The Darkness - Gen Discussion & Info
Got my copy, off to play for about half an hour before I go to a friend's house for a Die Hard marathon!
Awesome.

Be sure to post impressions ;)
Can't wait to get mine tomorrow.
So does anyone know the difference (if any) between the 360 and PS3 versions?
I'm going to guess they are the same aside from 360 version having achievments.

Not many reviews out so it's hard to know.

Could have sworn I read something somewhere saying the PS3 version would have exclusive blu-ray content.

it has some extra shows and movies that are played on some TV in game. I have no idea what that means at all, but that's what it has.

I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that the 360 version will have a better framerate and load times, based entirely on past 360 / PS3 games.

That's all I've heard as well. Specifically Popeye episodes.
I would start calling at 130 or so. I saw the memo and it's going to literally be someone on the ground driving to the airport then delivering them at individual stores. The only other time I remember them doing this was for Gears of War, so I guess they think this one's going to be huge.

Gears was a freakin' fiasco though. The driver that was driving to our city from another overslept by two hours, making our shipments arrive around 330 instead of noon like promised.. and if that wasn't bad enough, we only received 32 copies for 67 preorders! The next morning, a box came in. It was supposed to have 6 Gears CE and 22 normal.. it only had the 6 CE. The 22 normal came the next day. I hope The Darkness is nothing like that.. that was a nightmare.
I think that problem was nationwide. No one had Gears on time for whatever reason. The retailers I called I think all blamed Fedex specifically, they said there was some kind of handling issue and the games didn't go where they were supposed to go.

when you're at you girls house in the beginning you can watch To Kill a Mockingbird on a 2x2 inch box

not sure how much of the movie is there tho, i left after she fell asleep ontop of me

Yeah, my GC got it around noon or so and I'm really enjoying the game so far. Definitely can see the resemblance to Riddick and etc. and that's that I enjoy most.

id think it would be the opposite based on the hdd issue.

fuck, I just wanna know how the PS3 and 360 versions differ in terms of graphics and sound since that's really all that could differ significantly. I don't give a fuck about achievements, so that's a non-factor for me.
id think it would be the opposite based on the hdd issue.
You'd think that, but again, past efforts have shown the opposite. Only ONE PS3 game has matched up with it's 360 counterpart and that's Oblivion (and even that lacks down loadable content, so technically it's still the inferior version).

Something tells me they made the PC code first and then ported it to both systems at the same time. That would lead to an inferior PS3 version, since its far more difficult to program for.

It's odd to me that no reviews ( Besides the 1up ) have been posted as of yet.....I thought that one dude that made the game said he saw the reviews and they are OMFG Hottness. Pretty werid.

Doesn't Xbox live own the PSN? That would be a dealbreaker for me. Unified friends list, chat, live awareness, etc.

Alright Brak .. I saw you playing earlier when I was online... any other impressions beyond insane graphics ? If you have ever read the comic does it flow fairly well with it ?

XBL also doesn't matter to me for this game. I plan on playing the single player and... that's it...

Same. I'll probably dabble in the multiplayer a little bit, but I'll save the online fragging for shadowrun.

it's a trade off. you get that stuff, but no dedicated servers. PSN has those (not sure if I'm even using the proper terminology) so lag is a rare occurrence.

that review kinda sucked. and women wonder why they still don't have a right to vote or work!
So just a quick poll, what version are you getting?
not sure yet.

if reviews come out and say the PS3 version is inferior because of bad technical problems, I'll have to pass on it.

I hope that doesn't happen, because I plan on picking up the PS3 version tomorrow, and no review has said that yet.
Does it seem like a single player game you'd replay just for fun?

Or one of those "I beat it now I'm finished" things?
After reading the ign review and just from what I have taken it seems to be along the lines of Prey to me. A pretty good single player mode, yet fairly short. (shouldn't take longer than 10 hours) and just a, meh, online experience. Although the online seems to offer more than what Prey did.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I thought Prey was worth the $60 so I am expecting the single player and the graphics to pull through on this one.

Yea, but I had no interest in re-playing Prey...ever. It was cool, but only once.

It seems like there might be multiple ways to beat the game, so yeah. For instance, at the beginning, the guy hands you the guns.. you can talk to him and continue on, or you can shoot him. Same thing for a guy in the bathroom. I wonder if this has any impact on the story line. Regardless, it's a cool little game, I enjoy it so far..

Has anyone watched the IGN video review yet?

I'm sorry but it's pretty hilarious; the part where Hilary Goldstein talks about the....less than stellar AI. Not knocking against the game, but the footage of the AI just made me laugh.

It feels like if the comic were adapted into a film by a capable and talented director. In other words: If the comic were adapted into the real world -- it feels like the comic, but appropriated to reality.

The cinematography is incredible -- more so that all of the cinematography is in-game. They'll be times where the visual will play tricks on you, where you wonder if its a cutscene, or just real.

I also love the voice acting.

I'm not too far into the story, but I love the hunks of the game that feel like you're in a film. The bit on the couch with Jackie's love interest was phenomenal.

Excellent. Exactly what I wanted to hear. I was actually the didn't just slaughter the license and change up everything about it. Obviously you can expect some changes, I justed wanted the major factors to be there.

If the cinematography is as well done as you state, I'm definately going to pick this up this weekend to add to the collection.

I'd like to hear more impressions from people as they pick up the game. I have it on rental, but if I can swing all that Circuit City/Gamecrazy store credit business going on, this might be my purchase.

From what I've read here, It sounds like this game is going to be great. I can't wait to play it! Sadly I have to wait for it to come in the mail. (I'm renting it for now)
seanr1221 already has the PS3 version sooo....dont know what to say about that.
 I was about to say, wtf? Then what am I playing.

Are you guys getting any lag in the 360 version? I went into a match and it chugged...like...prey chugged :/

what are the main differences between the 360 and PS3 versions? I've only heard that the PS3 version will include additional full length movies and shows that can be seen on the ingame tv. are the graphics any different?
