According to the latest issue of Famitsu (conveyed by CVG), the next installment of Ninja Gaiden is PlayStation 3-bound. Entitled Ninja Gaiden Sigma, the game will let you play as Rachel from Ninja Gaiden Black.

Although a drunken Tomonobu Itagaki revealed in early July that Ninja Gaiden 2 is in the works, there is no confirmation that this is the same project. As CVG hypothesizes, the title could be a remake of Ninja Gaiden Black with some bonus content and spiffier visuals. There is no indication that Sigma will be exclusive to Sony's console.

In recent years, Itagaki has focused exclusively on Microsoft's console. Is this a sign of a waning relationship between Microsoft and Team Ninja, or is the house that Dead or Alive built hoping to attract a larger Japanese following (if you didn't know, gamers in the Land of the Rising Sun hate freedom shun Microsoft consoles like the Black Death).

Famitsu lists no release date for the project; we'll let you know if any more details should spill at the Tokyo Games Show.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma could either be a new title or the remake of Black that Q-Man mentioned a few months ago in EGM. Either way it's good news for the PS3.

awesome. (now if they would move to the PS3 permanently, I could say good bye to my 360...)

Soul Calibur 4

All we know at this point is that Namco is working on the next installment of Soul Calibur and has the PS3 as the target platform. Whether or not it remains the system the game will ultimately premiere on is likely up to negotiations between Sony and Namco but given the relationship between the two (Soul Calibur III was exclusive to PS2), this one is very likely to hit the PS3 first, if not only release on PS3.

Also noticed this in the little list of related PS3 games in the Ninja Gaiden Sigma profile. I'm not sure how long they've had this, but it'd be great news if it's indeed true.

And my 360 further establishes itself as a paper weight.

Seriously... I've been keeping paper underneath it and books on top of it for over a month.

The word that's been going around is that this is Ninja Gaiden Black: Special Edition for PS3. In the Famitsu article they would of clearly stated it was Ninja Gaiden 2 instead of this Ninja Gaiden Sigma. Lastly, from prior interviews (1up, IGN, etc.) Itagaki "pretty much" confirmed Ninja Gaiden 2 was coming to 360(exclusive or timed exclusive). This is just more SDF spin on something they really want.

AfterEdit: Michaellvortega, proves it.

team ninja is starting to churn out games like mating bunnies. this is awesome! I hope Rachel is a full, unique character, rather than a model swap that has the same motions as Ryu.

and when that hammer hits the floor, there's going to be a minor earthquake happening on her chest!

Oh God damnit, another edition of NG1 to buy... thought this was new.

Good thing it's one of the best action games ever made. And that's not debatable so don't try

Ninja Gaiden was too hard and I suck at it. That game sucks. God of War is so much better. feeag. burned.

gotta agree about the 360/paperweight thing. Mine isn't quite a brick (ummm...I play Ninja Gaiden on it  ) but most of these recent announcements leave me completely non-plussed. Dig Dug on XBL, yay. Shooters X,Y, and Z announced, yay. Sonic the hedgehog, wow there's a shocker. and more mediocre crap coming from the MS camp, just like last gen.

meanwhile, the PS3 is starting to bust out it's exclusives, any one of which is much more exciting than pretty much everything on the 360 but Ninja Gaiden 2.

The Xbox 360 is starting to pick up steam if the press conference today was any evidence... there's a handful of games now which look like they could be great and I'm hoping to see more.... but shit. Sony basically said "okay you dilapidated fucktards, you were a stupids" and then busted out a superior lineup in the last week. The system's expensive as hell, but it's already proving once again that Sony's system will have the best games. MS never had that and hell, they still don't. I'm interested in exclusives and Sony's got 'em. Their E3 showing was disastrous and their launch probably won't be too good in terms of the lineup, but despite that, the first year is already guaranteed to have a lot of killer exclusives and TGS hasn't even officially started yet.

It's definitely picked up steam...but the steam it's picking up isn't my kind of steam at all. I just don't care a lot about any of the games. Can't wait to see Sony's tgs line up.
Ninja Gaiden was too hard and I suck at it. That game sucks. God of War is so much better. feeag. burned.
I'm sure this is sarcasm, but I'll bite. God of War is a pet rock simulator next to Ninja Gaiden.

As cool as a "new" Ninja Gaiden game goes, it isn't really a new Ninja Gaiden. Owning Ninja Gaiden Black, I couldn't say whether I'd buy this or not if I had a PS3. Probably not since 480p, 60fps, and 16:9 are already good enough for me. Sure, bumping up that resolution and some of the graphics would be nice, but it isn't necessary. The gameplay will be about the same.

total sarcasm

If it was anything like the "black" upgrade, they should add a ton of new content (aside from playable Rachel.)

nice..

I think the title of the this thread should be changed since this really isn't "the next Ninja Gaiden". It is just Ninja Gaiden Black with a few additional features as others have already pointed out. It is nice that a lot more people will be able to experience this series, but it is a little disappointing for those who have already play thru the xbox versions (paying full price for a few added feature, is it worth it?).

This shouldnt be shocking, as Itagaki perfers to work with the strongest system. It just happen that for a Xbox and X360 are the strongest.

Just because it is coming out for the PS3 doesn't mean it is exclusive to the PS3. It could be released on the Xbox 360 as well.

I doubt they will waste their time in porting it over to 360, since 360 can play Ninja Gaiden Black. Team Ninja has its hands full on 360 development since Itagaki said they had 5 games in development for it (I think it was the IGN interview).

This is true. However, one has to wonder how much longer Tecmo will allow Team Ninja to make exclusives for a system that simply doesn't sell in their home country (and when it does, it's for Team Ninja's games). I don't think we'll see them go exclusive to PS3, but I think we'll see a lot more games ported to both 360 and PS3 by them. It just makes economic sense, for now.
Good but having DMC4 and HS i past on overated crap like this.
I've put up with your nonsense for a while. Welcome to my ignore list. Say "Hello!" to Mastertech for me.

good point. They were shooting directly for the U.S. console market at first, which was a great move. People wondered why they weren't making an arcade game and why they were catering to the U.S....well, the money's here and it's in console games, which is a much more obvious fact now than it was back then.

on a side note, no matter how much MS pride Team Ninja has, they still have to answer to Tecmo. Which is why Itagaki's attitude is such an act--at the end of the day, he can't choose who to develop for.

Now that Tecmo's got a few bucks, some franchises and a name again, it's natural that they'll want to take on the playstation market. Ninja Gaiden is perfect for that (but I doubt they'll do a DoA game, since VF, Tekken and Soul Calibur have that scene on lock and DoA sells well on the Xbox.)

what would really be crazy is if they revived Tecmo Bowl (minus the franchises of course.)
Good but having DMC4 and HS i past on overated crap like this.
Good but having so many other decent CAG posts to read, I past on crap like this.

Ignoring richbastard? He's stupid as shit, but he actually serves as entertainment every now and then... kinda surprised people would want to pass on that.

I was going to be impressed that Itagaki actually walked the walk with all his "I develop for the most powerful platform" talk, but ... port. Ah well.

And I still don't get why Soul Calibur would continue to be PS exclusive: SC II sold worst on the PS2 by a hefty amount. Is Sony throwing THAT much money at them for the exclusive?

What are you talking about? This most likely is the next Ninja Gaiden title that's coming out. I would have written Ninja Gaiden Sequel if that were really true. There's no need for it to change.

Next Ninja Gaiden can be interpreted as Ninja Gaiden 2. Clarifying it more is basically what he's talking about.

Fine. Have it your way.

Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox was basically the only game I liked that was exclusive to that console...

Now what does it have for me!?

Dead or Alive... but that is probably gonna find itself on the PS3 aswell...

It wasn't the only game for me, but it was the best exclusive for the XBOX. I really had my doubts before its release, but it's one of the best action games in years.

But they have established themselves on XBOX more, too many of the fans got it for them to just back away. If they do it, they better make the games the same for each system.....none the less, I think I'm gonna see how this turns out to see what system I'm gonna get.
Rachel? Hot damn! homina homina
You damn right! :D

This and Heavenly Sword are the only things that have me seriously considering getting a PS3 now.
Joystiq is so reliable, just like their "STAY UP FOR MEGATON INFO!.................IBM is shipping Wii CPUs."
Why are some still crying over this? IMHO the Joystiq posters hyped this up 1000584640646480x more then Joystiq's simple post about "major" news check back @ 12AM.
And I still don't get why Soul Calibur would continue to be PS exclusive: SC II sold worst on the PS2 by a hefty amount. Is Sony throwing THAT much money at them for the exclusive?
Actually, the situation really was:

In Japan, Soul Calibur II sold the most on GC, but by a slim margin (Link is what basically made SCII sell on GC). The Xbox version bombed big time.

In the U.S., Soul Calibur II sold the best on GC (767k), while selling the 2nd best on PS2 (709k, Link was the whole reason people bought SCII on GC, since many people who despise fighters bought it for Link). The Xbox version sold well, but the PS2 version still outsold it (mostly due to having a larger user base at the time).

In Europe, the PS2 version of Soul Calibur II sold the most, by a significant margin (due to a small number of GC and Xbox consoles in Japan. The same happened for Sonic Heroes, where Europe was the country the PS2 version sold the most).

So in all reality, Namco sold the most copies or PS2 (or barely did), and that's why SCIII went to PS2 exclusive. Also, Namco knows that a decent percentage of the people who bouht SCII for Xbox or GC, had a PS2 anyway. Sony has also made publishing agreements with the 3rd one, where it could not appear on a non-Sony platform (meaning on PS2 and PSP), so it wouldn't surprise me if SCIV ends up that way. I just hope SCIV is exclusive to some platform, for Namco will take advantage of that platforms capabilities and not try to develop on the lowest common denominator.

As for Ninja Gaiden Sigma, I've been meaning to buy NG: Black but never did. The original NG was too hard for me, when I rented it, but I'm willing to give it another go. I might just wait for Sigma, but we'll see.

fucking awesome.

new boss battles, new levels, expanded story, new cutscenes, rachel is hotter....this is how you get someone to buy your game for a 3rd time!!! :D
Interestingly enough, I know that if I don't get a system at launch, this game's going to determine when I actually do buy it. My system purchase is being decided by the third iteration of a game from 2004... and honestly, there's nothing else that comes close in Spring.

Is this a third version or any all new adventure? I never had an Xbox, so it wouldn't affect me any, but just curious.

Anyway, I thought DMC4 had a prettier aesthetic, but this looks like it has better presentation and is just more fun to play. I liked the part where he's dodging attacks by what looks like the blue opera diva from the Fifth Element, and she's smashing pillars as the camera pulls back. Today has been a good day for Sony.

God, I've watched the trailer like 5 times now... it's so ridiculously cool. Itagaki finally gets to do all those things he talked about in interviews... like the whole "running on water" level. The new levels, bosses... everything... looks perfect. Is there anything that can measure up to this?

sex with scarlett johanson might be better.

yeah, the running on water level got me all giddy :)

Durand Pierre-- it's the third version and looks to be a ridiculously huge improvement on the other 2 so far.

The only thing that sucks is that the PS3 doesn't have rumble function.

That won't make or break the game, but it's going to take away from the experience somewhat...

.... looks hot, but still want part 2 more.

the huge plus now is that highschooler sony fanboys will finally play the best action title ever created thus far.

:whistle2:s You can DL them from Gamevideos with just right click and save as right at that link. It doesn't seem as easy on your gametrailers link.
