Thanks, I will look into that! I live in fear that my mother will fall behind in her storage locker payments because all my toys from the 80's/90's are in there. I live 2000 miles away from her so retrieving them atm is not an option.JFJ Easy Pro. That little machine has saved so many games, CDs, and movies for me. It's less than $150 and will work for many scratched discs (though gamecube and wii seem to have the most trouble reading a buffed disc).
Hamill & McDowell actually both started with Wing Commander 3, the first of the last 3 mainline WC games to go FMV. Hamill played your character, Christopher "Maverick" Blair while McDowell played Admiral Tolwyn.Finds 9-6-14
Time to jump into the time machine.
Found Super Mario World, Contra III, Wing Commander IV and The Air War in Europe in the middle of the day in a vendors dump bin for $0.25 each. They were mixed in with rusty old tools and other stuff you would expect to see in the garbage. Breath of Fire and Dino Crisis were $1 each from the same place. Yes, that is Mark Hamill and Malcolm McDowell in Wing Commander.

I live in fear because she's forgetful and disorganized, not because she can't afford it. My stuff is a pretty small percentage of what's in there.Should you just start paying for her storage unit then?
hmmm. I think I have a couple copies brand new on xbox. I think I bought them back in the day for .97 when Sears used to have cheap games.Fun fact I learned earlier this year: NFL Street Vol. 2 is actually a little uncommon and is worth about $20.
If the SNES and game works I'd say decent.I got a snes with a copy of killer instinct for $20. How did I do yard sale peeps?
I picked it up because I thought the artwork was great. The resale value was a pleasant surprise, considering I paid a little under two dollars for it. It'll probably remain in the collection at this point - I don't think I own a second copy.Fun fact I learned earlier this year: NFL Street Vol. 2 is actually a little uncommon and is worth about $20.
This is why I always double check the values on sports games and/or have a mental list of some of the less common ones. You can make a nice tidy profit from finds at yard sales/thrift stores since most people instinctively pass them up.Fun fact I learned earlier this year: NFL Street Vol. 2 is actually a little uncommon and is worth about $20.
Dude, so jealous. Great finds!image.jpg
Was an awesome day to be the day when everyone and their Mom goes yard sailing. I missed the GameCube generation so I had some goals this year of finding some classic GameCube games..today delivered.
Got the Zelda Collectors Edition, RE 4 and Tekken 4 for $1 each. Day complete right here..very happy.
Next found the N64 and WCW/NWO for $6. She said they had a ton of n64 games but couldn't find them. Left my number and tried to be friendly, so here's hoping. Then found Pilotwings64 by itself for $1 on a random table.
Finally almost near the end of the day I saw some Ps2 games and asked if they had anything else. He mentioned he had a ton of GameCube stuff that he didn't bring out. So I wait for him to grab it and almost crapped my pants when he walked out with a stack of 20 games. 10 were PS2 war games and 10 GameCube games. I passed on Britney Spears' dance beat..but got Double Dash, Sunshine, Animal Crossing and Warioware for $5 each. Everything complete excep Warioware with no manual.
Great day!!
i've seen Chuggaconroy's youtube vids on animal crossing and from those, i can get the appeal of the game and if it came down to it, i probably would like it, just im also the kind of person that can't really play a game without an end or a point where it becomes obvious ive done everything the game has to offer. animal crossing feels like the kind of game that i can never truly beat so i lack some desire to play it. ill give it a shot inbetween of games though when i feel theres just too much going on.Despite not appearing as such, Animal Crossing is actually a lot of fun. If you've never played an AC game you should give it a shot. It looks like a game for babies but like half of my office was addicted to it at release and we're all grown men.
I'm more concerned about filth. Rusty stuff, needles, animals, etc.I am intrigued by the idea of buying storage units but the initial cost is so high (or so it seems to me) and I have an irrational fear of finding a dead body buried underneath the debris.
One thing to remember is those who hold garage sales would like (for the most part, except those who do it as a business) to get rid of those stuff lying around their house that they no longer need. So, if you scan their items first or grabbing items that you like as you go, it's good for them and would most likely sell them to you at your price or a lower price than tagged.I'm fine with scanning, but like others have said, it shouldn't be relied upon exclusively. It takes some time to find, but many things have patterns and hints at value, and once they're learned it's easier to make educated guesses. With records, it could be labels or years, with games it could be publishers, assumed genre, etc...
With game guides, NO IDEA. I still haven't cracked that one. Guides I think would be worth more aren't, and guides I wouldn't look twice at are.
As for being discreet with a scanner... If I use mine (which has been broken for months now) I usually let the seller know what I'm up to and ask if they mind. Most people having yard sales know there are resellers out there. If I find something worth paying their asking price, I don't haggle (and have offered more a few times... like when I got a complete Suikoden II.. I told the lady it was worth a lot more than $1, she said, "ok, pay $2" lol).
