well technically the Jazz at 54 - 28 were the "5th" seed.. the rockets were essentially the 4th.
This game is certainly being called like its in Cleveland... I can't stand the NBA.
Im a Boston fan myself (Red Sox and Patriots) but man Lebron is setting up to have a heck of a game tonight

Ugh. Ben Wallace is so worthless.

That was a horrid decision to get that guy. I live in Michigan like I said before so I watched Ben Wallace in his "prime" (if you can even call it that) and his game fell off faster than Brittany Spears panties when she sees a camera.

I like how the they cant even run a pick and roll with the guy as no one is dumb enough to guard him on anything that isnt 2 ft from the basket. He always reminded me of that out of shape guy at the courts. Barely making it up and down the court flailing around on his way to the basket. Doing 1 thing and 1 thing only. Failing at the game. The type of player that whenever you see him you simply shake your head in disgust.

I am excited for the Jazz laker game. Lets go Jazz!

EDIT: But I have to say that Ben is most likely the smartest player in the league. He knew for a fact that his game was well past his prime and that he couldnt even come close to playing at a NBA level. So he bounce out of Detroit riding his Fear the Fro promo's for a huge contract in Chi-town. He picked the perfect time to get out and keep all his money.

5 second violation coming off the timeout = fail.

Rondo: 20 points, 13 assists, 2 blocks, only 1 turnover.
Garnett: 26 points, 16 rebounds
Pierce: 29 points, 7 rebounds

The Celtics offense is 100 times better when Rondo gets these kinds of minutes. Their offense sucks when Sam Cassell is in the game.

Rondo was THE difference today. He's quickly becoming an elite point guard, not Chris Paul or anything but definitely top 10. And only in his 2nd year.

When Sam Casselle is on the court, I imagine a Mothership will abduct him :) (looks like an alien)

*sigh* I got home just in time to watch the Cavaliers loose the lead they had built. It's very disappointing. So Rondo hit some threes, you still need to guard him for the drive because that's how he gets his assists.

The jazz are just giving the game away.

Boozer is choking more than lebron every could.

You had chance after chance to take the lead and you blow it every time. The inside defense is getting sliced apart. Kobe not even taking a shot in the 4th and they still cant stop the lakers.

Utah could've had that game in the last 2 minutes, but they were so fixated on 3's when they didn't need to be. Letting Gasol get that offensive rebound after the stop was huge, too. Right through their fingers.

They finally went for the easy 2 after the game has already been decided.

Anyone else catch His Highness's press conference? He talked in the 3rd person more than Rickey Henderson... "a LeBron James team is never desperate." Even Sportscenter got a laugh out of that one.

Wow!!! :D

How about them Lakers! They sneaked out of there home with a win! With great poise and speed they beat the Utah Jazz. Every time there was a tie Utah could never get the lead.

I really hope the Lakers can close out this series in Utah.

Looks like Pau Gasol bounced back. He played a really good game, and pretty much saved us from losing.

I really hope the Lakers can finish this series at Utah on Friday.

Really hope so too....

Although I am getting alot of reason that this series might go to a Game 7 in LA.

Its really hard to win in Utah and sometimes the referee can be a fuck and call every little thing on the Lakers.

Please tell me i'm not the only one that saw that when Pau passed to Lamar Odom for a dunk, GOT A fuckIN' AND ONE WHEN NOBODY TOUCHED HIM?

Odom is driving down the lane, catches the ball at the free throw line, nobody touches him, and he dunks it. Refs call a foul.....really horrible call.

Add to the fact that, Pau cried at the end of the game when he pushed off of Okur for that dunk.

Yea, I also noticed that Odom didn't get any contact (They must have breathed on him ;)), so they got away with one there.

The one with Gasol at the end, I can't tell really, I saw Okur flailing and all, then the commentator said he was acting to try and draw a foul. When the camera cut to them, I just saw Okur already away from Gasol so I didn't see if it was a push-off or not.

All in all I'm relieved the Lakers won but their bench still didn't perform up-to-par, they should be glad the Jazz missed all those three point shots otherwise it might've been a different story. I was actually surprised the Jazz never took the lead with ALL the chances they had.

Robert horry with a cheap shot to the back.

And you people don't think Chris Paul didn't deserve MVP. Their coach is so god damn dumb. How many threes are you going to let up before you stop trying to double.
You think Bron carries the cav the hornets look like a pup team when Chris is not doing everything.

That was no where a cheap shot. Horry's arms were down and he gave a hard screen. You need to watch 80s and early 90s basketball with the Pistons and Celtics...the good ole' days of flagrant fouls being called hard fouls are over.

LeBron would have never survived in that era.

Have you even looked at anything I have said in this thead. I am the biggest fan of the hard foul era. The problem with that foul is this. One horry lowered his shoulder and leaned into him. So that is a foul. And I am pretty sure they called it. Also don't fool yourself in thinking that if that was Tim or Parker they would have been tossed out

But the most important thingn is this. The NBA needs to figure out what era they want to play in. Late in the third west was called for a foul for simply standing next to Tim. He didn't even raise his hand to go for the block.

Also there were four times that the refs let the spurs charge into the lane and even with pargo taking perfect charges they were not called.

Basically the problem is this. The NBA needs decide how hard they are going to let them play. 90 percent of the time they play this patty cake NBA where you get called for just looking at a player. Then when the refs get antsy they want to let calls go and hide behind a this is play off ball. Either call hard foils or don't buy you can't switch back and forth every other minute.

Sorry but I do admit that I do not read every post in the thread...especially anything about Lakers.

Like no one leans into screens. No one stands straight up like a statue on screens, just the way it is. And yes, that Horry foul was called. Who knows if Duncan/Parker sustained that injury, then the other player would be tossed out.
You just have to deal with what really happened, not what ifs.

There were horrible calls in the Lakers/Jazz games also. It just feels like if the refs are giving home teams victories this year (except for the Denver garbage)....the reason for the home records (only one home loss so far).
This is going to be a pattern and we will see game 7s every round, which is good but not at the cost of tolerating weak foul calls at criticial times of the games.

I agree fully. It seems like the refs are taking over the games. Completely taking over the play offs and the way the game flow. I would love to see how many fouls the home teams are getting.

like I said I love the hard play but it has to be called both ways.toward the end of each game the fouls necome unreal. For all teams I hate the spurs but Parker was getting killed the game before.

That was a hard foul, but Horry knew what he was doing, the ball went up in the air, West went up to catch it, Horry didn't go for the ball, he just landed his shoulder in West's already injured back.

You know it just like Bruce knows what he is doing when he sticks his foot under players as they shoot.

I mean honestly horry sets a pick for a guy who is already shooting a jump shot. A guy not even looking to guard the shooter. Horry who already had position to get the rebound decides he would rather shoulder charge a guy in the back.

I just don't under stand why the spurs are allowed to go after other players with the intent to actually hurt them so much. This happens in every play off series the spurs play. Yet every one goes crazy if lebron gets a hang nail.

Eddie House ASU Alum baby.

Really horrible 1st quarter offensively for both teams...watching this reminds me of last year NJ vs CLE and it was like Game 5 I think, and they scored a total of 11 points in the 4th?

LeBron should get an Oscar for his performance tonight... Almost all of his points are from the line.

LeBron has 11 free throw attempts. The Celtics have FIVE. This is ridiculous.

He's attacking the lane, you ever sit down and wonder, how can you as a defender stop a 250 lb grown man?

Boston is lucky that West didn't go to the line for a 4 point play, he got fouled.

And when the Celtics go to the paint, they get hacked and smacked around and nothing is called.

Welcome to the NBA! Haven't we met?
And when the Celtics go to the paint, they get hacked and smacked around and nothing is called.
Kevin Garnett hasn't had more than 3 FT attempts in any game in this series. That has nothing to do with officials, the Celtics have had the FTA lead in 2 of the 5 games in the series. That has to do with the style of play KG and the rest of the Celtics have.

Paul Pierce is the one guy the Celtics have that can take it to the hole like LeBron and draw fouls but he hasn't done it in every game this series.
LMFAO, you guys notice how lebron and chris paul travels so much?
Now that much with LeBron I agree with. He does get away with an assload of traveling, but then almost everyone in the NBA does.

LeBron does travel, but what you see is traveling actually isn't.

LeBron like a lot of NBA players, take a huge step when the ball is in the midst of being bounced back into their hand. Watch Kobe, LeBron, Wade, Melo, etc; their first step is always their biggest.

In EuroLeagues this is called traveling but in the NBA they don't call that first step when the ball is not in the hand of the player.

Typing from a cell phone kinds sucks.

56 points in the fourth. Wow.

This years play odds barley seem like play odds at all. Everyone is getting blown out at home. We all knew that refs favored home teams and superstars but its like they are not even trying to hide it this year.

Cavs really need to learn how to make plays without bron.

By the way do they not call moving screens anymore.

I am reminded of the spurs game when Tim was following Chris Paul around setting the longest pick I have every seen.

Kevin just did the same thing kinds following a person around setting a pick.
BRUTAL offensive foul called against Pierce... Horrible, horrible call.
Areed it didn't make any sense. Defende is moving. Bottom line it can't be a charge unless the offensive player is out of control. Which he wasn't.
