The Official Ninja Gaiden Sigma Thread (demo's up for DL)

Haven't had any of those problems, but I do find it weird that when you save the game, after the bar hits 100% it then says "now saving..." for a few seconds o_O

Picked the game up today with my July 4th 10% BB coupon along with my PS3. Only made it through the first chapter and damn its still hard. Sure is pretty though.

They haven't said yet... it might be on the 360 because Itagaki likes the system.... though I suppose some of it depends on how they feel about the PS3 after making Sigma.

Kinda figured it would be heading to the PS3 since they just worked on Sigma. You figure since they did this they'd have a feel for the system and want to expand on it.
Hopefully Sigma sells well enough to keep them on the PS3 scene
Got up to the first Rachel mission. I really suck as her but I like her style a lot. makes those alien guys a huge challenge.

is anyone else's game doing a lot weird little things? Like when I open certain chests, it pauses for just long enough to make me think it might have frozen. sometimes the menus lag too. and at the first save point, it froze for like 30 seconds.

and man, the CGI is nasty. I thought blu-ray was supposed to cure compression woes-- this seems more compressed than the Xbox version :\
The same stuff happened to me. So it's gotta be universal.

Ugh. Rachel has got to have the most stereotypical big boobed hot leather clad with a 'tude heroine deal going on ever.

Gotta love Itagaki :applause:

I did the install too. it's nothing major that's ruining the game for me, but this game is not nearly as fine tuned as the other two. especially the CGI.
Hopefully part of the DLC will be a patch to make it run smoother.

believe it or not, she doesn't have a tough American woman 'tude. Unless she speaks in ebonics in the english dub or something

So what's not as finely tuned? I know the CGI looks weaker than it did back in 2004 (they didn't change anything about it except make it widescreen I believe) and there's those really brief loading times before opening some chests or obtaining some items but... the gameplay that matters feels absolutely perfect.

Well anyway, I woke up early-ish so I can get more of this game in before I have to go to that bullshit workplace that's going to fail anyway.

Maybe I'm weird, but I only use the single sword in this game... the entire time. Well, except for a couple situations where you're swarmed by an enemy and you need the Vigoorian Flail.

the gameplay is perfect (aside from controller issues, which I can't tell are the game or the console yet...I'm guessing it's the console.) All those weird loading times and stutters are the problems. The xbox version was like one huge, smooth ride the whole time, this is like "walk 3 feet, load for a second, walk another 10 feet, loading" etc. The CGI is looking quite jaggy and not as well produced on my TV.

try out the dual swords. they're awesome at level 2-- lots of crazy ass moves with them :hot:

sorry to hear about having to work today. I have to drive to Chicago (ugh) and hang with family...which is like work when I've got this game calling my name in the PS3

Vigoorian Flail = Combo PWNAGE!

X,X, ->XXXXXXXXXXX FTW (or I guess it would be square square, f+ square x 10)

Fark yea, what I love is that any enemy who gets close gets sucked into it also :D

This game is awesome, but there are problems with it that I have encountered. The main thing being that once when I was trying to save it just kept loading for about 10 minutes before I shut it off.

Only happened once luckily though.

at the very first save point, right?

the problems are disappointing...guess Hayashi learned how to exaggerate his skills from the best of them

Aww, cmon. The load times aren't anywhere near that frequent. And IIRC, while not quite as frequent, the Xbox versions had them mid-level too.

Yeah, I think you're exaggerating a bit on the load times. I just finished chapter 4, and I haven't run into any that have disrupted my gameplay.

The dual swords are cool, but I love the Lunar too much for me to use anything else.

Actually the first save point with Rachel.

I don't know who's bright idea it was, but the save point is almost exactly in the area that you cross and the game starts loading. I actually had to be very careful the second time to save without it screwing up.

This is one of the few game where the loading is actually annoying me. I mean, more than once it began loading while I was fighting. Really really annoying.

you guys must have better copies than me and whoknows. The Tairon mission after Rachel's first mission is out of hand. I was getting load screens during fights. there are certain points in the level you can walk between and get load screens every time. Going from a version where the word "loading" is hardly seen at all to this is rough.

I want to love this more than anyone else, but the only reason I'm playing at this point is to see the touched up graphics and the Rachel missions (and in hopes that things clear up.)

Yeah, that's really, really weird. I mean, there's a couple spots where I've seen loading happen, but they're very rare. When it does happen, it's always for like... a second. It's happened in combat once or twice, but it's nothing problematic.

Same with me. I've never once had a loading screen during a fight. There are certain areas where there's loading when you move between them, but it's short and nowhere near any gameplay.

Only problem I'm having is I don't like Rachel >.

I need help. I just awakened some freaky skeleton-like fleshy dead zombie tall freaks with long hammer things in this one cemetary (Chapter 7). What do I do now? I have no idea.

Thanks

wow this game kicks my ass lol
was there a difficulty setting? The camera in small spaces is pretty annoying

Only on chapter 3 on the airship. That flaming horse in chapter 2 was pretty damn annoying too...

It's funny because I remember when this game was hard. It's not anymore! I played the original, and Black. Beat them both, and I'm breezing through this one. Practice baby, practice!

Chop it up into little pieces. Then after you get the grail from that one room, going back into it and kill 60 of them ;)

MASSIVE GAMING GEEK! *sorry, couldn't resist :p*

Yeah, I remember back when the original version came out... Alma kicked my ass. Now, she's a fuckin' joke. I literally raped her. How'd this game scrape by with an M rating?

If you guys want a challenge, go all the way back to the entrance to the base during Chapter 8 with Rachel (where you get the throw scroll for Ryu.) I'm not sure how many enemies there are cause I keep getting my ass kicked, but they give you 500 seconds to kill all of them. by comparison, you get 300 seconds to kill 60 enemies, usually.

i'm still getting my ass whooped on..bumbling through the game lol
Made it to chapter 5 the first Rachel chapter, and I think I like to play with her more, not only cuz she's slow, easier to control, and can kill people in one hit up close, but I also find her bouncing balloons quite amusing. Controlling and killing those fiend guys (well...the beginning fiend guys) is a cakewalk compared to Ryu vs soldiers with guns and grenade launchers.

Just my opinion, but i think Ryu's controls could be a little tighter. I find myself open to a lot of attacks mostly cuz I try to go one way, then try to go another, and he always has that pause in between movements. That and I'm just learning how to dodge jump to get away faster. I think I'm probably spoiled by God of War in which you can turn and dodge on a dime. And also, what's the wind run for? Looks exactly like a jump except with a little wind blast at the feet.

I died so many times on that chapter 3 boss...ended up getting into ninja dog mode which didn't really make it any easier, and now I'm a little pussy in Ayane's eyes. :(
...and now I'm a little pussy in Ayane's eyes. :(
It's ok :) :grouphug:

I've never been a ninja dog, I've only been the master ninja ;)

Guess that fiend challenge with Rachel is only 60 enemies still. I finished it with 200 seconds to spare :) Took me a good 20 tries though...those fiends with the blade arms and red dragons are freaking hard with rachel.

Well, I just got this game, my first Ninja Gaiden since the NES versions.

Crap, I'm using elixir's of life like there's no tomorrow.

I have enough money to buy one of those bracelet things that gives a boost to strength or defense. (chapter 2)
Worth it to spend my money on?
I don't know how I should go about saving my money.

What happened to that bonus the demo was supposed to give you?

I had 2000 essence at the beginning...usually you start with 0.

definitely get one of those armlets. I recommend the Armlet of the Sun for the str boost. Then practice practice practice, so you don't have to worry about getting hit (it's all about rolling) :)

Is there like a secret bonus if you upgrade the wooden sword all the way?
I did it once and of course, no new techniques. It has so many levels to grow, seems like some kind of 'easter egg'.

If you upgrade it all the way it becomes the most powerful weapon in the game.

Yep-- you get the Unlabored Flawlessness, which is like a huge wooden paddle. I decided to go for it for the first time on this playthrough. The last three levels of it cost 20,000, 30,000, and 40,000 respectively  I just have one more level to go, and 35,000 essence in my pocket :)
