Hmm.

some reason i could never stand TNA after hogan came.. it seems they are just trying to remake the WCW brand... Seem like the only people TNA get is wwe or wcw wash outs.. or over the hill people noone gives a crap about anymore

TNA used to be good but not anymore... Funny how they think TNA can even stand up to WWE on monday night... you say TNA and many people will say WTF is this crap

I lucked out at the bookstore and picked up the hardback edition of Jericho's autobiography for 6 bucks. I'll read it once I finish up the book I'm currently reading.

It's such a funny book. I think I finished it over three reading sessions spread over two days. Foley's books are still my favorite wrestling biographies but Jericho's is a very close second.

Speaking of which, I really wanna hunt down the hardcover versions of Foley's books. My local B&N only ever has the paper back version of The Hardcore Diaries.
3 black people in MITB is too many for Vince.

Also, on the political side of things, the "conservative" Senate candidate Linda McMahon is under fire for something new. Her credibility as a 'conservative' is under fire since she and Vince own a speed boat licensed in Florida under the name "Sexy Bitch."
Conservative or liberal, that's just a prime indicator of extremely classy people.
There were 4 in last year's MITB. ;)
Precisely why it's down to 3 this year. That's too much "flava" for Vince.
I wonder who Kofi pissed off?
Randy Orton. Didn't Kofi blow a spot 3 weeks in a row including one against Orton. That is what got Mr Kennedy shipped off after his first night back in a year. I wouldn't be suprised to see Kofi get tossed a bone on Monday and be put into the match. You cant give the guy a main even level push late last year against Orton and then leave him off of WrestleMania.

I was actually hoping that Kofi would stay out of MITB and team up with Orton, turning that dreadful triple threat that makes no sense into a tag-team match that makes a little more sense, but still not enough.

To be fair, the suplex Kennedy did to Orton was unsafe - Kofi was just out of position for the finish on the one that pissed Orton off.

Yeah, I heard about that via twitter. I ordered it. Came to $7.07 after shipping.

No, it really wasn't.

House cleaning today, which means random wrestling dvd is going on.

Wrestlemania 17 today (rock v austin). Watching some of the angle clips (the dvd extras), this PPV is 10 years old, but the production style and setup is precisely the same as they're using today.

I think I remember really liking this WM. Let's see if it stands the test of time. The gauge is how much cleaning I accomplish - the better the programming, the longer it takes to clean.

Yes, it was.

What is your opinion on Ric Flair's legacy in the wrestling business? I've been thinking about this a lot recently, and last night, I read his book for the first time- cover to cover. I didn't get into WCW until 1997, so I didn't get to see a lot of stuff from Flair's career till his first DVD set came out. Now, he's one of my all-time favorites.

I'm kind of torn on this issue. I enjoy his current work in TNA and, as great as he is as a face, he's even better as a heel. However, I still think he should have stayed retired after his loss to HBK at WrestleMania 24. The Hall of Fame induction, Mania, and Raw the night after were 3 amazing nights, and the perfect capper to Flair's career in my opinion.

When he came back 2 months later on raw in Salt Lake City, I was disappointed. To me, it cheapened his "retirement". And then, a year and a half later, he came out of retirement to job to Hogan 4 times. Now, of course, he's a semi-active wrestler in TNA.

The best thing he can do at this point is put over a few guys like D'Angelo Dinero and, um, well... I guess that's the only guy I could really see him "putting over". But I'd also like to see him wrestle Angle again, and Styles (preferably after an AJ face turn) and then end it all with a match against Sting at Bound For Glory after which they both go out as huge babyfaces.

Flair should never be a baby face.

The only time it worked was when they made The Four Horsemen a baby face stable, to combat the nWo.

Flair, like any wrestler, gets to decide when they retire. And like so many, he went back on his retirement match almost immediately. Unlike so many others, he's only had one retirement match.

Foley 'retired' in 2000.
Macho Man 'retired' in 1992.
Terry Funk 'retired'...hell, probably before ECW ever existed.

Wrestlers retire and come back all the time. It's their choice to do so. In a storybook, retiring at WM24 would be a storybook ending, but life ain't a storybook. More to the point, singling out Flair for this is silly, and acting like he should have stayed out of the business is giving the WWE power over Flair's legacy that they don't deserve.

Flair would be shining again in his career if he were paired with Robert Roode. But he's gotta force the smiles out as he's praising AJ Styles. It's not that he "spoiled" his retirement. How narcissistic are we to decide when someone should or shouldn't stop? It's that he's forced to promote something he doesn't believe in - AJ Styles as the "nature boy."

Flair announced his retirement after being piledriven through a table by Terry Funk, after Flair had beaten Steamboat for the NWA title. Flair also lost a retirement match to Hulk Hogan in 1994.

And I like the partnership with Styles, since AJ is my favorite TNA wrestler. But AJ as a heel just doesn't work right.

Let's be fair, that was just part of the storyline. Barring the Hogan match from 94 (I don't think I've ever seen that one) Mr. Kevermin is correct. :)

His first DVD set has another retirement announcement from Mid-Atlantic Wrestling in the early 80s, if you want to take THAT route. :)
I might be wrong, by I think his name is meant to be broken up as "myke vermin," not "my kevermin"
That's what I always thought, too.

Flair has done alot to ruin his legacy. If he had retired following the last match of WCW against Sting on Nitro, Flair would have gone down as one out of the top 3. He is definately top 10 but probably got pushed down to 6ish.

Savage was forced into the announcing chair in 91. He still had plenty of gas left in the tank to go and proved that by being over and decent til 99.

if someone could post results, thatd be fantastic. ill be watching season 3 of heroes and cleaning this ungodly dirty room. enjoy kiddos.

I don't know why you would open with the ladder match. I really hate Mike Tenay too.

Ladder Match - Daniels, Kazarian, Amazing Red, Brian Kendrick
Decent enough match, about 15 minutes long. Not a fan of ladder matches myself but this one was decent enough in my eyes. Kazarian wins. Different awesome points throughout the match. Kaz getting power bombed onto a ladder set up across the ropes in the corner. Red and Daniels on the ladder setup across the gap between the ring and the fence. Kaz jumping from the top rope to land on the two ladders. Suplexing Daniels while his legs caught in the two ladders.

Yeah, that didn't make much sense. Makes me think that the crowd is being prompted by some jackasses working for TNA in the crowd.

Knockout Championship - Tara, Daffney
Standard women's wrestling fare, the crowd wasn't all that into it. Tara won, Daffney ran off with the tarantula.

Global Championship - Rob Terry, Magnus
Wow, just a straight up squash. Rob Terry wins, I think it took like 2 minutes max.

Definitely not thrilled so far tonight. Hope the Ultimate X match coming up next is decent.

Ah, I didn't know that part. Never been a huge fan of TNA so haven't paid much attention to their practices in that regards.

Ultimate X - Motor City Machine Guns, Generation Me
I have to say this has been the best match so far tonight. Motor City Machine Guns won, but it was awesome all around. They did a good job of letting Generation Me show themselves. I would say it was an impressive outing for them. Both teams had great spots and I don't think a move by move recap could do it justice really. Had to be seen.

I'm doing spoilers in-case people watch replays. That and no one really cares what I think. Figured I'd put results there for those that do care though. I figure the worst match of the night is coming up next. I expect garbage from Hall & Waltman vs. Nash & Young. Hall looks bloated as usual and just think he is probably loaded as usual. At least Waltman looks somewhat in fighting shape.

Nash & Young, Hall & Waltman
Hall & Waltman win thanks to Nash powerbombing Young. Whoever didn't see the double cross coming was a moron. I'm sorry, it was to be expected with the group in charge of TNA. Don't understand why the ref didn't call for a DQ with the obvious paint on the face.

Also, they kept using the term Wolfpac, doesn't WWE own that after the purchase of WCW? I mean, I found it odd they are using sound alike music for Hogan and "The Band" and think that's a good idea.

WWE lost the rights to the nWo music around two years ago, and "Wolfpäc" wasn't acquired by the WWE.

(I thought "The Band" was a corny name.)

The Band is a terrible name, I was just curious about how much WWE had control over terms/music wise from the WCW purchase. Didn't know they had lost the rights to that music though.

Yeah. The nWo entrance music was licensed to WCW, and WWE had to purchase the license for their own use when they brought the nWo back from the dead.

The muzac-like version that Hogan currently uses was the second-string nWo entrance theme used in one of the WCW games for the PSX. (I think it was Thunder.)

Another tidbit I know: It's rumored that Paul Orndorff created the nWo logo.

Don't forget that one of the major storylines in the company is revolving around this, I don't think they care too much about getting sued.

The crowd tonight has pretty much seemed like garbage. Of course that is probably all due to the fact the Impact Zone crowd is generally terrible.

They NEED to make Morgan a Mike Awesome-caliber heel.

Wow. You're not kidding about this crowd.

They have random moments of getting into it, but it dies off way too quickly.

Matt Morgan & Hernandez, Beer Money
This match wasn't all that spectacular. Interesting build up of the tension between Hernandez and Morgan. All throughout the match Morgan is just riding Hernandez about the shit that's been going on between them. I did expect the titles to change hands, but I'm glad they didn't. Adds another layer to the tension. Of course Morgan laying out Hernandez after the win was good in my mind too. I actually feel they might be on to something here.
