The Official Craigslist Finds Thread!

For $80 (not the best deal, but still) I got the following all complete and VERY mint:

Disgaea (black label)
dot hack 1-4
dot hack GU 1-3
Suikoden III, IV, and Tactics

I'm happy!

Nice, I would have bought it too since I don't have my .hack collection anymoree

Wiimote & 2 Nunchucks $15
Left 4 Dead $20
Dead Spce $20

Probably could have gotten the games cheaper. But $20 each is good.

A couple of months ago, I bought a $465 Circuit City gift card for $300 on Craigslist. I immediately used it to buy an Xbox 360 arcade with a $40 off $199 coupon.

Circuit City then announced liquidation a couple days later, and I used the gift card to buy an Xbox 60gb starter kit at 30% off. Since I had money left over, I bought the $13.99 XBox points cards which I then flipped (kept a couple for myself and friends).

I made out very very nicely.
I found a listing for a good-condition original DS for $30. Is this a decent deal? This would be for personal use, not for flipping.
Yes, get that thing! :D

There aren't a lot of great deals around here, but I do like picking stuff up, so would any of you guys mind giving me a verdict on either of these:

http://longisland.craigslist.org/ele/1093064784.html
(Sounds pretty good but I'm a bit strapped for cash...of course, I could make most of it back. And I'd keep the system, don't have one of these yet.)

http://longisland.craigslist.org/tag/1092785110.html
A few good games but most of the good ones are GH version. MM8, all three MMX games, MGS, and Warhawk. Also some stinkers like South park and Stuart Little 2 and old wrestling games. Overall it's probably a guaranteed net gain but should I go for it? I don't have most of these games, except MM8 and MGS, and my MGS copy doesn't really work.

First one is 100% guaranteed a scam. Any ad that tells you to "click here for the Wii bundle" or whatever, is pure bullshit. Trust me, you will NOT get that bundle for $235, unless it's from a clueless private party who listed it way to low (in which case it would be gone in an instant).

For listing #2, it's $1 a game, but I see a lot of what appear to be demo discs. Really it depends on the actual games included, I see a couple of the Megamans/Megaman Xs but nothing that is catching my eye. Try and get a list of the games before you commit. If they're evasive, tell them that there appears to be a bunch of game demos in the pic so the best you could offer for a bunch of 10+ year old games is $20.

So about that guy that said he would buy any of the listed games for $2. I sent him an email stating that I had a Mario/Duck Hunt/Track Meet cart I could let go for $2. He replied that he would not because it is only worth $.75 and that he had been told by his friends to look out for me and to remove my post about him in this thread. Now either this is the same guy as all those other times, or there are some a ton of mega cheap asses on CAG that live near me.

Figures. I've never been much of a Craigslister but even I thought it was a bit fishy.

I emailed the guy for a list on the PS1 games. Like I said they mostly suck, but they're all games, no demos. Some don't have cases but all the good ones do. Eh, I'll think about it. Thanks for the tips.

I see those "click here to buy the __________" ads over here. Yes they are scams. It's one of those nigerian guys or those losers from the Uk that want you to send them money through the bank.

100% scam.

wow great pickup

don't feel bad its a dud here too. Lots of overpriced and far away sketchy ads that aren't worth the time trying to get ahold of the person

fuck, guys...it's been dry as hell here recently, and I've gone 0 for 3 on the last 3 good scores.

Here's an example of a couple of these. I came across an ad yesterday of a guy selling a Nintendo 64 with 10 games asking $40. In the pic it's a pic of an aquamarine translucent N64.

I call the number and ask for which games there are, and he says he's got Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, and some others he doesn't know, Kobe Bryant and some racing game. I figure fuck it, I'll take a chance.

I tell him I'll be there around 6 after work. I should really have just left my office and run over there, that was a stupid mistake. Sure enough, I get there and it's gone. The guy also tells me he had a PS2 with some games, and some PS1 games, and the guy took those and the N64 bundle. I look over the rest of the crap he has, and it's all beat up, so I console myself by telling myself that everything the guy got was beat up. Doesn't help. I would have given him the $40 for the N64 and whatever quality PS1 and PS2 games he had.

Then today, I came across an ad for a yardsale tomorrow from 11 to 6, that was posted a couple of days ago. I don't know how I missed it, but the guy was selling G1 Transformers, and had a pic of a big ass tub full of them. Address was listed, he wasn't answering emails so I figured fuck it, better run over there posthaste and see if I can just convince him to sell it to me before the sale starts. Sure enough, someone already had contacted him and wasted his entire day telling him he was coming over, finally got over there before me and bought the fucking tub for $150. While I already had everything in the tub from what I could tell, I would have offered the guy $100 and worst case cherry picked the best stuff like a Metroplex, the Protectobots, Jetfire, 2 Soundwaves, and some other tasty bits. fuck me.

And also today, a business near my office had a going out of business sale listing, and listed a Nintendo Wii with Mario Galaxy for $155 or best offer. I race over there the minute they open according to the listing, and it's already gone.

Everything else has been ass, but I'm planning on picking up Tetris DS and Mario and Luigi Partners in Time tomorrow for $20 total, both complete.

I posted this in the 'show your stuff' thread earlier, but forgot to put here:

Spent $160 on all of this total. You might not be able to see the Saturn console under the 2 64's, or the NES under the PS1. Everything I've tested has worked great so far, save for 2 of the 64 controllers (and one has literally been chewed by a dog, but still works fine!). OH also, there's a PS2 HD and Network Adaptor there at the bottom :) Also, the 64 games I got were fire, as well. Tons of the classics: Mario Kart, Smash Bros., Zelda, etc...

Supposed to be grabbing some stuff this weekend, including another big lot. supposed to be around $100 for an Xbox, Ps2, Gamecube (all w/ 2 controllers), and a phat DS, and a handful of mediocre games. I would have like to get it a little lower, but I'll almost recoup my cost trading the DS and PS2 into GS towards the DSi.

I picked up a big N64 package for $35 today, four controllers, rumbles, bunch of games, including Brawl and a couple other good ones.

Also got a Gamecube with controllers for $15.

What a great haul. I wish my craigslist would have stuff like that.

I pray for the day I find something that awesome.

In the meantime, how do you like this pickup I made today: 2 120GB Xbox 360 hard drives for $25 each. Are they hot? I don't really care. Such an awesome deal.

Great Find Dude. This thread inspired me to go looking on local Craigslist for some deals. I'm picking up a pink 360 controller and a live headset for $15 and maybe some games like Viva Pinata and TR:Anniversary for 5 bucks a piece. Nothing else that great. But you just gotta keep looking. :)
Banjo Tooie for N64 - $10

Do I take it?
No. It's worth about $5 if you want to play it; $3 or less if you want to flip.

If anyone on CAG is in the Syracuse area, the local CL up there had a listing from someone trying to get rid of a PS3 for $75. They said it had read problems, which are easily fixed by cleaning the lens most times.

No word on what model it was though, but it'd be a hell of a deal if it were a 20 or 60 gb.

Kind of a crazy week this week:

First pick up was a Sega Saturn + games for $60. I already have a Sega Saturn so I think I will try to fool around with this system for imports. I have very basic soldering experience from customizing arcade sticks and some other basic stuff over the years.

Games were:
Virtua Cop
Resident Evil
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
World Series 98
The House of the Dead
Shinobi
Daytona USA
Steep Slope Sliders
Galactic Attack
Football Quaterback CLub 97
Die Hard Trilogy

Sadly the games were disc only but they are all in good or better condition.
Trying to decide what to do with House of the Dead since I could eBay and pay for everything.

Next we have 125 PS1 games + ps1 system, controllers, memory cards ($275)

The games are all in Excellent condition, all complete, and all black label. Guy seemed like a real nice guy and said his girlfriend was making him sell them off. Earlier in the week he sold of his Saturn Collection, I wish I saw that on craigslist. I have some of them but his are probably in better condition. His Intelligent Qube definitely is (his is mint mine is scratched and missing the booklet).

This get my PS1 collection pretty awesome. I'm only missing a few more games that I need to find at some point - Wild Arms 2, Suikodens, Alundra, Bust-A-Grooves, etc.

On a side note, all the games were in alphabetical order!

Finally my third one ($30) this week was for a :
NES System

Zelda Tips and Tricks that was in the orignal LoZ box.
ShadowGate manual
Final Fantasy 3 guide!
and some other random odds and ends

I didn't bother taking pictures of some of the stuff from that pick up.

My friend also picked up a like new PSP bundle that he said a was a real good deal. I can't speak for it since I no absolutely nothing about the PSP.

Hopefully this weeks Craigslist will be as fun!

Thinking about these two: What would be a fair price to offer and any idea of their re-sale vale?
2 GBC with games $40
Looks like Pokemon Gold, Silver, Yellow, and TCG. As a lot that might fetch a pretty penny.

That'd be the day I'd let some MAKE me sell my shit.
How come it goes for so much on eBay?
I had no idea that Banjo Tooie started selling for a pretty penny again. Almost all other N64 games have dropped in value dramatically over the last year, I just assumed it had as well. So, I suppose $10 isn't the worst deal in the world. It's more than I'd be willing to spend for it, but it looks like you could make at least $8-10 off it.

I have the following Playstation 2 games for sale

PS2 Games $5 each unless stated otherwise

Resident Evil Code Veronica X
Onimusha 2
Onimusha 3
Resident Evil Outbreak 2
Resident Evil Outbreak 1
Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater
.Hack//Infection

Dragon Quest VIII
Phantom Brave
Kingdom Hearts
Gungrave

Good deal(s)? I'm looking at .Hack and Mgs3 mostly though.

Might as well pick up Dragonquest the resident evils and Phantom Braves (~$15 ebay). See if he would give you a break (maybe 6 for $20 or 7 for $25) or something like that.
Are those the original figurines from the 80's? do they fetch any value on ebay?
Oh fuck yeah, some are worth a ton. Mint in Sealed Box or even complete and generally excellent shape with original box, inserts, instructions etc., and they are worth a fortune. All the old toys from the 80's, before toy collecting really took off.

Even if you have broken ones, you can sell them individually for a little here and there depending on which one it is. Many collectors buy them for the parts. Also, any of the individual small parts - some of those parts go for serious money because they are so hard to find. Like the guns, fists, wings etc. I still have virtually all of the G1 Transformers, unfortunately only a few have their boxes. Same with lots of giant Japanese robots from that late 70's early 80's era.

Last year I got a 90% complete Jetfire (missing some of the armor) for $0.25 at a garage sale. I also bought a complete Swoop, Blurr, and Kup from the guy for $0.10 a piece. Best TF find I've ever had in my life. I could resell them for a lot more, but since I'm a collector I've got them sitting on my shelf with my other TFs (I've since run out of room on my shelf).

I'll offer you my 40 gb PS3 and big bag of dog crap for your 50 gb PS3. This is assuming that your 60 gb PS3 works flawlessly and you don't mind that the dog crap is from a mixed breed.

That's basically my way of saying you're getting a raw deal if you take that offer, since you could easily sell your 60 gb for more than that entire lot if the value of a 60gb model is still as high as it was when I last checked.

I scored an Atari 2600 w/2 regular controller, the paddle controllers, 2 odd joystick controllers, and the star raiders controller with 32 games for $25. The games are pretty much all commons except Montezuma's Revenge seems to be semi-rare. I was pretty excited since I didn't have an atari yet, but alas, it doesn't quite work right. The fire button on the left side is always pressed, even when no controller is in. I tried cleaning all the contacts and solder points but it didn't fix it. It's hard to play anything when you can't use the fire button.
