. It was very entertaining.

lol, so Christian just turned like 4 times in a single episode of ECW... well either that or they're gonna be taking him in an interesting tweener direction for a while.

I'm glad they got his face run out of their system... which was important due to the "return pops" he was bound to get. I feel like now we'll really see what he's capable of. I really dug his heel work during the last year or so of his pre-TNA run.

12 as of this past Saturday. The shows only get better so stick with it.
Thanks. The sound is kind of weird on the tapings (guys yelling in ring sounds far away but ref counting sounds really loud) but overall it's great. I can't wait to check out more of them.

Speaking of AWA, I was checking it out Monday night on ESPN Classics and it was pretty entertaining. I caught a young HBK doing his thing on that episode. Wasn't Scott Hall in AWA at some point? That would be cool if I could catch him on a rerun.

WWE announced three headline matches for next week's "Three for All" edition of WWE RAW, effectively ending the mystery surrounding the WWE Championship. The WWE Championship mystery, created as a consequence of title holder Batista's biceps injury, has been a subject of much discussion among wrestling fans and industry insiders.

Next week's show features a four-way between Triple H, Big Show, John Cena and Randy Orton to crown the next WWE Champion.

The "Three for All" event, a three-hour show featuring all brands, will also include an ECW Championship bout between Tommy Dreamer and Christian. On the SmackDown! side, CM Punk will defend the World Championship against Edge.
(Prediction)
So.. Triple H wins it and feuds with Orton through Summerslam, Cena will work programs with Show and Miz through Summerslam.. Christian will win the belt and Tommy Dreamer will retire, and Edge will re-gain the title and a triple feud between Hardy, Punk and Edge will carry us through the summer. Got it.

MVP should've been part of the four way match. Actually, didn't he mention that on Raw?

he did mention that he did deserve a title shot.

i'm still confused as to why Punk will go against Edge. I'm sure storyline-wise Edge will spit his spiel about how the belts are his life and blah blah blah but last time i checked, Jeff lost the belt? no rematch clause?

Some TNA news/rumors/etc courtesy of TNAWrestlingNews.com

Rob Van Dam was a guest on The LAW Sunday night with Dan "The Mouth" Lovranski and Jason Agnew on Sirius 98 Hardcore Sports Radio. During the interview, Van Dam talked about a number of topics, including RVD TV, Chris Masters returning to WWE, Tommy Dreamer winning the ECW title and more.

While he did talk about enjoying his time away from the wrestling business, it's interesting to note that during the interview, he revealed that TNA Wrestling has been in "constant contact" with him as recently as this past week.

As of right now, sources within TNA claim that the company is interested in both Mr. Kennedy and Umaga. One member of upper management sees dollar signs in a program with Umaga and Samoa Joe.

Kennedy and Umaga's 90-day no-compete clauses with WWE will be expiring just a couple weeks apart from each other late in the summer.

The Amazing Red signed his new TNA deal about a week back.

No word on how long the deal is for.

According to SuperLuchas Magazine, TNA is again looking to bring in some lucha talent to the promotion. On the suggestion of Hector Guerrero, they are currently considering Mistico and Cibernetico.

It is being reported that they have already met with Mistico, and that they hope to meet with Cibernetico soon.

Mistico and Cibernetico are awesome.

They should def. bring in more hispanic talent and start to tour the southwestern states.

Tommy Dreamer *should* retire. Actually, you know what? fuck it. Stay active wrestling on ECW. That way I don't have to watch him. If he leaves WWE, he'll end up feuding with Foley for the TNA title in the "fat fucks who should have left the ring by 2001 (in a cage)" match.

Scott Hall in the AWA looked like a pumped up Magnum PI with a weird mullet. I remember when I first found out Razor Ramon was Scott Hall. I didn't believe it for the longest time since the two looked nothing alike.

Damn, Hall looked like a 70's porn star but I agree he could pass for a lesser version of Magnum PI. It so sad that he couldn't stay away from the bottle he is just a waste of talent.

Yeah I've seen those pics before. Scott Hall is the man. He's one of my favorite guys. How long was he in AWA?

A few years, I think.

EDIT: 4 years. I'd forgotten about his second run in WCW as The Diamond Studd. Hall and Nash were actually a tag team before The Outsiders/NWO. Diamond Studd and Vinnie Vegas; not quite the same.

- Apparently indicating the return of Gregory Helms as The Hurricane, during a segment on tonight's episode of ECW, Interim General Manager Tiffany was talking to a production crew member about an accident that happened backstage with some equipment. He said "some guy in green" saved him. Tiffany was then sidetracked by Christian and said she'll deal with the matter later. [/quiote]

Here's to hoping.

As noted previously, Batista underwent biceps surgery Tuesday and is expected to be out of action for at least four months, according to WWE's official website. A new report, according to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, suggests he may be kept out of action until next year's Royal Rumble.

Reason being, they are hoping to get him to 100% health wise. His last return from injury lasted about six months before he went down with this latest injury.

As more information is revealed, we'll keep you updated.

Here's to hoping. That's what he gets for trying to be selfish and coming back earlier than intended.

-- In an update to ProWrestling.com's earlier story on the Wellness Policy, reports say that the latest list of Wellness Policy violations is expected to include some major WWE names. WWE is expected to publicly announce the suspended talent--which reportedly includes first and second-time offenders--soon. (Source: PWTorch.com)

Ooh, so exciting. Let's try to guess some of the offenders!

The two-strike club is Jeff Hardy, Chavo Guerrero, and William Regal (and Masters, if he's resigned). One-strike guys are Hurricane, Festus, Yang, Funaki, Harry Smith, Orton, Morrison, and Ziggler (off the the top of my head).

If we're saying two-strike guys, Jeff Hardy stays close to my list - he won the title on Sunday only to lose it a few minutes later, and he's reportedly on the losing end of a #1 contenders match on Friday.

Big Dick Johnson is on the gas.

Bringing back Shane Helms as The Hurricane? Ugh, that is so played out.

If we're lucky we'll never see Batista again.

Yeah, and Hardy's contract is set to be up sometime soon. With Vickie off TV, that gives Chavo nothing to do, so they could write him out as well.

ROH Vidya Wire

They should just stop giving these guys the mic . I think of ROH as somewhat more of a big time indy, but why do these guys sound so bad? I wish they would just let the wrestlers wrestle and then bring in newer guys who would be better suited to do promos and such, because it's almost heartbreaking to see these guys, good wrestlers, suck bad on the mic.
anybody buying the "batista's injury is a drug coverup" rumor making the rounds?
No, since he had surgery. That's not to say I don't think they're covering up his drug usage in the first place, though.
Isn't Blandtista pushing 50 years-old?
That gets me thinking: what exactly IS Batista's character?

Here's Batista's wikipedia bio

Bautista was born the son of David Michael Bautista, who is Filipino and Donna Raye Bautista, who is Greek.[citation needed] His parents separated (and eventually divorced) after his mother became a lesbian.[6] His paternal grandparents were also from the Philippines as his grandfather served in the military, worked as a taxi driver, barber, and other odd jobs to feed the family. Bautista says he is not ashamed to admit he came from a poor family.
He has publicly admitted to having a hard life where, as before he was age nine, three murders occurred on his front lawn.As young as age 13, he was stealing automobiles. By age 17, he was considered estranged from his parents and on his own, despite admitting later that "I am proud of my parents. They are good, honest, hard-working folks. They taught me the values of working hard." Bautista became a regular bouncer for clubs until he was arrested after a fight that left two badly injured patrons, one of which could be found lying in the street. After a trial, he was sentenced to one year of probation. He was also a lifeguard before he wanted to become a bodybuilder. He credits bodybuilding as possibly saving his life.
I don't get it. Out of all of that, are you telling me that they really couldn't have given him a more interesting gimmick? Particularly the fact that most Filipinos are short and small and he is tall and big. They could've done a character where he was a heel who was embarrassed of his heritage. He could say that he's rich now and they're poor and he's big now and he's small and that it's not because of genetics or circumstances, it's becuase he had the drive and he wasn't a loser. Plant some filipinos in the audience and have him mock them. Filipinos = sympathy dude. I know it sounds silly, but it would make far more interesting, unique television than " me want belt" and "he's a big strong guy". Eventuially he would come to accept his heritage and start coming out with Filipino flags and two strategically short filipina valets who will help him cheat in his matches when he turns heel again, etc etc.

Dave Meltzer's reporting that Rey Mysterio gave his notice to WWE and will be leaving the company. He wasn't used at last night's TV taping, and has reportedly been pulled from house show events this weekend.

I heard Batista's also divorced from his wife, he's technically a grandfather b/c one of his daughters already has a kid and that it seems he's working his way through the diva locker room. Put Kelly (kelly), mickie james and melina as notches on that belt. Never a dull moment in his life.lol.

If Mysterio really is leaving, I wonder if it has anything to do with Vickie's departure? I read something about how once Vickie gave her notice, they started with the pig nicknames and whatnot.

who was that other cat who would always mention personal shit in their posts on the wrestling thread?

there's interesting and relevant, and then there's...this.

mysterio's gone? huh. how about that. bad knees or drug failure. don't care which. sad to see him go - but we'll know for sure if he's jobbing to dirk diggler next week.

Didn't know that there were rules against that

no rules. i just to keep things classy.

er, rather, slightly more classy than the average wrestling conversation.

there's relevant stuff to talk about that ain't pretty - drug use, for instance. lex luger's an interesting guy (speaking of which, who watched the "round table" on the The Wrestler DVD and had their jaw on the fucking floor the whole time, with a thought of "THAT'S LEX LUGER!?!?!?" bouncing around your brain?)

But, it's a fuzzy boundary, I think there's some stuff that's off limits. Mostly limited to hearsay (e.g., CM Punk snorts heroin) and irrelevant stuff (e.g., Triple H loves it when Stephanie buttfucks him).

Fair enough. I honestly don't like to read about it either, but its like a car wreck. Sometimes you can't NOT read it.

Last thing I'll say about it is, I guess it was my way of saying that I never liked Batista and I hope they get rid of him.

/un-classiness :D

I'm waiting for a price drop on the wrestler blu ray but I'm glad to hear that that round table discussion is so good. I was definitely curious about it.

EDIT: Think the Mysterio departure may have had something to do with the "losing his mask" angle?
