The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)

I don't think I mentioned in here, that my copy of FFIV that i had pre ordered is STILL not in the store. I cancelled that preorder and picked up TWEWY, but I told the manager they can't be pushing pre-orders on gamers if the games don't come in, or come in significantly after street date. Their system is absolute bollocks and corp needs to either scrap the idea of pre-orders or get a new distributor.

I can confirm that 360 NCAA MM 08 is now $15 TIV in store. Just traded it in 30 minutes ago, approx noon EST. At least it's still a positive flip, but I'm not sure I'll be chasing this one anymore. $10 of GS credit ---> $15 of BBV credit plus suspicious looks from flunkly cashiers, just not worth the trouble. Prey still returns $6 @ BBV....
Just called my closest BB....

NCAA MM 08(360) dropped to $15 TIV
ehh oh well, I guess I'll go with some prey/vampire rain if those held along with a MM 08 (still a good flip with edge+coupon)

And if not blacksite if that held

And if not K&L, if it held, and if not F*CK you all, agaghahghaghaghgahga

but really I would have a minor ulcer if that happened.

baffling indeed, I was surprised it got $30 the first time. Sadly they are disappearing from the GSs near me. I'm gonna grab a few and transfer enough credit to BBV so I can get fallout there, saves a bit. Maybe $20 credit. Did blacksite hold?

OK...am I missing something here? I mean, I'm assuming you all have Edge cards to save another 10% off of the already $24.99 pricetag on K&L, making it $22.50 before tax, but to me $7.50 'profit' on the game to flip it to BB/GR seems a bit paltry to me.

Are you guys getting some sort of pre-order bonus for throwing the credit from it down on some game or.....?

I think it's that every little bit adds up and since people are essentially draining their local options for flips, if they can grab 4-5 games that give a $7 profit a piece and buy them with credit, they're willing to do it.

I stopped a little while ago, but I also never traded in more than one copy of a title per Blockbuster. People who use this discretion will also limit their options and they'll have to resort to weaker flips.

Well as of now, it seems like the options for me are pretty open here, but I'm sure that could change if the flea market douchebag who already cleans out clearance bins around here decides to start flipping stuff too.

It seems like a big waste though, to go from GS to BB and back again over and over to do that for $6 each pop. Unless I got the games uber cheap, I never saw the thrill of getting a couple bucks more than I paid. It had to always be a 100% profit or close or it wasn't worth it.

sort of... I see it as this I can buy 2 24.99 games with edge and 10% coupon for $40, I can then take those games to BBV and get $60, effectively getting a game for $20 less than intended. Or in my case, I want to get a 2 gb mem stick for less money than I could online. If you do it right you could get some big ticket items for very cheap, if you only stop at a gs and BBV on the way to/from work each day. lets say every trip you go from $40--> $60 (this is terrible compared to the old coupons by the way) to get lets say a psp, it would take about 4 flips, and that would be $160--->$240 with change left over for a $25ish game. So its worth it if you have gs credit, otherwise...hell..even out of pocket its a good deal if you want something. BBV has MGS4 bundles which I know a few people here flipped their asses off to get one.

With the impending b2g1 free sale (every store has their stuff for the next one, so it will eventually happen) that even with the currently drained local options... the upcoming sale should provide us with better opportunities. Especially since BBV -> GS transfers a slightly more rare unless you luck out on games one harder to find titles.

That being said, one copy / store is a good thing to live by.... so the necessity for weaker flips in low gamestore volume area is understandable.
Actually, Octomania dropped its used price on Sunday, but not the value until Tuesday. It seems really dumb as I thought that was the whole point of TIV's dropping on Sunday (so they drop the same day as the used price).

Someone already posted that they were stickering MM 08 as $24.99, so today could probably be the last day. It's too early to call, but i'm sure if you called and asked for the used price, they'd tell you even if it wasn't in stock.
Really? I waas pretty sure the used sale value dropped Sunday and the TIV dropped Monday for Octomania, just like it did this week with MM 08. It used to be Sunday/Tuesday - they seem to have eliminated that extra day of the prices being out of whack.

Anyway, kind of disappointed as the MM hunt was something for me to do here in the evening after work. I don't want to do too many K&L or Blacksite for $20->$30, but I'll probably do a couple more. IAmTheCheapestGamer - it is well worth it if you are using existing credit from Gamestop (and if you have a ton from the last B1G1 sale->GS transfer like I do now). I mean, if I trade a K&L/Blacksite pair then I'm able to get a $60 game at Blockbuster for $40 in GS credit, which seems worth it to me. Yeah, I'm not going to go through a lot of trouble to do that (like I did hunting down B1G1 games at BB) but if I've got nothing else to do...

I do have to balance that with the risk of running into a Junior Detective. I have to open up new trade accounts here and that is always risky (though, on the other hand, they've never seen me before and are unlikely to see me too much in the future so in another way it is safer to do this here than at home).

By the way, you ought to be getting K&L or Blacksite for just $19.99 if you use the 10% off coupon... I guess I do have one more thing to hunt for - there's supposedly a used copy of SST for PS3 at a store here. I haven't had much luck with the GS store inventory search though (n my recent experience, a lot of what they say they have either gets sold just before I get there or is an inventory error).

precisely.

The thing you have to remember is that some of the people on here are large scale flippers. Sure, if you only do this trade once, it probably wouldn't be worth it due to gas alone. But, when you can make $10 off of this trade especially with cheap GS credit, the more times you do it the more profitable it becomes. It's economies of scale at work.

Anyone know current Blockbuster TIV's for:

Conan (PS3)
MX vs. ATV Untamed (PS3)

I did a search of this thread but it didn't produce any results. Nothing in the wiki either.

Thanks.

Cool. I haven't been flippin in over a month and I walked into the one in Troy on Saturday and was surprised to see 4 used copies of Octomania.

Just flipped a K&L for 30.

One thing interesting though. I never flip more than 2 of the same title to a BBV. However, today the cashier ringing it up asked the manager "Can I take this game in today because he traded 1 in last week." Manager replied "Members can trade in 1 copy per week."

I found that a little odd... first time I heard this. Just wanted to let you guys know because this might be a nationwide thing.
So Kane & Lynch PS3 is in the 50% off sale? So it's 12.50 before edge card?
Would be awesome if it was... but it is not. At least not here in NYC.
So Kane and Lynch only makes like $5 after tax?, Why all the trouble then?
My thinking exactly, even if the edge card saves gas money, transferring $25 GS credit into $30 BB credit is a terrible idea.
So Kane and Lynch only makes like $5 after tax?, Why all the trouble then?
Go back and look at the previous posts. Coupon + edge puts it at $19.99 AS STATED !!! And if your GS is like mine they dont charge tax when paying with credit. So its a $10 flip for most of us. Which if you trade 2 at a time LIKE MOST then its a $20 profit.
My thinking exactly, even if the edge card saves gas money, transferring $25 GS credit into $30 BB credit is a terrible idea.
Damn you too !! Again its a $20 flip. $19.99 after promo and edge. No tax here. Buy 2 and trade 2. Its a $20 flip.
My thinking exactly, even if the edge card saves gas money, transferring $25 GS credit into $30 BB credit is a terrible idea.
I know, its just an extra $5.

I'm in no hurry to move credit, so I'm hoping for the next B2G1 free sale to transfer GS --> BBV credit. I, like many others, prefer the 2X+ flips. If certain TIV's hold, a Kane & Lynch flip will be more much lucrative and there will be more on the shelves if I refrain from flipping them now.

If I am selling a hard drive on E-Bay is it safe to just format it before i send it out to wipe it clean for the new owner?

Anyone have an updated TIV for Spiderwick Chronicles (Wii/PS3/360)? MicroCenter has every version of it on sale for $9.99.
IO, I found something that may be of use on the OP.

Huh wow that is actually very useful I found out there is a gamerush closer than the one Ive been going to...i feel like an idiot for not realizing there was a closer gamerush...:wall:

Damn all that wasted gas...

exactly, there are plenty of opportunities to get 2x credit on GS -> BB and the BB -> GS transfer doesn't net any profit anymore so I guess its for those who cant get enough of flipping even if it is for a crappy ratio.

MM08 here I come.... for 1 day.

edit: Flipped a MM 08 and only got 15 for it at a non-GR BBV... eating my words about only doing 2x flips. But I bought a Wall-E soundtrack for the GF so it doesn't matter much.

The answer to why is because I had $300 dollars at gamestop, traded in mostly Kane and Lynchs + Blacksites (both 19.99->30) and got ~430 at blockbuster. I couldn't buy a PS3 at GS and now bought a new 40gb PS3 with free Kingdom of Heaven Blu-Ray. Great if you just want to dump your money at a 1.5 ratio gain to get something like a new system at BBV.

Bleh, i can also confirm that March Madness is down to $15. Prey held at $6 at least.

All of the Blockbusters I went to are advertising that they'll be getting more Wii's & Wii fit's in stock next week, and that you can reserve one of each if you'd like. Bundles seem to be random as one store had a bundle with just the system and a moviepass, the other had one that was $375.
I don't see what's so great about Wii fit, if it was any more rarer I would've bought it and resell it already
It's an easy credit to cash flip. They're in high demand and short supply - stores that get them in are out of stock later that day.
Anyone have an updated TIV for Spiderwick Chronicles (Wii/PS3/360)? MicroCenter has every version of it on sale for $9.99.
\

whoa, that could be epic. I'm about to head out, if I pass a BBV I'll stop in and get a TIV.
I don't see what's so great about Wii fit, if it was any more rarer I would've bought it and resell it already
Its a $90 -> $140+ flip, so i'd say its worth it.
Its a $90 -> $140+ flip, so i'd say its worth it.
lol people willing to pay $140+ for it? WTF? lol poor fat asses are probably thinking they can get some exercises through basically "NOT" doing anything beside standing in front of a TV XD Don't you love America? lol

God damn. Now I'm curious as to how much I'd make locally if I bought a few and sold them for $150. Hmm... decisions, decisions, decisions. How is BBVs return policy on systems and Wii related merch anyway? Fair? Horrible?
...basically "NOT" doing anything beside standing in front of a TV...
You've obviously never 'played' Wii Fit before...if you're not breaking a sweat after 30 min. of Wii Fit, then you're doing it wrong.

went to the bbv near work to trade in a ps3 game
my bud there said no more trade in over $10. Manager said so,
told me that some people found a loophole in the system. getting 15 plus by buying @ GS & Trading Here.

Anyone trade in any of these recently or know the TIV?

I'll probably just go tomorrow and see, but it would be cool to get an idea:

MGS4
Disgaea (PS2)
Atelier Iris 2
Jak and Daxter
Dungeon Siege (PSP)
Dark Cloud 2

I was going to take them to GS...but decided I'd rather not.

I can vouch for Wii Fits.

I've sold three. One for $160, two for $120. I sold the latter so low because I wanted to get them off my hands before I leave for school.

Anyways, it's much easier to pick up Wii Fits than most people think. Just call your local GS or BB every now and then in the morning. I find that Wii Fits last quite a while at BB too because no one really knows that BB sells games.

You should also get on buying/selling them though before demand for them dies down.

Well... that's it. Keyboard convinced me. Besides I'm fed up waiting for a damn bundle to show up when regular retailers have them in stock every other week. I can't take it anymore. I'm going to try and cash out now while the getting is good. I'll browse around later today and see if I can snatch two or more then post up a few notices in the middle class areas. I'll try something ridiculous like selling two for $350 - $500 with "or best offer" attached to see if I can hook in a potential haggler. If I can find some and get lucky + the demand is high enough I might be able cash out completely while making a good profit in the process. I've got absolutely nothing to lose. If they don't sell I'll return them unopened.

Thanks guys.

Don't turn in MGS4, you could get more on ebay. Heck, you could get more here on CAG. You could trade it here or sell it.

please man i'm not trying to argue with anyone here but wtf is a kind of exercise standing in front of your TV? lol. I rather spend 90$ and get a gym membership and get a "REAL" work out lol.
