The General 360 Owners/Buyers FAQ Thread (Updated 1/15/10)

Yes all of my games are backwards compatible. Far Cry Instincts, Fable, Counter Strike, and a few others. The downloaded game is Indigo Proficiency.

According to the DM here, the "one coupon per customer" means that you can only use one coupon in a transaction. GS currently has at least 5 different coupons in circulation, needless to say, they dont want people combining the 50% bonus trade in coupon with the 30% bonus trade in coupon and then using the 10% & both 20% coupons all in one transaction.

Hm, I figured that would've been covered by "Cannot be combined with any other offer."
 
i dont think anyone really knows what it means. I had one store manager call his DM and was told it's one per transaction, but not to abuse it(one per day per store is ok, but dont use it 5x a day in a store). I have been banned from 2 GSs here for using THEIR OWN coupons once a day, and I have another GS thaT lets me use them, but then the manager blasts out an email if I do warning the other stores that I'm buying products with coupons. It's funny. Then I have a bunch of stores that laugh at that idiot and let jme use whatever I want and gladly take all my trades because they like having the business.

Grabbed a couple games to BB to flip to GS last night. Spyro and Sonic Secret Rings. I knew something was wrong with buying Sonic, but I didn't have my list and was rushing cause I was on my way to work.
Anyway, turned $26.xx BB into $23.xx GS.
I only lost $3 in credit, but it is enough to motivate me to make a slightly out of the way trip tonight to two Gamestops and get a batch of Wii games to make about $40 in credit.
It will add an hour to my trip but $40 for an hours worth of flipping is pretty good. Will try to find something else to push it up to $50.
Moral of the story.
Lose a couple bucks on a flip provides motivation to flip more.

you guys are lucky you have more than one GS near you. I have ONE GS within 5 miles of my house, and the rest are about 25+ from my house which makes round trip time + gas not worth it AT ALL. Tho tonite I will prob head down to nearest GS and pick up Sea Monters (Wii) to trade in ending my trade runs for a LONG while...(unless the new coupon proves even better...)
 
I just got off the phone with a very helpful CSR at the 800 number. Since June 24, I have traded 9800 to them. I am hitting the 10,000 limit. I can confirm that it's real. My account is on hold pending corporate review. Basically, they want to talk about my acct and the usage on it. I was also told that it shows purchases of 17,000 since the same date..I'm not sure why the trade amt is so much lower, I've only ever used the credit from trading as my purchase method..unless when you do a trade/purchase it's only recording the amount that they give me(I trade $150 in, and buy 10 games, so it shows as -40 in stead of -150).

Once I get the letter, I will call the number in it and go over the situation. He says its not suspended, just on hold, and that it may be reinstated. I guess I'll wait to do the corporate review and try to talk them into it.
 
You realize that Microsoft, unlike Sony, doesn't require a receipt right? You can just send the drive in and be fine. But yeah, it really does sound like a hard drive problem if it works fine with the old drive and not with the new one.

Wow, then it looks like many people with a lauch system still working, have reason to worry in a couple months.
Do I dare hope for the RROD at this point? Or do I just "go with the flow".
I guess all good things must come to an end (like the 3 year warranty).
 
Well, I think it's a feat some 360s have lasted almost three years. Just for reference, is your 360 vertical or horizontal?

Wow :lol:. Maybe the $10,000 limit is for some time period? Like I said, I'm very close but that's over 4 years. Actually, I'm a bit over, but I have had 2 accounts for some time and I know I use one of them more heavily than the other but I don't have them separated in my spreadsheet.

It is very weird that they would say your spending is $7000 more than your trading, though. I know mine would show way less as I make at least 1/3 of my purchases as a "Non-Member". And besides $225 or so in My Coke Rewards gift cards, all my money spent at BB has been from trading.
 
My launch system has always be sitting Vertical.
Not in a cabinet, so pretty desent air flow.
I'm not really a hard core gamer. I only play a couple times a week.
I think my game score is still under 5,000. Yes I am ashamed.

Well, I don't know if I'll be able to use the 50% bonus credit coupon, but I did use the 10% off a new game coupon (YMMV - certain GS districts have these flyers) to get Lock's Quest for $26.99 after flipping some BB stuff.

Though someone mentioned the GC rental conversions. I did see Mario Tennis and Mario Party 5 at one store yesterday. Those might be good 50% bonus candidates. Problem is, they are probably beat to hell.

"Them" Animemaniac? Thats cold... I for one do usually post my experiences and TIV's when I get them as well as post on all the threads of the stores I go to.. I just recently got on this site too and feel that I have been contributing to it in a descent fashion.

I do usually look a couple pages back though for the recent TIV's but I guess this one time it slipped me and for that I apologize...

But I do resent being compared to the newbz who don't know/care to find/give any information...

With that said, I'll be more carefull next time... ;-)

Note also that I had it in the second post when you asked ;). Sure, I had it off by $1 (fixed now - it is $15, not $16) but I had it crossed out as a good GS -> BB flip which is the important thing.

In other news I just found out my company is getting me an iPhone to replace my crappy 5 year-old cell phone. It had become an issue out here as people couldn't get a hold of me and email would have been nice to have while I was out and about. But it also will make flipping SO much easier (can check GS stock and prices, check the latest posts from CAG, etc). Nice! :whee:

Sweet! enjoy the phone IO... I'm always on the forums on my iPhone when I go shopping now, the employees must be thinking "what is that guy looking at" lol....

Also good to note for those who have Targets around them (and as some of you may already know) - if there are still any Condemned2's left at your store, many Targets are clearancing them out. I just purchased one yesterday for $9.99 (from 19.99 the week before and 29.99 about 2 weeks before that). There was about 5 left (in the Albany NY area) that I might buy sooner than later just to get some flip money...
 
Cheapassgamer.com needs to come out with a cool iphone app or even a web site thats modified for iphones. That would be sweet

I've think I've pretty much cleaned out most of the flippable titles in the area save a few Bust a Moves and some games that are sans instructions, so maybe I'll use this B2G1 to add six or so titles to my ever growing library. Plus, I need to cut back on the trading for a week or two since I've traded in a lot recently. It'll be nice to take a breather though.

While I was in my local store today, I noticed some pre-order bonuses that I hadn't seen advertised before. I don't think anybody's mentioned them here, but I didn't hunt all that hard, so don't crucify me if this is old news.

The signs were up on the back wall behind the counter, so I couldn't inspect them closely. I do know that the RB2 shirt is the same one other places are giving out. The funny thing is, I have RB2 paid off at BBV, but I recently canceled a GS pre-order after picking up the t-shirt. Had I know about this, it would have saved me the hassle. LOL, guess I'll have two shirts now. I'm just happy to see that they seem to be getting away from all those crappy framed prints and offering better bonuses.

Somebody was asking a few pages back about activated PSN cards.... just bought my second one, and yes, all they do is scan it. Then there's a momentary pause while it gets activated.
 
Ah wish I woulda known about the possible B2G1 but I guess it's not too bad. I still have half of my haul from today left so if it turns out the b2g1 deal is on I can always return it if there is a better flip. Unless you get one of the persistent people who will KEEP asking until someone just gives in and lists the TIV for them.

I'm debating if I'm going to hit the other CC near me today, since my family is going to the casino near there and I might as well make the trek(plus I wanna hit the one Kmart near there for some cheap games), since I want to take advantage of their copies upon copies of DW G while they still have them(and the TIV is still $33-35).

There actually is a faster loading way to view the page now. I noticed it in my international trade class today when I was browsing CAG. There is a link at the top underneath the main banner that says something along the lines of "View CAG on your iPhone".

I do that all the time now. I used to print off a list of the good flips, but now I just look up while in-store.

It is also alot more convenient to bring up the Cellfire Coupon. Which on another note, I have now been the first and only person to use the coupon at three different locations in Grand Rapids, Mi. There I had to actually tell them workers about the coupons. Then I also used it here at school in Midland, MI and just south in Saginaw, MI.

NOTE: That cellfire coupon is brought up really easy because it is a Cellfire App that is installed on your iPhone.

One strange thing I have noticed is what steps I have to go through to get my NAT to "Open". I only had to troubleshoot this because I got a different console after getting the RRoD on my first console.

Static IP's do not work for me. I have tried every static IP in the 15 I have set for my DHCP server. They would always be Moderate.

Channel 1 would not give me an Open NAT...ever.

Channel 6 and channel 11 will give me an Open NAT when I allow the 360 to automatically obtain its IP/DNS entries. DMZ does nothing for making it Open either.

I just find this kind of strange, since most people get their issue solved by creating a static IP...whereas mine is only Open by setting it to automatcially find its own information (on channels 6 and 11 only).
