The Official 2007/2008 NBA thread

These officials can blow me... First they call a horrible goaltend on KG, then Allen gets whacked twice on the other end with no call.

Doesn't help that the Celtics can't make a stop right now.

The Celtics might be able to steal one on the road, their best chance is Game 4, Game 3 the Pistons will win, and get comfortable and not 'flip the switch' and Boston might be able to steal one. They need the Big 3 all to come together for one dominating effort, tonight was mostly Allen and KG.

What 3 are you referring to?
Pierce, Garnett, and Allen all were in double digits. Allen got the highlight because he was able to break his scoring slump, KG and Pierce were doing their jobs respectively. The Pistons were just fighting back and kept answering back whenever the Celtics made a push, especially at the end. If the Pistons had missed any ONE of those jump shots near the end, it probably would've been a different outcome.

If anything, Rondo could've contributed more.

I was referring to Pierce, Garnett, Allen. Yes, Pierce dropped 25? But it seemed like he just wasn't taking the game over like he was before. It's good to see the balance, but the whole game I felt that KG and Pierce kept saying to themselves "Gotta get Allen going". IMO, if Pierce takes over the game, the Celtics take it.

I kinda thought the same thing, it's just that they sacrificed a bit too much to get him going again, but maybe they're looking at the bigger picture and want to get the whole unit running in time for the Championship Finals, they probably feel like if they can get the whole team running at full speed, nothing can stop them (and that just might be the case).
Pistons however, have shown they can compete and their defense is looking pretty good so far, but even with the Celtics shooting at a pretty low percentage, they still gave up a lot of points. Piston games are usually slow, low-scoring games :p
huh sasha did a great job in gino
and hes extremely important to the bench along with ronny
also hey star players need a bench behind them which is why the lakers insane bench is so important
i hope we resign him and ronny :applause:
I agree.
Which Spurs have you been reading about? I thought they've been flop-city for years.
 Also true.

Celtics don't deserve a championship. Yeah I said it. If you can't win a fucking road game you don't deserve a title. Plain and simple.

Glad to see Sheed FINALLY show up in the second half. Shot lights out $$$$a.

The only person I really dislike is Kevin Garnett. Paul Pierce is clutch but fat, and I like Ray Allen. But c'mon. Best record during the regular season, and you can't win on the road? Not even against ATLANTA?

You gotta be kidding me. That was clearly a goaltending from the replay. I don't think its going to be Lakers vs Celtics. I bet it'll be Spurs vs Pistons rematch. I think Pistons will beat Celtics in 6.

Ray Allen's effectiveness was limited by the fouls he picked up before he started hitting his shots, his minutes were cut way shorter than they would've been.

The Celtics didn't play very well on D, got nothing out of their bench, and were still in the game. Their bench scored 8 points, and they still scored 97 points.

The Pistons won because they were grabbing a lot of offensive rebounds in the 2nd half, they nailed 3 straight 3's after the Celtics made their run in the 3rd quarter, and because the Celtics were taking stupid fouls and getting them to the line. This series will be close, but I'm certainly not fearful at this point. I'd be more concerned if they figured out how to stop the Celtics from scoring, but they haven't.

By the way, if thats a goaltend then shotblocking in the NBA is completely illegal. If that ball is already on its "downward flight" by the time Garnett touches it, it has no chance of hitting the rim anyway, and by definition it isn't goaltending.

I thought that was a ridiculous call too, and I'm a Pistons fan. But if you watched the replay, it was a really tough call. I thought Garnett blocked it right on Tayshaun's release, but didn't seem so in the replay. It could've gone either way.

Also, the Celtics have an extremely tough hill to climb now. They've held opponents on average to 79 points while at home in the playoffs. Pistons walk in and dump 103 on them. Also the big 3 score 75 points at home, and the Celtics shot 56% in the 2nd half at home and still lose. The Pistons may not have found a way to stop them from scoring, but they pretty much answered everything the Celtics dished out.

I thought the Pistons played the best that they possibly could defensively, it seemed like every shot the Celtics took was contested, but they still scored 97 points. Conversely, I thought the Celtics played their worst defensive game of the playoffs.

I think the Celtics come back to Boston tied 2-2, and it'll probably go 7 games again.

By the way, I'd kill to only have to pay Detroit prices for tickets. They're being scalped for around $30, and there are very few tickets here under $100, even at face value.

How in the world do you know that? o_O

Even on eBay there are several buy-it-now's under $100 for a pair, in Detroit.

In Boston, there are three rows in one section that cost $24, which are never actually available to the general public. The rest of the balcony goes for $81 and $111, face. I almost bought a single ticket for $81, which was row 14 in the balcony behind the net. If there were two of those available side by side, I'd have bought them. Face value! I'm surprised the crowd still makes the noise that it does when the real fans are priced out of the building.
Baron Davis to Knicks?

MAKE IT HAPPEN MULLIN, DAVIS FOR MARBURY + #6 PICK
I would take that in a heartbeat. Anything to get rid of Marbury.
I would take that in a heartbeat. Anything to get rid of Marbury.
I'd take it from the Warriors angle, shit's all speculation now, mostly comes down to Baron wants a new contract, but the dude's 29. I love Baron, and it'd be tough to see him go, but if he wants the ridiculous contract (5/75) which is being reported, then let the Knicks get him.

I'd rather have Baron gets a Steve Nash contract which would be like 3 years at 8-9 mil a piece, which I doubt he'll take. If we trade Baron and get that deal, i'd do it. Draft Mayo/Gallarni/Gordon at #6, then at #14 take Rush/Westbrook/Lopez.

If I had to guess i'd say 99% Baron is a Warrior in 08-09

all right, what the hell is a loose ball foul?

I just saw Gasol go up for a rebound and he gets called for a loose ball foul

?:/

That's probably the only foul I've never understood
Wikipedia is your friend.
I only had enough time to make that post, buzy watching the game to look stuff up, b/c then I get sidetracked, it always happens to me ;)

and yes, that was an awesome block by Farmar, hopefully he can get going this series, that'd be a big help.

much better
though i wanna see ariza come in
its nice that farmar might actually be useful again

also the machine BETTER be resigned that and were doing this WITHOUT BYNUM :hot:
The Spurs are dead.
Don't start saying that garbage again please. This is the same crap people were saying when they went 0-2 against the Hornets. Whether or not you think the Lakers or the Hornets are a better team is a separate discussion. I DESPISE the Spurs as much as anyone else, but to discount them so quickly is foolish.

This series will go at least 6 if not 7.

While the Lakers were dominating, I was surprised to see Pops give up with nine minutes left. Maybe he saw something in his players, but I guess he was out of options or something.

It was nice to see bench vs. bench though, pretty entertaining. They should've given it to Ariza a lot more though, he needs to get back into the groove.

Oh yea, Turiaf is still funny as ever, did you catch what he was saying/singing during the mic'd up clip? Gasol looks like a bum, dude needs to shave or something, it's like they got him from an alley and said, "hey dude, I'll give you $50 to be the 5th man". I'm not referring to his performance but how he looks . He does need to pick up his game though, he should be fighting for more of those rebounds, Odom and Bryant are the only ones I see jumping up and fighting for them.

Lakers really put a beating on the Spurs, but I don't wanna say much unless they can take a win in San Antonio. Home is one thing, but playing on the road is another, and I hope everyone has the same mentality as Odom and Bryant. Other than that, Go Lakers! :twoguns:

Almost forgot, this is for Vujacic
:robot:
So he's always like that? :/

Btw, I think Farmar is back in business :D
yep
last time he did it was when we stomped on them during the regular season with ginobli out

They were dead in that game, nothing more was intended or implied. Though I think it'll be Lakers in 5.

Wow! How about them Lakers again!!!!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

That game was played really well by the Lakers. The Machine aka Sasha and Jordan finally reappeared and contributed very well also.

I was a little surprised that Trevor Ariza came into the game and scored his 2. He looks healthy out there and ready to play in game 3 when needed!

Good Job Lakers and nice win. I hope this series can end in 6. I really wanna see the Spurs done and fishing in 6.

Go Lakers!!!! \\:D/\\:D/\\:D/

The reason the Spurs are dead is because Kobe Bryant is Kobe Bryant.

It's as simple as that.
Is that Kim Jong-il sitting a couple seats down from Jack Nicholson courtside?
I'm glad I wasn't the only person to notice that. I was too busy trying to decide if it was a dude or chick. He/She never seemed to move the entire game and held that pose every time the camera was on him/her.
The Spurs are dead.
Same thing I can say for the Celtics since they can't win a road game.
Pistons in 6.

Just to spite you I hope the Spurs take the next three. And the Celtics still in 6

Even though the spite won't work, since you're a Spurs fan. :p

The Celtics are undefeated in Detroit this season (1 for 1). I bet they get the split and come back to Boston at 2-2.

sorry for quoting an old post, but that was definitely a goal tend...at first it looked clean cuz i wasn't as attentive on the ball's actual movement, but after the replay it was definitely going downtown charlie brown

anyway, i like the idea of KG gettin a championship but i'd rather the pistons make another run for a championship before they get too old...plus i like the pistons as a team...i don't know why but they are fun for me to watch even though they are kind of slow and methodical...it just seems to perfect for a team to get about 25 wins one season then make it to the finals the next...seems unreal

anyway, i say lakers in 6, pistons in 6, then lakers in 7 in finals
