The Darkness - Gen Discussion & Info

Beat the game acouple of hours ago, really awesome gaming experience. Walking through the city streets and subways in this game makes me really excited about the next GTA. I just wish the game was longer, here's hoping for a sequel. Guess I should read the comics now.

It's cool they added that. It's in the PS3 version too.
 
Someone tell me there's not gonna be some crazy, Condemned shit going on at any point in the game. I just got to the part that looks like the mansion from RE (sort of) and I imagined all sorts of things happening coming up.

The game is so damn awesome when you use your Darkness powers to do most of the work instead of guns. I've only got the creeping so far, but that's proven incredibly useful. The gunner darkling is great, too. Makes the game that much better when you go into the game thinking "Rainbow Six demonized" instead of Halo or run 'n' gun.

BTW, how much longer 'till I get the tail whip thing to take out lights? I'm wasting too many bullets taking out the light sources. I just got to the
St. Mary's Orphanage

..I'm not looking for progress on achievements, you should actually read my post. I'm trying to find out how close I am to the end, but nevermind.

I wanted to rent this from Blockbuster this week but BB only had 1 copy.

Warning rant ahead:
They do have 6 copies of Earth Defense Force 2017 and 3 copies of Ratatouille but they only got one copy of the Darkness and no copies of Dirt, Overlord or The Bigs :dunce:

That's my problem. I went to a few BBs looking for this and niether one had it. But yes, I could have built a fucking staircase with all the Ratatoulle's.

The only reason I use my guns was to get the execution achievement. The powers/darklings are much more fun.
 
Ok, I'm stuck.

The second time Jackie dies I have no idea where to go. I need to get the shell for the cannon. Where do I go?

[/quote]You didn't like Chapter 1 at all? The stuff in the city is pretty damn good. I'd agree, though, that part you mentioned sucks big time. I hope it comes back again, it's not as long.

With you on that Thus far--- I really liked the first part, and after the event, was even more engrossed. I think I'm the only one who really really loves the Darkness guns, The whole Minority Report effect on the left gun is awesome.

The second half wouldn't have been as good if the first half didn't exist.

As an artist, I would have assumed you would have appreciated the piece as a whole.

I'm guessing it was your setup. PS3 version looks better to me from that video...colors seem more bland in the 360 version.

Graphically, it looks the same, seems like the brightness was turned up on the PS3 version which isn't a good thing for a game called "The Darkness".

I had heard that the problem with PS3 version was framerate hiccups and draw distances.

Then, you're going to say "I haven't noticed any problems while playing."

Afterwards, I'll say, "Yeah, but you're playing on a SDTV so the game isn't pushing out a HD picture so the framerate can keep up and you wouldn't notice draw distance on a low resolution."

That's why SDTV's are SUPERIOR!!

Yes, I'm saying that so I can keep myself from buying an HDTV for a little longer

Still, the colors looked better in the PS3 version. But for people that have only played one version they'd never notice so it's no big deal.
 
I think that video is a bit unbalanced. Looks like they messed with the settings on the 360 side. 360 version looks great on my 1080i tv through both component & vga (not at the same time). I've yet to try out the PS3 version.

I hear that man, love the whole aspect of hell and the four horsemen of apocalypse in the world of The Darkness. Love surreal stuff like that.
 
the second chapter killed it for me. I was sooooo into the first chapter, then all the technical problems I could forgive became very apparent in the second one. by the time I got to the cannon, it was pure frustration.

kept my save for when this drops to $10 or so :)

I would agree to this. Got to the 2nd part today, and its eh. The game, when its good, its really really good, but when its not it grinds to a halt. Certain aspects of it bother me, being a FPS - lack of cover, completely useless guns, slow walking speed, etc.
 
Jesus, do the Hell guys regenerate or something? f you shoot one, and darkness impale them twice, they should not be shotting you in the back right after wards
 
well, the game was great. Is it bad to say I enjoyed this alot more than Riddick? no, I think not. Starbreeze has done superb once again. My only complaint now though is
killing pauile should've been a bit more satisfying... it was jus too quick... at least eddie the cop died fantastically).
