Why? I rather enjoyed it. I found it to be fun. I like how Regal went all ape shit on the guy:lol:
Since I posted the announcement of HHH vs. Orton in a cage earlier, I'm going to go ahead and speculate that we get Cena vs. JBL and Santino/Carlito vs. Holly/Rhodes at Judgment Day as well.

Thanks! I guess I'll need to drive out and pick this one up. More Hardy matches are always welcome. Still, this is like Hardy volume 2 after the Ladders match DVD. That was pretty much all them with a couple of nice HBK ladder matches.

In video-related news, I finally got around to getting the Stone Cold DVD set and have been very pleasantly surprised. It's pretty much all matches including a ton of stuff from smaller PPVs that I don't have on other compilations. The highlight of disc one is a toss up between an amazing WCW match against Ricky Steamboat and Bret Hart's return match where he faced Austin for number one contender status. They also include more of his ECW interviews which are pretty amazing.
1988 AWA isn't nearly as fun as 1986 AWA that they were showing a week ago. Is this the same Lee Marshall from WCW? He's terrible.
Yeah, I agree it isn't the same, although there was a good match with Kerry Von Erich vs. Jerry Lawler match last night. Back when Lawler was AWA Champ(and had a mullet) and Erich was WCCW Champ.

As for Lee Marshall, yep, it's the same guy from WCW.

Lee Marshall provided many of my favorite Nitro moments. He'd be doing his stupid-ass "HEY GUYS I'M AT A NITRO PARTY IN THE CITY WE'LL BE IN NEXT WEEK FOR WHATEVER REASON" 1-800-COLLECT promo thing and always throw in a horribly weak "weasel" joke at the end that Schiavone and Tenay would pretend to laugh at...and Heenan would always come back with a fucking hilarious one-liner that owned Marshall every time. Shit, I wouldn't mind paying a few bucks for a "Lee Marshall Road Report" comp just for that.

The end of raw was funny, and yet depressing at the same time. Like many has said before it was a good match I would have liked to seen some sort of out come. If I was at a show in person, and that happened I would feel cheated.
The end of raw was funny, and yet depressing at the same time. And who needs another one of those? This was a memorable ending and it puts more heat on Regal, so it ends up being a good move if ya ask me!

Zen, I blame the bad PWG crowd on the city of La Habra. That gym is pretty bad for crowds because a) it's fucking HOT and b) it's nowhere near the die-hard PWG fans in LA.

If you find anything from the JCC (pre-2007 stuff, mostly), the crowds were much much better. I miss that venue.

Zen, please don't post direct links to Ditch's stuff - he's asked people not to do that unless you have permission, as it eats up his bandwidth. Just upload it to sendspace and then post that link if you don't have permission.

Aside from the Lawler-Kerry "title unification" match (and that awesome Sgt. Slaughter video), the AWA show was shit, but at least provided some amusing moments (like Harvey Wippleman looking like the most masculine person on-screen when he came down to the ring with the RPMs, who wore tons of pink and won the match with a crotch-to-ass cover.

Here's Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Keiji Muto from 4/27/08 for the IWGP Heavyweight title.

Uh, I wasn't paying full attention...but what the hell was the situation with the commentators during the main event on ECW? I seen Adamle get up and leave...but why did Tazz stop talking? That was odd...

Groovy - I love Ditch's sites, and would like to see them stay up for as long as possible.

I dug the work pulled off tonight by WWE with Adamle and Tazz - it was done for the right match (Bam and Chavo vs. Kane, which no commentary team on Earth could have made entertaining), and has had people wondering if it was real or not since it happened. WWE's done a great job with these worked shoots, and TNA could learn something about them, instead of botching them by making them obviously works (like the BG/Kip "quit" TNA thing where their headset was "cut off".)

It was neat to see Scott Steiner on today's AWA show - I didn't know he worked in the AWA, and it was great to hear Lawler on commentary throughout the show. He was fantastic, and added some excellent insight into the Garvin match, making the TV title seem meaningful because he, the world champion, not only mentioned the existence of this lesser champion, but talked him up, and said that he wanted to face him. It was a bit surreal to hear him mention Garvin was the NWA Champion, and slightly odd to hear him do that, and then bury the NWA and WWF Champions as only being "company" champions.

I loved seeing them re-air the Lawler-Kerry Von Erich match, and hear about Verne Gagne's trip to France, where he saw Sgt. Slaughter toys, but not Ustinov toys, and hear Verne compare the Ustinov-Slaughter staredown to Ali-Frazier. Those bits ruled.

Quotes -
Lee Marshall - We’ve got some tough guys in this match, Cactus Jack, Gary Young, and Scott Steiner!
Lee - Doing commentary for this exciting Mike Enos match, the world heavyweight champion, Jerry Lawler!
Lawler - There have been a lot of wrestling Pay-Per-Views, but this particular event will bring wrestlers from all over the world, and different companies, together. All the AWA stars, all the World Class stars will be there. CWA, CWF there. Just about every major wrestling organization will be involved, and it’ll be one the biggest events in wrestling history.
Lawler - You know, there are people who claim to be world champions, but they only defend their titles against guys in their own company, so they’re only company champions, not world champions.
Lee - There you see Ron Garvin with the AWA International TV title - one of the most prestigious titles in all the world!
Lee - There’s the Hands of Stone, he’s got a great right hand, Jerry. Not to slight you.
Lawler - Well, I never claimed to be the greatest technician, but I’ve got a good left, and I’d love to face Garvin. Just a few months ago, he beat Ric Flair to win the NWA World Heavyweight champion, and now he’s the AWA International TV Champion. I believe with every fiber in my body that I could knock Ron Garvin out with one punch!
Lee - And he thinks that he could do that to you.
Lawler - Absolutely - that’s why they have wrestling matches.
Lawler - The other two champions are company champions - Kerry and I are gonna find out who is the undisputed WORLD champion.
Lawler - This is right where the Rock ‘n Roll Express got their start - Nashville, Tennessee. It’s Ricky Morton’s hometown.
Lee - I don’t understand Tanaka - he was one of the greatest amateur wrestlers of all-time and now he‘s with DDP. He must’ve woken up stupid one day!
Verne - I was in France and I saw a bunch of Sgt. Slaughter toys.
Lee - Did you see any Ustinov toys?
Verne - No, I did not.
Lee - I’m sure he’d say they were either sold out or sold only in Russia.
Verne - Boy, this staredown reminds me of Ali-Frazier.
Verne - Look at Slaughter, looks like he’s been in the gym. Look at those shoulders.
Lee - And don’t for a second think that Ustinov can’t wrestle - he’s one of the best in the world!
Verne - Looking at the military man, the Sarge, or whatever his rank is now, and Colonel DeBeers, the mercenary from South Africa.
Lee - The ref is ordering Ustinov to get off! Get off his man!
Fan - GO JOE!
Lee - Fans, no kidding, I’m from L.A. - I’m used to earthquakes, and I thought we had one when the Sarge hit the floor.
Verne - Yup, the floor shook!
Slaughter - USA NUMBER 1! WE’VE HAD IT TOUGH ALL THE TIME! WE’RE NUMBER 1, ALWAYS HAVE BEEN, ALWAYS WILL BE, DON’T EVER FORGET IT! I WANT TO CHALLENGE JERRY LAWLER, AND THAT…OTHER CHAMPION… KERRY VON ERICH, TWO WORLD CHAMPIONS! I’LL FACE THEM BOTH ON TH SAME EVENING OR ONE ON ONE! I’M AMERICA’S CHAMPION! YOU’RE DISMISSED!

It has been no secret that our traditional ECW fans have not been satisfied with Adamle’s lackluster commentary. Speculation is this could have led to the play by play and color commentator walking off during a WWE broadcast. Did Adamle and Tazz leave of their own volition or were they asked to leave?

thats a direct wwe.com quote

Why must they fuck everything up like that?

It would have been BRILLIANT if they let the dirt sheets carry it, or put it on the "industry news" section of their webiste.

Promoting it front and center on the main wwe webpage shows it to be the work it is.

And it turns out Heyman was SPOT ON in his analysis of Adamle - McMahon put him there precisely because he's terrible, figuring people would turn in to watch such a dogshit performance. And based on your reaction to the shows recently, y'all have been worked.

It's just a shame that they've resorted to the biggest angle running on the third brand of WWE involving two announcers and no wrestlers (not to mention it's one of only two ongoing storylines in ECW, with the other being so beyond thoughtless and passe that it's hopeless).

I was going to watch the show tonight, but then I discovered an hour ago that I deleted the program subscription from my DVR - so it didn't tape. Oh well.

Just read this on wikipedia:
April 29, 2008, after the show went suddenly silent, it was reported that Adamle and his broadcast partner Tazz had walked off a live edition of ECW before the main event of the broadcast began. In reality, Adamle left first, leaving Tazz in confusion, before WWE officials informed Tazz to leave the booth to cover Adamle's vanishing act.

Still, I personally don't care for Adamle anyway. Joey Styles was the only thing left going for this version of ECW. Past that, and it was just all crap - with the exception being CM Punk (but one man doesn't make a show when everyone around you is mostly crap and you don't live up to your namesake).

I'll bet a BD copy of Wrestlemania this is a total work.

That's how convinced I am.

EDIT: Yeah, I've been done with ECW for awhile. Shame, really, as I want to see how Justin "The Ox" LaRoche is doing over there (he's "Cam Neely" or whatever). I saw a few photos of him, and he's clearly a farm boy, as the suit he bought makes him look like a rube. It's not tailored in the slightest, and it's way too big (like WAYYYY too big) in several spots. He doesn't look classy, he looks like when WWF made Mideon and Henry Godwinn into the "Southern Justice" tag team.

A 'billy in a suit, in other words.

But, year...ECW. I've given up. It's about as much "ECW" as the current touring act calling themselves "Lynyrd Skynyrd" is the original act.

And, to complete the metaphor, there's as much chance of something resembling the original ECW happening as there is of the real members of Skynyrd suddnly coming back to life 30+ years later and playing "Tuesday's Gone" in my basement.

What's concerning is how WWE keeps fumbling elementary concepts, like putting the Adamle "story" in the Industry News section of their website. The little things matter, and sometimes make a difference.

I'm assuming this means Adamle will become a heel commentator, which would probably come off as very hokey. I just don't see the point in running such a storyline. What's its purpose? If it's entertainment, they're running ECW in the wrong direction.

Tonight, I watched ECW for the first time in a long while. Shelton and Kofi put on a good show. They mesh well as performers, and I'd like to see more solid feuds like it.

I read that Nic Nemeth worked a dark match under a good gimmick. He and Jeter, to reiterate for the umpteenth time, are excellent performers, and could carry the company, if built up properly. Nemeth's personality is incredible. He has a heel Owen Hart quality that just works.

Smackdown spoiler.
Undertaker vs. Great Khali. Taker in ring, Edge & Vickie Guerrero on the stage. Vickie says that Taker is reckless, does not look out for his opponents and his submission move is now banned. If he uses it, he will have hell to pay. Vickie then says that because of his actions, Undertaker has been stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship and to bring it to her... he refuses. Khali comes out for the match. Taker puts the submission move on Khali, during this, Hawkins & Ryder hit the ring, take the World Heavyweight Championship and run up the ramp and give it to Vickie. Khali is choked out as Taker goes to head up the ramp after Edge. They escape. Taker looks back and returns to the ring. He chokeslammed a bloodied Khali and left him laying.

Is that for real? Thats how he loses it?
Wow. When you don't want to do the job, you don't want to do the job.

I know I'll be watching to see how this plays out.

So it has been said before that he doesn't want to job?

It's news to me if he has. He's lost more frequently than many other top talents. I remember Mankind kicking his ass for what seemed like all of 1996. Kane doing the same thing back in... what? 1998? More recently, Brock Lesnar beat him cleanly on several occasions. That being said, maybe he just doesn't want to job to Edge.

I don't think that Vicki will be able to "officially" end his current reign and instead we'll get a month or two of Edge running around with the physical title before Undertaker gets it back at a PPV.

-Mark Briscoe underwent successful surgery on April 25th. The injury was actually worse than originally thought. The surgery was supposed to repair the ligament in Mark's wrist. However, the surgery turned into a reconstruction as there was more damage than initially thought. The doctor said Mark had a lot of old injuries and the ligament finally snapped because the bones were actually out of line and pulling on the ligaments along with the impact of the injury itself. The doctor put the bones back where they belong and pinned them. Then he drilled a hole through Mark's arm and pulled a tendon from the other side of his arm and made it do the job of the torn ligament. The surgery was very involved, but the doctor said it went technically perfect. Recovery time will be 3-6 months.

Probably not, from the sounds of the spoilers, they're continuing the feud with HBK. Although from the looks of the promo mentioned, he's slowly turning heel.

As for Taker, I guess the title taken off of him is to extended the feud. Although at this point, it's as boring as the Cena/Edge feud a few summers back. Khali getting beaten in the ring this week is just the excuse WWE did to cover his ass while he goes back to India and gets knee surgery.

One of the reasons Bobby Lashley got a release from WWE on his terms, which lets him go to TNA if he chooses to, is because the feeling is that if he went public on his complaints on Michael Hayes, and there was some corroboration, it would make the company look bad. So WWE agreed to release Lashley on his terms on the condition that he does not say anything negative about the company.

Back in January, Lashley talked about "evil prevailing" in WWE in his statement on his official website regarding his departure from the company. "I can't go into details of this now but like I said before sometimes people will hate you personally and try to destroy you, which has happened here. Evil has prevailed however like I said before if you continue your struggle doors will open around these people."

Additionally, one of the reasons Lashley moved from SmackDown to ECW in late 2006 was because Michael Hayes -- who was the head writer of the blue brand at the time -- wanted nothing to do with him. There were also rumors that Lashley had demanded to be moved to another brand. At the time, Lashley was saddled in a lame duck feud with Tatanka, who had just turned heel (and was fired three months later).

As noted earlier, a person by the name of Matthew Randazzo plans on writing a book on WWE called "Ring of Hell." It will be released in July by Phoenix Books. The book will chronicle the use of racial slurs on the part of WWE executives in the workplace. One WWE writer told Randazzo: "Brother Love and Michael Hayes would also routinely make racist jokes. I heard them use the 'n' word a few times."

Randazzo also claimed that a WWE production member asked him to release the following statement anonymously:

Michael Hayes 60-day suspension for allegedly making racist comments comes as no surprise to anyone who has ever worked with him. Since Stephanie took over the reigns of Creative, bringing him on-board after Russo and Ferrera left for WCW, Hayes has been a racist boor making n-jokes at every writers' meeting -- until one day that he was shocked and offended that Stephanie hired an African-American Writer's Assistant in 2003.

*The article is long, read it at Rajah for its entirety*

Unfortunately, I cannot say I'm surprised at racism in pro-wrestling, especially from someone like, the Southern bred, Michael Hayes. I am surprised that no one kept Hayes in check or took him to task for it.

I'd book Mark Henry, Shelton Benjamin, Kofi Kingston, Cryme Tyme, MVP, Elijah Burke, Ron Simmons, and Big Vis versus Michael Hayes at Judgment Day in a "Loser Gets Beat the F Up fo realz" match. ;)

I don't think Finlay will be getting the world title - he's apparently been suspended for assaulting Khali with a shampoo bottle (JBL was also allegedly involved, but Finlay's taking the heat). I've only seen this reported on a single board, not on a site, so I'm not sure how accurate this is. Given JBL's history of assault, and Finlay's history of bullying people, I'm not too shocked.

"Assaulting" in the literal or biblical sense?

JJSP- I just got the DVD today. Thank you very much. I'll likely watch it in a few days once my GTA IV addiction cools a bit.

I'd love to make it to a PWG show sometime, but I have no car, so I'm SOL right now.

Also, I must note that you have the neatest handwriting I have ever seen from any straight male. That kind of penmanship is usually exclusive to women and homosexuals. I mean that as a compliment, LOL.
