The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)
Cabela's Trophy Bucks has a $22 TIV? Your post really didn't confirm it. Just need the confirmation.

And what is PMD?
Sorry. Yeah, I called a little while ago. Trophy Bucks is $22, so same ratio. PMD is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Guys, please note that if any games are in the 50% off promo at GS, they will NOT stack that price with the new 25% off coupon. The 50% off will automatically ring up as a separate promotion and the coupon will not be applied unless the cashier does a manual override, which they are not supposed to do.
Sorry. Yeah, I called a little while ago. Trophy Bucks is $22, so same ratio. PMD is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.
I'm an idiot. I just bought 2 PMD's and couldn't figure it out>_22 (1.88)
:360:Hellboy: The Science of Evil $22.74->$35 (1.54)

Maximum that would net is around a 1.34 if Prizefighter got $35, which I doubt. And even then, the other games seem just as easy to find and with a higher ratio. Someone might want to call and check, though.

If we're going to list Hellboy, we might as well list the Club, at a 1.54 ratio. $9.75->$15.

Kung Fu Panda 25.99 -> ?
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian 16.24 -> ?
Hail to the Chimp 19.49 -> ?
Space Chimps 16.24 -> ?
Sega Superstars Tennis 11.24 -> ?
NCAA Football 08 8.44 -> ?

Some of the 50% off games are still usable as well if the TIVs held. Prey, Vampire Rain, The Club, March Madness 08.
I've had mine horizontal since launch in an open area, not a closed cabinet(i.e. plenty of ventilation), and am on my fourth console.
Same for me, except I am just on my second. The older models are just prone to break if you actually intend to use it. I don't think MS accounted for that in the testing phase.
Is this a coupon thing, or automatic? Does the promo number match the one on the receipt scan I posted yesterday?

The GS that gave me 50% + Edge is the closest one to me, but I actually hadn't been trading there much recently. If I find out they've been running the 50% thing for a while now I'll be pretty pissed. If they are, though, it would help to advertise it. I assume your store does advertise it?
This is the same promo that certain stores in my area have been running all summer, they have flyers on their counters, and have to enter a specific code for the promo that only works at the named stores. Other ppl have had similiar promo's in other parts of the country, and prior to this stores promo, three other stores in my area ran it (they think they may be getting it back). So it's old news.

I don't know how to do it with Mac's but Window's have it built in and it's called "Internet Connection Sharing". I would try to find something similar on my mac or google a 3rd party mac program that does the same thing.

I checked 3 BB stores in my area a bit ago no sales for labor day at any of them. So unless they start tomorrow I will be out of luck.

Okay... all we need are the TIVs for Cabela's Alaskan Adventures and Cabela's African Safari. (Note that Alaskin Adventures is listed as $20 both used and new at Gamestop). If they're comparable to the other Cabela's TIVs, buying 2 or so should be pretty profitable. (Also, none of these games appear to be part of the GS 50% off sale.)

Did some preorders at my local GR stores for entry into the wii sweepstakes. I didnt realize they charge tax on the $25 down. Looks like I will be preordering a lot of games since they can be cancelled, but I will eventually move the preorder credit to the new PS3 system or something. GR has a preorder bonus for SW Force Unleashed; its a small picture frame just like the Soul Calibur 4 bonus.

On a semi related note: for those in Anaheim/OC area trying to flip wii fit to cash, I was at the Frys in Anaheim on thursday evening and witnessed 3 guys buying out the store's stock (over 15 boxes). Possible Ebayers or Craigslisters so just a heads up that you have some competition. With the amount of wii fits I have seen in store, I wouldnt figure there to be so much of a shortage that it would be worth the $15-20 profit per game, unless they were stocking up for christmas (desperate parents with more money than smarts). Oh, and the new 80GB PS3 systems are in at Frys as well (along with every flavor of xbox 360.

I'm looking over the old Excel sheet that Brenex made (here) and can only find a few games that are possible even flips. I think Beatiful Katamari was the only one actually and that TIV is a month old. Perhaps I am grasping here but I feel that there is an outside possibility to transfer some credit if this trade in 3 get an extra 15 works out next week.

Well, I know that some GS's were running this 50% thing via a coupon for a long time. The thing is there was no coupon or flyer up here and I had traded at this GS a few weeks ago and didn't get 50%. So it is new here, but unfortunately it is probably ending this weekend :cry:. I wish I had known about it earlier as pertains to this one store - but if they aren't going to advertise their own deal then that'll happen.

They key thing was I wanted to find out if it was the same promo number as you guys got with the coupon (which someone else verified). I was hoping maybe it was something new - but then we heard that the next promo should be trade 3 next gen games, get $15 extra so I'm sure this one will go away regardless.

I have a feeling that neither the $15 promo nor the 25% off Xbox coupon will provide all that many great opportunities for transfers either way. And I'm OK with that - I need a break ;). But if you guys want to compile lists of both types of transfers, I'll add them to the second post. Right now I'll go remove the PS3 coupon info.

Alaskan adventurs was 14.99 during the last B1G1 and BBV, so the TIV is 8 dollars or less now.

A router is the only real way to get around that, I think.

Most dorm connections don't work with Xbox Live because the connection just isn't strong enough. Most Schools' IT departments will put limits on speed and bandwidth to keep people from using xbox live or other gaming applications, and from using bittorrents.

You're pretty much just screwed.

I doubt you'll be able to get around that with a wired router, from what I read about it.

Plus, if you try to do MAC address copying from your laptop, it's likely the Cisco box on the network that your 360 would be talking to would see that it's a console and not allow it network access.

Cisco Clean Access Agent is used to make sure there's up-to-date patches and updates on a machine before it's allowed on the network. Without checking for that, you're not likely to get onto the network.

The only way that might work would be to get a USB Ethernet adapter for your Macbook and bridge the connection for the 360 through the Macbook's connection to the network. Or, if you can access the campus network wireless, you can use the built-in Ethernet port.

Probably, you won't luck out with that either, depending on what the Cisco box does to the network traffic coming from the Macbook.

I checked three different ones out as well ad noone knew of any gaming related promos. Oh well.

TIV
360 Vampire Rain 8$
360 Space Chimps $28.50

While I was flipping Trophy Bucks and Big Game Hunter, I spotted a lone used copy of Geometry Wars Galaxies for Wii tagged at $9.99 at BB. No idea if that's the correct price, but I'd assume so. If this extra $15 for 3 current-gen thing at GS pans out, that might be a good candidate. Sells for $18 used at GS.

It'd probably be easier to use the Macbook's built in wireless sharing (port->ethernet->macbook->wireless sharing->360 wireless adapter->360) with the 360 wireless adapter. I did that with my Wii the last 2 years of college (as the Wii had built in wireless). It might be more expensive to get that wireless adapter though.

Only one store remotely near me has this and its 31 miles away; grr. Guess I'll stick to the two Cabela's games for now.

Yeah, I was surprised - NO stores within 100 miles of me have Space Chimps.

There is, however, a Fatal Inertia nearby. I'll have to check out that old standby. I just can't get myself to flip the Cabela's games. I know it is probably enbarassing for some of you guys to flip kids games - I have no problem given that I actually have kids. In fact, it is almost more believable for me to flip those - I just tell the BB clerks (if they ask) that the kids were tired of them. But that Cabela stuff, on the other hand, would only be for me and, well, I just can't do it ;).

LOL. Nobody looked at me funny or said anything, but I had an excuse at the ready. I was gonna make up some BS about how my brother-in-law was in town and he's really into hunting. First part's true, but he's a hippy vegan, so that's a blatant lie. haha.

In fact, the BB I traded them to even took one of them without the cover art. Yay!

Closest one to me is in New York and I'm not willing to cross the NY/NJ border just to get some games to flip. Seems like way too much of a hassle to me even though NY is really close by.

At first when I started this whole flipping thing I was embarrassed buying crap games and then trading them in, but then I started to ask myself "embarrassed about what?" I just nod and say I don't like the game anymore. What's surprising to me is that GS employees rarely ask me why I'm trading certain games in. I've traded in so many kids games to them and they've never once said a thing.
Updated my spreadsheet a bit. Going to start doing that again since I am now back at school.
Sorry for the slightly off-topic, but Zoo Tycoon 2 DS trades in at Gamestop for $10 base - did that one today. I saw your spreadsheet and thought you may be interested in the info.

I traded the power rangers game yesterday to GS when the guy gave me a funny look. All you have to say is "The Red Ranger is AWESOME" and the discussion will end.

When I trade in the cabela games, I plan on finding the biggest belt buckle and cowboy hat I can find.

That's such a great thing to say.

I just bought PMD and the cashier was one of my friends. He kind of gave me a funny look, but then I said it was for my sister so he said ok. Awkward moment. Still need to find one more game though. Got Manhunt 2, Iridium Runners and both PMDs. Probably going to go pick up Golden Compass later on tonight so I can get rid of these 5 games.

truly inspirational :applause:

The only time I had an employee question me about my choices lately was during the 25% off Wii coupon. I picked up Alone in the Dark to flip and the GS clerk says "serious question: Are you suuuuure?" [holds up the box] lol.

Hey guys was wondering if any of you got any word about the b1g1 in BlockBuster?
oh yeah how much is the trade in value for Battlefield bad company for 360.

the problem is this if my system breaks i can't afford to buy a new one :whistle2:(

if my system gets a rrod i heard you have to pay 100 dolalrs to fix it from microsoft is that true ?

Hehe - I wasn't even thinking of the purchase side but that reminds me when I was in Tucson a few weeks ago and Kain & Lynch was a good flip I had a GS employee try hard to talk me out of buying it - I finally got him to drop it by saying I was buying it for a friend.
Over the phine TIV today
360 Sega Superstar Tennis $19
Wow - so SST for PS3 was hard to find but I thought this would be easy. Turns out it isn't - none available anywhere near me :bomb:. Thanks for the quote though - I added it to the second post.

You really should buy a warrantee if you can.

I keep mine vertical, but I've had to replace it twice. Luckily, I just used my store warrantee, and I'm still under warrantee for a couple years yet, having only payed $50 for a warrantee at launch.

Happened to me too about a month ago. I just wanted to tell him that I am actually using this "crappy" game to make a bunch of money. Some people are just children; like I would use their tastes to determine what I may or may not like (although that game in particular was trash in my opinion heh.)

I had the same experience when I bought Jumper...both times:)

No. If you have a legit RRoD, you don't have to pay a dime to get it replaced. It would be under (the three year red-ring) warranty.

If it's any other failure (drive, E74, etc.), and out of warranty, you'd be paying. In those cases, it's probably best to force a red-ring on your console.

I keep my console horizontal. Vertical looks too wobbly, and I hate putting discs into a console that is vertical like that.

had that happened to me with turning point for ps3 the employee told me that ill be back returning this game cause it was horriable. He said it like 5 times and i also felt like telling him the same thing about making twice as much as what i was paying for it. But I bit my tongue

Here are some 360 trade in values, all are pretty much busts.

the club $15
blue dragon $8
samurai warriors 2 empires $19
kane & lynch $15
mass effect $19

Same thing happens every time I bought HC:BotP, Fatal Inertia, etc. Just told them each time that it was for friend.
