The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!
Hmmm dumb question maybe but what does CiF stand for?
It means "Cost, Insurance, Freight" which takes into account your time, your travel expenses, etc.

It's short for "I need to make up excuses to try and rob you just a tad bit more." Haggling is one thing but CIF'ing is bordering on sleazy. Just say that you're not looking to pay the price they're asking.

Hell, that's how I get most of my sales actually. Unless a deal is too good to risk messing it up (that guy offering a GC bundle with everything noteable short of Ikaruga a few months back), I always half their offer first. If they're serious about getting rid of it but have no buyers, it's usually yours by the end of the week.
It means "Cost, Insurance, Freight" which takes into account your time, your travel expenses, etc.
...What? It means "Cash In Face". I probably wouldn't use it for a craigslist pickup, but it's pretty handy for yard sales. Basically, if you show people the money, they're more likely to take a lowball offer.
Hmmm dumb question maybe but what does CiF stand for?
Cash in Face - check out the Yard Sale Thread at the top section of the Deal/Shopping Discussion and Bragging Rights section for more details. It works WONDERS.

Just got a $10 PS2... Has disc read errors, I'm gonna crack it open and fix it. Only came with a power cord, though.

Edit: And the PS2 had GTA:VC in it, that's kinda neat I guess. Wonder if they want it back?
Oh wow, didn't know there was another definition for CiF.
No worries. It is a great method of getting lowball offers accepted because the sight of the cash, particularly being waved in the seller's face, has a great psychological effect.
$40
Platinum Gamecube w/Platinum Controller
Extra Platinum Controller
Extra Black Controller
K-Mart Metroid Prime/Wavebird Combo (No Box but Metroid is complete)
Zelda: Wind Waker (Complete)
Mario Kart Double Dash (Complete)
Spyro: Enter the DragonFly (Disc Only)

$10
Mario Party 6 with Microphone
See? This is a deal worth bragging about.

Its like you paid normal price for the controllers and got the games and system gratis...like the GameCube I bought from Goodwill for $10 just for the controller.

Cash in Face, got it.

Dunno if I'd ever have the guts to do it on a craigslist pickup though. :p

Picked up a few good deals recently, including:

6 PS2 games for $30:
Spartan Total Warrior
God of War
Resident Evil 4
X-Men Legends 2
NBA 07
Metal Gear Solid 2 SOL (disc only)

DS lite with 6 games for $70 (I just traded in the 2 least valuable ones to Gamestop for $17 credit)

Damn those are good deals indeed. The DS Lite with 6 games for $70...wow, that is spectacular.

I am SO glad I took a look at CL games n toys before I left work yesterday...some guy had listed "PS1 RPGs" listed with just a phone number, "all for $50" (great description, I know), and location listed as being right on the way home (gave the cross streets only).

I called him up and asked what he had.

Oh, nothing major, just FF7 complete (GH), FF Tactics complete (GH), and Valkyrie Profile complete.

Told him I would meet him at the 7-11 close by to his location in 5 minutes.

The discs, manuals, and inserts were flawless. The CD jewel cases, not so much - cracks here and there, and sticker residue. I offered him $40 for all 3, take it or leave it but he wanted $50 firm, so I countered with "$45 is all I have on me". He took it.

I took them home, triple checked the discs, cleaned the cases with Goo Gone and whatnot, and replaced the various jewel case pieces for Valkyrie Profile since that beauty is going into my collection. The other 2 are probably going on eBay, or maybe on the tradelist...haven't decided yet.

Eventually I will have a big ass update for my tradelist with a lot of these scores, but I just don't have the time for the next month or so.
i cant find shit in my area even worth mentioning and i have typed in everything and nothing comes up any tips?
What area?

The largest cities, or at least the most technologically reliant have the most activity I've noticed. So you will get a lot more listings in NYC, SF, LA etc. than you will in the Dakotas or Idaho or what have you.

But then, you also get a LOT more competition to buy the stuff especially the cheap and major scores, and LA is HUGE so it's often not worthwhile since the item is in the Valley or Pasadena or even OC.

Just check into it at least once a day, more depending upon how many listings the section gets.
new hampshire but i have even done all of mass so
Damn, that's crazy. But I think snotknocker is in your neck of the woods, at least in Massachusetts I believe and it looks like he's cleaning up everything before you get a chance to, hahaha. You should check out his scores in the Yard Sale thread...unbelievable, along with moeity's and moeity's partner.

While $200 is more than I would have liked to pay, being an NES collector owning over 300 games and finding out I don't own half of these, I jumped on it. I can easily sell the ones I already have and get at least most of my money back.

Quick question, are these good deals?

a N64 with a green controller, a yellow controller and the following games:
Paper Mario
Conker
Wave Runner
Donkey Kong
Diddy Kong Racing
Excite Bike
for 80$ I know it's not a steal by any stretch, but I was looking on ebay, and figured with conker and Paper mario all the games were worth about 50 bucks... I may offer 50, what does everyone think?

Also, I've stumbled upon a guy with an overpriced ps2 with some games but there are only two I'm interested in. How much should I over for them?

Naruto: Uzumaki Chronicles & Way of the Samurai

Just when I was beginning to think I wouldn't find anymore worthwhile deals on Craigslist, I found a deal posted today. I didn't waste time jumping on it.

If you have trouble seeing the pics, here is the list. All are COMPLETE (except for Super Mario World). Even the SNES includes the box!

Super Nintendo system w/ controllers and cables
Super Mario world (cart and sleeve only)
Final Fantasy II
Final Fantasy III
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Super Metroid
Tecmo Superbowl III
Spiderman Xmen arcade revenge
Mortal Kombat
Sim City
Super Punch out
Out of this world
NBA 95
Tecmo super Baseball
Flashback
Stanley cup
Might and magic III
Ultima the black gate
Saturday night Slammasters
Romance of the three kingdoms II
Lord of Darkness
Ultima the false prophet
Alien 3

Total = $65

I was getting really anxious as I waited the 3 hours to get off of work so I could go race to pick up the loot.

The last time I had a lead on a decent Craigslist deal, some jerk actually emailed the seller and told her that the games she was selling was worth a lot more than what she was asking. Seriously, why would someone actually do that? Isn't the reason most people check out Craigslist is with the hope of finding a good deal? What is the point of ruining that for another person? That seller ended up jacking up the price, so I missed out. I was worried something like that might happen again. Thankfully, it didn't.

See, I'm the type of person to do that kinda thing, so asshats don't come in and say 'well, your price is $xx.xx, I'll give you....' and then super lowball the person even further. I've had too many idiots tell me 'I could get that computer for cheaper online' when responding to an ad I posted which says FIRM and I'm just sick of jerkoffs who think ANY ad price is negotiable.

If an ad says o.b.o., THEN it may be negotiable, but if it has FIRM in the ad, that means THAT'S the price. Don't like it, DON'T RESPOND THEN!! I've just straight away HUNG UP on people who think this is The Price Is Right and they can bid whatever THEY wanna pay for my stuff.

As for the seller who upped the price, good for them. They took the initiative and actually reversed their erroneous ad before they stupidly sold it cheap, since I've found that MANY buyers on CL are Ebay assholes, who are gonna try and flip that stuff online for as much as they can get after getting a super deal from an idiot.

I will say one thing though, NO ONE has responded to my local paper ad for a NIB Gamecube for $65 and those who have said 'GAMES' with it. So, for them, reading comprehension FTL, since my GC is system and a used memory card ONLY. I'm definitely not out here to LOSE money on what I paid or if I do, VERY LITTLE money.

Ahhhh well.....good luck, but I hope whenever someone posts something that's phenomenal and cheap, someone else will come along to educate them in the proper price for it......

If you were actually interested what was being offered yourself and thought it was a steal, would you actually contact the seller and say "Hey, I'm interested in what you're selling, but you're pricing it way too low. You should raise the price by $50 bucks. At the new price though, it's more than I'm willing to pay, but at least you're asking a fair price." I'm sure most people aren't going to do that if it means screwing themselves out of the deal. If you are, you're a better man than I, but I don't think that makes me a dishonest person.

Besides, if it's posted on Craigslist, the seller has access to the internet. It only takes a few minutes to do even bare minimum of research to get a better idea of the value of what you're selling. If they're not willing to put in the effort, I don't think it should be anybody else's responsibility to educate them. I could see it being a different story if it's a newspaper ad or some other form of off-line selling though. Still, you don't really see that kind of thing going on at garage sales and flea markets.

In the instance where the guy emailed the seller I was talking to, the lot included a Super Mario All-Stars, but cart only. The guy told the seller it was worth at least $40 bucks, which is not entirely accurate since it was cart only. So not only did the guy screw other people out of a good deal, he did it with poor information.

These deals looks AWESOME from what I can tell but the ad is way too campy.

Here's what you get:
 • Original NES system
 • AC adapter
 • Two original controllers
 • One wireless aftermarket controller (still looking for the receiver for this..)
 • Light gun
 • A pile of original game manuals
But here's the cool part. You also get 29 of the best games:
 • Archon
 • Bard's Tale
 • Baseball
 • Battle of lympus
 • Battletoads (somehow I have two copies of this)
 • Bubble obble
 • California Games
 • Donkey Kong
 • Double Dragon
 • Duck Hunt
 • Final Fantasy
 • Godzilla
 • Mach ider
 • Mega Man 2
 • Mega Man 3
 • Metroid
 • Ninja aiden
 • Rad Racer
 • Rampage
 • Rescue Rangers
 • Skate or ie 2
 • Super Mario Bros
 • Super Mario Bros 2
 • Super Mario ros3
 • Top Gun
 • Ultima
 • Win, Lose, or Draw (as awesome as it sounds)
 • Zelda
 • Zelda II: Adventure of Link
Condition:
A few years ago, I replaced the internal connector in the NES (the part that the games slide into). This took the system from non-functional to fairly functional. What I mean is you have to do the usual blow-on-the-cartridge, gently-insert, and burnt-offering-to-the-nintendo-gods to get the games to play. But they usually do play after a few tries. :) I tested it tonight with Ninja Gaiden and had it playable within 30 seconds.

Putting together a collection this good via Gamestop or similar would probably cost closer to $100. I'm asking $60, but offers will be considered.

If I'm interested in it, my mouth is staying shut. If I'm not then why not help somebody out?

Very nice CS_Mike.

I was just wondering when you say complete does that even mean all of the maps for the RPGs? I know I once was lucky enough to find Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy III & Secret of Mana (almost) complete at a yardsale but each of them was at least missing 1 map or something of the likes.

Surprisingly, all maps are included. I haven't gone through all of the games to find out what each one should include, but I know all of the Square games still have the necessary maps. Seems as if the only things that were thrown away were the garbage inserts that are always included with games. All of the manuals and maps seem to have been kept.

The only exception is Saturday Night Slammasters, which was a former rental game. Only box and game are included with that one.

AWSOME score. I can't begin to imagine the selling value of those games:applause:

There's a reason he's selling it for such a strange amount ($55?)

They're either scratched to hell, he doesn't want to bother with E-Bay (bad feedback? no feedback?), or he's hoping to make the net E-Bay price on them (after shipping, fees, etc.)

no manual for Saturday Night Slammasters??? oh man you got totally screwed. tell you what, i'll give you what you paid for the lot so that you can somehow come out of this breaking even. i'll even throw in shipping.

I hate that shit. I let that happen once and after the sale I was like wtf, why would someone answer an ad that had the price listed and then show up with less. I swore I would never sell to anyone who tries that.

Often people are vague when it comes to listings. If I get there and the items are filthy or damaged it's bargaining time. Plus it has the advantage of throwing people offguard like you said.

I'm probably going to flip that GBA with Goku on eBay, along with MP 5 and most of the Cube games; keep the Sonic stuff and Metroid and some N64 games, along with the rare Pikachu N64 and black GC...gotta have something for that GBA player ;D

The GBA alone should probably pay for the lot, or at least most of it.

Maybe not the greatest find, but it was my first find off Craigslist.com

Zelda: Link to the Past (SNES)
Donkey Kong Country 3 (SNES)

$10

Got a new in the box white DS lite for 60 bucks. Guy said that comcast sent him two and that he thought he would craigslist the second for cheap. Also Got Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow for 10 bucks and a local store... need to stock up on some games now.

Is there ever a time on craigslist where a deal seems to good to be true? How can you tell if they are a scam?

I was thinking about getting a 360 for $300 flat.
