The "Is This Game Rare?" Thread
Is Steel Battalion worth more if I had the original box for all items?! Got it with a used xbox I bought off Craigslist a few years ago.
yeah about $120-$150. shipping that thing would be a bitch though. before you sell it on ebay or amazon, make sure you find out how much you'd spend shipping it. try to find the 2nd game you might increase the value of it.

Is the Zelda: Twilight Princess DS cart trailer still selling well? I remember it fetching $300 before Zelda: TP came out, but I haven't seen it since.

about $170-$200. i tried to win the last one listed and it ended around $160+. maybe youll get more for it now.

What about Fox Hunt for PC? I know the PS1 version fetches about $25 or so. I checked Ebay and the only completed listing for the PC version was $15 and it supposedly sold for that.

I saw a copy of this the other day at an overpriced Salvation Army around here.

fox hunt for the pc isnt really rare but i have a feeling it will be along with other unique titles for pc. they didnt really sell well so they werent produced in large numbers. even if they were, the chances of those copies surviving after many years is slim.

if the game is under $5, then i would buy it. if its $10 and its still there the next time you see it, then its probably meant for you to buy it.

It was $4.99 plus tax, which would be $5.29 here AFTER tax. I passed on it though, since there's really no guarantee it'll go up and I hate seeing money sitting there on stuff that 'may go up in value', especially stuff I can't return for a cash refund at 90 days if no one makes me an offer for it.

Is the Japanese version of Castlevania Chronicles for the PSX really work this much?

New - http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...ategory=139973&_trkparms=algo=LVI&its=I&otn=1

I've been sitting on a version that BuyRite sent me by mistake years ago instead of SotN and they let me keep it... I could have sworn it wasn't worth more then $20 just a few years ago so I wanted to see if anyone knew anything more. The US version appears to be fairly rare, but I can't find much detail on the Jp version.

I was digging in my closet and found a copy of Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete for the PSX. It was practically brand new and had all the cardboard standees and pieces sealed up, music CD as well as the pendant/locket thing in the drawstring bag. What do you think I can get for it?

That's the first semi-positive thing I've ever heard about Buy-Rite... I'm surprised they actually even bothered to respond to you. I never had the pleasure to order from them online (the brick and mortar store in Raleigh, NC was only 15 minutes from my house), but the one time I bought a game from them (import PSO v2) the guy blatantly told me "This game has already sold online, but I'll sell it to you since you traveled all the way here." Now that's an ethical business (and I guess it was kind of wrong of me to buy it, but I needed it ASAP ).

Their legacy has tainted about 30% of the used retro games I find at yard sales, pawn shops, etc. in my area. A good bit of the stuff I find has those silver Buy-Rite stickers that do not peel off stuck to them.

I got mine like that for $50.

hm i have sealed copies of Xenosaga 3 and UFC Sudden Impact, both for PS2. i hear these are worth something, although i'm not sure what's the best way to sell them.

xenosaga 3 sealed $70-$80. if you have the lenticular version from bestbuy sealed, probably around $100-$120.

ufc is worth $30. maybe a little more for a sealed copy.

Need some info. Anybody know anything about this? Title is Shadow Hearts II World Guidance. ISBN number doesn't pop up on amazon. It doesn't appear to be a strategy guide but more of an art book, but then again I can't tell what it says.
Wow. 6000 yen is 66 dollars. Wonder if they sell for that.
Well, demand may fluxuate if you were to sell that in North America. Honestly, even in specialty shops I've seen that stock such artbooks that would normally go for 5000+ yen in Japan sell for around 20 to 30 dollars here, and I can attest that the few times I've purchased artbooks on ebay, I've rarely paid over 20 for one.

Being rare and being worth money are often 2 very different things with video games. Super Mario Games, for example, arean't particularly rare, but still fetch $10- $20 dollars (SMB3 specifically) because they are popular and well-loved. So while something may not be "rare" in the sense that there were a ton of them made, they still will be hard to find because no one wants to sell them (i.e. Harvest Moon kinda stuff). Just a thought, after looking at your PS games.

But what the hell do I know, my ventures are in NES and SNES....

thats a japanese issue artbook. it wouldnt have much value here in the states. come to think of it, there really isnt much value for any artbooks that comes out here. the guides actually become rare more than the limited edition artbooks.

I can't think of any artbooks that were released here for sale outside of the FFIX one. The only valuable artbook I can think of is the Valkyria Chronicles one which was for preorders.

Monster Hunter 2 (import - PS2)? The US version was cancelled and never released, but there's a complete Japanese copy at the local Goodwill.

Found a mint CE Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 for ps3 this morning for 15 dollars. I have never seen one before and there is only one listing on ebay so I was wondering if it israre to find one? Thinking of picking it up just to collect.

Saw Persona 4 PS2 sealed at Hastings, but not sure of the price, is it worth it to go back and check?

Also, I know not rare, but a pawn shop near here has sealed copies of Syphon Filter(GH) at $4 each, but they're sealed inside that yellow packaging PS1 games used to come in, worth it?
Any chance it might be some day?
i think people have generally lost hope for all things Atlus these days (with the exception of Demon Souls Limited Edition of course). i dont think they have been all that collectible lately.

You mean that fluorescent green packaging, right? And if you mean is it worth it to PLAY, then yes, since the game was pretty damn good back in the day.

However, as a collectible I sincerely doubt it.

What about Half Life: Raising The Bar? That's worth about $80 or so/

I thought this was already ported to the PSP?

Well I still argue that it's yellow, but I digress. Anyway, I couldn't find one single picture of what I'm talking about, but it's Syphon Filter(GH)[and THPS3, Cool Boarders 4, and a Barbie game, all separately] in packaging like this:

Is a sealed, black label, first print copy (with "collectible artwork inside") of Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories worth anything more than the going MSRP of $20? Could not find a good number of copies on eBay or Amazon to figure out. The only price I saw was ~$40.

@phoenix, just pick up copy.. $4 man!

its greatest hits now, so its worth around $20. seeing as though the previous 2 kingdom hearts are still available to buy, this kingdom hearts will be available for all eternity like the other one.

target still has the game for $30 eventhough the cover says GREATEST HITS :bomb:

Oh yeah. Completely forgot about that one.

It really sucks too because I was hoping to pick it up one day. Oh well.

I would hold on to one if I had a copy. I think it'll be worth something in the future simply because it says 1st print on the case.
Is Chrono Cross on PS1 sealed rare?
Chrono Cross is still in print, so definitely not. Unless it's a non-GH version.
Chrono Cross is still in print, so definitely not. Unless it's a non-GH version.
Yeah, it's black-labeled.

There are still PS1 games in print? That's amazing! I thought everyone had stopped making them.

There are a select few Square Enix titles still in print, such as Final Fantasy VIII, Final Fantasy Chronicles, Final Fantasy Anthology, Final Fantasy Origins, Final Fantasy IX, and Chrono Cross. Also, there is the PSX version of Metal Gear Solid included in the Essentials Collection, if you count that.

I'm surprised you still have a sealed black label copy, those have been long out of print. That means that it boasts the Squaresoft logo, while new copies say Square Enix on them.

Yeah, I'm surprised I got it too. My dad got it in a care package last tour of duty in Iraq and just gave it to me today. Didn't even think to look if the logo was SquareSoft or Enix until you mentioned it.

I was curious about whether I should play it or not, I'm guessing I should save it.

That's awesome about FFVIII still being in print! I've never played it and always wanted to, so I think I'll look into getting it.

EDIT: WOOO!!! I also have Chrono Cross for PS1 without case that carries the SquareSoft label! I shall be playing that postehaste!

What?! No. The only PS1 game that has been printed anytime recently is MGS in the Essentials collection.

I'd love to see your proof of this. It had better not be a link to amazon, either. They just haven't run out of stock of the GH versions.
Yeah, reprinted. But still in print? I don't think so.
yes they are still in print and will be for a little while longer as long as there is a system out there that would play them. in this case, both the ps2 and ps3 can play these ps1 games.

most if not all final fantasy games are still in print. square enix is making a killing on these and are probably one of the only companies that does this to this day. the cartridge based games are no longer in print for most recent FF games.

the only disc based games that are not in print anymore are:

ps1: Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy Tactics
ps2: Final Fantasy XII Collector's Edition (which was exclusive at Gamestop), Final Fantasy XI Online, Final Fantasy Wings of Goddess, Final Fantasy Vana'Deil Collection

Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey and Parasite Eve for PS1. I just managed to snag Oddworld on ebay but i am getting seriously gouged for Parasite Eve. Are they really that rare?
