The Official Ninja Gaiden Sigma Thread (demo's up for DL)

I was getting pissed off last night because of the loading screens, yes fuking loading screens. When I was on my way to the Monastery I got 4 loading screens, one of which happened right when I was fighting. I'm very disappointed with that so far and yes I did the full install on the HDD.

ouch, that sucks. explain the loading scene in the fight please

I was on my way to the 3rd boss fight. 3 Black ninja's spawned then the loading screen came up for 5 seconds, right when the game started again I got hit by one of them. That loading seems to come up at the same place every time, which sucks because it loads yet doesn't because I haven't run into the problem since. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.
What the heck happened to this thread, there's whole pages missing.
Maybe you're thinking of the "Demo's Drooooopin" thread?

okay. sounds kinda like when you're in the trap door room, and a quick loading screen pops up when you go into the save statue room.

How about the lighting? I really hope that's fixed from the demo. The first time you go through the trap door room it's so dark that it's hardly worth fighting, then the next time it's nicely lit...that was annoying.

I thought the lighting was fine. All throughout the game.

So I finally finished the game on Normal. It was worth buy again to me. The new part's they added where pretty cool. Rachael's mission's where to short to me. I would have loved to played though as her more. I love that they mapped the items to the d-pad. Also if anyone read the GI review the reviewer said the game didn't have enough save points. He must have fuking sucked at the game bad because they have a shit load of save points, it seems like more than the xbox version had. Unless the NA version is going to have less which I doubt.

A few thing's I hated though.

The f'ing loading times, I still cannot believe that it had so many.

They should have added a weapon change button, even will all the PS3 power, they couldn't add it? I hated going through the menu just to use a big sword to mass a rock then switch back. It's more annoying than anything.

To end on a happy note, the two swords fuking rock, I used them more than the dragon blade.

Good to hear. Did you play in HD? Did the redone graphics blow you away? :)

I hope they do on the fly weapon changes in NG2. It's only there to look flashy in DMC 3, but I trust team ninja could implement it in a way that's useful in combat. either that, or just to skip the process of changing weapons.

I love how no reviewer has ever mentioned a problem with save points in NG, but it's suddenly, in the third version, it's a problem  He probably did suck at the game...

Yea, I played it in 720p. Aside from the water I'd say the graphic's are impressive. I really liked the flame effect's. Especially the fire cavern, the lava looked like it was alive.

Since I cannot play the PS3 version for awhile, at least not until the fall, I've got the original version coming to me ($8 shipped, not bad) to try out. I played the demo I had of it and had fun, though I wasn't a fan of the trap door/hole that I kept getting knocked into. I'd navigate the caves and kill some bats to get back to the same spot, only to be knocked back down the hole to do it all over again.

as weird as it sounds, I've never played either version of NG on Xbox

one of my best friends has been trying to get me to play it for a couple years now. I finally caved and put a pre-order down for it at Gamecrazy today.

what bonuses do you get?

I caved and stopped trying to get a good score on very hard, which helped me beat it.

I envy your Ninja Gaiden virginity  seriously, you're in for a big treat.
Still can't beat the DEMO on VERY HARD mode.

Jeeze, I want my NG Sigma bonuses!
Funny, I stopped playing it right when I unlocked Very Hard.

*Goes off to pass it*

Sadly, I will have to wait on this. Since there is a Sigma CE, I'll do what I did with FFXII and wait on a price drop/sale :/

But if there's a kick ass sale on the regular version before that ever happens, I'll be all over it. I haven't seen one PS3 game stay at MSRP for too long

*shock and dissapointment at own post*

I think you get money or something to start the game off within Sigma.
It was discussed somewhere either in this thread or the other.

not sure if this is old or new news, but IGN has a review up for Sigma with an outstanding 9.3 review.

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/800/800565p1.html

I think most everybody was expecting this game to rock though based on the demo. Environments are snazzy, runs great at 1080p60, Rachel's sections aren't as fun as Ryu's, but Rachel's "sections" are all good, etc etc.

nope, that's new and thanks for the head's up. :)
. Characters feature self-shadowing, which while subtle does look nice, but the environments use the same lighting techniques as the previous iterations. There's a time or two in the game where Ryu's dynamic shadows get cast onto the ground where the shadow from a platform you're standing on isn't cast and makes things appear messed up, though you really need to look for these instances and you'll probably never really notice them during actual gameplay.
LOL PORT XBOX IS BETTAR.

I actually saw Ninja Gaiden Sigma today, at Sears being sold. I almost bought it because I know my PSN buddies would have been very jealous to see me play it. I didn't get it because I'm waiting for 15% at Meijer.

Whaaat? 15% @ Meijer? Do explain, please :bouncy:
Whaaat? 15% @ Meijer? Do explain, please :bouncy:
If you have a Meijer credit card and there's a 15% or 20% general merchandise sale, that's the best time to buy expensive games IMO. Sometimes, Meijer has a coupon to get the discount. I still remember those getting a PS3 for around $400 because of discounts there.
Yeah, the game arrived in most stores already. It's street dated though T.T
Sears has sold street dated stuff before, like the Wii console.
Errrrrr, why didn't you buy it, then get it at meijer's, then "return it" to sears?
Different price tags on the game, so it won't work.

I should probably go down to Gamestop to preorder the LE... they're suck pricks about it if you don't and I don't want to end up buying it online and waiting even longer.

What a worthless bunch of wretches, those Gamestop employees.

Haha, I made the mistake of asking about what comes in the Sigma CE and the guy told me. Then he spent 5 minuted trying to persuade me to pre-order it AFTER I told him no thanks about three times.

I wanted to tell him to shut up, ring up my stuff, and let me be. I'm not mean like that plus I know I'll be coming back sooner or later for other deals >.>

Wouldn't want him breathing down my neck...

I have other stories but I'll save it for an appropriate thread [/OTT]
It'll be available on the 3rd. It shipped earlier this week.
Sweet :)

I gotta hurry up and finish up Resistance
Same but replace Resistance with The Darkness.
The Darkness starts off pretty crazy, I loved it

How far in are you? Hopefully it carries the momentum nicely. I laughed so hard at the phone call you make where you get the automated machine talking about getting stabbed and stabbing others XD

Does anyone remember which number that was...I wanna call it again >_>
Does anyone remember which number that was...I wanna call it again >_>
Fortunately the paper is pretty close to the beginning and that's the only way to dial the # for it as far as I know :/

I was looking at Gamefaqs and it looks like if you find what collectible number it was or whatever, the actual number to dial it is listed here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/ps3/file/927013/49031

I could be wrong though. I'd start the game over to find out but...it'll erase my progress if I do. Damn autosave :bomb:

I received my review copy yesterday; I don't remember the initial load time of about 30 seconds in the PS3 demo...

Edit: Stupid me, I didn't see the install option of the freakin' title screen!

if it's like the xbox game, it caches for about a minute each time you load the game up for a session.

I think that's b/c the demo had to be installed on the HD in order to play first. That would explaing the difference in loading times...

Edit: Just saw you edited your post, guess you caught on quickly :p
