The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)
Actually, Harmonix will allow you to return any instrument w/o receipt through Oct. 1st (I originally thought it was Oct. 31st). So you got two weeks to get the claim in.

read this

then go here
Thats great news, I did actually complete the RMA process last night, but the very last step claimed a receipt was required, thanks for pointing out the change in policy. I will be sure to quote that back at them if they make a fuss.
Anyone know if PMD: Time and PMD: Darkness still has a base value of $20 trade for BBV ---> GS conversion?
and as of today it does too :whistle2:D although...both PMD games at my BBV are marked at $24.99? Weren't they supposed to be $20 each or did I read that wrong? o_O

Nope. They are $24.99.

I just wish I could find them any more - they got all snapped up around me...

They're $25 each. They become a viable flip (slightly above even) with the +30% trade in credit.

TIV
:360:
All-Pro Football 2K8 $6
Amped 3 $8
Armored Core 4 $6
Conan $6
Darkness, The $8
Dead or Alive Xtreme 2 $6

I also check the TIV for a bunch of blu-rays, they're basically all worth $3.50 >_

Virtua Fighter 5 at my BBV is $19.99 so it is YMMV and i just traded some games

Bladestorm Xbox360 $35
Bladestorm PS3 $36
UEFA 2006-2007 $15

I went into my closest BBV today to try and get the gift card problem I had fixed. They initially had claimed that I had spent $23 of it on something, but then I found another receipt showing the $23 gift card which they dumped onto my account along with a $65.11 gift card for a total of $88.11.

After speaking with the manager earlier today, he said he would call and check to see if the card was used anyplace, etc, etc and he would get back to me.

I went into the same BBV about 20 minutes ago to see if they had fixed the PSN card problem at store level here yet and they said they hadn't. They then proceeded to hand me an envelope containing the dead gift card I brought in earlier and on the outside was an 800 number that I have to call to get a GC containing the $88.11.

What a pain in the ass, but since BBV still has phenomenal TIV's compared to GS and even the local converted Hollywood Video/Gamezone combo store, I'll still trade in there. But from now on I'm having them check my balances on the card(s) before I leave.

Did you ask them to check your store account? Sometimes instead of going to the card, it actually still in your store account.

Actually, I just called BBV's customer care line and they said that the card is valid, but they have to enter it manually/scan the card's barcode instead of just swiping it through the card reader.

They just re-tried it by buying something for .01 @ my local store, so apparently the card IS valid but still kinda f'd up.

I think I'm gonna go to another BBV and have this amount slapped onto my $174.30 card, so the invalid card is truly dead.

figured i'd ask again... which Blockbusters take trade ins? I've called every one in Tallahassee, and they talk to me like I'm insane and suggest I trade my games in at Gamestop...

Is this a regional thing, or what?

So I just got home from work and here's the deal on the PSN cards. They DO work now. Tax is charged on them...boo. No employee discount at all...boo. But on a brighter note and something that will probably make many CAGs happy I watched our corporate weekly message today and they said that this holiday we are going to start carrying gift cards for many places like Applebee's, etc. like some gas stations/Wal-Marts do. So your credit can be turned into things other than games! That potential has me pretty happy.

Best bet is to go there when the manager is on duty, usually early in the day till maybe mid afternoon most times. Ask them, since they should know, but every BBV I've been to around here thus far has taken trades from me, so it's looking less and less like its YMMV.

Maybe it's just that the local clerks at your stores don't want to go through the extra effort to learn how to do the trades? I know that's what the customer service person on the customer care line told me about the gift card/credit that I had been told was messed up.
anybody know the trade in value for Iron Man xbox 360 & Hulk Xbox 360? They are selling for 15.99 on familyvideo.com
I dont remember the exact amount but they are both good trades for BBV. I think they are 32 each.
bladestorm is a rare game, goes for a good amount on ebay too
I just checked Digit Press' rarity guide and Bladestorm is a 0, so it can't be too rare if it's a 0, right?

Maybe he's getting it mixed up with Bonestorm, which is really rare.

Thats enticing enough for me to start flipping again. I have a 40 game backlog right now...but a brothas gotta eat .

you are dead if youre lying.
you are dead if youre lying.
I'm definitely not lying. If I could somehow download the video off our internal servers I would. They are funny as hell to watch (due to poor and cheesy quality). They are usually by our CEO but sometimes he has some stand-ins do the video. Anyway the stand-in guy said we'd be getting the gift cards like they have in Wal-Mart ie: Applebees, Foot Locker, etc before the holiday season. The "first wave" were the PSN cards, cards for online social games, and that T-shirt website. If any other BBV employee could go watch their video on the office computer to back up my statements I'd appreciate it.

I'm just imagining the potential of another "Fantastic Four" flip and turning around and getting restaurant and store gift cards. It saves the whole..buy a (wii/wii fit/whatever) and sell that for cash step in many circumstances.
I have never seen a 12 month MS Live card at Blockbuster. only 3 months. what gives?
I got one at my Blockbuster (Los Angeles, CA) a few months ago, it was a GameRush. I think you should just keep looking until you find one that does.

I love you if this is true. Best news I have heard today.

thinking of ordering Fios (just became available within the past month) to replace my Verizon DSL. main reason is lag on Xbox Live, I can't host games at all, and if I'm playing in a room hosted by someone on the East coast or the UK, it's damn near unplayable (I'm in CA).

anyways, the options I have are:
10/2
20/5
20/20

thinking of going with the 20/5, but if anyone has the 10/2 and hosts games with good connections I could save myself $10 a month.

experience, opinions?

thanks.

Anyone left who pre-ordered The Force Unleashed and got framed artwork? I didn't get anything... forgot all about it, and the person doing the transaction seemed new. Also, there were some verbal cues that made me suspect I was the only one who pre-ordered it.

Anyway, notice Enchanted Arms (360) dropped to $10 used to purchase.

Checking with a manager is iffy too. At one BBV store, that I've visited a few times, doesn't like trades or the hassle so the manager will tell customers to go to GS or will tell employees to say the same to customers when they ask.

Speaking as an employee to another employee...

I like your enthusiasm over the new gift cards, but I won't be surprised to see you go from enthusiastic to bitter in a matter of weeks. BBV has done this before (less than a year ago, even). We carried useful shit (like prepaid Visa cards) and useless shit (phone cards that were only useful in Mexico). In the end it all got shipped back to the distributer after 9 months of dismal sales. In our store it broke down like this (estimated):

20 total items sold
-15 bought fraudulently (with stolen credit cards, bogus checks, etc.)
-4 bought by employees (a computer glitch allowed an employee discount on the cards for the first two weeks we carried them).
-1 missing

In other words... not a SINGLE one of those cards made our store any money. But we did lose money on the fraudently bought ones. These numbers were pretty close to the numbers we saw throughout our district and even neighboring districts. While I hope for better success with this iteration of cards (particularly the gaming cards), I'll be happy if we've broken even when they ask us to send back everything that's not for the X360 or PS3.

I haven't seen any framed artwork either. If they didn't get it in I'm seriously just not going to pick up my preorder and put the credit towards something else. A few drops I noticed today (Sorry if they've already been posted, but I haven't seen them):

Wii
Elebits 9.99
Nights 9.99 (12.70 at GS)

XBox 360
Soldier of Fortune 9.99
Armored Core 4 9.99
Transformers 14.99

There were a couple others but for the life of me I can't remember what they were. Grabbed a mispriced Soldier of Fortune for the PS3 for 9.99 (supposed to be 19.99) and got 14.90 for it at GS.
what's the current trade in value for:

Metal Gear 4
and
Virtua Fighter 5 (360)
Virtua Fighter 5, like Nights, is a flip from BB -> GS. It sells for $14.99 at BBV but GS will give you $14.90 for trade-in with Bonus and edge. Unless there was an unlikely price drop, MGS4 was $54.99 used at BBV last time I checked to you're likely to get $30-36 for it.
I just checked Digit Press' rarity guide and Bladestorm is a 0, so it can't be too rare if it's a 0, right?
Bladestorm I don't think is as rare as it is a pain in the butt to find. I've found maybe two complete copies out of the 12-14 Gamestops I freqent and 2 without the manual.
anybody know the trade in value for Iron Man xbox 360 & Hulk Xbox 360? They are selling for 15.99 on familyvideo.com
Next time I'll go in I'll check the shelf for the new price but if it's still $59.99 you'll likely get $30-$35 for them. I saw those prices yesterday on the site and they're pretty decent, but since I don't get cash from flipping I try not to invest anything other than time and gas money into it therefore maintaining a perpetual flow of games and accessories from my ~$40 investment. I've definitely gotten over $1000 worth of stuff from it, so I'm ok with not jumping on every opportunity.

Wow, that really blows. To be honest though before my Blockbusters started taking trade-ins it had been a good two years since I set foot in them for anything other than the 4 for 20 DVDs. Back when I used to rent there all the time (like 8 years ago when I was still in high school) I bought everything from DVDs and video games to magazines and even a Tracfone. I still see people in BBV when I go, but they're nowhere near as busy as they were back then, so I can see how this wouldn't pan out for them.

Hope you snatched up that Super Mario Galaxy, because that has to be an error.

Man...there is about a .5% chance Galaxy is real drop

A few days ago when I turned on my 360, it started sounding really loud and after a while, the screen went black and I got two red flashing lights. What's the difference between this problem and the three red lights?

They still had Soul Calibur IV framed artwork at my closest BBV last(Tues) night when I was there to try and combine my gift cards/value cards(and found out the one was invalid supposedly).

I was tempted to ask for the 2-3 they had in compensation, but I'd have much rathered the credit.
