The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

Okay, here are some shots of my greatest craigslist score ever, from yesterday. Hell, I think it may be up there with my greatest score ever (it will be if the lady can find the game cases), when I bought a ton of old comics in very fine or better shape for a dime a piece at a swapmeet when I was a kid, including huge runs of key X-Men (early 100's through the 140's, the famous Claremont run) and Daredevil (the first Frank Miller run). Of course, they weren't super valuable at the time, but have turned out to be quite a deal now.

Anyway, here are some pics of the contents of the CD case. I haven't counted the slots yet but I think it holds at least 200 CD's, and is almost entirely full of games (and almost all good games from what I've seen). And the ones I've looked at so far are in excellent condition - no scratches, stickers, etc. The worst part, besides the fact that they are all disc only, is that there are spaces here and there where games may be missing in a series, most notably the .Hack series is missing 2 or 3 of the 7 games. I.e. she probably still has those games somewhere.

The lady is going to look for the cases and other "gaming discs or tapes" this week. Got my fingers crossed.

I haven't taken a full inventory, but for $100, I think this was well worth it...here are some of the highlights. There's also every Suikoden except for #1.

Goodness gracious karkyco. That is one of the best deals I've ever seen period. You could not buy another game for 10 years and still not play through all those. And the part about most of them being good games...every game I just saw a photo of is quality. I am just a little bit jealous.

Lucky bastard/I hate you/give me Lunar 2 Eternal Blue Complete/gratz

No seriously, I never finished that one. Give.

Thanks guys. As for all the pics being quality games, well I wanted to show you guys the good stuff and not bore you with the crap. There's a bunch of greatest hits PS2 games that aren't quite so fabulous, like the Lord of the Rings games, all the GTA games, and a bunch of forgetables...there's some game I've never heard of called Fugitive Hunter, for example, where you hunt Osama bin Laden.

But there's also stuff like God of War 1 and 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, and a bunch of other RPGs I didn't even put pics of.

Someone in the yard sale topic said I "paid what it's worth". I think I did a lot better than that, considering what I got. No Ogre Battle or Tactics though, sad about that. Or Persona 1/2, Suikoden 1, and a bunch of others. But not bad at all.

I think the only PS1 games in there that I didn't take pictures of are Metal Slug X, Tomb Raider 1 and 2, and Syphon Filter 1 and 2. There's a ton of PS2 stuff I didn't bother taking pics of, I just got tired of it (that's why I just started taking shots of 8 discs at once at the end). There's definitely at least 100 games in the case, so at no worse than $1 per game, I think I did pretty good.

Georox, sorry my friend. These are all going to be thoroughly tested by me. There are some extras from ones I already have, but I won't be updating any time soon.

Damn. Sweet deal. If only they included the case + manual then it would be truly epic.
Just found Xenogears, Final Fantasy IX, and Final Fantasy VII for a buck. Would take advantage, but I live a bit too far from the area it's in.

If you live near New Port Richey, here you go: http://tampa.craigslist.org/tag/708839348.html
they're not really a dollar. idiot sellers just throw "$1" into the price field in order to post. there's a lot of used game stores near me that make posts like this too. in fact, they'll go even further and put a price that almost sounds real, like "Final Fantasy VII PSX - $7"... then when you click thru or call they tell you that's their lowest price on general stuff and that FFVII is really $37 (or whatever).

Recently got a PS3 60gb with 2 controllers and 6 games for $275. I just sold 3 of the games and a sixaxis (orderd a dual shock 3) to make the total $165.

the guy originally asked $350 and I talked him down. I love CL.

You stand corrected, unlimited saga is in one of the pictures, that games is probably the worst game ever, i bought it at a going out of business rental place and it wasnt worth the 5 bucks.

LOL, yeah, like I said there are some stinkers. I didn't do the original organizing/arranging (it starts with the PS1 games - FF Tactics and FF7) and it's still in the order I found them.

Holy crap. That has Suikoden II in there. Me wants. :(

Awesome find, I wish I could find deals like that in this area. It seems the only thing for video games around here is a "Wii with 5 games (i.e. WiiSports) for only $500".
Someone in the yard sale topic said I "paid what it's worth". I think I did a lot better than that, considering what I got.
They must have some really high (low?) stardards in being a cheap ass or not realize what you had. Hell if you were to put just the Suikoden II & Valkyrie Profiles up in 2 seperate auctions on eBay and start them at .01 I'm sure they would get bid up high enough that you would make more then the $100 you spent on the whole bundle.

Edit - either that or they were being sarcastic :)
The fact that that guy had all those games and yet kept them in a CD binder makes me sad.
Well, its what I did on college and something a friend of mine does to save space with games and DVDs -- discs in a binder, cases/manuals boxed and in the attic.

That was quite a haul...now, if she finds the cases and boxes, everyone will hate you :D

Dammit all, Zache. I've got family in NPR but none that can make it down there, and I won't be visiting for at least a month.

I'm definitely going to have to hit that place up, though. I love that flea market, its good to see an awesome gaming store (as opposed to the old one that had crazy high prices).

A lady had a posting for a SNES with 5 games for $15 and a Genesis with 13 games for $20, I offered $30 for all and she took it. Here's what I got:
cl1.jpg

Super Nintendo w/1 regular controller and 1 SN Propad
Super Mario Kart
Super Pinball Behind the Mask
Super Mario World
Yoshi's Island
Full Throttle

Model 2 Genesis w/1 regular controller and 1 Propad 6
Genesis 6 Pak
Sonic 2
Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat II
Fatal Fury
Beavis and Butthead
Caesar's Palace
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition

A pretty good pickup in my own opinion as my SNES and Genesis collections are weak at best

I keep my games in a CD binder. It makes it so much easier to carry it all to friend's house, especially with the massive amount I have. I'll take the small hairline scratches if it means easy mobility.

Just completed my first craigslist deal :)

Picked up an angelic dreamcast with 1 controller and all cords (tested to see if it worked and it did) for 5 bucks, asked for 10, countered with 5 and took it.

I'm happy, now I have a backup dreamcast :)

(im sure there is no need for pictures, youve all seen dreamcasts before)

Really me again?

Picked up:
Front Mission 3
Chrono Cross
Vandal Hearts
2 dual shocks
Memory card
Slim PSone

Total $8.00

Apparently the person already had a buyer and backed out (higher offer then mine heh) and sold it to me :) I'm happy I've always wanted to play Chrono Cross

Damn. That is one fine deal. Super duper deal.

Got my first big haul from Craigslist today:

All for $40!!!

The following are PS1 games, disc only:
Cardinal Syn
Olympic Soccer
Defcon 5
Spawn the Eternal
Micro Machines V3
Ball Breakers
Ball Blazer
Metal Gear Solid (Disc 2)
WWF Smack Down
Driver 2 (2 disc 2's ???)
Gran Turismo 2
Mega man 8 :D
Twisted Metal III
Tekken 2
Final Fantasy VII :D
Ehrgeiz :D

and the following complete games:
Klonoa 2 (PS2) :D
NFL Gameday (long case)
Command & Conquer :D
Command & Conquer: Red Alert :D
Command & Conquer: Red Alert Retaliation :D
Spiderman
Madden '97
Cart World Series

I'm keeping Ehrgeiz, FFVII, and a couple of the PS1 titles. Missed out on a disc-only Resident Evil 2, some guy had called specifically about that one and he held it for him. Almost missed the FFVII, but I CIF'd (fuck yeah!) him $40 and he bit. On the way out he was talking about a modded Xbox for $600 . Drove across town for this, but I'm positive had I not got there first, I would have missed out on all the PS1 titles.

...my photobucket account is down right now, I'll try to get pics up later.

Found this bundle and am picking it up today, what would you pay for all this? Obviously I don't want all the games so keep in mind the gamestop trade 2 bonus or just trading some in the forum here. I guess I don't want to know what you would pay but what do you think is a good price? These are all 360 games.

That's not too bad. I would have gone for $100 max, because there are just a lot of sports games. But you will make out if you sell them individually or on the bonus trade deal.

Yea I want tiger 08 and nhl 07 probably fight night as well. Gears trades decent in the trading forum and same for the controller. I have gh2 & 3 games with 2 wired guitars. Figure sell the game and a wired guitar pretty easy. I didn't try and lowball too much because I figured what I could get for the stuff just trading at gamestop and if all I keep is the gh3 and wireless controller I figured they come to 40 bucks total. Now the guy needs to call me back to tell me where to meet and pick it up.

So i found a guy that is willing to sell me The Godfather: Don's Edition for PS3 for $10 (obviously i would check out the condition it is in) he originally wanted $15. SHould i go for it guys? (just got a PS3 and looking for some cheap games to play after MGS4)

The Godfather is a pretty solid game. If I was looking to buy, I'd probably bite on that.

If anyone is in the Albany/Schenectady area some guy just emailed me about selling his 360.

His message:

"I have the premium console here with wireless controller and headset. Rechargeable battery for controller. Guitar Hero II, Halo III, NHL2k8, MLB2k8. Im willing to part with it all for 250 or just the system and controller/headset for 200 if you can do cash today
~Shawn (315)3688300
I live in schenectady so if you wanted to arrange pickup today I have off from work."

Not a bad deal at all if the system isn't a launch model or something. If you want a 360 or to make a profit this wouldn't be a bad time to jump. Maybe give him a call.

Man, Karkyco, great find. Bittersweet, though, to think of all those empty cases sitting around somewhere.

I hate/love when people say they have games and don't specify which system it is for or which games.

Example of one I found:

"Box of Nintendo/Saturn games. $10".

Now this can be a great deal. It depends on how many games and which games. But now I have to email them and wait for them to get back if they don't post their phone number. It doesn't even say what kind of Nintendo games they are.

It's good because lots of people overlook the auctions and don't feel like emailing.
It's bad because it's annoying.

Thanks Cambot. I actually called her this past weekend, she still hasn't found them, damn it. Though I'm sure it's not a high priority for her, and I don't want to push too much.

BTW I saw your Sega score, VEEEEEEEEERRRY NICE.

Man, I miss Master of Monsters.

Oh I so hear you. That's exactly how the PS1 and PS2 score I just had was. What sucks is missing the misspelling errors. You pretty much have to be actively surfing craigslist, eBay, etc. and just come across the miscategorized or misspelled post as it comes up. I've had a couple awesome Sega Genesis scores because the posters mistyped it 'Genisis'. Like this goofball:

http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/gms/717916580.html

There's always one misspelled Genesis ad on CL in LA.

LoL I just searched that on my Albany Craigslist and there were a few ads that misspelled Genesis.

Gotta look out for that more often now, thanks.

http://www.auctionbloopers.com/ is a good one for eBay misspellings.

Yeah, eBay is fun to search for those, but I think a bit easier to find them and more competition.

With craigslist, you have to pretty much "put yourself in the retard/moron's shoes", and figure how they would misspell certain items like suikoden, phantasy, chrono trigger, earthbound etc. as well as what incorrect sections they would put them in.

I've responded to a few like that where I've been a smart ass and said 'I'll take everything you have for the price you listed'. Of course, I NEVER hear back from them AT ALL, not that I ever expected to. But, you never know, one of those ads could be some gf/wife of a gamer who is trying to 'get back' at them and selling off their collection for $1.

Considering these are all good Game Gear games and finding a decent selection of Game Gear games can be hard in most areas those prices seem reasonable to me. I'd suggest geting these if you have a Game Gear and while your probably not going to be able to flash and get all of these for a buck or two like you might at a yardsale I bet you could offer and get 4 $3 games for $10 if this guy is serious about getting rid of the stuff.

A guy on craigslist here in seattle was listing cube games, so i agreed to buy his zelda master quest and metroid primes. I asked (because i saw he posted a listing with ps2 games a few minutes after) if he might have any other games or stuff he was getting rid of.

A day later he found a box of snes games he said i could buy. He had secret of evermore, ultimate black death, ultima false prophet, megaman 13, secret of mana, chrono trigger, super metroid, final fantasy II, final fantasy III, super star wars, empire strikes back, return of the jedi and Indiana jones greatest adventures. All with manuals and in great shape.
3 dollars each was all he wanted...

And 39 dollars later i had metroid prime 1, 2 and all those snes games,

I'm almost done with season 1 on www.hulu.com but watching off my 13" Macbook compared to my 32" LCD HDTV sucks and the commercials are annoying too. I'm putting the series on hold until I purchase the DVD's.

The guy said he's going out of town but he'll back back July 5th.

I did the same thing with Firefly, waiting for another Target sale to pick it up cause even though Hulu has some quality shows, it hurts to watch it so tiny
