Even though he's injured, ya'll are forgetting one potential monkey wrench:

I think Jericho deserves a better person to feud with. John Cena can cut good promos and is a good personality, but he's not the right personality for Jericho.
Plus, I would rather not see Cena do a Superman and kill Jericho's credibility as a monster heel.
I feel like the group is going to turn on Orton in favor of Jericho, his methodology seems much more inline with Rhodes and Holly than Ortons. Then Orton and Batista can resume their Bromance as tweeners
Yes. I could definitely see Ted Jr., Afa Jr., and Cody Rhodes blindsiding Orton and aligning themselves with Jericho. I think they would be better off with Jericho than Orton as Jericho is fresh off a monster heel push in a great story against Shawn Michaels. Orton, while he did head-kick Punk, could play a tweener role just because some people will cheer for him regardless of his alignment. Plus, Orton has a better chance at getting cheers than Jericho.
I guess it really depends on how long they have him sell the kick-o-doom for. It's just... it's one thing for him to lose the title, but another entirely to be pulled from a match at a PPV and, essentially, be stripped of the title.
If it *is* all storyline, I'd be pissed if I were Punk. It's bothersome since Punk still doesn't seem to 'fit' in the Raw main event scene. I saw this as his opportunity to really step up and be recognized as a genuine member of the title picture. I really do think that, in a lot of ways, this killed his credibility entirely, since he never really had any going into it.
They have treated Punk rather terribly during his title reign. While shorter, the severity of the disrespect is as bad as -- if not, worse than -- Rey Jr.'s title reign.
I have no idea what Raw Creative was/is thinking. I figured they wanted to use Punk as the figurehead for their new kid-friendly marketing.
ing bullshit. Jericho showed

-all for injuries after he got in the ring and Punk, the champ who was supposed to be defending IN THE MAIN EVENT wasn't even live in the arena all night.
Yes, even though Jericho deserves to be champ, I'm slightly pissed at how it went down.
I concur. I think Jericho has earned a World title reign due to his top-notch monster heel performance. Unfortunately, it came at the misfortune of CM Punk. Again, I have no idea what Raw Creative is thinking. CM Punk got less respect than MVP, who's supposedly in the dog house, as at least MVP wrestled on the PPV.
But Jericho didn't need to sell the massive beating he took anymore than he did, I mean they were calling for trainers to come down to check on him after HBK punched him in the face for like a full minute. But I guess I'm arguing about continuity in pro-wrestling though.
I have a feeling this was an improvised decision made during the PPV. If they wanted to save CM Punk's WWE career, they would have had him pull a Cena, come out, and miraculously retain the title. Then, have Orton and Co. attack him.
