The GBA DS Cover Project (discussion & links)
I like how you alphabetized your collection rather than arranging them by GB type. Interesting choice.
Well, considering I only bought 20 cases, and the fact that I love all my GB -> GBA games equally, I'm fine with just looking in M's for all the portable Metroids, and Metal Gear Solid would've either gone in the middle with its fellow M's or off to the side by itself. I kinda wanted all the metroids next to each other.

I likes me Metal Gear Solids:

ANYWAY, for the rest of you,

Snackbar is back up, so you can use up all your new ink and legal paper and flesh out all those new blank cases you just bought.

Is there a Playstation DVD cases forum I don't know about, because thats cool.

I've got 50 cases coming in the mail, and I finally bought a big pack of legal paper.

Requests:

Sum of All Fears (GBA)
Battlebots (GBA)
Super Mario Land (GB)
BurgerTime (GB)
TMNT (GB)
BaseBall (GB)

I can get some of those. I just did Sum of All Fears. The others will be harder to find.

terrific. i can't wait until it's up. thanks a lot!

Is there anyone who can print out and send 2 of these covers to me??? I'll pay ya fairly well. Im just retarded and cant get it to work im coming up 1 inch too samll for length and width so please someone help me and hit me up with a PM. Thanks.

I can't print and send them to you, but if you tell me which 2 covers they are, it's very likely that they were saved at the wrong DPI, and thus are printing the wrong size. Let me know which covers they are and I can fix the DPI, allowing them to print the right size.

Some people submitted covers at 350 dpi instead of 300, which would explain the ~1'' discrepancy.

I think I'm alright now. I followed snackbars.com printing FAQ and I used Gimp and its working pretty damn good now. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this thread. Like McDonald's, "I'm Loving It".

Sorry for the unexpected downtime guys. We had some freak mysql connection issues. Go figure. That is our first extended downtime since our launch in 2002. All the submitted cases have been posted sans Spy Hunter. Enjoy.

Ok first off, A HUGE THANK YOU and mad props to the OP, Snowcone, and everyone else who has contributed to this idea.

Now that I finally got some cases and paper, I've been putting all my GBA games in cases and I was a bit miffed when I found that the cases don't close too well with a manual jammed in there.

BUT!

I found an INSANELY easy way to trim the case to fit the manuals! I have a large nail clipper (with a straight edge, not the curved ones), and I went across the plastic with it two times and now I have a perfectly trimmed case that fits any size manual (including the beastly WarioWare, FF 1 & 2, and Advance Wars 2 manuals!).

So I hope that helps you all out.

Also, I tweaked a few of the NES classic case printouts from Snowcones site to include classic sprites on the spine of the case. I put a triforce on Zelda, the ship from Xevious on Xevious' case, Bomberman on the side of his game, and I fixed the size of Samus on the Metroid case. I also fixed the colors so they are SOLID black and look great when printed out. I'd be more than happy to upload them, if someone could kindly tell me where and HOW to do so.

Keep up the good work lads!

Most of us have been using pocket knives or exacto knives, but nail clippers are an excellent idea. I shall try that on my next batch of cases.

We're always adding alt covers to the collection, so it'd be fine to add your modded covers to the collection. I'm on a Pocket PC right now so I don't have the upload link, but i can post it later if someone else doesn't do it first.

could you post pics?

Alrighty then, I uploaded my NES series inserts!

If you all like them, I can work on finishing out the set (I don't have the other six games myself, but I plan to get them eventually so it couldn't hurt to have the inserts ready beforehand ;) ).

And I'll try to get some pics up of the case trimming process/results and my finished collection sometime tomorrow.

sounds good. i really want to see how you got that HUGE warioware manual in there.

Just skim through and look for "Case Trim" if you want to see how I got the manuals to fit (I think they're on page 2).

Oh and check out my collection if you have time :)

(But since I couldn't upload all my pics, my old school games aren't pictured at this time :( )
Niceeee collection. Good case mod too! The GBA-DS cases look really nice on the shelf too.

thaks for posting that.

on a side note, i love your GCN collection. AND, you only have one PC to mess everything up. what is that blue tin next to the RE4 tin?

*edit* i never really noticed how Nintendo decided to put their logo on the bottom part of their spine rather than the top like PS2 and xbox. it's little things like that which make GCN stand out from the rest. *edit*

Thanks for the props y'all! I'm a pretty avid Nintendo collector and I think there's only a few dozen or so Nintendo developed games (for ALL of their consoles) that I don't own yet. Oh and yeah I wish I didn't have the PC game sticking out like a sore thumb, but Pac Man Vs is a MUST OWN game IMO. I also only have 2-3 GH games for PS1, but I plan to replace those with non-GH versions eventually.

As for the Blue tin next to RE4, its the Limited Edition of Akira that came out a few years ago. I decided to throw them next to each other cuz they're the same type of case.

I may move the GBA case trimming pics to another gallery to make room in my personal gallery for more of my collection. I'll keep y'all posted!
Does the Wade Hixton cover print out small for anybody else?
And Ecks vs. Sever. Yet, Castlevania: AoS and CotM, DBZ2, and Advance Wars all game out just fine.

Zuh?

EDIT: Both of the ones that printed small were by Snowcone, yet his Advance Wars one worked fine for me. Any suggestions? Potential fix?

This is likely caused by the DPI being accidentally set at something other than 300 dpi. Even some of SnowCone's were accidentally set at the wrong DPI. You should contact him about those covers so he can correct them.

if you want to do it yourself, just open the files in an Image editor, and edit the properties of the image telling it to set it at 300 DPI. Then it should print correctly.

I just had a stroke of genius!

Earlier in this thread, Munch commented on how I only have one PC game to mess up my Gamecube collection.

*IDEA*

MAKE A NON-PC INSERT!

I whipped up this Non-PC Insert for the Pac Man Vs double pack and it looks great!

*EDIT* I got the image to print properly using a program called COVERXP (props to Scorch for mentioning this in another post!) and it turned out great! WOO!

(I can upload the image to Snowcone's site if thats cool. Just give me the ok)

Couldn't Boktai fit if you cut off the bottom piece of the GBA cart holder, then inserted Boktai in upside down?

I'm not 100% sure what size the Boktai Cart is, but if we can fit GB and GBC carts in these cases by cutting them, I don't see why we can't fit Boktai in by the same method.

If you guys want to expand this and make PC inserts for DVD cases, I don't mind hosting them.

Snowcone: You said that you can get any GBA cover art at 300 DPI right?

If possible, I'd greatly appreciate a touch up for Virtua Tennis (there's some visible wrinkles and such, only on the front cover it seems).

Thanks!

I've been watching this thread for awhile, and I finally got around to printing out covers! This is a great idea and I can't wait for my cases to come (they are due in tomorrow!!) Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the project: your work and talents are much appreciated!

I was hoping I could make a few requests as well:

GBA:
Battlebots
Mickey's Magical Quest
Snood

GB:
Baseball
Burger Time
Pac-Man
Super Mario Land
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan

Hopefully at least some of these can be done! Thanks again everyone!

Battlebots (GBA)
Super Mario Land (GB)
BurgerTime (GB)
TMNT (GB)
BaseBall (GB)

These were also requested 2 pages ago, as well.
I'll try to see if I can dig up cover art for any of them, but it's tough, since they're old GB games (well, except the GBA games, obviously).

Well, I just did Snood and Battlebots. I'm working on some of these requests, now.

Unfortunately, Snowcone's gonna take a while to post them up because all these covers are apparently putting a load on his servers.

This is great. I finally decided to do this and put my order in for some cases. I already downloaded all the covers but theres just one of my games that doesn't have one. So I'd like to request THUG for GBA. Thanks to anyone who takes my request :D

The best I can do is an alt cover. Can't find any good scans of it online. Will that work?

You're doing the lord's work slash, it's appreciated.

snocone is there a way to donate to your site, if everyone donated a buck or 2 (which i think we all owe at least!) it could help him out.

They will be online sometime today and we were actually just filling up the HD of the webserver. The new one has much more space and we are going to be putting in an additional 60-120GB drive just for our files.

That would be great, I really like most of the alt covers. The THUG art is pretty dull anyway.

Oh, wow, that's nice! :applause:
I also really like your new upload page.

BTW, once this most recent addition of covers is posted, it's going to put the number of covers well over 500. IIRC, I've uploaded about 28 since the last post, and Aussie Ben has, I think, uploaded something between 10 and 20.

I just uploaded the Snood and Battlebots covers, and I'll have THUG uploaded by sometime today, so hopefully those will be posted along with the rest of the big batch.
