I'm not sure when it happened but I saw that Amazon now has the 4GB memory card up for preorder. I have no idea why Amazon hasn't put up the other cards yet.....especially the 32GB.

For anyone who has been waiting for the Memory Cards to go up on Amazon, all 4 of them are now available for preorder.
 
Now that the 3g plans have been announced I'm kind of tempted to change my preorder to 3g version. It's $50 more but you get a free game. I have a smartphone but it's only the 200mb plan from att. I only used like 40mb last month but still this would be nice to just buy 2gb worth of data when going on a trip and not worry about getting anywhere near 200mb. I just hope they announce what the free game choices are a least 2 weeks prior to release so I can change my preorder is necessary. Not doing anything right now.

Depends on the free game doesn't it. Have they announce what type of "free" game it would be. A free PS Vita game sounds much nicer than a $5 PSN game.

Finally, an official list of pricing plans for 3G service on the PlayStation Vita has been announced by AT&T, the official data partner for Sony's latest handheld. There will be two options available: a $14.99 plan with a cap of 250MB per month, and a $25 plan with a cap of 2GB per month. These are month-to-month plans -- no long-term contract required.

AT&T has also revealed that anyone who signs up for Vita data coverage can download a free game from a select list of titles. We've contacted both Sony and AT&T to get our hands on that list and will update when we hear back.

The PlayStation Vita launches in the US on February 22.

PS Vita will launch with a wide range of social networking features developed specifically for the system that provide unique, handheld entertainment experiences:

Location-based application "near" will allow users to find out what other PS Vita owners in their vicinity are currently playing and what titles are most popular in the area. "near" also enables location-based gaming features such as "gifting," in which a user can access virtual game-related items that other users are sharing by checking in at geographic locations. For example, in the popular kart racing series ModNation Racers: Road Trip, PS Vita users will be able to collect rare gift items provided through the game when visiting specific points of interest in 45 major cities around the world. They can then share them with other PS Vita owners through the "near" application.

PS Vita systems with an active AT&T data plan will also take advantage of software functionality developed specifically for the 3G-enabled model that allow users to game at the speed of their mobile lifestyle, including turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer gameplay, instantly updated rankings and leaderboards, immediate access to the latest downloadable add-on content, and real-time community news.

The PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi model will be available in the United States on February 22 for $299. AT&T data plans are priced separately and will be available on a month-to-month basis. Users can easily activate a data plan directly from their PS Vita system. In addition, once PlayStation Vita owners activate their 3G/Wi-Fi unit with one of AT&T's data plans, they will be eligible to choose one free download from a list of select games available on the PlayStation®Store.

true which is why i will wait to decide if it's worth $50 more. if it's just a free psn game i'll pass. my phone is rooted and has the ability to act as a wifi hotspot. I could always just upgrade my phone plan for long road trips. I have a power inverter in my car with both usb and ac power ability so i could in theory play my vita off ac power while having my phone act as a wifi hotspot for entire car and i could connect my vita to that

Just found out about sony rewards card. As long as you have an income greater than your rent you are pretty much golden. Now to cancel my preorder at gamestop and pay for it using the card

Just canceled my pre-orders. I want the First Edition Bundle, but I don't want to pay an extra $50 for 3G. If Sony brings the Wi-Fi bundle over from Canada, then I'm sold. Until then...

The way I see it, $300 for LD, 4GB memory card, plus case leaves me the option to buy a game later. Little Deviants doesn't' seem worth $30-40 retailers are charging but I actually want the game.

So starter bundle vs buying everything separately? I would get the starter bundle if it wasn't only a 4gb card. I have ps+ and I just know that I will want to put a few of the games on the vita. I'm thinking 8gb or maybe even 16gb. Maybe the starter kit is a good idea and then wait for price drop on the cards?
 
My primary concern is the lack of bundles for the Wi-Fi version. The point of bundles is to save some money and I would obviously like to save some money. Paying full price for everything at launch goes against that and I've simply decided to wait for a bundle.

They are already losing money on the console so you won't see a price drop for awhile. You may see a memory card sale sooner than later. I'm sure you can find discounted games in a few months after release. Third pary cases and stuff will probably come out for much cheaper. Honestly I'm getting it day one because I really want it. Also sony card is offering 5000 rewards points with first purchase if approved so you can get a $50 gift card for sony online store and get some other stuff if you don't already have the card
 
Hmm...that sony card sounds nice, but the constant filling out reward forms and mailing them doesn't...

Hopefully, Kmart will have a good deal on the system.
 
That First Edition Bundle isn't really saving you any money though unless you really think that cheap looking case is worth max $20 bucks.

Actually the point of a bundle is to sell things they have trouble selling alone. Pretty sure most people don't care about the Case or LD.

I must be one of the few who actually want LD. I personally think Sony should have included it for free with every PS Vita, but whatever. It really comes down to I want a Wi-Fi bundle because I completely disapprove of the 3G bundle.

yeah i'm not too optimistic about a deal. I'm getting it at gamestop for the simple fact that I bought a game on credit the day before christmas someone gave it too me and I returned it. So I had $60 credit which basically paid for a quarter of the system. It would have to be a really good deal to get me to cancel that.

Granted, this is pure speculation, but you guys think there will be any deals for a free game or anything on launch? I want to get this but the CAG in me is saying wait until you can get a free game or something, especially with my backlog.

That's what I'm waiting for. I would love to get this at launch, but I need to make my money last and paying full-price isn't how you do that. Will wait for a memory card + game bundle on the Wi-Fi version.
 
I thought it was called Banana Blitz for a second before I remembered that that's the Wii game. They must be running out of potential puns for titles.
 
Given all those accessories, if I buy a Vita, I also need to buy a game (natch) and a memory card. Is there anything else I'd be missing out on?

The lineup looks good for this console, but I'm having a very hard time generating any interest in the system. Very strange, that. Maybe I'm just not interested in spending another $250 on a console now. I think I can wait until it's $200 or even $150.
 
Looks like GameStop's finally adjusted their Vita memory card prices to the MSRPs that Sony announced a few weeks ago, but some of the games are still priced higher than they should be. They even have Madden NFL 13 on there priced like it was going to be $59.99, but they were generous enough to cut the price down to $39.99.
 
Debating whether or not to pick one up. I have about half the price in gamestop credit, and my 5 year wedding anniversary is the day after, so my wife is willing to pick up the tab on the rest.
