WWE.com says that Matt Hardy had to have an emergency appendectomy and will be out for 1-3 months. Hopefully it's closer to the one month mark. I don't want to see them drop the MVP feud just yet, which seems unlikely considering they make it sound like the attack from MVP might have caused this.
appendectomy, huh? Yikes. That can't be a work, as appendectomies are for wimps.

...and those whose appendixes are shite.

im actually keeping an eye out on digi cam deals... i am so fed up with the shitty shots my sony 7.2 cam takes inside arenas for wrestling events etc...

i already missed out a nice deal that cc had..

is there any damn camera that takes good shots in arenas?
wow thorn looked weird last night without the gimmick..
Not as weird as when he was the Overtaker
mordecai.jpg

Thorn is a black hole of charisma. I have no fuckin' idea how he gets so many chances.

Has anyone ever cheered or booed for him? He strikes me as the kind of wrestler that makes fans in the crowd go "oh, look. It's Kevin Thorne. I wonder where the guy with the cotton candy is, because I really want one."
Speaking of Thorne, is Ariel doing anything in TNA yet?
She's the "mystery" member of LAX.

I need to keep up with this stuff. I hope TNA has some clips uploaded to Youtube. I'm glad they embrace Youtube like they do.

WTF? When was this? I'd probably be lacking chrisma too if all they gave me was crap gimmicks like that too.

I thought it was kind of weird that not a single match contained exclusively ECW guys last night, but looking back at Thorne and all I'm kind of glad they didn't. That food fight last night was pure awful. The sooner they get rid of those two the better, as they're basically good for nothing other than being eye candy and dancing akwardly.

That was in the spring of '04, and the gimmick wasn't all that crappy - it was well-received by fans on the web, but arena crowds didn't take to it at all, so it was scrapped.

I think Punk should be moved off of ECW now, that show should be for 4 groups of people:

1. Older guys (like Dreamer, Richards) that can actually work a good match, but aren't really over anymore
2. Guys that are either really good on the mic or in ring, but really bad at the other (Shelton, Morrison before he got to ECW... yes he still needs some mic work)
3. Guys who are getting repackaged (see Big Daddy V)
4. Guys who are on their last straw before getting fired (Carlito would fit nicely on ECW)

If they did that, why not just change the name back to 'Heat' or 'Velocity' and quit tarnishing the name of the original ECW? I do agree that something should be done to make the show either not crap, or just give into the crappiness. The bringing in of SD guys is a good step towards the former.

The gimmick lasted two months before they canned him. Didn't notice until now that he basically wore the same outfit as Mordecai & pre-neutered Kevin Thorn, just different colors.

As for him in action, here's a link:
As for Thorn now, I give him a month before he gets the pink slip. No matter of revamping will shine that polished turd. Seems he is still botching moves though. Noticed last night that he missed the backbreaker after he had Nunzio in the torture rack.

Seems WWE did a trade where SD/ECW would get Shelton Benjamin & Raw gets Ric Flair judging from what has happened this week. Guess that means the World's Greatest Tag Team is in the toilet.

:rofl:Was just watching the Survivor Series tag match and thought it was pretty funny that they fucked up Mr. Kennedy's promo. Apparently they had the mic turned on for the arena, but not for TV.

I don't remember that one, but that kicks ass:lol:
As for ECW, The Vampire~! wrestling in a singlet was hilarious, and made even funnier by Joey noting that his change attire and a new haircut didn't mean he wasn't still ANTI-SOCIAL. I wasn't aware that was ever really part of his gimmick, which seemed to be that he was quite social, just amongst those with vampire obsessions. The food fight was also quite the train wreck, not even Tazz's one-liners could save it.

Unintended comedy aside, this was an off week for ECW, as only the Punk-Dykstra match was good, while the greasers-Jesse/Festus match was fine, and the Kane-BDV/Striker match just refused to end. I fucking loved Dykstra's selling of the GTS, which involved his legs going completely limp and then he just stayed knocked out.

As for Carlito, WWE is done "under utilizing" him, as he's done with WWE. The Hornswoggle match was his big swan song, so now he can go main event WWC and TNA shows, and hopefully have good matches on a regular basis for a change.
Carlito is the most under utilized wrestler of them all. I think the WWE just doesn't like him. He has charisma, he has stage presence, his interviews are fun to watch, but they keep fucking him over.

I noticed that Joey must have messed up somewhere with his lines on the Anti-social bit. Vamps/Kevin Thorne was horrible and rather sad and pathetic.

Screw all this, all they should do is take the ECW guys they have and put back the extreme. I see no kendo sticks, no chairs, no tables, not even a damn cage. I want to see a wrestler actually do his moves or some high flying stuff. And again, Carlito is awesome:bomb::bomb::bomb:

People liked Mordecai? They tried to hype him up with tons of promos weeks before he came out and when he finally did it was a flop. He was basically Undertaker Jr and IIRC he shot lightning from his cane once  I thought everyone hated it but it stuck around cause Vince really liked it. Wasn't he meant to be built up to fight Taker? I believe at the time Taker was still a Biker (aka Chuck Palumbo now).
Wasn't he meant to be built up to fight Taker? I believe at the time Taker was still a Biker (aka Chuck Palumbo now).
Yep, that was the idea. Although IIRC, he never did get a match with Taker. As for Taker's gimmick then, it was a couple months after returning to the "undead" gimmick. Last match I remember he had as Mordecai was with Hardcore Holly.

WWE can't just make ECW into "Heat" or "Velocity", as the contract they signed was for an "ECW"-named show, and the current product for the brand rarely "tarnishes" the name of the "original" ECW. I say "original" because there were so many leadership and booking shifts in ECW that the "original" moniker covers a lot of ground. WWE's version of ECW has had some incredible periods, including a great run post-WM 23 that provided some incredible wrestling action on a regular basis.

What does "most underutilized of them all" mean, exactly? He's been underutilized at times, but he's far from the most underutilized guy in even WWE, let alone all of wrestling right now.

He's a guy who's shown flashes of greatness over the past couple of years, after having an exceptional first year in WWE. He seems to be about as good as his push - if he isn't pushed, he dogs it, but if he's pushed, he works hard, which isn't exactly the way to prove to anyone that you deserve to be pushed for a prolonged period of time. WWE's given him a few main event pushes, which is more than can be said for most talent that enters the company. He definitely deserved better than being squashed by Snitsky and Hornswoggle at the end, but oh well, his career will recover from this.

Edit - TNA has announced the GREATEST MATCH EVER! -
TNA sent out a Mobile Alert this afternoon announcing that a "Feast or Fired" battle royal match has been added to the 12/2 Turning Point pay-per-view. The match will result in one member of the TNA roster being fired and three title shots will be awarded to various winners of the match. The match will feature four briefcases, one in each corner with three of them containing the various title shots and the other containing a pink slip.
TNA somehow found a match that made King of the Mountain and the Fight for the Right seem simplistic. I love this company, and greatly look forward to Don and Mike commentating this, while Jim Cornette appears to suffer three heart attacks trying to explain the stipulation on Impact.

Vince Russo loves putting things on poles, doesn't he?

As reported earlier, Jerry Saggs and Brian Knobbs re-formed as The Nasty Boys tag team at last night’s SmackDown/ECW tapings from Tampa, Florida to wrestle their first WWE match in many years. The dark match featuring the former WWF and WCW World Tag Team Champions has left a ton of heat on them both.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com, The Nasty Boys acted as if they were huge stars returning and took far too much time to get to into the ring, interacting with friends and family members sitting at ringside. Brian Knobbs entered the ring with his back to the hard camera while partner Jerry Saggs got into the ring way to close to their opponents Drew McIntye and Dave Taylor, making them look stupid.

After the match started, The Nasty Boys were said to have worked very stiff with not only McIntye who is only 21 years old but with Dave Taylor who is a well respected veteran. McIntyre tried to be respectful and take the abuse but finally had enough and began returning stiff shots. One backstage source that the dark match was one of the worst things that you could ever hope to see.

The disaster of a match caused the SmackDown taping to finish up late, ending at 9:54 PM EST, leaving the WWE ring crew very little time to switch the set and ring for the live broadcast of ECW on Sci-Fi

The Nasty Boys working stiff? Now there's a shock. I'm surprised Dave Taylor didn't slug one of them in the mouth.

Huh. I didn't think they could walk upright, let alone work a match.

If that account is true, they won't be back. They were never really anyone that amazing in the first place. "Pitty city" was cheesy as all hell 16 years ago.
Reports out of Nashville indicate that Pacman Jones got into a physical altercation with Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth earlier this week.
Okay time for some real wrestling news.... all from TNAWrestlingNews.com:

Dave Meltzer of WrestlingObserver.com is reporting that TNA World Tag Team Champion Travis Tomko underwent emergency surgery earlier today for what New Japan has announced as a "torn muscle under the side."

It remains to be seen if it was a torn abdominal. More details should be known soon.

Steve Shea passed on a link to an interview with TNA World Champion Kurt Angle on bodybuilding.com. Here are some highlights:

On leaving WWE for TNA:
"Vince McMahon told me, "Kurt, we need you full time." I told him, "Vince, if I can't go part time I'm going to have to quit." And that's where our differences really began. So I did what I had to do for my family and health, I moved on and went to TNA Wrestling. With TNA I saw a young, rapidly growing company that had an easier schedule that could possibly use a leader like me to help ignite their ratings."

On comparing WWE talent to TNA talent:
"At TNA we are looking for the best wrestlers in the business with top athletic skills where WWE has, in the past, looked for the six-foot four, 300-pound massive muscle monsters. I am more comfortable at TNA because of my wrestling abilities and this is what made me popular in WWE; it was certainly not my physique."

On the WWE schedule vs. TNA schedule:
"No, TNA is much better as it fits my schedule because I'm only on the road 100 to 150 days a year whereas at WWE I was on the road for almost 300. Wrestling in TNA allows my body to rest and recuperate, which also allows me more time to train properly to prepare for my matches. An example of the difference at TNA is we have 50 house-shows, 12 pay-per-view and about 38 TV matches per year (100 TNA matches) compared to 280 matches a year at WWE. So my body isn't getting so beat down and I feel 100% better. And for my neck, thank God! TNA's schedule is so much better for my body."

TNA Mobile sent out a message earlier today that a "Feast or Fired" battle royale match has been added to the 12/2 Turning Point PPV card.

The match will not only result in one member of the roster being fired but there will also be three title shots awarded to various winners of the match.

Eric Young promos anyone?

Apparently Albert Haynesworth is 6'6" and 320 lbs. Pacman Jones is, according to ESPN, 5'10" and 185 lbs.

Albert Haynesworth was suspended five games last season for STOMPING ON THE HEAD of Cowboys C Andre Gurode. Watch to the end of this as "Big Al" runs his cleats along the side of the head of the dude on the ground.

Are you fucking kidding me? Dude doesn't sound like the kind of guy I'd go after.

John Cena takes a shot at TNA:

During a recent media conference call to promote his My Life DVD, former WWE Champion John Cena was asked if he watched WWE's competition, specifically TNA. "They still have a company? Wow, I didn't know they were still around," Cena said.

That was a dick-headed statement. I would expect more class from John Cena.

Hold on, what?

"Vince McMahon told me, "Kurt, we need you full time." I told him, "Vince, if I can't go part time I'm going to have to quit." And that's where our differences really began. So I did what I had to do for my family and health, I moved on and went to TNA Wrestling. With TNA I saw a young, rapidly growing company that had an easier schedule that could possibly use a leader like me to help ignite their ratings."

Isn't this the same Kurt Angle who made the decision to work through multiple injuries, was suspended because Vince of all people was worried about his health and told people that he spent his time off "training" instead of resting?

Yeah, and he's in pretty good shape - better-looking than his last TNA run. I cannot WAIT for that abomination of a new concept match for Turning Point. Holy Christ that will be a blast to watch. As for Cena's statement, eh, what do you expect him to say? Given how under the radar TNA is, I think his comment was fairly accurate, if stated in a very harsh manner.

Angle's interview comments, as always, are humorous, but quite sad. He damn sure wasn't working 300 days a year during his last year in WWE, as they gave him a ton of time off in '06, and wanted him to take time off to heal his torn groin the summer of '06, but he wanted to keep wrestling on it and win the ECW Title. This was when Angle was in such poor shape that he needed to be shuttled around from building to building, which Kurt has admitted was true after it was reported in the Figure Four Weekly Newsletter. TNA's schedule is definitely a better fit for Kurt though, as there would be pressure of doing a full-time one in WWE, while with TNA, that isn't much of an issue since a "full-time" schedule is far different there than in WWE.

I'm shocked they are still around too. I don't know how they managed to pull through those first couple years with those God awful weekly PPVs (minus X Division).

The Angle dinner skits dragged on, but provided some great amusement, like Angle forsaking Pacman Jones, Kong eating fake fruit, Black Reign's rat running amok on the table, EY wearing Black Reign's wig, the visual of Rellik and Black Reign eating Thanksgiving dinner with a shark, two pilgrims, and a black Macho Man, EY and Storm having a drinking contest, Storm hitching his horse up to Angle's car, Lethal making more random WWF mentions, and of course, it gave us Kurt and Karen in pilgrim outfits. Ridiculous, but amusing.

The main event was excellent, and made up for the foolishness in the earlier three ways (like having a ton of interference in the opener, with none of it being grounds for a DQ). Most of the show was enjoyable, although it didn't leave me wanting to see Turning Point anymore than I already wanted to, which isn't good.

The women's three way was fine, and ODB's character really shined in it, while the earlier three ways were enjoyable, but not bad. Nothing was truly awful on this show, and even the stuff that would normally be horrendous worked as comedy given the Thanksgiving-centric nature of the show. They did a great job hyping up not only Booker T (to a ludicrous degree at times) in the video packages for him, and emphasized that he will in fact be making his in-ring Impact debut next week - they hammered the point home, and for once, TNA doing that might actually work in their favor, as they chose the right point to drive home to viewers.

I like that they actually had AJ's character develop tonight - he made numerous honest efforts to try and get back on Christian's good side, but fell short on each attempt. It's a bit hard to believe that Christian couldn't hear the pin being tolled or wouldn't be able to break it up given that he'd just done his own finisher, but AJ's goofy stuff after winning made that a forgivable flaw.

Tomko's injury throws a bit of a wrench into the PPV main event, but maybe they'll have Christian team with Angle and AJ just so AJ continues to owe Christian something, which would then add more reasons to want to see them in a one-on-one match.

I wonder if this has to do with Kurt Angle wrestling Yuji Nagata in Japan.
It basically comes out to $13 prior to shipping. I would say to get one of these...

I'll look into them, thanks. I would have figured the price woulda been a lot less, but I guess it wasn't as big of a sale as I imagined ;)

Phenominal Tna last night...and not only because AJ made it to the finals lol, but since the entire show was sound, actually made sense, and best of all they featured it on a night where people are bound to be looking for something to watch - thus more interest in TNA! (all the wrestling, counters, comedy skits, and promos [of booker] didn't hurt either)

I personally loved how it all ended up into hyping the main event for Turning Point (which I still find ridiculous...a 6 man tag??!) but hopefully they know what their doing behind the scenes.
If they did that, why not just change the name back to 'Heat' or 'Velocity' and quit tarnishing the name of the original ECW? I do agree that something should be done to make the show either not crap, or just give into the crappiness. The bringing in of SD guys is a good step towards the former.
They should probably do that too. Actually giving the show a name that is more "sci-fi" so to speak and catering to the sci-fi channel's desires regarding the program content might not be that bad of an idea. The ratings probably aren't going to fluctuate much one way or another, and appeasing the network that is broadcasting you generally leads to a better tv deal in the future.

I was dreading this show based on the spoilers, but luckily the Edge-Vickie stuff was brief, and Eddie's name wasn't mentioned once, so JBL's line about these two just falling in love seems more plausible. Great match with MVP and Rey, while the Palumbo-Noble match was good, the Miz/Morrison-Majors match was effective, and Finlay/Hornswoggle-Henry was entertaining.

Way better show than I expected based on the spoilers, although it was uncomfortable at times with 'Taker choking, then tombstone piledriving Vickie, and of course her deeply making out with Edge. All in all, very enjoyable show, with Festus as a Cena fan drawing a huge laugh from me, and the entire JBL/MVP segment was great. MVP's new black/white/orange/green attire looks good, but I prefer his black/white/silver garb.

Quotes -
JBL - I got rid of the dead weight, like ex-wives and ex-partners, and became a world champion - and I guarantee that you will be a world champion as well!
(on the U.S. ring)JBL - MVP, this might be the only thing in this ring as bright as your future. It is my honor to bestow upon you the first-ever United States championship ring!
Cole - I don’t think Rey Mysterio is impressed with MVP.
JBL - What makes you think that?
Cole - LOOK AT HIM!
JBL - I think he’s stunned by the ring - it’s 100 diamonds… karats.
Rey - Look at me when I’m talking to you, rookie!
(on the Major Brothers)Cole - You’ve gotta love these guys.
JBL I don’t gotta love anything. Who do you think you are, Vladimir Putin, telling people what they gotta love?
JBL - I admire the Major brothers - they quit college to become pro wrestlers… and right now it isn’t working out so good for ‘em!
(a Major is busted open)JBL - Chicks dig scars!
Cole - Edge and Vickie Guerrero are in some sort of cahoots, and now they appear to have some sort of relationship!
JBL - Some sort of cahoots? They were making out like kids at prom night!
(Big Daddy V comes out)JBL - That is an imposing sight - my God!
(BDV avalanches Kane in the corner)Cole - That’s like a mobile home hitting you!
JBL - DOUBLE WIDE!
Cole - Big Daddy V rides him!
JBL - He’s taking the wind out of him - pounding him!
JBL - They call him Fed-Ex because he delivers, without a surcharge!
Cole - MVP walks around like he’s the second coming of Triple H, the Undertaker, or Shawn Michaels!
JBL - You don’t like it? Beat him. That isn’t being done is it?
Cole - Well…
JBL -IS IT!? IS IT!?
JBL - I think MVP realized that Matt Hardy was as big a crutch as Matt Hardy’s now using.
(earlier in the show)Cole - Matt Hardy is out indefinitely.
Cole - The issue with MVP led Matt Hardy to need an emergency appendectomy, he’ll be out for 2-3 months.
JBL - CHONO BOOT!
Cole - MVP is being vicious…
JBL - If Rey Mysterio busted up a ceremony with something from the United Nations, wouldn’t you be vicious?!
Cole - MVP with a VICIOUS CLOTHESLINE!
JBL - Not bad for a rookie, eh Mysterio? Come on, Michael, answer for him!
Cole - Well, Rey did indeed call him a rookie earlier…
JBL - He looks like a young Frank Brody - he builds his offense around that boot!
JBL - The rookie’s beating him up! I wouldn’t call him a rookie though - I’d call him ‘champ’.
MVP (to Rey, during an arm bar) - I WILL BREAK YOUR DAMN ARM!
(MVP wins)JBL - Right now, MVP is BALL-IN‘!
Jesse - Hello, I’m Jesse, and this is my partner Festus, and most people don’t know this, but he’s a HUGE John Cena fan. He’s been a fan since day one, and this DVD goes from ruthless aggression, to word life, to hustle-loyalty-respect.
(Noble does the Steiner muscle pose to Michelle)Noble - When you see how I handle your “friend” Chuck Palumbo, you’ll see what a REAL man can do!
(to Cole, who supports Finlay and Hornswoggle)JBL - You are a hundredaire - at best, Mr. McMahon is a billioniare - who are you gonna support?!
JBL - I’m not sure PETA would be happy with this leprechaun tossing.
Cole - Why would PETA be concerned?
JBL - Well, what do you classify leprechauns as?
Cole - Well, they’re humans, but maybe you could throw them in the same class as unicorns.
Cole - HORNSWOGGLE AND FINLAY BEAT MARK HENRY!
JBL - Hornswoggle just pinned the World’s Strongest Man - Mark Henry will never be allowed back in Texas, ever!
Cole - I can’t believe what I’ve just witnessed…
(Khali tree slams Finlay)JBL - I don’t think Khali thinks the leprechaun is cute.
(on Noble hitting on Michelle)JBL - That’d be like Rosie hitting on Brad Pitt!
Cole - So, are they friends…
JBL - Friends, she’s the next Mrs. Layfield!
JBL - You could beat Michelle McCool with an ugly stick and she’d still be hot!
JBL - I don’t blame Jamie Noble for hitting on Michelle McCool - the next Mrs. Layfield.
JBL - He’s ate up with dumb! Jamie Noble’s got a case of wall-to-wall dumb!
JBL - THAT’S A RIGHT HAND! WOW!
JBL - Jamie Noble isn’t scared - I’m not sure he’s smart enough to be.
JBL - Noble’s as tough as he is stupid!
JBL - Noble just says whatever comes to mind, and I think it’s entertaining!
Cole - How can he be stupid and a wrestler? Doesn’t it take intelligence to be in the ring?
JBL - There’s different ways of being smart - in the ring, he’s Einstein. Out of the ring, he’s a first grader doing arithmetic.
(Palumbo throws a clothesline)Cole - WOW!
JBL - WHAT A RIGHT HAND!
(Torrie comes out)JBL - It just got a little hotter here in Tampa! WOW!
JBL - Victoria’s a very physical, dominating woman - kinda like the one I married now.
JBL - Did you know that they used to compete against each other in fitness competitions before they got into wrestling?
Cole - I know they did, did you?
JBL - I know they did, that’s why I said it..
JBL - A win for Torrie is a win for all of us, can the match go longer? Maybe we can get best of 7 out of 13!
(Vickie comes out with Edge)JBL - The Rated R Era is upon us!
Edge - Come on people, admit it - it’s great to see me again, isn’t it!?
JBL - YES!
(to Edge)Batista - You don’t deserve a world title match, but you do deserve every ounce of that ass kicking I’m gonna give you next week! (Batista shoves Edge down)
